I have recently rooted my phone and have had battery issues since. What happens is using my phone in a normal temperature environment my battery gets hot and puts my phone into hot reboot mode until I take out the battery and put it in front of a fan to cool it off. I've tried using different batteries and my phone still does it. Any ideas on what it may be or should I in root it and take it to Sprint? I have the most recent sprint lovers evolution beta 2 updated my kernel and radio also. Thanks for all/any help I can get..
Sounds like a phone problem, I've run quite a few roms and haven't had that happen, even in 90 degree+ weather. I would take it in to sprint
We're comin from a pure power source.
Thanks! Ps I've heard that sprint recently gave the ok for techs to work on rooted phones. Anyone know the accuracy of this claim? I heard it from an employee at a corporate store but he was wrong about another issue we had...
Just leave S-Off, in case they take the 2.3.3 OTA in-store. I usually have S-Off w/ stock ROM, no custom kernel, so they can't blame rooting for battery issues.
I had overheating issues with my battery on standby and random times, so I took it in. They gave me a new battery, problems persisted. Took a screenshot with the temperature shown, took it in. They ran more tests, blamed the motherboard, and gave me a new phone.
Be warned, you may get a replacement with 2.3.3...
I would flash a different rooted stock rom anyway and see if the problem persists. I have had this problem before and flashing a different rom fixed it.
Hello, I have got a Note 3 N9005 with android 5.1.1 Blisspop v4.0.3 Nightly ROM installed. Now I don't know if it's just coincidence or so but my batterynlife is just terrible since I flashed a new ROM. I already own this phone for a year btw so that could also be the case. I just took it of the charger and then I checked and it said it would last for 2 HOURS! I have been going for about 20 mins now and it already dropped 20%. I bought a new battery, but that is just worse (I did read that you have to use and charge a new battery a few times and it would get better). My battery has no bulge. Is it the battery that's bad or the ROM and should I then flash back to stock firmware?
Wow, wait, let me get my crystal ball...

Most AOSP Roms are overclocked up to 2.7 -2.8GhZ. (Normal Stock clock speed is 2,3Ghz)
Use any Kernel tool from Playstore like Kernel Audiutor to change this to 2.,3 Ghz (I was also wondering but since i found out that AOSP based ROM are overclocked on note 3 I imdetialy changed back to Nornal Clockspeed)
Afte this your device should be cooler and you batterylife also longer...

Apart of what already have replied you, you could also try downloading any battery monitor app to try guessing if it's an app or it's the system itself who is draining your battery. In case it's any app, the solution is easy, try reinstalling it, if it's not, then you should try making wipes and reinstalling the rom or try another rom.
Hope this can help you.
What were you doing with the phone in the 20 minutes? Something is definitely wrong if its drained that quick. Can you post battery status and wake locks.

so this topic was being discussed in the RR 7.1.2 official thread as many/some of the members there are having this issue. moved here as not to spam the thread there and deviate from the main topic. can anyone advise on that? using original charger and cable. getting between 200 and 700mah. and hope this isn't a deviation from the topic, but any progress or workaround the shutdown bug when phone reaches <= 20%? or any other percentage other than 0?

Hello,
I'm not aware of the slow charging issue. I haven't updated my wife's N6P yet as I'm waiting for Pure Nexus developer to release 7.1.2
Just... There's no progress or workaround for the early shutdown issue. The batteries have likely degraded prematurely. People still under warranty get their battery replaced by Google/Huawei...
Cheers...
i have no shutdown bug thankfully, but i can confirm that ever since i flashed DU Official 7.1.2 rom , charging has slowed down quite significantly.
i do not know why but i defintely noticed that charging has become much slower than when i was on 7.1 hmmm

that's what happened on RR as well. not all but some members are mentioning it. so i started this thread, in case someone would have the knowledge how to fix it. there was a thread for a thermal mod or something in General, but then a warning on using it arose. so... hope someone can give some solution

