First of all, i`d like to say that this is a great community for android users and you`ve been of great help ever since the golden era of my first milestone.
Since my first droid died years ago, i wanted another, so i bought a used milestone 2 with no battery. I ordered an original oem battery from the US and now i realize that the phone won`t recognize the battery. The phone turns on, but doesn`t charge and there is a question mark on the battery gauge.
Any word of advice will be appreciated, many thanks. Hopefully with your help i will eventually be able to bring the M2 back to life.
Edit: i fixed all issues except the battery-related one. I have an original battery, how come the phone doesn`t recognise it? I could use and external charger, but that still doesn`t replace a logical explanation.

Are you sure you didn't get a counterfeit battery? I have replaced the one in my MS2 (BP6X, datecode 2010) with another one, same year, a while ago, no issues. I realise that it becomes harder and harder to get one's hands on genuine, compatible, and working batteries - or recent Android updates.

I wouldn't say damaged.. it's probably just old and the charge/use cycles have been too much already.

I have just been through the same thing with my MDA Pro and a new, original equipment battery (at £35!) has sorted the problem completely. Hell of a relief as I was thinking the problem lay in the charging hardware of the Universal.

So, i bought the official HTC extended battery, i had read before buying it, that after it goes flat, if i took it out, i'd have 50% more power. Today, i tried that, and it was true. So, my question is: Is there a workaround? Or, do i need to take it out everytime it goes flat? It's not a bad thing, but it's kinda annoying. Thanks in advance!
No workaround although I have heard newer ROMS work with it.

I dont get your question. Are you running a stock ROM? If you are then it should work just fine. Even most custom ROMS support it. If you mean you're running and Android ROM then you have to find the kernel that supports the extended battery (usually labeled eb) and you'll have no problem. I have the extended battery and have no issues with it. I'm using Dutty's ROM.
I'm running Energy Rom, and when my phone has no power, or it says it has no more power, i just take the battery out, and bam! 50% more! and when the power finishes again, i take it out and bam! some 28% more! and i do it again, and it gives me some 3% more the next time, and then nothing.

Ah the extended batterys again. (Also posted on Q&A threads.) But here is what I have been told to do when you use an extended battery
It must be an official battery, not a cheap ebay china copy (As the second battery is usualy duff)
As you are aware, when you take battery out of mobile and put it back, its still showing a greater charge. (You see the power has gone up.) OK here is waht we do.
Run down the batt to 15%, take out and put in mobile again. Still greater than 15%. keep doing his until it is 10 to 15%. Now the trick here is to switch off and charge it up via the power point (Not via the computer) and you must charge the battery for at least 12hours.
It has NOT charged when the light is on green, do not be fooled by this. Remember your mobile still thinks its only one battery and not the two that the extender has.
It has only charged up to one battery, hence the green light making you think it is fully charged.
Another thing i was told was to re-flash/Re-set the rom when you first put in the now fully charged double battery.
The rom should now see that there is extra power (Mamps) so now you should find the power numbers go down a lot slower than before.

and the techs at Thuraya for the same problem with the extender batt on my sat phone.

I recently had to replace my Note 4 battery and have found that the battery is not available... It's been replaced with a different part number. The old one is EB-BN910BBU while the new one has been marked EB-BN910BBE...
What's the real difference? I have been struggling with charging it fully as well... Stops right around 89%. I have factory reset to see how it goes but with the new battery it seems to drain awfully quick.
Has anyone else had any issues with finding batteries? OR does anyone know what the difference in the batteries is?

i have 2 original samsung note 4 battery, both are EB-BN910BBE and they have no problems giving me expected battery lifes. you can try reset the fuel gauge by entering *#0228# in dialer and then press quick start, after the phone lids up you charge the phone until 100% and leave it for sometime.. hope it works.

What does resetting the fuel gauge even do? That doesn't make entire sense to me... does it just re-calibrate it?

just resets the reading of the battery, yes its recalibrating but after you did the process dont unplug the charger until it reaches 100% btw is both of your batteries original?

Yes both the new batteries I got are OEM. I have tried to charge the two new batteries to 100% but they don't want to fully charge. I've factory reset my phone and wiped the cache... still no dice. But then the question about the differences between the batteries comes up... IS there a difference between the U battery (which is the old stock battery from when I got the phone) and the E battery (which is the new replacement OEM one...)
I was personally told by Samsung that the U and E are region codes for the batteries designed for different models of the phone. They went further to tell me that getting a battery for a different region phone would have unpredictable and possibly bad results if used in a U.S. branded (U) phone.
The true differences I have no clue and have just started looking this true difference due to my battery is now failing and it is a U battery. Some things I have uncovered is the E variant is suppose to be superior to the U variant however, I keep seeing a pattern for those with 'older' U.S. Note 4s, particularly the AT&T models with poor performance from the E batteries. If it is simply bad luck or actual truth I have no clue. Still looking.
I had the issue buying 3 of the E version on ebay not knowing any difference from china. They worked fine for 6 months then completely died. noticing the original battery was U version and still working I found this link. I can confirm the phone occasionally reboot for no reason about 3 months into using them but since the phone is a couple years old I did not really suspect the batteries at the time.
1. Batteries wear out (slowly) sitting on the shelf. Buying demonstrably NEWly manufactured batteries would be in my opinion the trick to successful battery replacement. Maybe this is a problem for the obsolete Note 4. Bought a "new" battery today... Ad says OEM but is it going to be? And will it have been on a shelf for the past 4 years? Maybe. I will see.
2. Charger issue on an old phone? I do not know about this if it is an issue or not.

