What ROMS can i use? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Are the ROMs on Verizon's S7 page the only ones i can flash on my phone?
Or can i use ROMs on the S7 page? https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7

Pretty sure you can't use those. I'm also pretty sure it's because they (SM-G930F) have Exynos Processor, We (SM-G930V) have Snapdragon Processor.

[Q] Can I use the 910C (Exynos) in Hungary?

tl;dr: ^ See topic text. ( I guess I would not have LTE here with that, but that's not a big issue at all. Coverage is horrible in Hungary anyway. )
A few shops* sell the 910C here as well, not just the F version.
Now I know that the Exynos version is faster, more power efficient.
And I guess all official updates will also reach this variant faster or pretty much with the same speed.
On the other hand, we have the Snapdragon, which got much more custom roms and section on XDA.
(Honestly it feels so weird that the 1.9ghz A57 can beat the S805 clocked at 2.7ghz in single-thread....)
Anyway. Personally, I used the S3, S4, Note 2, S4 Mini, Motorola phones... and every time I installed Cyanogenmod or other CM/AOSP-variant roms, it was riddled with bugs.
Don't get me wrong, the Note 2 have the DN4 Rom which is basically a Note 4 rom ported, and it's great. It's stable, it's got a few quirks, but it works.
But from that, it doesn't seem to be a good deal to trade speed, and power just for more roms. (Let alone Knox which I don't want to trip.)
Sooo... I would be pretty fine with the Exynos version.
But can I use it here?
* = all gsm shops are shady in the country, that's why I'm super-cautious.
Use Exynos in Hungary
If you mean just using it as a normal phone I don't see why not.
The type of processor will have no influence on the normal use of the phone. (as in calling, texting internet and email and such)
If you would want to root it and start working with custom ROMs it might not e the best idea. Most open source development is on the Snapdragon variant.
The AOSP ROMs have come a long way over the last couple of years. I experience hardly any bugs with the bigger devellopment teams.
All the best, Willem
Thank you! Well, I know the difference is tiny, but you cannot install roms and stuff without tripping KNOX anyway. It will be a business phone so I would like to keep my warranty.
Not sure if allowed, but please, excuse my bump.
I would like to order the phone as soon as possible.
So far I'm convinced that the Exynos will be fine for me.
But the main question remains. Can I use it in this country?
I tried to look up the chipset, the phone, everything - but there is just no information on what frequencies does it support / etc.
So I had a wild idea. Screenshot the box at unboxing on Youtube, so I can check.
Then I used this:

That says it should work. What do you guys think?

Most roms are for the snapdragon but the exynos has a faster processor so it's all up too your needs.
is it true that games work more smoothly in snapdragon than exynos?

Can be ported 6.0.1 from S5 G900S or other device?

I was noticed that I9505 has an Snapdragon 600 and G900S has a Snapdragon 801, but I know that are roms ported from S5 801 to S4 800 (i9506), and I want to know if a rom from Snapdragon 801 can be ported it to Snapdragon 600.
Great thankss.
Have a nice day.
Any1 that knows that previous question?
Thankss.
Any rom can be ported if someone wants to spend enough time doing it.
there are plenty of touchwiz based roms that have system apps ported from the note 3 and 4 s5 and 6. the processor isn't the issue it's whether the framework will allow those apps to run.
the i9505 development forum (not original development) has plenty. maybe unified development roms has what you're looking for. I never check there myself
sorry, just re-read your question, you mean android 6 itself. that sounds like more work than anyone would begin to undertake. especially when you can probably still find or port AOSP and CM roms. touchwiz is going to be optimized for the hardware by Samsung, you'd essentially be recreating marshmallow touchwiz from the ground up.

Which model is recommended for custom roms?

I'm in love with the hardware of the galaxy s8 so I decided I want to buy it (Although I hate Samsung Touchwiz)...
but I'm torn of which variant should I buy - the unlocked US version (with Snapdragon 835) or the international version (with Exynos 8895).
honestly I prefer the snapdragon chip for the popularity of snapdragon but I heard the unlocked US version rarely gets updates .
Another major consideration is that because I hate Samsung Touchwiz I hope (someday) a custom AOSP rom will be released for the phone (like Lineage OS), so I want a model that will get custom rom support fast...
so my question is-
Based on the above, Which model should I buy?
Furthermore, Which model probably will get root and support for custom roms first?
Thanks in advance
You will never see a working aosp rom on a samsung phone..if you hate tw.. I suggest you to run away from this phone and never look back
Well looking at S7 Edge, for some reason Snapdragon, which is usually considered as more opensourced etc than exynos, didn't receive any custom ROMS, especially AOSP. Surprisingly, Exynos did - both Lineage and ResurrectionRemix are available, however, it took time to release them, I guess it will also take some time for S8 to receive it's 'clean' Android ROMs. Not sure whether Snapdragon variant has locked bootloader, but if it is, then it may be a hard nut to crack

If you really want custom roms then maybe you shouldn't go for samsung. First is development on exynos is a pain in the a*s for devs, second as mentioned it takes some time to develop a decent AOSP rom. But if you really want a samsung device then yeah, go for Exynos international, Qualcomm is locked and hard to tinker with.

ROM advice please!

Looking for advice. I'm Verizon SM-G935U (V) Snapdragon 820. I've used some ROMs but I tend to get these brief pauses or hangs using apps. I noticed my GF doesn't get them with her stock S6. Is that just a custom ROM issue? What I'm looking for is the most barebones ROM with best battery usage out there. I might use 10-15 playstore apps. And stable so there is none of those brief hangs. Or would stock ROM suite me better?
I was all set, after reading about a bunch of them, to try Superman. Then I found out that doesn't support Snapdragon variants. Is there any ranked up there and similar with Superman that will work with Snapdragon processor?

None of the roms in the Exynos S7 Edge forum are compatible with phones that have a Snapdragon CPU.
Sorry about that...
Have a great day.
I guess I'm understanding that not much is done for the snapdragon version? And if it is, it's for the SM-9350?
