Hi, I used to be an old and loyal user of Sony Xperia, now I am passed to the Dark Side (Samsung xD). I see that there some little difference on flashing and installing Roms, but basically it is the same.
I just wonder know if there exists such thing like a generic or unbranded firmware (maybe global) for the S8 and where I can get it. I am from México and my carrier is Telcel, so I am tired of all his bs bloatware they install.
Thank you
Just use pm uninstall -k --user 0 name.apk to remove the junk
Go to Updato.com and search for firmware for the G950U1. The XAA version is carrier free. It contains NO carrier bloat and is generally much smoother.

No, you just have to do it with a PC via adb. Also instead of name.apk you have to use package name (like com.xyz.zyx, you can list them with adb shell pm list packages). G950F clean European firmware has XEU CSC.
G950F and G950U are different. U version uses Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU while F has Samsung Exynos
Nice, I will check which option convices me more, thank you.

Hey people,
I have recently bought a G950F in a pre-sale from Vivo, which is the carrier I use here in Brazil.
I hate those carrier extras (apps, splash screen and stuff). Every time I buy a carrier branded phone I flash it to get rid of that stuff. That's what I wanna do with my new S8.
I went to Sammobile site and could not find a specific ZTO ROM. So I took notice about multi-CSC ROMs. I was then searching for a multi-CSC ROM which fits my phone, and I found this one: https://samsung-firmware.org/download/Galaxy S8/60y7/UFU/G950FXXU1AQCC/G950FOWT1AQCC/
This is for Uruguay (UFU), but also is exactly the same ROM I have in my S8, and included ZTO. Since it's for a different country/region, I flashed it (using CSC file, not home_CSC), hoping I was debranding. But I was not, my S8 is still branded.
How do I unbrand it? I have read that I must flash a OXM CSC ROM (it also includes ZTO) to change the original CSC of my phone, since it may not have changed because it was the same that it already had. Is that right?
I will try now an Argentina ROM (https://samsung-firmware.org/download/Galaxy S8/98v5/ARO/G950FXXU1AQDG/G950FOXM1AQDG/) which is OXM CSC.
Samsung was pretty strict about what carriers were allowed to install this time, at least in the US. Try to see if you can just uninstall the carrier specific apps, on my phone nothing was in the system partition so they could all just be removed.

Not here in Brazil. I can uninstall some, but not all carrier apps.
What bothers me is the awful splash screen. I can't remove that.
When I had a Galaxy S5 with a 3uk or ee splash screen if I remember correctly there was a oem folder or something similar which got loaded everytime irrespective of what rom you flashed, maybe that's the case with branded s8's?

I don't think so. I had my S7 flashed to debrand it, and that did not happen.
Yesterday I flashed my S8 with that argentinian ROM I have mentioned (https://samsung-firmware.org/downloa...G950FOXM1AQDG/). It looks ok now, without carrier splash screen and bloatware.
But sometimes I get a notification from AutoPreconfig, asking me to use new apps and configurations from my new service provider. If I open the notification, it says that to use apps and configurations from my new provider, I need to restore my phone, all my user data shall be lost, etc. I can press "ok" and nothing happens.
Why does that happen?

How did you get it? I only see SM-G950 available in Brazil.
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
What i did was this:
1. get you phones imei:
go to dialer > dial *#06#
take a note of your imei without the /01 at the end.
2. go to phone dialer > dial *#272*(your phones imei)#
3. choose which csc you need and install it.
your phone will reinstall firmware with the new csc region you choose.
done.
Just done this to my S8 SM-G950F and switched from GLB(carrier) to XTC(unbranded) csc.
hope this helps.

If you want to disable apps you can purchase Samsung Package Disabler works well to disable apps you don't want.
Sent from my SM-G950U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
its so sad, i cant find an unbrand tutorial to make my s8 fully Samsungish without carrier stuff
how to remove bloatware from my device as facebook ,google photo etc... !??
Here the deal bro.
1. If your phone is under warranty, u can use BK manager(BK disabler) + MDM Extention 2 (Plugin) to DOZE bloatware, apps and unimportant service. It cost 2-3 dolars.
2. If your phone is out of warrenty (or not warrenty anymore), u can root your phone then delete bloatware by using Titanium backup...
I use Adhell2 but it is discontinued and it s been superseded by SABS. Both use Knox so they do not need root. The can freeze unwanted apps and they block ads too in all apps except yt. Higly recommended.

