Good fast rom that doesn't stutter with good battery life? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've literally tried 80% of the roms for this phone. So far, not a single one offers a fluid experience with good battery life. I'm not wanting to go back and try all the news versions just to remain disappointed.
Many of them come to a screeching hault and CRAWL when using Facebook Messenger which... makes absolutely no sense. Switching between apps is mostly not fluid and where stuttering occurs.
Currently running Lineage OS.

Stock Nougat works well for me. Tried lots of different custom roms, each of which comes with its own issues, but the Stock Nougat appears to offer stability, decent performance and battery life.

Are the latest 11.x versions based on Nougat? Are there any bugs in it I would need to know about?
Thanks...

Stock nougat would be the best

DU discussion you can find at devs-base.com.

After many trials and still with a bit of studders here and there. Using slim6 with handbag supersu with Xposed. Functional minimal and stable. Hopping this is my daily driver until I upgrade.

Im being told I cant install the newest OTA update because I cant downgrade from my current 7.1.2?

Reflashing stock over custom ROMs

This is probably a dumb question..
But is it possible to flash the system.img from stock over a CM 13 rom and keep user data? Or a combination of the various IMG files?
I'm just having a lot of instability issues with the nightlies and don't want to have to download the 35gb of music again now that I'm on 2mbs internet :crying:
I had gone completely stock including relocking boot loader - agree - non stock ROMS are less stable.

Appears I may have found the answer in this excellent guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
I am wondering if anyone can confirm if Google Music would still have all it's downloaded music? Or would flashing write over that, as they are protected/hidden/encrypted files?
Best guess
Going back stock will make it factory fresh
I.e. Bye bye downloads

Maybe don't use the nightlies and just use a more stable ROM? Your problem seems to be with nightlies being too unstable, well, that's the name of the game with nightlies. Maybe go for one of the other ROMs in the forum that offer much more stability? Won't be stock-stable but it will be pretty stable...

You're probably right. I'm just a little surprised that the Redmi Note 3's unoffical version of CM 13 was 10x more stable than the unlocked Google Nexus phone. Not blaming anyone or thinking I am owed anything. I just assumed since it ran so well on the RN3 that it should be near perfect on the N6P.
Any ROMS you reccomend that? Any reason not to just go stock+root+xposed?

AFAIK last CM snapshot (release) for 6p was in April.
If you want a stable ROM for 6p, choose one that is based on AOSP and not to heavily modified.
I've been using Pure Nexus ROM for awhile now and I find it very stable, if you find a bug and report it correctly, the dev is sure to try his best to fix it.
He also releases an update every month at least to include the security patches.
Stock ROMs can have bugs too and sometimes fixed in custom ROMs, they're usually more optimized too
+1 for pure nexus rom and xposed

Need testers for AOSP-CAF 7.1 for Athene

As title said, I successfully compiled AOSP-CAF for Athene and I'd like to know if somebody is willing to test it! I'm next to buy my own Moto G4 so I can't test atm.

Someone told me that Audio & RIL aren't working.
If you can confirm that, I'll be glad
I'll post a new build very soon tho, but if you are willing to test that one, it'll be great!

Running your UltraCAF builds as a daily driver, it's really close to stock and has OMS. Have not been using it long enough to know whether the battery life is good. But so far I'm getting better life than on other ROM's.
Will it work with a G4 Plus?
I'd like to try the ROM.
Sure it works. Maybe I'll push an update today.

Well not all really, for example Omni has his own kernel sources, and the best performance for me is given by Omni for this device.
On my X2 xt1097 the performance between Los and aosp based is the same.

If you're looking for a 7.1 ROM, try out dirty unicorns. They are not on XDA, but they have a Google+ page and a website with downloads for Clark. It is one of the most stable ROMS right know for this device. If you wanna stay on marshmallow I'm pretty sure Tru pure is still a great ROM, and you probably wouldn't wanna change.
I've gone back to stock with this device as every custom rom that I have tried has had some issue or another, making them unstable. The Brazilian stock nougat TWRP backup that is available on this forum is working surprisingly well on my device, an XT1572 being used in the UK.

None of the ROM'S do gestures as well as the stock gestures work, such as waving hand to wake the phone..etc..but they still work fairly well. Dirty unicorns also has the other moto gestures such as flip the phone to silence among others.
+1 for dirty unicorns. I'm running on their latest official release and its pretty good.
The latest build of stock 6.0.1 + Root + Xposed.
Stock... pure, untouched stock is the best for stability and speed, no doubt about it.
If you mean what CUSTOM rom is best, BrokenOS for MM or Dirty Unicorns for Nougat... Both are good, but neither one is as stable as stock.

Rom stock vs custom rom

What is the best custom ROM for the lex727?
What ROM is better custom or stock?

Ask us, that how color do we like. S821 devices are monsters in performance, customizable is the most important thing for me. Stock ROM is fine if your target is battery life. If you don't like stock interface ect., you can check customs. Ex. I like AICP.

AICP compare to stock aboutn battery???. I use Lingage 14.1 but battery is very bad compare to stock
Ofc depends of usage... For me it's aprox. 6,5 to 6h, sometimes less depends of build

OTA. You can update using the built-in updater located at under System > Updates. Personally I prefer to update once or twice a month, you can choose whether you want to upgrade frequently or leave a certain time gap between updates (recommended since more change logs = more improvement).
I've been using this ROM since January and the RAM management is far better than Pixel Exp/Resurrection Remix. It feels buttery smooth. SOT & battery performance depends on types of app usage (audio/video etc).

I have only used Pie roms (RR, Pixel Experience & LOS) after switching from stock OS. Resurrection Remix had so many customizable options but it seemed too heavy for me, and the battery backup was a lot lesser. Pixel Experience was great though, I chose to stick to Lineage OS due to personal preferences.

Although I do have some complains, Lineage OS doesn't let you disable/turn off a particular sim if you're using a dual-sim phone. I liked that feature in RR (as well as stock Oxygen OS). I rarely use my other sim but staying connected to network drains a lot of battery for me, disconnecting it physically is a lot of work.
Just moved from stock to Pixel Experience. Smooth as, and no bugs yet.
