pixel 2 - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Hi do anyone know where can i get new pixel 2 ui launcher..

The device isn't even released yet!
Wait for some dev to get the device and extract the launcher. That means about 2 weeks.

Ooh thanks for reply. I became eager after seeing it.

What do you guys think of the Pixel 2 & 2 XL?

Expensive but well featured.
Sent from my OnePlus 5 using XDA Labs

The pixel XL 2 is too expensive and I don't like the disign of it's little brother. I decided to go for a OP5 after the presentation and Wait for the pixel 3.

wait what? probably the most simple phone on the market with a premium price....
Its a beast, but I just don't get the huge hype for a iPhone with android OS.

What the hell are you talking about?

Best camera experience on a smartphone and 3 years of software\security support.... Pixel sucks!

Got one on order. Not the XL though since I don't have huge hands and love 1 handedness. White shipping has me waiting till 15 of November though and Black is shipping out this month.

What the use of launching at such a high price then dropping it too nearly half in few month's. See oneplus there price is constant till end of stock. Pricing should be affordable to average class person.

Person who buy now at $600+ regret by seeing price drop about 100-200 in just 6 month's. Hard earning person will feel bad. Everyone dream of having premium phone but it shouldn't give regret. Companies need to care for common man feelings too.

tell me what this phone has most than the v30, note8, s8, iphone8 or this cheap op5???
android is about features. pixel 2 is a freaking iphone with android. great camera, no jack, snap835, 4gbram, no sd, no fm, no cap button, and probably hard to service because a temporary ip protection ( yeah its not permanent).
lets pay 900 and get less feature than the op5.
dont get me wrong this will be a beast , but nothing crazy for the price.
v30 win over all this year flagship, but people are looking at the pixel, really?

Better off buying the 1st Gen pixel and porting software features from the 2nd Gen.

I don't get what you're talking about with the IPhone thing. Calling the Pixel an IPhone?
Anyway, I don't even think it will be as fast as the OP5, we'll have to see. All the other SD835 SoC's are all clocked at a lower frequency (2.35ghz compared to 2.45ghz). Plus, OOS on the OP5 has been supremely optimized with the hardware. Nothing I've seen has been as fast as the OP5 yet that I've seen in side by side tests and also haven't seen any phone with a battery that lasts like this one.

From the initial hands on, Google is using some kind of magic for the camera.

I just need that Pixel 2 live wallpaper.Waiting for the system dump or some one to extract them.

yeah, well this is because back in the days, iphone was simple , no button, no features, no jack, no sd, no wireless charging. aka no features, and it was selling at high prices.
by the mean time, android phones were packed of features; buttons, removable battery, sd, wireless, fm, ir, temp sensor, roms, etc.
features wise and price wise , looks like they use the same markenting as the iphone...

OnePlus X specs leaked

http://indianexpress.com/article/te...-spark-rumours-of-another-oneplus-smartphone/
A report on GizmoChina, which quotes “factory sources,” spills more details on the OnePlus X.
The report says that the OnePlus X has a more premium look than the OnePlus 2, a fingerprint sensor at the back, 5-inch screen and the same Snapdragon 801 processor and the pricing could be around $249. The report goes on to add that the OnePlus X might be launched this month itself.
Damn that sounds awesome

cant waitt!!
That's a lame idea. Its like oneplus one 2nd gen. One plus 2 is affordabl and better
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
oneplus 1/2 are too damn big, i want to go back to a 5/5.2 inch phone
IMHO it would be awesome to have an OPO "mini", very good news then
Sounds like a really bad idea. A sucessor to the OPO with a smaller screen. Lame. Oneplus logic. Replace the OPO with a phone that is not as good, again.
There is a market for smaller phones that are not high spec. Why would anyone criticize oneplus for trying to appeal to even more people.
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
The Oneplus Mini seems like a more appropriate title. They could even tie it in with marshmallow, its acronym ending with an M and all.
I can see it now. OPM.
Compared to the current OnePlus One for $300 in the USA,
the Oneplus X gives you only a $50 discount, but you get less storage, less battery, and less screen. Seems like One is still a better value. Did I get it right?