I guess your phone is either korean or some asian stuff, either way if you are most likely not in that region and your card wont be accepted. I got a n935F from Malaysia (CSC=XME) and it has 'samsung pay malaysia' installed on it (you can see it in 'galaxy apps' app if you want to update things), google pay says device not compatible, the preinstalled version not surprisingly fails to accept my australian card despite samsung pay is rolled out here. I cannot install samsung pay australia either... to sum it up I think it wont work, as you cannot root the phone to change things as it trips knox and renders samsung pay useless.
your only chance of using spay if you are based in one of the countries where the FE is officially rolled out (eg Korea, Cambodia, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam) unless samsung rolls out the phone in other countries and issues a software update with more CSC (unlikely to happen IMHO)
it's model SM-N935F/DS (N935FXXU1AQI5)
It is from one of the aforementioned asian countries.... so as mine
Try this:
1. Check your CSC and download lastest firmware by Samfirm and Flash via Odin. Samsung pay available in Original firmware.
if not:
2. Use this information in SAMFIRM: Modem: SM-N935F , Region: XXV . Im sure the Samsung pay available in XXV firmware
https://uphinhnhanh.com/image/T89kP0
This is a multi csc, all firmwares for the n935f(ds) are IDENTICAL. Short codes to change sales code/csc region dont work. Even if samsung pay vietnam is installed you cannot add any other cards than cards from vietnam plua u have to be in vietnam when the card is being added and verified into samsung pay...

yes, but that's the fact, on the pcb it says g950u, and the chipset is detected on PC qualcom, but the cellphone information says g950f and when dial * # 1234 # shows the results like this
but if I use the dial code * # 12580 * 369 # it will address the results like this
then when I use the 'phone info' application the results are like this
So its a950 u. With 950f stuff on it. Probably unlocked and setup to run on a international carrier. The bootloader version of the important one. And what i would go off of
and this test results from 'miracle thunder' addressed the results as shown below
like this
I blinked using the G950u and G950u1 all failed, luckily my cellphone didn't bootloop,

Thank you all, now I am grateful to upgrade to Android Pie, apparently, I have to use Odin version 3.1.3
Android 10 has been released for EE UK. (not multi-CSC ufortunately)
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s10-5g/firmware/SM-G977B/EVR/download/G977BXXU2BSL2/306142/
It's not a multi-CSC region firmware, so only flash this you already have the EE UK CSC on your device.
It's a good sign though, hopefully we'll start seeing more come through anytime now! :fingers-crossed:
All I'm waiting for is any multi-CSC firmware to get it, any country will do. Then it's flashing time!
I flash it 2 days back as soon as it dropped out on my Phone from Australia csc TEL without wiping the phone. And it's working just fine but have to restart phone 1 time because of the lag other than that all else is great.
Yea, you won't be on TEL CSC. It's not a Multi-CSC firmware.
If you go Settings > About > Software Information >
Under Service Provider SW version, on the bottom line, if it was Telstra and/or Multi-CSC, you would see TEL/TEL/TEL, indicating Telstra for all 3.
But I bet you don't see this, and you're seeing EVR or something for one of them.
Yes, now i have EVR,EVR,TEL. But what's the harm in it if we want to enjoy android 10 before it relasese for our Provider?

CSC is “Consumer Software Customization” or “Country Specific Code“. Region specific customisation. It's all in the name really.
You get no carrier or region specific network or phone customisation, such as VOLTE (quite a significant thing now), no wifi calling, and issues with other things customised for the Aussie network (4G+ etc). The phone will work as a basic S10 device, but you do miss out on things, other than those I listed, as I've tried before as a test.
But if you simple want to have a play as a test, and are willing to miss out on the more advanced features of 4G+ etc, then that's your choice.

No, Volte is gone after flashing this firmware. But i am using a Optus prepaid sim card and volte never worked with it anyway.
Android 10 out for 3 more new countries but unfortunately all 3 are non Multi-CSC regions.
Got it from this morning. Vodafone branded. Love it. Very smooth

Can you guys check if the sammobile is working for you for s10 5g firmware download? It is down for me just for 5g since morning. Anyway i just check on samfirm app and android 10 is available for BTU CSC.
BTU downloads slowly using Frija for me, just did a test. Note that BTU is another UK CSC. Just like the other I posted in the OP, it's not an Aussie compatible CSC. We still need to wait for OXM multi CSC.
EDIT:
Sorry, BTU is OXM - this will work for us! I'm grabbing it now using Frija!
I know its muti that's why i mentioned it. Samfirm was working fine for me. Yeah, give frija a try if samfirm is slow for you.
Checked for update on my s10 5g on Vodafone after seeing this thread, updated to 10. Been waiting for awhile to get my update also received update on my xperia 1 today.
The experience on samsung seems better and more noticable update.

How?
The 986W version isn't going to be released until Jan 5th so you can download the 986U version from this site and install it with ODIN. Don't do this if you don't understand how to use tools like this, especially if you like your phone...

Sorry for the late reply. I found the Rogers CSC by googling "Rogers Note 20 ultra Rogers Stock firmware"
I downloaded the whole 6gb file, but only used the Home_CSC from Rogers and used it with ODIN after I got the ATT update.
Have had no issues at all, and One UI 3.0 is a blessing.
