AOSP ROM major bugs fixed. - LG G6 Questions and Answers

I've seen the custom aosp roms for the G6. Great work Devs but one thing is surprising, Has nobody tried fixing the major bugs? Camera and microphone. Those are major parts of a ROM and the LG G6 IMO hasn't had a fix since every custom rom was released. I'm not a Dev so I don't know how it's done but I feel the devs can give answers to this.

Devs, work extremely hard, to give support away for free, when THEY HAVE TIME.
Oreo is next on deck, be patient, or don't yourself.
Try Dirty Unicorn, it does not have the issues you speak of on the US997.

As custom ROMs only came out a couple of months before Oreo and with Oreo now being out then they won't fix any Nougat issues. My guess is that Oreo ROMs will get these issues fixed.

Yeah i understand and I hope they make things right with Oreo. I only brought the issue up because nobody seems to talk about it. Well Thanks. I'll probably learn how to cook roms and add my effort to the community.

I'll check both of em out. Thanks

If you've seen how development for the G4 went, the initial custom rom releases had quite a few issues which were almost all fixed in the next version of android. So be patient.

Info about cm13 for the G2

Hey guys, most of us know that cm13 is in the works for our beloved G2, but I don't think many of us know anything about the development.
Do any of you have any information about how the development is going?

Where did you find the build? and is it up for the T-Mobile version?
I'm actually trying to build CM13 for the G2, launch the "brunch" command 15 minutes ago, will see how it ends.. But already tried today, ends up with an error.
Again, an error.

No, unfortunately... This time I got an error about "No private recovery resources for TARGET_DEVICE", I made some research and don't find anything explicit. I'll try more this week, but I work, so I can't do as much as I did last week-end. Also, I think @Rashed97 is the maintainer on github, so every progress came from him. We also have to wait until we have all necessary files. But I'll try again and again, don't worry dude !
so excited for trying marshmallow on g2
there's some temporary commits on gerrit, which fixes cm-13.0 build for g2.
But, as I said, they're temporary. When cm13 gets the cm12.1 features, these commits won't be needed.
Great Daniel, thanks! There is a chance that you could share an alpha cm13 with us? just for curiosity of course, I'm expecting that most isn't working at the moment
The reason no one has posted builds yet is because cm13 is unusable as a daily driver. RIL isnt fully working and I don't know what else is broken since I don't use it much. When it's stable enough, then we'll start distributing test builds.

I think we are just getting excited including me. This little phone has gone a long way. They are working hard, seems like new activity on the commits every day. I think we all appreciate the work and its hard to contain ourselves especially when we start seeing all the development activity. Seems to happen every release cycle, patience versus readiness. Look forward to the build when it's ready, I think they will give us something good.
Oh my, i want android m on my lg g2 so bad

Its really hard for the devs to know how far they are let's say they get most the bugs out but one then when they try and fix that one bug other bugs come around only to make things worse but let's hope that like last year it'll be mid November for the new android to start rolling out for us.

aicp, crdroid, and broken are all very stable.
For now, nothing beats stock for battery life, and gravitybox gets you many of the custom ROM features.

The maintainer for clark (ie. Moto X Style/Pure) has left the Broken team, no one has replaced them so our device is being dropped from their development.
TBH, this was, and probably still is, the most stable custom ROM I ever tried on the MXPE... Too bad it's not one of their supported devices anymore.

Yea I wholeheartedly agree with this. Broken was by far the best ROM on MM. Once I was on it I was wondering what I was doing with my life. Everything that didn't work on every other ROM, worked. And then I saw it was no longer being supported and it was very disappointing. Luckily the Ground Zero Roms have saved this device for me. The N ROMS from them are really really good, with nearly no problems at all. I am on Validus, but reports from all three have been overall positive.

I had tried DU at some point between January and February and...something was broken. I feel like it was bluetooth, camera. Something I used all the time didn't work so I couldn't stick with it. Without Broken though, you're right, DU would be next on the list.

3rd party ROMs now support finger print sensor?

