Cannot upgrade SM-A710FD to Marshmallow after factory reset - Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Today I did a factory reset of my phone after it started getting a little bit slow. I connected my Samsung account and downloaded the backup I saved previously before trying to upgrade to Marshmallow, but now, every time I try to update manually, I get the "processing" failed error. This is the first time it has happened, since I managed to download the Marshmallow update normally last year.
I've been googling for hours in an attempt to find out what I had done (wrong), because I'd rather not manually flash it myself since I'm afraid of messing it up. I thought it could be a conflict of the model which was published in Asia, and me living in Europe, but since I managed to update it normally once, I don't see how that could be a problem all of a sudden.
I apologize if a thread like this has been made, but I've really searched all over the Internet and could not find a way to resolve the issue. Could it be something related to my Samsung account? I can normally log into all Samsung services after having reset the password yesterday, via PC and phone, but when I try to update the software, I get the error repeatedly.

SM-G870A Failing to Update Past 4.4.2

Hey everyone!
I've got an interesting predicament here. A little back story: a while back I installed TowelRoot, and then Xposed Framework. Everything was kosher until I got an OTA update (I believe the NG3 update) and it killed the root. No problem, I'm fine without root. But now that Lollipop has come out, I want to update but can't. My buddy applied the same root, but did not do Xposed. The difference between our phones after that OTA update: mine says "Custom" with an unlocked padlock at the Samsung boot screen; his does not.
I read in another thread that someone took their phone to Best Buy and the guys at the Samsung booth were able to fix the problem because they can pull updates and apply them via USB. So we went there yesterday and they had no problem getting Lollipop on my buddy's S5 Active. Mine, however, would not take the update. The Samsung S.M.A.R.T. tool they use on the PC was saying that "my device is running an unauthorized operating system", even though I have never flashed a custom ROM.
When I go into download mode, the Knox flag does not appear to be tripped. I've also performed a clean factory reset with a data wipe and that still didn't allow me to update. Whenever I try to update, it downloads the entire 4.4.4 update (which needs to be done first, before the 5.0 update) and it starts to install, failing at 25%, without hesitation, every single time.
I've attached a couple of screenshots that I hope will help. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Have you resolved this issue, if so, would you mind sharing how you did it. I've been combing the net for a few days trying to discover what is going on and your issue appears to be exactly what I am experiencing. I've read about flashing back to my stock firmware using Odin but I cannot get into download mode, when I try and get there, the phone only says "recovery reboot" in blue small font on the top of the screen and reboots.
Thanks
Ladies and gents, I apologize for abandoning this thread. I forgot exactly how I got to get the phone to update, but if I recall correctly, it had to do with me putting the phone in download mode, downloading the original firmware and using ODIN to flash it. Afterward, the "unlocked" padlock symbol disappeared and the phone was able to get the OTA update from AT&T.
I have since moved from an LG G4 to a V20 and that is what I am currently playing with. I also have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (which T-Mobile replaced my G4 with when the touch screen stopped responding). I was quite stoked to find out that there is a way to root it and (seemingly) unlock the bootloader, so I'll be toying with that this weekend to see what I can do. I'd love nothing more than to just wipe that Samsung-ified Android and install a vanilla Android or CM.
Good luck to anyone who is still trying to fix this issue. Again, my apologies. I'll dig through my archives and see if I can piece together what I did to get it going again. I still have the S5 Active. Best phone by far. It's a great backup phone for when the new stuff goes kaput.

This device is locked because of an abnormal factory reset note 4 :crying:

Need help with this guys.
Here is what happened. First of all I purchased this phone from a Gumtree user a while back. (stupid I know). Anyways 2 weeks after purchase i noticed my imei number wrong in the phone as opposed to the back sticker. I searched around on the net and some people had the same imei number popping up due to prob rooting or unlocking (my phone is not rooted btw and it is unlocked but i have found out that it was originally locked to EE). I left it for around 6 months before i realised i needed lollipop and i was stuck on Kit Kat as the phone would not update,
So today I noticed someone online showing how to update through Kies using the serial number etc on back of my phone through recovery without Odin or root. I did this and it updated my phone to Lollipop and my imei was back to normal ... The happiness soon died off when i realised my phone would not let me pass the Samsung account stage. Just keeps saying: 'This device is locked because of an abnormal factory reset', and if i fill my details and press enter it gives the following: 'processing failed'.
My phone has updated to the latest 5.01 lollipop but I cant use it. Is there a way i can remove this or login with my details? E.G. by rooting the phone or downgrading to another firmware via odin or something?
I have tried everything. I've spent a whole day on Youtube and the net (I prefer to seek a prob usually before asking) and now finally i am resorting to ask for help from you advanced users.
I hope you can help me. :'(
I have fixed the issue. Well sort of. pending.. For anyone that wants to know..
I reverted to android 4.4. (i used three uk firmware)
downloaded slidesych, that then propmted me to open either a browser or samsung app store.
I clicked app store and then searched for any app to download. It then asked to login..
logged in and pressed back to the point of it asking for details. inputted my login and worked..
Went in to settings and removed the lock.
Now to update it again back to 5.1.1.
Update: Today flashed the stock rom for my phone via Kies by recovery mode and entering serial on the back of my phone. All is well to the point of my phone updated to lollipop but my imei has now gone back to square one. Nonetheless at least I have Lollipop

