Hi All,
Has anybody found a good VNC client for the XDA II?
At the moment, I have PTvncGPRS, but I'm not desperately keen on it because the display is always fuzzy.
The alternative is a web browser with good java support, since the win VNC server has a web server built in, which supplies a web page with a java applet on it...
Anybody got any good ideas (I don't want to pay through my nose for it though...)?
Cheers!
Phil
RealVNC
What about this?
Thanks for that - it looks like a decent viewer, but I'm having a bit of trouble with it. I can't quite work out what's goind on with clicking and draging. Right click seems to be touch and hold - that's fine, but I seem to be clicking, holding and dragging things when I just want to be moving the mouse...
Can you help me with this? Do you use it yourself? Is there any documentation?
Thanks a lot,
Phil
google is a good way to find that documentation
http://www.cs.utah.edu/~midgley/wince/vnc.html
Yes, I have found that page via google myself before, but it doesn't address the issues I mentioned, does it?
I need to print PDF's to a bluetooth printer...i have tried printboy but it reformats my document and it is essentially unuseable...i tried clearview and the PDF is not visible unless I bring it into active sync first to allow it to create tags on the PDF.
Adobe Reader 2.0 for Pocket PC. I can view the document but the print button it greyed. What gives?
I would be fine with IR printing but it fails every time I fire a document.
Oh I have the Verizon 6700 version of the Wizard.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help I have been searching on and off for a week and it is driving me insane....
did you try following program?
JETCET PRINT
http://www.westtek.com/pocketpc/jetcet/
Yes i tried that software. I also tried it along with the Clearvue Pro. When I try to view the PDF in Clearvue it is blank. If I bring the same PDF in via Active Sync then it mentions that the PDF is untagged and if I would like it to attempt to tag. Once I run it through this I can see it and print.
The problem with this is that people in the field will be using this and they wont have access to Active Sync. They have to download the PDF and print on the fly.
Did you try using the adobe ppc pdf reader instead of clearvue? I think it is free. Also I think HP has some printer software/drivers. Dont know if it will work but worth a try.
Yes, I have tried Adobe Acrobat also the print button is greyed. I am trying to figure out how to activate it and have been on ADOBE's site in the forums but no one seems to know...also I tried to get the HP drivers but cant find them anymore. They say something on the site about discontinuing the drivers after Oct of 2005 or something.
If anyone has an idea how I can ungrey that print button or get the HP drivers it would be great. I can view my PDF perfect in ADOBE I just cant print.
Thanks again i really apreciate any help and I really need to get this working!
here is a link to download the hp mobile printing 4.0
http://www.pocket4you.com/freeware/index.php?vypis=jedno&id=199
Hope it works for you.
Great! I am downloading now. Thanks a million I will let you know how it works out!
hp mobile printing won't work because you're running WM5.
You may want to try this. It's expensive, but it may work for you. It has a 15 day trial period too.

Justin
Ok well I installed it but it doesn't seem to install properly. It gives me an error that it may not work properly because it was designed for a previous version of Windows Mobile. I am of course using Windows Mobile 5.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Any idea how I can get the "Print" button in ADOBE Reader for Pocket PC 2.0 active?
Weatheryoko,
I tried the bachmansoftware solution it is what I called Printboy. It does actually print but the problem is that its sends it somewhere forst where it converts the PDF. When it comes back down and I print it it completely reformats it all out of sequence. It doesn't "Paint" the way I had the report layed out...
I sent them an email this morning to ask them if they could pint me in the right direction as to how it performs this conversion and maybe that will give me insite on how to re-write my report so that the conversion wouldn't affect the content layout so drastically.
Haven't gotten any feedback as of yet from them