Not if someone wants a smaller phone.
This one will be actually good to buy for my parents.
If the specs are mostly identical, would it be possible to port O2Os for opo?

I'm guessing at some point Oneplus will release an Oxygen OS 2.1 version for the OPO, but with this phone going on sale not anytime soon as it could affect sales of the Oneplus X
It's basically a OPO with an microSD slot and a more compact size. I can see the appeal. Not everyone wants a phablet

No, and I don't think anyone realistically expects it. Verizon is CDMA and globally represents too thin a slice of the market for OnePlus to dedicate the resources needed.
It would be perfect with NFC.
I like it but No fast charging? Then again how long does a 2550 mah battery take to charge? There's other stuff they left out too. Very nice build quality though.

They managed to get the OPO's 3,100mAh battery to change in just 2 hours which is pretty impressive.

Will you be buying the new pixel phones based on the leaked specs and price?

I know many people are disappointed with the rumours until now.
But I'm curious how many of you are still buying regardless.
If the price is true, $650 for the smaller and lowest specs, this will be the first Google phone I'll not buy.
I will probably buy the XL. I am going to try out Project Fi, and I am going to assume that the Pixels will support Fi.
There is really no other phone that interests me. Been down the Galaxy road, had a Note, Nokia, Moto, etc. But one phone I have, strangely, never used was HTC. Going to jump in, try Fi, and if it works for my area, I'll dump Big Red and get my family onto Nexus/Pixel phones.
I'm not a spec whore, so based on what I've seen so far, I'm in.
And get rid of this freaking iPhone I have now.

I've got a Nexus 6 at the moment. I had been waiting to get a Nexus 2016.
Unfortunately I think the price of this is going to rule it out for me.
Buying a Pixel XL no matter what, as long as the 128Gb version is less than $900.

The phone specs aren't worth $900 or even $800.
the price is damn high , maybe will consider buy a boom 7
They lost me at 5.5" screen and dropping the front facing stereo speakers.
I never let price decide anything for me but the above 2 just killed it completely for me no matter how cheap or expensive the device may or may not be.
Id be happier with another 6P likely lol
Sent from my SM-N930F using Tapatalk 2
I was almost leaning towards the Pixel XL when the rumor was still ~$600, because I actually would have liked something closer to a phablet. That, and the fact that AT&T is supposedly going to offer it on the Next program, made it attractive. At closer $800-$900, though, they can keep it.
I'm still somewhat interested in the Pixel, as it would make a nice upgrade to my M8, but at the rumored price I'm going to be taking a wait and see attitude. I did pay nearly that for my M8 two years ago, which would mean my phone bill wouldn't move too much. However, it's not the sure thing it would have been at a more reasonable price.
Based on specs so far I like it. But if it's the same price as a note 7 or iPhone 7 then I will probably pass.
If pixel xl 128 gb is for $650 - $750 yes then y not as per the leaks pixel xl will be 5.5 qhd screen snapdragon 821 and 4gb ram with ip53 Yes not bad i think so there should be only 64 and 128gb who buys a 32gb phone these days.

To clarify, I voted based on reading the thread title, which includes the words "based on leaked specs and price." After looking at the actual poll, it only asks "will you buy the Pixel?" I voted no based on what I thought this was asking, but yes, I am buying a pixel, just not based on the leaked specs and price.
6gigs of RAM would have helped, given the pricing. I'm really hoping their implementation of VR is going to completely nail it and take it to a whole new level. Hoping they give you their Daydream VR headgear as part of buying a PixelXL...can't wait any longer for the 4th!
It needs to be 128 snapdragon 821, better image stabilizer, and on T-Mobile carrier so I can just jump to it. I have jump 1.0
To date the largest top and bottom bezels are on phones that have front facing speakers like the HTC phones and the 6p.....but the pixels phone bezels in the latest leaked images look like the bezels are even larger than those phones and they don't even have front facing speakers. Doesn't make sense. Not to mention...not having ffs is a major loss.
I also dont think the camera will be much better than the 6p...... especially if they don't add OIS. Top tier phones nowadays need to also have optical zoom like the iPhone 7.
Additionally the 4 gigs of ram is an improvement but with the same size battery as the 6p....even though the screen is slightly smaller....it may not have better battery life than the 6p.