i know about that thermal mod , but i dislike using such things.
i only use custom kernel (flash kernel) and that's it.
i thought it was only me, but seriously now that i see this 'slow charging on 7.1.2'
i straight out remembered that how over the last few weeks charging my phone has become so slow.
it used to charge it super fast.
now i'm wondering whether i should go back to 7.1 =_=

i came all the way from MM. missing xposed and this charging speed...but i do have faith someone will point us in the right direction...hopefully
Is anyone using accubattery? Seems like a good app telling you how much your battery has degraded over time and your charging speed. Don't know how accurate it is.
My phone has been bone stock since day one. Regarding slow charging , I have not ran across it. Maybe issues for phones running custom roms .. etc.
You said original cable and charger. I'm an electrical engineer and flexible cables are notorious for wires microfracturing which is considered an open path. Because they are moved around, bent, twisted, and the bundle of tiny conductors began to have breaks in some of them which will reduce it's total ampacity. Hence charging very slow. Kinda like bending a piece of aluminum back and forth eventually it breaks in half. Have you used a new Virgin cable to eliminate it as the culprit? That is most certainly the number one cause of slow charging.

I did try other cables with sane output. Thing is i tried MM and fast charging is there. Come to 7.1.2 it gives slow charging
i just reverted back to 6.0 RR and these are the results. so i guess it is rom based. hope that helps
and this is on stock ROM
so it's a rom issue apparently. just flashed screw'd latest build and i am getting charging rapidly. couldn't be happier
I don't want to blame ROMs for giving phone issues , but the official OEM software that are built for the phone works. Once you modify builds, kernals , etc...the phone will turn out different, thus will have issues. I have been using bone stock 6p since day one. The only issue i had was the 7.1.2 beta lol ...

Try a different kernel if there is one.
already moved to Screw'd and all perfect there. no charging issues. just elementalX kernel and top notch.thanks
I'm on latest stable DU 7.1.2 and haven't noticed a slow charging issue. As for the early shutdown bug someone in this section posted a solution a week or two ago that he claimed worked for him and allowed the battery to go back to draining below 20%. It should be easy enough to find if you look for it. I don't know if it actually works because I haven't experienced that issue either but most people report that the issue does go away if you change the battery.
I have had this problem since 7.1.1 on pure Nexus. I clean flashed to 7.1.2 on pure Nexus yesterday and still not receiving rapid charging. Any thoughts?

Hey Everyone
I downloaded the latest Nougat Firmware (France Version) for my SM-G928F
I did a clean Nougat install with Odin (after I wiped everything) and after that I flashed the TWRP Recovery with SuperSU. Now I have experienced that the battery life is really bad, it's like the deep sleep bug I had with 6.0.1. a year ago....
Here's a screenshot of the battery history
https://www2.pic-upload.de/img/33267464/Screenshot_20170602-012352.png
Is there any solution for this issue?
Same for me, on stock with no root i have a bug with deep sleep, i have lost about 10 % in less than 4 hours of deep sleep but idk why. Using XEF Rom too...
You need a kernel that fixes deep sleep issue. I recommended dr ketan nougat rom + kernel it comes with or khongloi rom. Both are polished nougat roms that have extra features with the S8+ port.
If you dont wanna flash a custom rom just flash an arter97 kernel or a khongloi Vx kernel.
I'll try out another stock rom from my country since it's finally released now. But I'm sure the bug does appear again. I really don't like custom kernel or roms, only if there's no other way... Maybe I go back to 6.0.1. Stock, had no issues there with Custom Recovery and Root.

All samsung phones have it. Its just sometimes due to irregular movement the OIS module gets jammed and has trouble trying to stabilise the picture. It usually only happens ever so often.

