Latest update - G5 Plus US - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Does anybody know what the latest software is for the retus channel of the G5 Plus? I went online to ask a Motorola representative, but per the norm they said that "we don't provide dates" and "we are working hard to deliver quality upgrades to eligible devices globally." I'm currently on the March security patch, but I've heard people talking about the August one, so I was just wondering if that's available for the US variant yet. Thanks all!

Normal devices NPNS25.137-33-5 with May 1, 2017, Security Update... Although some phones on the Verizon network have gotten various other versions that are specific to the Verizon VoLTE/WiFi calling low volume issue.

Thanks for letting me know. I think I'm going to flash stock, install 33-5 from recovery, and then install the Verizon update.

I think the 33-5 update won't let you flash the Verizon specific updates. As I recall, the 33-5 is for at&t and other networks and for retEU devices too.
If you are on Verizon, you may be better off flashing the NPN25.137-33 or NPN25.137-35 updates, which should then give you the NPN25.137-43-5 update with the Verizon calling fixes. Any other build (including the May 2017 35-5 patch) may not have the calling fixes until a later update. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-G...izon-very-poor-call-quality/m-p/3777525#M9883
As I understand it, the update stream for Verizon devices currently is:
NPN25.137-33 > NPN25.137-35 > NPN25.137-43-5 (March 2017 security patch)

I don't use Wifi calling or volte, so it wouldn't be an issue for me. Then again, I was on a 2014 phone with a 6-month-old security patch before I got the G5 Plus, so I guess I'll hunker down and wait for Oreo.

Just bought mine a few weeks ago from Best Buy and it came with retus NPNS25.137-35-5 and May 1 security patch.

Pfftt... I love mine. 5+ hours screen on time, and I have never had the issues all these people talk about with low volume, WiFi problems, etc. I have had zero issues with it, in fact, I've only rebooted it when it's got updates since I bought it. This phone has been rock solid.

Phone is the best one I've had. So much better than any flagship phone I've ever owned. As for lack of updates- Oreo is coming this fall... Can't get much faster than that unless you have a pixel.

And feel sorry you've had so many issues. It seems the satisfied outweigh the "not so much". Only reason I responded was that it's good for folks not to be dissuaded by one bad apple.

They're doing a super job. In the little time I've had this, I've really noticed the little things such as their Xmas boot animation. I'm aware that some don't like it, but I think most will like the little touch of 'class'. Personally, I'd like to see them really surprise me with a Superbowl or BCS bowl animation but I recognize that will only appeal to a few.

So I guess that still means January for the non-US models. Not sure why Motorola has shifted attention to the US so much in recent weeks after the initial launch, but I suppose we'll have to see how this all pans out.

It's almost like Motorola is a US company or something!
I wouldn't worry too much unless you got one of the phones tied to a carrier. It'll come in time.

Heh I'm not worried, everything always comes in time ... Motorola obviously didn't launch the phone in the US and I'm just interested in the turnaround since then from the planned US launch in January. It's been a bit irritating to see all the 16GB stock suddenly appear in the US when it's been hard to get any in the UK, not to mention accessories ... anyway, off-topic.

Hopefully. I've just flashed Blur_Version.14.14.16.falcon_umts.Retail.en.US over a UK moto G
It gave some warnings during the flash process but worked ok. Not sure though which will upgrade to KitKat first this or Blur_Version.14.14.16.falcon_umts.AWSRetail.en.US

...I haven't installed the update yet because once I do, it won't be retrievable. I'm looking for a way to extract it from the phone, but the phone has no root, ergo, I can't reach the /cache folder. I can't find any conclusive answers on how to retrieve it though without root, so I think I'll just install it for him.
Sorry folks, but without root, I don't think I can do it.

Patience, guys. The rollout is happening in phases, and for now only 1% of two specific sales channels get the update. They are the guinea pigs, so to speak. Once everything is fine, the update will be approved for more users.

If Dolphin browser had the ability to block apps then I wouldn't have a problem updating to 4.4.2 as I know you can get flash to work with Dolphin, so it's 4.3 for me.

LOTS of Questions !!
1. Have you registered for the Soak Test for this phone ? (Is this a Soak Test update or an official one ?)
2. How is the performance of the phone ? (Benchmark comparisons, Gaming)
3. Any improvement in battery life ? (I know it is early but you must have felt something)
4. Screenshots ? Please ??
5. Can you make a Youtube video review for this ? (You'll get lots of views !! )
Yup...

Yeah, totally snappier and quick--very excited because to be honest, I was a little disappointed by the phone's performance. T-Mobile, MN, USA.
On Verizon wireless in us no update yet thanks for the heads up however
Same for me. Much snappier feeling. It took quite a while to load some apps initially with 5.0. 5.1 is absolutely better. I'm an android Dev and have access to a lot of more expensive phones and am using this for its amazingly great battery (way better than my 2013 moto x . over double for my use ) and to hold me over until 2015 moto x. Not a bad phone all

If you have the H815 you might as well update as with the official unlocked bootloader you do not have to worry about losing Root Access.
I for one have the US991 though, so I refuse to do any updates that *could* patch whatever *might* be in my launch firmware that could be used as an exploit.

[Sprint] No update yet?

Per the title, it seems that we Sprint U11'ers may be off the list for the latest update from the original 1.03. Can anyone differ based on receiving it?
We Sprint users are usually a little behind the US Unlocked version when it comes to upgrades. They will come, just need to be patient. When they do become available the Sprint forum is always on top of it.