V20 has a removable battery and sd card slot plus a bigger screen which is all good.
What is bad is LG is notorious for locking the bootloaders depending on which model you get and development will almost surely be better on the pixel.

What's Next After The 6P?

So to those of you who are still using this phone, what's your next jump? S8 S8+... Pixel 2, other?
I've really enjoyed this phone, but it's time to start thinking about the next upgrade. Oddly, I didn't actually unlock & root this phone. I think this is the first time I haven't done that with a phone. So that's not huge to me.
I personally think the Pixel 2 may be the next jump as I do enjoy the non bloatedness of these phones. I hope though that Google (as much as they charge) competes really well. With the S8 & iPhone 8 coming they have to.
Have any of you thought about your next phone from this one? Are you sticking with this one as long as you can & feel you'll be able to get a replacement that compares? I know for me, the whole buying this from Google & the price was a big factor. Unfortunately the price thin isn't going to happen again. The $475 I paid for this I fear is long gone unless I venture outside of the norm. OnePlus, LeeEco, Huawei, etc. Having Verizon though pretty much limits any of those options however.
it's too early to talking about next phone but between phone in store right now I interested to "moto z force", sadly just exclusive to the US market via Verizon and I'm not living in US! ?
Still very happy with the 6P. I'll probably keep using it as my main phone at least until the end of the year. Will mostly consider OnePlus and Pixel 2 when I'm ready to replace the 6P.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I think more and more the top of the line phones are just not necessary anymore. Once my 6p dies (which may be a while as I got a brand new replacement from them for the bootloop issue) I'll consider the Pixel 2 (or 3), but most likely I'll lean towards oneplus, or ZTE, or Honor, all of which have had great phones this year, for much less than the pixel.
Any phone that gives me a SD and fast updates.
It's time for Google to stop the no SD card crap.
I don't know if that's going to happen with the no SD thing. This is where I could see getting the S8 vs the Pixel 2 just to lower the price. 32GB phone then buy the card. Hell with all of the goodies Best Buy throws in I'd almost bet on some sort of freebie or two. Whether a wireless charger, SD card or VR headset. I can see something.
I bet the oneplus 4 or 5 or whatever they call it will be pretty good. I just wish more phones could be taken to Verizon. Leaves me with only a few options.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I'm holding out for the Pixel 2 myself, I have Project Fi so its practically the only choice I have for upgrading. I just hope it has some premium features like legit water resistance and a better looking design. I also hope they have enough in stock that I can order one because doubt my Nexus 6P will last that long around then.
Nothing thus far. The 6P already does everything I need to in addition to the large 3450 mAh battery, great screen, and awesome speakers.
Don't think shelling out a few hundred dollars is worth it for under the hood specs that I would barely notice like opening an app milliseconds faster. It's not like my 6P is unable to do what the newer gen phones can do.

That "large" battery is one of the worst in recent smartphone history.
I'll be jumping ship to the s8+ and maybe come back to Google when they don't try and sell a budget phone for a stupid price like with the Pixel.
The only thing I'll miss from the 6p is the speakers.

The 6P battery has been excellent to me, I can't speak for anyone else. It compares to my Droid Turbo that had a 3900 mAh battery. It could be "worse in history" to you, but it has been nothing short of stellar to me. It has absolutely exceeded my expectations given that I've read mixed reviews regarding the SD810.

That's a shame. Products aren't always perfect for everyone. There's always those with bad experiences such as with cars, electronics, etc. I'm talking based on MY experience, not from what I've read, heard, seen, etc. I KNOW based on my experience that I can rely on my phone being at 50% by bed-time, so there's no reason for me to complain about that.
Maybe your next phone will fare better for you.