Guys, Do you have problems with Charging? After nougat even wen WIPED phone etc. I have problem witch car charger.
With WALL CHARGER on fast charge i can use my phone normally and i can see how fast it charges. In car if i am using Maps it charges verry slowly, sometimes even discharging. With MM it was charging Fast. in 30mins 10% with maps turned on was normal, now it can charge 1-2% or even dicharge 1-2%... Tested Few chargers, original and not;....
Same here. My battery is not very good after update.
Same here. Sh*t Samsung - not enough 1 year delay spreading firmwares when there's a new one already presented and only 18 months firmware guaranteed, there are always more problems and bugs. This battery drain is a problem or bug each time become worst! I think Samsung, never more - or a lot cheaper chinese who are the same or better and not so fragile (like new htc, xiaomi and so on) or iPhone that we've always new firmwares just in time at for, at least, 4 years guaranteed.
I'm pissed off with this sh*t Samsung...
Hi
I am on this phone since it released so i think that i am not a noob in flashing this Phone but now i have a realy strange Problem. Maybee my Phone is dead
I am on BaikalOS since 3 Weeks and have installed @tsongming recomended thermals from Sergey. It was working flawessly since 1 week.
Today i charged my phone form 30% to 80% and disconnected it from the charger. After this it was really hot Feeling in my Hand. I removed the bumper and was waiting too cool down. After 2 Minutes it started rebooting from itself but stucked in bootloop with a scary sreen. I see the leeco bootscreen and it went to White and black lines over the whole screen. Same Picture is when i try to enter recovery mode. So now its in Fastboot mode since 1h and its colder but i cannot boot into recovery or System (bootloop)
Should i try to Flash a stock Rom in Fastboot? I dont want to Damage the phone by myself so i am asking before i will do more.
I hope the motherbard is not dead
When i plug the phone to PC in Fastboot i see "Android Bootloader Interface" from "LeMobile" in the devicemanager.
Fastboot reboot comand works and AIO Tool Shows "fastboot device Ready"
Hope i can Rescue my phone.
Best regards Daniel

Sorry to hear about your phone: To be clear the thermals wouldn't cause that type of affect. In Fact, the Sergey thermals are exactly the same thermals that are already used inBaikalOS...They are native to that rom. So if you were using that Rom and you flashed the Sergey thermal you actually didn't change anything by adding the Sergey thermal. Because it was already being used.
Also the Sergey thermals actually have heat and battery protection measure built in : See my breakdown of thermals here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PXD91uBEs0hYvU1tMBq6Ld9Jc7Mm1FZxzwtsLwcmR6o/edit#gid=0
Here is the Github: As you will see the thermals would not cause this type of issue: https://github.com/BaikalOS-Devices...mmit/fc2ef2622ee4dbcbc4c6be512ca11825a37a4626
Now what could cause an issue is if you used a kernel manager and overclocked the cores with the MSM thermal turned off or set too high. But that would have to happen manually. Another potential cause is the usb C cable or charge block caused a short.
Have you updated the Rom recently, did you have Delta enabled, there was an update yesterday, that made my mother's phone hot. So I migrated her to Lineage.
Can you take a picture of what your screen looks like when you have the issue. and post it here.
---------- Post added at 10:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:49 PM ----------
If your issue is the motherboard, of course I hope that it isn't. I found a replacement board here:
This is much less expensive than what they were charging in November when I needed a new motherboard.

When you get the message take a picture and I will be able to tell if its a hardware issue or not.
There a symptom that can be resolved by using Qfil, and the other symptom is a solder short. Which technically could be fixed by resoldering the chip connection, and you would not need any parts. unless the heat damaged your LCD.

Thank you for your everytime very long and good reply
I know that BaikalOS and the thermals couldnt be the reason of damaging the phone. It was just for explaining what i have done with the phone.
I didnt upate the phone since 2 weeks or later, dont know. I wanted to update it yesterday and before i wanted to charge the phone a little bit. I think the fault was to use the original cable and fastcharge block..... but my wifes phone was charging with this setuo since an half jear so i didnt think it would damage it. Now i Know it better
I unplugged it at 85% and it was really hot. After 2 minutes it rebooted itself and was in a bootloop.
As i told i flashed the 23s yesterday via fastboot and know the strange screen only apperars when i try to boot into recovery. (i tried at first to boot into stock recovery that didnt work. After that i flashed TWRP 3.2.3 via Fastboot and i isnt working too.)
If this is a Hardware issue i am thinking about buying a new phone because i the le pro 3 is over 2 jears old and the battery is going to be bad faster and faster. So i was thinking about to change it for an month. Also the screen is showing an jellow circle in the left upper so i wanted to change it too.
When i would change this 3 things of the phone i dont know if its worth to do that when a new poco f1 only costs about 350€ direktly via amazon.de

