no, the built-in speaker that you use to listen to a call. by the way, since you are asking about using a headset, might as well tell me if it is possible TQ.
Any sounds from the rear speaker will go through the wired headset when it's plugged in.

Thanks, but what I really want is to use skype like normal talking to the phone without headset or speaker phone, possible to do that? Is there a registry hack to tell skype to use the earpiece instead of the loud speaker?

Earpiece to use with Skype
Hello
I got a Xperia1 and always tried to find a way to use the earpiece with VoiP software (including Skype).
One way is Nimbuzz but today I found by conicidence the following:
I installed the Adoresoftphone.com software on my WM device. When you run this software once, the "click" from the screen taps disappeared.
When I ran Skype, I got the call right on the earpiece.
If you go back and launch the Adoresoftware (which you installed previously), click on "use speaker" the screen taps click returns and the Skype calls are transmitted via the internal loudspeaker.
This could be a way to use the earpiece of your device. Should work on all WM devices.
If you are interested, try it
So what is the best way to handle the situation when you get a call while driving, and HD is mounted and being used as GPS? I tried the speaker phone option, but the caller can barely here me. Any better options? Thanks

But in this case, to here GPS voice instructions, I would have to ware it all the time?
i would imagine so? wouldn't you want that? you would be able to hear the instructions better...
BT headset works diff.
It´s great with a BT headset. I use my phone as GPS and it uses the speaker automaticly. When i get a call i just put myt headset on and take the call like allways.. The GPS software mutes the speaker while youre speaking and then aktivates again when your hanging up...
No problem..

Thanks. I figured this out: bluetooth headset works differently from bluetooth headphones. Headphones replace the speaker, so IGO talks through them. But headset does not - just what I need. Thanks a lot

Actually it is a well known problem and isn't solved yet, as well as the sound mute when screen is off after timeout
Sent from my GT-P7500 using xda app-developers app
When iam on VOIP calls like viber, skype etc the handsfree mic not working so i have to keep the device close for using built in mic (handfree speakers working normal). Anyone with the same problem?
Yes same issue when I'm using Skype for business. A reboot works but it's annoying to reboot.
Hi,
I know that Tasker/Automate does not work correctly with the OP5 dialer (Oxygen OS 5.0.2).
Are there any API for developers who can help turn on the speaker during a call?
Or maybe someone knows how to solve the problem with Tasker/Automate?
I want to try to write an application that will automatically answer the call and turn on the loudspeaker.
It can be very useful in the car.
Regards,
Adam

In the latest Open Beta, this is already possible. You have to activate "Game mode" in settings, and at least if any app is running in the foreground which you have selected, the call will be redirected to the speaker.

Thanks, it works But that's only half of the solution, because redirection to the speaker is only for incoming calls.
I need to turn on the loudspeaker automatically for incoming and outgoing calls.
I want to write hands-free application for drivers.
I found another problem yesterday. I need to detect when an outgoing call is not answered (e.g. call was rejected).
Any idea?
---- edit ----
It must be possible. The Google assistant, after the command "call with speaker to <contact>" automatically switches on the loudspeaker.
Does anyone know how to solve my problem?
...
Does nobody have any idea?
Or maybe you have contact with people who create OxygenOS?
...