We've thought about waiting for the iPhone 8. The wife & I have yet to own an iPhone. Her only thought was she already has so many Android apps. I'm kind of the same where I don't want to dump a bunch of $ on a new platform. Get the S8 or Pixel 2 & I've already got the apps I use & have paid for.

Ya, I try to keep an open mind. I wish my pocket book could handle it though lol. Honestly I loved my LG g4, just hated the battery life. I'm kind of finding the 5.5" screen size around my liking. The only thing I hate about the s7 edge is how curved the sides are. It sounds like the s8's will have less of a curved screen. The pixel XL always send to be out of stock in the 128gb version.

Overpriced and design is horrible. Bezels killed the phone. Got the op5. Performance on par. Do t care about camera. As far as looks and feels. Op5 hands down better. Pixel was $1000 plus for.me on launch. Op5 $500 and change and couldn't be happier.

OIS wont help you with with moving targets, but improved EIS from patch to patch might.
I'm satisfied. Love it
I'm in love with this phone. I have the 8Gb version and it's so damn snappy. I'm new to oxygen os, but love all the features available, even without root (although I'm rooted). My favorite thing about the phone is how easy it was to root and of course the awesome battery life. First phone ever that I've not had to charge every day.
Very nice
I'm quite satisfied. I keep trying to find the stuff that seems to drive a lot of you crazy but I can't replicate it with my own device. Came from a OnePlus 3 which I almost regretted handing down as I really came to like it.
If I can get the hang of this camera pro mode thing I think I'll be satisfied for the rest of the year.

If you slap the same software on them (say LineageOS) as to eliminate any results manipulation due to software optimization, the OnePlus 5 should be faster and smoother due to the better specs.
All in all, I believe it's a great phone. But I don't have it yet, so I'm speaking just from research.
If you want the latest specs at a good price and great development support, the OnePlus 5 may be the best choice.
Don't care about OIS or EIS, nor about waterproofing (OnePlus did say it is somewhat water proof) since I'm not planning on bathing with the phone.
It all comes down what you're looking in a phone.
Coming from a Nexus 6, it's definitely an upgrade. Overall very satisfied.
The only things I'm disappointed about are the lack of wireless charging and the speaker placement. I've been spoiled by the N6's dual front speakers. Now I have to use headphones while playing rhythm games because otherwise my hand keeps blocking the speaker.

Just saw the specs of P5....Poor resolution upgrade!

Since our security updates will end this month, I plan to upgrade for those and take advantage of the strong T-Mobile 5G signal in my area.

My thoughts?
If you only now just saw the specs you haven't been following the news. You likely also do not understand why Google didn't go with the 865/865+ in the two devices.
For me, it boils down to which features I consider more important. Right now I'm leaning towards the P5 simply because of the aluminum body, but the 4A 5G and its headphone jack is compelling. I think in the end, it's going to boil down to "do I want to pay the extra $200 or not?"

Ive never been one of the sheeple, the people who buy into aspirational technology (people who aspire to own somehting because its new and everyone else has one), so its not even a decision for me. Im a fucntional user, if a device performs the functions i need it to, im happy. The only reason i ever upgrade devices is when one is dead, or very much close to being....
I do not get the "new device every 6 months" buyers...i just dont, i think thats insanity
Personally i look at the lines of sheeple at Apple Stores on every release and weep for humanity, and the planet which gets raped to bring people ovepriced (thanks to Apple - they are the root of all evil, not least because they overprice their products, thereby forcing everyone in the market to follow suit, because to do anythign less is to be seen as inferior, so blame Apple, i do, asshat comapny) devices they dont really need
Pretty much the forumula is: new phone = new camera that takes pictures of an even more distant galaxy, hmm very useful in every day life
Some people in some countries have way too much spare money if theyre buying new phones all the time
Im sticking with what works for me, not a corporations bottom line, thanks