Oh I am sorry, that is definitely a hardware issue. In fact, it is the same exact thing that happened to my older now a paperweight X727. Sorry for the bad news.
Its possible that one of your solder connections melted, and you may be able to repair it by disassembling the phone, taking out the motherboard, remove the heat shield, add flux and solder and bake in the oven for 8 minutes at 400 degree Fahrenheit. Its called a reflow.
https://www.win2uit.com/reflow-soldering/
Here is a link where someone had the same issue and repaired there phone using this method. : https://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g3/578393-why-my-lg-g3-boot-looping-blue-screen-2.html
I am going to try this method myself at some point, but I need to order a new lcd first.
I broke the LCD when taking apart my old phone.. If successful, I will create a how to tutorial since they are practically nonexistent. I have never tried it before, so it will be trial and error. But, there is no risk that old phone is just sitting in a box collecting dust.
I used to work with a guy that was a master at repairing computer motherboards using the reflow technique, I need to try a locate him, its been years since we last spoke.
Again, sorry for the bad news. I hope your replacement phone is something amazing. Although, many people are waiting until an inexpensive phone with a snapdragon 855 comes out. For me, the Poco phone still seems like a wise choice for $300 or spending a little more and buying a One Plus 6. Of course there is always the option of buying phone with a snapdragon 710 for under $300.
Take Care.

Take Care.

Thank you for the reflow infos.
I will try it when i have some time and if i am able to put the srceen of without breaking it
About a SD855 i was thinking about it too but i need a new phone fast because i need it for my work. I hope the poco will be nice, but i think so because there are many developers working on it.
I also don´t think that there will be an SD855 for about 300 to by and a new Poco F2 or something else isnt in plan. Maybee the first "Cheap" SD855 will come out in the end of this year.
There are 3 other le pro 3 in my family so i will read and write here too

Congratulations!
One thing about Xiaomi, they build quality devices and they are large and successful, so they aren't going anywhere. ( Like out of business anytime soon)
Plus they have an army of developers, with a Xiaomi device you have practically every option available when it comes to numerous versions of stock based Roms (which personally I love) or the multitude of available Roms.
The SD 845 is about 50 to 60% more powerful than our Leeco's and at its extremely fair price, I think its crazy to even consider spending more, unless you must have a glass back or a Amoled screen.
When you get everything setup, please let us know what you think about it. Thanks.
Hi just r recived my phone now. First impression is what you say its pretty fast and not bad quality. Battery etc i will tell you later. But the speed is really insane ?
Hi again. I finally rooted the device now and installed MIUI 10 stable. Now with magisk frankokernel servicely and naptime the battery is incredible good. 0,2% per hour in idle. Very cool. I only charge the phone in my car while driving with Android auto. It's enough power for a day. (I am driving about 1h every day. With maps, Amazon Musik, blitzer.de etc running.)
I have 2 Sims inserted and always lte, GPS high and Bluetooth for mi band 3 aktiv. Very impressive.
Also with MIUI 10 notifications are great. Never missing a WhatsApp etc. I think there is nn to flash a custom rom this time ?
So I would say it's a nice phone for this price. As it has no anti rollback and warranty also with open bootloader. The redmi 6 has anti rollback so it's not so friendly. Also it's not worth to buy a mi8 or mimix3.
Very happy with the new friend.

That is a an awesome review!
I am leaning toward the Poco myself. Although I was also considering the Mi8 Pro, I don't think its worth almost $200 extra for the Amoled screen when the POCO has everything else...spec-wise.
Thanks