On the adobe site it says it works with bluetooth hp printers. Did you try to turn the bluetooth on the wizard on and pair it to the printer? Maybe you can pair the printer and phone using jetcet? Anyways these are some suggestions to try if you already havent. Good luck.
Yeah actually the funny thing is that I am using an HP 450 bluetooth printer...I can the jetcet application comes bundled with Clearvue professional (thats the only way it will print PDF as jetcet by itself doesnt see the PDF's) problem is when I open the PDF in Clearvue it looks blank...
I think it has to do with the fact it is an untagged PDF...
If i take the same PDF and bring it into the handheld using Active Sync it is tagged I can see it and print it...
It is super irritating that Microsoft didn't build native printing functionality into Windows Mobile to begin with...
I am still struggling with this...
Yes or No? I have remote controller and while it works good, it doesnt recognize the slide keyboard, idk if realvnc or uvnc will, but they're more universal and all my machines already have uvnc on them
Are you talking about a viewer/client or a server on your phone?
RealVNC's website says they have a WM viewer, but there don't seem to be any links to it and it appears to be a commercial product. I don't see any evidence that UltraVNC make a WM viewer.
There are a couple of fully workable free viewers around. Search for vnc-E4_2_7b4-arm_pocketpc_viewer or check out http://dotnetvnc.sourceforge.net/.

Here you go...
This version works fine. I've been using it for quite some while now.
awesome, and this supports the proprietary keyboard on the tp2? Its a serious pain in the ace having to pull up the char. map that this remote im using now needs
Got it running perfect, exactly what I was lookin for, thanks for the help guys
Police Scanner for Win Mo?
Ive seen it for both the droid and the (stupid POS) iphone, theres gotta be a scanner for windows mobile, anyone seen anything?
I've been making a couple posts about UltraVNC mobile over at their website, but I doubt any of the developers really have a Windows Mobile phone to mess around with it. I have the RealVNC one, pre-paid-app version. It seems to be the best. I wish UltraVNC did develop a mobile version because I can't view my secondary monitor on the VNC viewer I'm using now.
Also, just as a note, there are VNC servers out there for your phone so you can use a VNC viewer on your PC to control your phone, but I haven't found one that was always stable. This one seems to be the best bet, but now it's a paid-app.

i tried but i kept getting this error: unable to connect to host: connection timed out (10060)
i was able to connect from pc to pc but not wm to pc. host runs on Win 7 with Outpost firewall. I already allow it on my firewall and forwarded those ports on my router. if you or anyone knows the solution, please tell me. thx.
on your windows 7 pc run uvnc server, Not realvnc. It doesnt work idk why. set it up to recieve the user, pass, and to recieve remote input and then connect using wm realvnc. works on all my machines
I found this a while back it seems to work fine just unzip and copy over to your SD card then run the exe. I personally copied it to my programs folder then created a shortcut to in my start menu.
First Post by the way
Has anyone tried printing directly from the Galaxy Note to a Samsung WI-FI printer using the Samsung Mobile Print application for I need to print aircraft boarding passes and emails? If so, which Samsung model printer did you use?
Many Thanks

Thanks for your reply. But I thought you needed to have an Internet connection to use Printer Share. Can you print directly to the HP LaserJet 1200 printer from the Galaxy Note without involving networking?

I have the same printer. Is yours networked?
No need for internet connection, works via wifi, with usb connected and shared on Windows 7 (computer and Note connected in the same router). Should work with all network shared printers.

Thanks for more information. However, I want to print directly from the Note to a printer with no other hardware involved. That is why I am looking at the Samsung solution, but I would like to hear from anyone who has managed it before I buy a Samsung wireless printer.
I have a Wifi printer: EPSON Stylus Office BX30FW.
This weekend a friend tested to print on it under ANDROID (It was not a Note) and It works!
There is a free app from EPSON . It works with Ios and Android. Sorry, I can't remember the name but you can browse it if interested.
Epson Brother and HP all have apps. Check to make sure your printer is supported. HP seems to do the most.

Thanks for that useful information. It is good to know that other printer manufacturers are supporting Android.

