Hi there,
is Android 7.0 or 7.1. already out via OTA for XT1622?
I didn't found an official image to download, only custom roms based on Nougat.
I'm on a custom ROM and I want to switch back to stock with root, because no custom ROM satisfies me at this moment.
When I tried to delete apps from Stock Marshmallow, it caused a boot loop even if I didn't touch any system relevant apps.
Thanks for all serious answers.

Short answer: OTA updates are not released according to the moderators and admins on Motorola's official forums.
<Short, slightly OT rant>
The ZIP file you may find on XDA (as well as several other places online) is apparently an unauthorized leak from the soak test Moto was conducting. It's caused a major headache for the unfortunate people maintaining those forums, going by the explosion of N-related queries and the resultant chaos.
That said, the update runs like a dream and it's quite likely that it will be the final version.
</rant>
My advice? Wait till the OTA arrives for stock users (should be sometime within this year if Moto's blog is to be believed) and then restore to stock and root.

Excellent advice. Just bought mine and was looking into this.
Hey guys! Some very talented developers have been working on unofficial releases for a while already, and I am unsure whether to go for their takes or wait until an Official version is released. Any predictions on when this might happen? Or should I just void my warranty and go for Vache's build? Thanks!!!
I might also like this. While Motorola says they will release Oreo for Potter, they seemingly haven't provided any timetable for that. I am a bit hesitant to install a LineageOS nightly on my daily driver, but I would love having the option, especially if it turns out that Motorola botches the Oreo upgrade.

I have been using Vache's/fAIyaZ 7.1.2 build for some days now. Only found one bug, Skype wouldn't manage to access the camera for video-chatting, but I found a solution for it (activating Camera 2 API from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/themes/potentially-google-camera-port-t3684264 ). Other than that, everything works perfectly (and a lot better than the Moto built-in tracking suite they ship the phone with).
Applying an unofficial fix to an unofficial port sounds a bit problematic. Do you think it would be possible for Vache/fAlyaZ to fix this in their port somehow? Or would it be more of a gapps thing? Or neither?
It seems so insane to me that there is no official LineageOS for Potter yet? I couldn't have even imagined that it wouldn't be released quickly when I bought the Moto G5 Plus - I though it is such a popular phone, so well reviewed for the price, able to be unlocked, etc. How can it no be better supported by the LineageOS team?
Sorry to necro this thread, but Oreo has now been officially released for Potter, after seemingly forever. What are the chances of getting an official 15.1 build for Potter any time soon?
I know Vache's unofficial build is much loved on here, and I think there's a 16.0 unofficial build I've seen flowing around as well, but some of us would rather go with an official build if one is available.
Don't mean to be a d*ck, but just follow the trending topics on the forum and you'll see where everyone has flocked to. At the moment I believe there's no need to program Lineage for Pie, when we have one extremely good AOSP based version online. Install the Pie version of the system that can be shot from a bow and never look back... Vache did a great job for as long as he did it, and a couple of other contributors too, so <3 thank you
now everyone seems to be somewhere else, that's how it goes
all the previous versions and knowledge gained from them kept being passed forward to ports from the next version of Android as well, so you'd have to look at Lineage Pie. Lineage16 seems to still be too raw for Potter, which means you likely won't see any official version soon. With Pie out, everyone's efforts turn to it, so you can see also that the 15.1 thread is pretty much dead.
I would like to update my S4 to Lineage OS 14.1 and I have an older version of TWRP 2.8.4.0 recovery on my phone. What is the best way to upgrade to the newer ROM? Do I need to update TRWP recovery in order to install Lineage OS 14.1 or will it work with the older version? Its been a while since updating my phone could you someone point me in the right direction.
Update,
I've tried updating to a newer version of twrp via the app store and downloading the new update. For some reason when I browse from the file from twrp cannot find the img file. Any idea of why this is, I save files to specific directory where I can find them.
Thanks
I am in the same boat, however I am currently on cyanogenmod 13.
Where did you find v14.1 for jfltespr?
FYI I set it and forget it and try to update to the latest greatest yearly.
I am under the impression that there is no active maintainer for lineageOS however it appears to have forked.
so far I have found these options:
OCTos: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-sprint/orig-development/rom-team-octos-oct-n-t3537546
Vanir & Commotio: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-sprint/development/rom-vanir-commotio-05-30-2017-t3614632
I am torn, I want the latest (and acquire the security updates) but I know little to nothing of either of the two above;
plus I am very rusty in trying new ROMS.
would be interested to see what you come up with
I did come across this, but not sure about installing it. I'm on a older version twrp, didnt know if the latest version is required to install some of the newer roms.

If you use twrp recovery, how were you able to update it? It keeps failing for me.
i am not so sure that the link is for a jfltespr
seems to be for a different device jfltexx (the international version).... see http://www.lineageosrom.com/2016/12/list-of-devices-getting-official.html

Yea I know, I kind of figured that.
As many of you probably already know, the situation with TWRP and the OnePlus 5 has been anything but straight forward. Due to decryption issues with the first few official builds, a few great devs stepped up and released custom versions that have been more functional and far less buggy than the official release. One of the big issues has been OTG functionality, but I think blu_spark's TWRP now has OTG working properly.
I currently use FreedomOS as my daily driver, but unfortunately, NevaX1 hasn't been able to recommend a specific TWRP build thus far, so I've been frequently checking the TWRP app for an update, and earlier today I saw that there's a new official TWRP build for the OnePlus 5, 'twrp-3.2.1-0'.
So I was wondering if anyone is currently using the new build, and if so, have the issues been resolved, or, are there any new issues with this update?
Also, does this updated TWRP play nice with OOS v5.0 [Oreo]?
Any help would be appreciated.
Merry Christmas Eve!!
Tried it, file names were a mess and my internal storage showed up as 0MB a few times. Will not recommend.
Many users, i included, recomend blu spark twrp .8.61
official is not working
use bluespark
Awesome. Thanks for the quick replies everyone. I'll stick with blu_spark's TWRP then.
Merry Christmas!!

That sounds like an encryption issue, try formatting data
I have the unofficial LOS 19.1 currently installed. Other than the lack of TWRP, I'm satisfied with it. But I see there are two other options available. official and crDroid. Is there any reason I should switch to one of those two? Are there differences in the recovery versions? If TWRP was available, I'd just make a backup of my current ROM and give the other two a try. But as it stands, getting back to my working current version isn't that simple.
Why do you have unofficial?

Because it came out first and I haven't been given a sound reason to switch. Why fix what ain't broken?
I like to use the official version. They provide weekly firmware updates.

To each his own. Personally, I don't care about weekly updates. Unless an update fixes something that I use, or it includes a major security update, I don't care about it. Manually updating every couple of months does it for me.
I am also in unofficial build for now but the official thing is making me wanna try it...but should we just flash it and format data or should be flash recovery provided too?
I would follow LineageOS guide. You will use something other than TWRP. You then use one of LineageOS. This one is quite limited but looks nice (not very important). But I don't need all the features of TWRP, I don't understand it anyway. LOL