Unable to add an security method

Hi guys,
So, a few days ago I decided to tryout One UI Beta 2.0. A few days it worked perfectly fine, but today, it said my pattern was wrong. So I read on the forums that more people had this issue, and that it was because of the beta. So I downloaded the original firmware for my device from SamFirm, and flashed it in Odin. Phone booted perfectly and I got through the setup progress. Then I wanted to set up a pattern but it wouldn't work. I need to register my pattern 2 times like always, but after that it ask me that I need to back up my pattern, so when I click continue, something comes up for a second that says please check your network connection. And then it just doesn't add it. I tried to install firmware 2 times now with Odin, but no luck, I keep getting the same message.
The first time when I installed the firmware when I got from the beta, I forgot to disable my google and Samsung account, IDK if that may caused it someway.
Edit: I updated apps in galaxy store, and now it doesn't say check your connection, it says backup completed. But it won't change to pattern for some reason. Stays on swipe to unlock.
I hope anyone can help me with this problem,
Kind regards,
Crewz
Flash your original firmware (not the One UI 2 beta) and after ODIN says done or successfully or whatever, unplug ya phone and boot into recovery and do a data factory reset. This should fix it.

A lot of people had this issue and it was fixed 3 days ago. After beta 2 I also faced the same issue. Dont do factory reset. Just install the third update which was emergency update to fix this specific issue. Download it from beta thread.

Hi,
Okay, so with samfirm I downloaded my firmware and installed it with odin. So i tried the emergency update. I am trying to install beta 1 atm ( I read on the forums that you need to beta 1, 2 and the emergency ). but for some reason whenever I am trying to install it, I get the error "E3005 (LINK) has unexpected contents. Error in package.zip Status 7" I have no idea what to do anymore....

Hard Brick after S7 update?

Updated with AU March update and reinstated TWRP and root - all good. Did a backup of this - all good.
Then restored Havoc OS3.12 and ended up hard bricked - unable to enter recovery or bootloader and a new error screen.
Anyone seen this and recovered from it?
O.K, gave the phone 24hrs sitting in the corner to think about things and gave it another go. Managed to fluke getting into bootloader and reload stock O.S. Re-establish TWRP and quickly install ProjectSakura to get away from the Samsung tricks and traps. Seems to be getting harder and harder to avoid falling down the rabbit hole with every Samsung update Thankfully this phone isn't elevated to primary phone status and never will because it is crap.
Thanks for sharing.

Unexpected Update: N950USQU8DVB1 2022-02-22

My Verizon Note 8 just received an update (N950USQU8DVB1) but I had thought that the phone was out of support and was not going to get any more updates. I don't see mention of this one on the Verizon update page. Does anyone know what this is about and why we are getting an update after the support window is over?
Hmmm. Just got the Verizon update also..it does show on web page now as available.
No idea why this came in a year after support ended...lots more than just security updates it seems. Glad I kept it
Can anyone confirm if this update made voLTE available?
Does anyone have the files available yet to download and flash?
I don't see them on sammobile.com yet, but I would like to get a copy if anyone can help.
This updated broke my phone. I updated last night and now I have a "No sim card" message. I took my phone to a repair shop and they couldn't fix it. They suggested maybe a flash/roll back, but they wouldn't do it for me. My phone was perfectly fine before I updated. Good times..............
Try booting to recovery mode and wiping the cache partition. My friend had a dual sim version and sim not found message happened to him, wiping cache and double checking network was set to auto fixed it for him.
Another method may be trying to connect to windows and download Verizon software assistant and select repair phone. Takes a while to download everything so be patient until it finishes. I recall it took a half hour. Hope it helps.