I loved the Pixel 5. I think Google made a small decision to stick with full hd resolution simply because you don't notice as such if the panel is good. It's easy on the battery. It will be easy on the chipset and provide consistent performance.
Pixel 5 does not lack anything as such. The only thing i was a bit disappointed was ufs 2.1 storage. Other than that I'm loving the Pixel 5. I'll get it maybe this Christmas or so!
The more I think about it, the more the 4a5g is looking like the better deal. Only differences between it and the five are two less gigabytes of RAM, no 90hz refresh, and a smaller battery, but the battery is still bigger than the 2xl, so battery life should still be an improvement. I've not yet owned a phone that had a 90hz refresh rate, so that's not really a huge deal to me yet.
The big draw toward the 4a5g for me personally is that the screen is bigger, which would make it feel like more of an upgrade compared to the 2XL.
The materials used are also different, but I've never really been a huge fan of glass backs. Plastic was always all right with me, so the 4a5g won't bother me in that regard. It supposedly feels pretty good in the hand even though its materials are "lesser than” the materials used for the 5 back.
Forgot about wireless charging too, but personally I've never owned a phone that had wireless charging, so again, not a big deal for me yet.

I second your thoughts here. 4a5 is certainly a better handset and not much hard hitting on the pocket too!
So far with lack of reviews and having seen a few of the random videos we can get. The OnePlus 8 Pro is looking better to me. Really need to see some full reviews

I kind of agree with you here, except that I am seriously looking at going the OnePlus 8T route.

I am changing my mind to OnePlus 8 Pro too, I can go to swappa.com and get for less price than P5 with taxes. I am seriously considering going back to iPhone. Google has been using the same camera sensor hardware since the Pixel 2 came out. That means if Google ported the sofware algorithms to the Pixel 2 it would take pictures the same if not damn close to being the same.
after being a 4 year pixel 2 xl owner... the pixel 5 feels like a natural successor. Jut my opinion though
i currently use a pixel 3 because i prefer the size but im pretty much done with the pixel series. the cost is far too high and the features are less and less. the 4 had no fingerprint reader..... so i was thinking of getting a Zenfone 7. great size, great amount of ram........ EXPANDABLE STORAGE!!! but after seeing the OnePlus Nord N10, i might change my mind. ill have to see after the first reviews but it has what i want/need in a phone. google is just too obsessed with trying to either win the apple crowd, or become like apple.
maybe if they ever add features like expandable storage ill buy another pixel but the odds of that happening are not good. knowing google, theyll probably give up on the pixel line after the pixel 7 so i plan on holding on to my Panda Pixel indefinitely.
Okay i changed my decision probably.
I don't think i'll be getting Pixel 5 solely because of outdated hardware. Only if they had upgraded the camera sensors i'd have gone for it. The current sensor is at the end of its life.
I can't decide if I want to get a OP8T, OP8 Pro, or Pixel 5.
I prefer the flat screen of the 5 and 8t, the rear fingerprint sensor on the 5, and the telephoto on the 8 pro.
Get rid of P2-XL?

Just saw the specs of P5....Poor resolution upgrade!
I guess it's pointless and waste of money....what are your thoughts?

Depends on your battery. After October, no more OTA's from Google.
If your battery is good, between updates from Google Play Store and LineageOS, I think the phone
would be plenty secure. I plan to keep using mine for awhile. running LineageOS

lol Flat screen is such a bliss. My next phone will be a flat screen. I am tired of this curved look and miss touches due to the curve
I went from. The p2xl to the 5, it's definitely an upgrade for me. I love how smooth it feels with the extra ram and 90hs screen, the SD765g has no trouble giving me a great experience on the couple games I do play, (pubg and genshin impact) the battery life for me is about double what the 2xl was and I'm happy to know I'll be getting monthly security updates for the next three years. There are still a couple things I don't like. The top behind the screen speaker is just so-so, far inferior to the 2xl's stereo front firing speakers. However I don't watch or listen to much without headphones or a bt speaker anyways and it does fine for calls. they removed a feature I did actually like.. active edge, I miss sweezing to activate assistant rather than saying hey Google or swiping the corner but still not really a deal breaker for me just so thing to get used to.