Thanks for your useful reply. I've checked the Android Market and there is an Epson Application which supports a wide range of Epson printers and gets good review scores.
There is an app for Samsung as well: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sec.print.mobileprint&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zZWMucHJpbnQubW9iaWxlcHJpbnQiXQ..
"Samsung MobilePrint is a free application which enables to print photos, documents and web pages directly from your smartphone and tablet. The application also enables scanning document to your mobile device directly."
It seems to support a lot of Samsung printers.
Printing with Galaxy Note
I think what the OP is referring to is being able to print directly from the s memo or s note app... without having to export.
You can select print from the menu within s note/memo however it seems to only see Samsung printers.
Surely someone is working on a hack for this so we can print from any WiFi printer?
Thanks in Advance,
Dan.
Depending on your printer manufacturer they may have a standalone app. However I use Cloud Print now through Google which allows me to print anything from my phone to home printer without a pc connected

Epson or HP
Hello, I have a Mac, a PC, iPad and Galaxy Note. I am considering to buy a AIO multi-function printer from Epson or HP. Which brand is better supported in terms of compatibility with the Galaxy Note? Ideally, I want to be able to scan directly from the AIO device to the Note and print directly from the Note to the printer. The ability to print duplex and fax is a plus.

Good question, I have a A910g HP also known as 8500A plus, but never tried what you are asking for.
I will test the applications on play store during this weekend, and I will let you know if I am able to preform what you have asked for.
As for Epson printers you will have to ask someone else

I have a Brother AIO that has a great app that can do what you want. Or look for a Google Print enabled printer (HP makes some) and use the app I linked above Cloud Print.
Brother solution requires being on the same network. Cloud Print does not require being on the same network. Basically Google Print enabled printers have a built in print server
I am in the print industry and sell the Kyocera brand. Kyocera also has a fantastic app for both Android and iOS
I do print quite a few docs from my note.
I use printer share app which was free longtime ago in amazon app store. One of the must have and best app in its category.
Even at times when my pc/mac fails to see my printer, this works well.
Ps: I have brother hl- 2270dw.
@Galaxy Note™…
Resurrecting this thread to share my experience with the Samsung app which I used to print to a CLP- 320 (a Samsung laser printer) which is shared on a Linux machine. I never managed to get it to see the samba share but I was rather surprised to see that it supported IPP which was readily recognised.
Unfortunately the printed document mangled every non ASCII character (and I'm not too sure about the fonts but those are always complicated to handle in office documents). The charset problem however came as a bit of a surprise. I thought those things were behind us nowadays and that a 16 bit charset was the norm...
Anyway I'm now looking for a new printing mechanism. I'll look into Google's cloud print thingy.

Epson told me that their app supports the Galaxy Note. According to them, we can scan and print.
Has anyone tried the app PrintBot?
I have a Samsung printer and use it to print directly from my Note. Both from the special printer app and the Stock browser. Both works really well!

Hello communnity,
Id like you to ask about a widget or application for printing via KF.
Im using a lot PDFs and in need to print them.
My Multi-functional device is a HP 8500 connected to my router.
I can use it from my notebook via Wlan.
So my question is whether you know any way to use it on my KF too.
Im very curious about your answers.
Thanks
a simple search on the market (with pc) gave some interesting apps (PrinterShare™ Mobile Print)
also one for hp printers (HP ePrint Home & Biz)
Printer Share app

I have used the Printer Share (paid) app on my Android devices. It works pretty well but a few documents will not be formatted properly.
I have not used it on my Fire yet but I am pretty certain that if the Market allows you to install it (does not complain that it is not supported by your device), then it will work on the Fire.
I do HIGHLY recommend the paid version because of the restrictions on the free version.

I use an app called Cloud print, which uses googles cloud printing service. Once you have it running, you can simply share the document with the app.
Also, if you run HP's eprint, you can simply send the pdf as an email to your hpeprint address.
