Does it worth the update? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I'm running Marshmallow and I dont care about system patch really. I care about my 3g bandwidth more lol. So does this update really affects performance? I have updated it to July update and didn't improve anything but changed system patch.
Thanks in advance!

On my friends device the wifi sometimes goes on or off. Mine is working perfectly and I realized battery juice fixed and hit too.

I'm running everything stock on my s5 I got it 2 years but never really used because it couldn't read my sim but after swapping to nano and using micro adapter it could. I feel like I wasted 2 years of its life in its package lol

What was ur security patch before update ?

The update should be for the september samsung security patch addressing the quadrooter vulnerabilities as well as other security issues. Exynos variant will be unaffected.
No new features. I would recommend updating if possible.

Install a 3rd Party FM Radio app. A blog recommended NextRadio, and it seems to work well.
I just bought an AT&T S7 that was on the February security patch. I put in my T-Mobile SIM, and checked for updates, and just pulled one. It's 130ish megabytes, I'm assuming it's the May update.

It's better to check your baseband than to assume.

There was an April Security Patch Update as well. Since no one else can confirm a May Patch, it is most likely you gotten the April Patch within the recent download.
However please don't assume anything, because your post could mislead others to think there is a May Patch that they are not getting and will waste time looking for one because your post "assumed" that there is one out in the wild. Don't take it personal, there are a lot of other posts that don't provide any usable information either.

Got the update today! Checked for updates and bam, started downloading the May security update. Btw, i'm using an AT&T phone on the T-mobile network. I was also on wifi though when I checked. glad to know updates still come through.
I got it too, but did anyone catch a change log? Or is it just a straight security update and that's it?

Just checked for updates and got it. At around 49 MB, it can't be much.
Mine popped today.

Didn't see a change log but some sites are reporting a tweak to the volume and home buttons' sensitivity.
Got the update today as well. Not bad At&t.

New Software Update - 9/21/2016

Anybody else got prompted with this update yet? Can't find any release notes at this time.
http://imgur.com/UeM9RrF
I checked for it earlier when I heard about it and installed it. September security update but not sure anything else with it.
I got the notice but have not installed it yet.
I installed it earlier after seeing many on another site that did so. it's a little bit over 100 megabytes so it's probably not much more that the actual security update.
September Security Update haven't seen anything else yet.
This is a really good sign that Lenovo is dedicated to keeping us up to date. I smell Nougat soon!

Wow, I stumbled on this thread, installed Network Signal Refresher Lite app and it works for me and I just updated to the Sept Security Patch a few days ago. I really missed the Moble Hot spot I had on my Razr M.
FYI, I have the Moto Z

G935AUCU4APJ4 with Oct. 1 2016 security update

Better late than never. It's 252.87 MB. No documentation of it yet on AT&T's software-update page, but that should be coming soon.

Thanks! I was wondering when this was going to be released, especially when I saw that Google just released the November update for Nexus devices. Like you said, better late than never...
PJ4 update
New update. I downloaded last night. It adds something called Fullscreen? Any one else got any news on what changed? Says security patch level is October 1, 2016. Was about 250MB
Trying to figure that out to. Cant find any Changlog for this
Turned on the advanced messaging again for me. I turned it off since it wasn't working properly. Maybe it's fixed now.

Can we still root if we are on PJ4?
***YES WE CAN!!***
I wish AT&T would give us the performance updates that Samsung released a couple months ago. We just keep getting security updates and more crap software.

You know what? I'm not sure now. I could've sworn I read an article saying there was, now the only reference I find is for T-Mobile S7's getting a performance update.
I was on rooted stock PI2 and accidentally said OK to the OTA and it sent my phone into bootloop. Had to start from scratch.
Is the current root stable enough to use as a daily driver?

Got OTA update from VZW today

It fixes the BlueBorne vulnerability, thankfully. I can use my phone with my motorcycle helmet bluetooth communicator again...
Nothing on me.
Anybody?
Got my update yesterday as well. Never had blue-tooth issues for me, but I only use it in my car. Everything else seems fine. Haven't had an OTA issue yet with my S7. They've all been smooth.
do u means this?
Software Version: NRD90M.G930VVRU4BQH4
this is not include BlueBorne ^^

That is what I have. Before install the Blueborne scanner showed my phone as vulnerable. After the update, no longer vulnerable. They must have patched it but not referred to it by name.

Blueborne is not a bluetooth issue. It's a devastating security vulnerability.
https://www.armis.com/blueborne/
Do you run Nougat at 1440p or default 1080p? I tried 1440p for a few days, and it was dropping frames like crazy, so I downgraded to Marshmallow. Now I want to upgrade due to Blueborne.
Just updated. Can confirm armis blueborne app shows it is patched even though update is not september security patch.

Yeah, I do. Rebranded from C432. Was on C636B191 - very nice build. Now on C636B362 (clean install) and battery drains faster.

noticed no issues with battery on mine. still get 2 days of pretty decent usage out of it.
Can I move to this build using FF from MHA-L29C636B158? I have just picked up this phone and I assume FF is the only way I can get updates and hence Oreo? If appropriate is it best to use 'auto DNA' or proxy?
I got an OTA update from the first Oreo update (got that back in December, before Christmas Eve... 21st maybe?) to .363 last night. Also got last month's security patch. The update change log did not mention anything about WiFi, but I noticed that it seemed to connect "easier".