Hello. Back "in the day" all of the available OP2 roms that weren't Oxygen or Hydrogen (-based) didn't have working fingerprint sensors or laser focus or what not.
Has that changed now? When I look at the roms today, I don't see the "no fingerprint..." disclaimer.
LAF and FPS are working on CM13. If it doesn't say not working then they are working.
The FPS is a bit dodgy but I'd say it works 95% of the time.

Oreo 8.0 Custom ROM's popping up everywhere

As I scroll through everyday threads here on XDA I keep getting amazed how fast the developers are building Shamu ROM's with Google's latest and greatest Oreo 8.0.
So far I have used only SiXROM, versions 1.1 and 1.2 and it has been very good, especially the 1.2 version, which now looks more polished. Force closes are almost entirely gone now (it random rebooted just once, don't know why), and to my knowledge with only the NFC not working at all.
I've seen also (and getting very good reviews by users) that there are a couple of more Oreo ROM's like crDroid (version Beta 2 - 18-Sep-17) and Republic of Madness ROM Oreo (21-Sep-17) with a lot more coming, like PureNexus (I guess), LOS and Dirty Unicorns. And although we are still at early stages, these builds are almost ready to be used day-to-day.
Anyway, just wanted to know from you if you had a chance to use any of these Oreo ROM's for the N6 and what you think of them thus far.
Cheers and keep on flashing.

I don’t like these kind of polls because then we’re trying to favor one rom over another. We shouldn’t judge a rom based on feedback, because every rom is different. It’s like everyone will have a different opinion.
But anyways, I’m waiting for a stable build, I know these devs are doing good work but patience is a virtue.

Using Nexus 5x since my Nexue 6 is cracked. I can say that although Nexus 5x is officially supported and "more stable" Shamu runs Oreo like a champ and is actually faster. My Nexue 5x is constantly freezing up. Can't wait until my girlfriend's iPhone gets returned so I can enjoy Pixel XL.

What About GApps?
So far I've only tried S.i.X's first Oreo build, it was looking pretty good then and it's likely gotten jmuch better. Not only waiting for more stable build, but I want GApps, I use OpenGApps. My shamu is my daily driver, I travel a lot, and I use it a lot so it's gotta be stable. Though I usually keep a copy of a good stable release build at all times in case I run into trouble and need to get things working fast. Most of my favorite devs are building Oreo for shamu so I'm sure there'll be some cool stuff happening in the next month or two. I can wait. I think Carbon ROM is building Oreo too and I'm also curious to see what OctOS might do.

one rom...

Is there a reason why this phone after having all the source material released to us we only have 1 rom? Before all that was released we had so many people super excited to get started on porting roms, saying the only reason we don't have anything is because essential hasn't released the source yet. Well it's been months now and only 1 rom has come out and I think 1 kernel. Did all those people talking about porting end up selling their phone and moving on or am I missing something.

Development is picking up faster then you think, it takes a while for devs to get everything all worked out, especially since this device has a/b partitions, and as with any device there are roadblocks, but worry not, there are more then a few devs working very hard to bring this device into the realm of custom ROMs for all you flashaholics. Patience is the key! ?
I second Resurrection Remix. It's running flawless on my PH-one. Touch screen lag is soooo much better than stock, stock camera app still works, and full screen apps work. Same features as Lineage, but a lot more customization.
@hellot1M
Lineage has 2 roms on here and is even up to 8.1 and there are plenty on the aforementioned discord there you can find RR, Xenon, PA, Uber, and AOSiP.
There is also github where you can build yourself and share, but it looks like discord is the best place to look atm.
I remember when all ROMs were on XDA. I checked out Discord but it's so confusing to find what you're looking for and see reports of bugs

It's really quite easy to find the ROMs (and other files / links.) in Discord, similar to XDA there is a search button, from there on Discord will ask what your looking for (links, usernames, files, etc.) So typing "has:link rr" will show RR links, "has:link twrp" shows TWRP links.
As for bug reports you can just ask the people in Discord that are running the ROMs you'd want to try. I'm currently on RR and it's very stable.

XDA used to be the best! I think the reason for the shift is because the amount of complaining and nagging for OTAs was just too much. Not to mention the amount of negativity here is insane...
