Request for 64 bit kernel for redmi 2 - Xiaomi Redmi 2 Questions & Answers

Hi devs i notice there aren't any 64 - bit kernels for Redmi 2/prime. I realise we have 64 bit roms now (like pirej's) so i would like to request for a 64 bit kernel for our redmi 2.
Thanks

It's not that simple to make a kernel, there's alot of headaches when we need to add some features, also, redmi 2 1gb dosn't run great on 64bit OS (At least my variant). I only build kernels for the most optimized rom for my device, that in this case is: AOSP 8.0.0.
If you have a 1gb redmi 2 I would recommend you to switch to AOSP 8.0.0 for a while, but if you have the 2gb variant it's better to use a 64bit rom.
Thanks

There are no 64bit roms either, without rom there is no need for the kernel..
I really dont know why no one makes 64 rom..??
As far as i know.. only @s.sawrav made some test builds, but i dont know why he abandoned it too..

Mhm.. 1 GB, and it runs my 64bit rom better than the 32bit, its snappier, smoother..

yeah but my experience with it was not so great which was why I posted this thread. but thanks anyway, I'm using s.sawrav's AOSP 8.0.0 now, runs great for an experimental rom:fingers-crossed: maybe expect kernel for 8.0.0 sometime.
thanks

I think what pirej mean is there are too few 64 bit, and only a few user use it, so only a little demand. Sorry for my bad English

Which gapps to use?

Should I use arm gapps or arm64 gapps?
Snapdragon 615 CPU is 64-bit so you should use arm64 GApps.

Dont use arm64.
all roms for MXP are 32Bit.
arm is the right choice

I didn't know that as i'm using the stock ROM, weird that custom ROMs are 32-bit when the CPU is 64-bit capable. Isn't the stock ROM 64-bit?
You can use the arm64, but some games and applications do not support, better use arm, to avoid compatibility problems
Hardware is 2 GB and so it does not matter whether RAM is 32bit or 64bit. Only if RAM exceeds 4 GB does it matter a lot!

Will Xiaomi finally give us official nougat?

MIUI 9 has been comfirmed for our phone.
In my opinion they should give us android 7 or at least 6. Any chance for this?

Nope it won't give 6.0 Or 7.0
Our Device Cant Deal For handling Miui marshmallow Or Nougat it will be lp or kk.
Better to buy a new redmi 4 prime

If you want to solve that, just make a kernel and *boom* fixed, ajust CPU voltages and make optimizations, I'm using my kernel and I get 4 to 5hrs of SOT, and my device dosn't heat up more than 50°C

Hello bro.
Fget miui .I have redmi 2( 1 GB )&official miui is on 4.4 KitKat .
So I decided to give up miui and came on XDA.
Thanks to XDA developers and all members who really worked hard without asking a penny for making best custom ROMs.
Bro.Here is my personal choice.
1st no.-- Pirej's Arm 64 ROM.(wip).
Its stable. excellent camera.Best of best battery back up.no lags etc .
2nd no--- AEX extended ROM.its like vanilla ice creams with toppings.(fully customized). Stable .
3rd no-- mokee & lineage& aicp.(battery back up is OK and heating is still ther)

That kernel is outdated, when zetsubou releases a new version I will update my kernel, becouse I need a kernel to have a base, since my kernel's are basically optmized versions for performance or something more

I just said him to use your kernel because you mentioned in your post, that you were getting good battery backup with your kernel.
So, I just mentioned the name of it.

heating problem in 64 bit rom

I just flashed AICP nightly. It is 64 bit official ROM. My phone heats too fast and then slows down.
Before this another 64 bit ROM gave same problem.
Is their something I can do? Flashing another kernel or anything else? Please help...

64bit ROM isn't recommended for 1GB RAM Lenovo A6000 because it will cause lag and slow your phone.
Use 32bit ROM for better performance.

I strongly recommend using RR 32bit Official - Latest update July 10. My experience with it is beyond expectations if you're with 1GB variant like me. Battery life lasts 16 hours with 4G data always on.
However, with 64 bit, I got battery drain issues and poor performance mostly in browsers. So, I switched back to July 10 update of 32bit RR.
Just my honest opinion.
Cheers!
I recommend you to use AOSP Extended (7.1.2). The rom is super smooth, stable, and has very good battery backup. It's the most comfortable nougat rom I've used so far. RR is fantastic but I think Aex is perfect for a daily driver like you.
PM me if you need a link.

No need to download md5, just the ROM.
20170716 is the last x32 bit update, I believe.

That is very difficult because our stock kernel is made as 32 bit by samsung. If you know anything about kernels, you know that if you are creating a custom kernel, you are just modifying and patching the stock one, or in our case the msm8916 generic kernel.

Hey. Please stop with this. IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. If you want it, do it yourself. But it will be really hard.
Has it remained impossible as of July 2020, or has any progress been made, by any chance?

Sorry for asking but just wanted to clear my doubt, I have a lenovo tab which has 2 gigs of ram and 16gb internal storage but it runs 64 bit more smoother, even it has only 2gigs of ram, currently it is running android 8.1.0
Then why this device will hang.

What are the apps that make the best use of 64bit custom roms?

Please suggest some apps that make best use of 64 bit custom roms .. thanks in advance!
Honestly... Google camera is about it, and it's quality is questionable compared to stock camera.
The whole "64-bit" thing is seriously over-hyped... other than the few apps that are 64-bit only (of which, only Google Camera comes to mind) I don't think you will see a noticeable performance change in apps that have both 32 and 64 bit versions.
Don't get me wrong, I am glad developers got 64-bit OS's working on this device, any advancement in custom ROMs is awesome and the devs deserve a lot of praise because I am sure it was hard work.
Am I right in thinking all the Oreo ROMs are 64bit? And you just flash in the same way as any other ROM?