Hope of you experts can give me some tips because at this moment I can't afford to buy new phone so...
My Galaxy S5 is showing big issues to me, when its powered off and plug in to charger (wirelles DIY charging + and - to wireles charging pins on phone with using original Samsung charger, my charge port isn't working so this is my last resort, please don't judge me I simply can't afford new phone ) It bercomes really hot. Also when I power it on it becomes hot too (around 47celsius) and battery drains fast. In past I didn't have this problem, yes it was charging really slow but at the end when it reach 100% my battery lasts for two days (using greenify, and with all low settings) ...problems started two days ago. Bad thing is I can't connect it to Odin and make factory reset to stock rom so I wipe all and install fresh custom rom (XxX no limits, full debloated) from my SD card, but problem is not gone. I check out battery on my table and it is ok (also battery condition says: good).
What I can feel is not that battery is geting hot but cpu. So is there any chance to fix that? I already try several apps but with no luck
Maybe you guys can give me some tip like how to back to stock rom (and kernel) but with install from SD card as I can't acces Odin because of bad charging port....or any other tip is more than welcome as I can't afford new or used phone and S5 is still big thing for me according to its performance and other things...please help...

Replace the god damn daughterboard with the microUSB 3 port. It will be better than going further with your stupid "wirelles" charging idea which can damage the phone. Don't be that cheap. Earn more money. Why did you buy it if you can't afford to keep it running?

Well... I got 16yo, don't have adress (you never know who is on the other side of the line and whats the story behind) to even order it from your family. I got this S5 as a gift from my mother who pass away last year. After spending some time with this fabulous phone (yes, I open it and reasamble even without heat gun )...I menage to fix it.
Everyone of us got that courious technician inside and lucky to me I go to technician high school so I know the basics of safety...etc.
Now I got almost new S5 (battery lasts for almost two days) fixed all by myself wich proves power of the will and quality of components that Samsung puts inside their phones.
Long live Android, Samsung and all other open source runned phones...also want to say special tnx for one high reputable person from this forum (he insist to stay anonymous) who encourage me on private msg to keep investigation as I refuse to recive his old android phone.

This happened to me today while browsing facebook.
My phone suddenly shut down. While trying to turn on, it would get to booting screen and then shut down again. It didn't loop - I had to try each time manually.
I cleared cache and reset it to factory settings to no avail. BUT once I got back home and managed to connect it to a charger (the battery was at estimated 90% capacity), everything runs smoothly. No shutdowns, no freezes - despite the phone getting warm. I stressed it quite a lot and it seems to hold, so I don't think this is related to the "bigger" CPU.
Could it possibly be a battery issue? Could my device be misreading the actual capacity of the battery?
As a sidenote: it did crash/shutdown once I disconnected the charger, but only after 20 minutes or so when I uninstalled a running at that time app.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated, so I have something to work with and replace stuff accordingly - and hopefully not the entire phone, as I love my 6P.
It seems like it has to be connected to the battery, as it has been now holding (presumably) at 56% charge for over 4 (!) hours. AccuBattery shows the same data as what the phone reads, and now it seems that my power drain is in negative without charging the phone.
Sadly, there are no original replacements available in my country. Only cheap 3550mAh knockoffs that sellers call OEM. They do have Huawei logo, but everyone knows that 3450mAh is the only original capacity (right?)
Update: Nearly 20 hours on the same displayed 56% capacity.
Any help? Please?
No, you are wrong. Those 3550mAh batterys are the brand new ones from huawei. Those are the newest revision of the battery. Dont get the 3450 ones. If the seller is really selling a 3450mAh one, then its probably one of the old ones with the known issues.

Thanks for the heads-up. Just out of curiosity - how do you know that? When I contacted Huawei support, they did not answer me whether the 3550mah bat is a genuine product, or a farce. They avoided that question until they force-closed my support ticket without a proper answer.
First: Because i bought one and informed myself before. Then the new battery ran better then ever before. Even better then when the nexus 6p was new. Its the new batch that is better then ever before.

The thickness of the cable does not matter that much. Something you can care about is the weight. But this is something you can check when you got the new battery and also took the old one out.
To have longer battery life dont use the original charger. Use max a 5V 2A one. For example from a older Samsung mobile phone. Those have good electrical efficiency.

For the 3 years I've bee using my 6P I never had battery life issues. In fact, even now the battery is holding well, despite the stats showing that my battery might be dying.
I came to this forum section looking for feedback on what could possibly be going on with my phone presenting the issues I am having. I am no mobile tech unlike many of guys around here. I might budge then and hope that the local Huawei repair center in my city will be of more help than the official Huawei support.
