Got OTA update from VZW today - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

It fixes the BlueBorne vulnerability, thankfully. I can use my phone with my motorcycle helmet bluetooth communicator again...

Nothing on me.
Anybody?

Got my update yesterday as well. Never had blue-tooth issues for me, but I only use it in my car. Everything else seems fine. Haven't had an OTA issue yet with my S7. They've all been smooth.

do u means this?
Software Version: NRD90M.G930VVRU4BQH4
this is not include BlueBorne ^^

That is what I have. Before install the Blueborne scanner showed my phone as vulnerable. After the update, no longer vulnerable. They must have patched it but not referred to it by name.

Blueborne is not a bluetooth issue. It's a devastating security vulnerability.
https://www.armis.com/blueborne/
Do you run Nougat at 1440p or default 1080p? I tried 1440p for a few days, and it was dropping frames like crazy, so I downgraded to Marshmallow. Now I want to upgrade due to Blueborne.

Just updated. Can confirm armis blueborne app shows it is patched even though update is not september security patch.

Uh, no. It hasn't been patched yet. Hopefully will be in the Marshmallow rollout, assuming that incorporates what would have been the monthly security patch for October.
Meanwhile, the detector app does not yet test for this new potential exploit.
So as of this moment, almost everyone is vulnerable.

Yeah, was gonna say... I am running Pure Nexus, and Beans was planning to put a patched build out a day ago or so... but said the patch was not going to be released until like the 5th I wanna say?
Have there been reports of stage fright in the wild yet? I'll admit I've been lazy on this one... need to go read up on how it works instead of having bloggers tell me the horrors of what it can do.

These are potential threats that are extremely hard to exploit. But since it is possible to exploit, it has to be patched. But al least it's not a troian you download from the official Apple Store that was supposed to be checked for spyware.
Zimperium has now updated its app in the Play Store to include the two newly reported vulnerabilities. (Stagefright Detector v 5.0) It does show me as vulnerable on both. I am still awaiting the new October security OTA from Google, and will retest after I get it.

Just checked my stock Marshmallow and it's safe.

Does it worth the update?

Hi I'm running Marshmallow and I dont care about system patch really. I care about my 3g bandwidth more lol. So does this update really affects performance? I have updated it to July update and didn't improve anything but changed system patch.
Thanks in advance!
On my friends device the wifi sometimes goes on or off. Mine is working perfectly and I realized battery juice fixed and hit too.

What was ur security patch before update ?
The update should be for the september samsung security patch addressing the quadrooter vulnerabilities as well as other security issues. Exynos variant will be unaffected.
No new features. I would recommend updating if possible.

G935AUCU4APJ4 with Oct. 1 2016 security update

Better late than never. It's 252.87 MB. No documentation of it yet on AT&T's software-update page, but that should be coming soon.

New update. I downloaded last night. It adds something called Fullscreen? Any one else got any news on what changed? Says security patch level is October 1, 2016. Was about 250MB
Trying to figure that out to. Cant find any Changlog for this
Turned on the advanced messaging again for me. I turned it off since it wasn't working properly. Maybe it's fixed now.

Can we still root if we are on PJ4?
***YES WE CAN!!***
I wish AT&T would give us the performance updates that Samsung released a couple months ago. We just keep getting security updates and more crap software.

You know what? I'm not sure now. I could've sworn I read an article saying there was, now the only reference I find is for T-Mobile S7's getting a performance update.
I was on rooted stock PI2 and accidentally said OK to the OTA and it sent my phone into bootloop. Had to start from scratch.
Is the current root stable enough to use as a daily driver?

November update and December update

I had to format the phone because of November update problems..now it ask again to download it and j can't see December update....should I download Nov update..will it cause any more problem..such as freezing of Google,Google Assistant,clock...i suffered from these once
Nobody can give you the right answer for that since there are few people who had issues and there are people who never had issues(I never had any issue, not on october, not on november and not on this update)
Google and gooogle assistant have general issue on all phones in recent updates of those apk-s(as you can see in users comments in google play), that's not the issue of mi a1 OS.
Noone knows if your unit will work properly or not.

Me too. I get the occasional freezes and have to force a reboot. I didn't get the December update yet and can't find an answer if it fixes these problems or not.
And, by the way, shouldn't we be getting the Oreo update by now?
Cheers
x1 !
I had december update, but i messed up my phone by installing twrp. So i reflashed everything, and now december is gone. lol,. its funnny actually. Now OTA gives me november only (which i won't install), so from december i'm back to October.
Only God knows when they will give me another chance to install December patch...
A doubt

Not true. I, and most people with issues, didn't mess with my phone at all and there's 2 big issues affecting many users here in my country: freezes and the slow internet, even in 4g (vodafone carrier users only, but not everyone, which is even stranger)
What??

Bugs...hardware issues..different network...different signal, user doing something the system..errors caused by using...it's a software, could be anything. Majority have no problems, but there are cases that do.
example:latest win10 1709 update is working fine on one machine and on the other it's cracking, on the third it's freezing, some apps are not working properly, pointer issues, somewhere there is a high cpu usage, random restarts..all that with the same hardware.
Even though most of users don't have issues, some report that their units are not working.

Manufacturers will usually not release an update for all devices at once. They usually start out at a very low percantage of devices (~1-5%) and wait for reports regarding any issues or failed updates. They then will increase the number of devices over the coming 1 to 2 weeks.
What you delete the google framework data you're esentially telling the google server that you're device has been factory reset which will usually cause you to receive any updates available but this might cause issues with system stability.
See this post from 2013:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...to-never-clear-google-service-framework-data/
conclusion: you can wipe your framework data if you want (i.e. we can't stop you), but you shouldn't. It is recommended to wait until your device is scheduled for the update.

In fact it's possible to skip one or more months and update directly to the latest version. There is incremental OTA between two versions (e.g. November -> December), between several versions (e.g. October -> December) and full OTA (e.g. July -> December).

according to my knowledge this update not only the security patch update. there are some fixes with update, thats why number goes 47.1.A.12.xxx to 47.1.A.16.20 normally if there is major update they change it as 47.2.X.X.XXX or 47.3.X.X.XX like that. but if there is a normal minor updates they change it with this time update. only with the security patch they change only the final numbers.
i think there may be some fixes.
Can anyone tell me if the "Downloading..." in the playstore has fixed (takes a long time to ACTUALLY download)
And also if 3D games (Asphalt 9 etc.) don't have graphical glitches
