OK, I played with Titanium Backup and removed some Samsung apps like S health... Now I am stuck at boot loop and phone wont start. I am on stock rom 6.01 rooted. tried everything I could read:
- installed TWRP - did not quite work, gave me an error "is not seadroid"
- installed CWM - I can boot into it, but not much I can do to fix the boot, I tried wiping the partition cache and dalvik, but not help
- installed root again with stock recovery, nothing..
If I install the latest version of stock firmware, will I loose my app data? All I care about is to preserve my notes from ColorNote I read somewher that if a rom does not have userdata img, it wont wipe. Does the stock firmware have that? I am just looking for a way to get back in, backup stuff, and then reflash properly.
I tried going the adb route, but nothing there either. In cmd it says now unlock your phone for the pull command to compete, which obviously I cannot do.
Any other options to save my ColorNotes and Pictures?
OK, I was able to execute:
adb pull / C:\Myfile
This copied system files pretty much. How do I copy the app data or personal data - that's what I actually need
Got lucky...
I had to flash the latest stock firmware, but because I was running it anyway, just not the latest security patch, I the system ended up upgrading and all my files were preserved. It is as if I simply got the monthly patch.

I cant make any changes to my phone. Every time I reboot it reverts back to the state it was this morning. I'm on CM7.
My phone was crashing today, so I decided to do a wipe, however on reboot everything reverts back to the state it was this morning.
I tried doing a nandroid restore using TWRP. Restore completed successfully, but everything reverts back to today's state on reboot.
I tried wiping everything in TWRP, but on reboot everything is reverted as if i had not done anything
Thinking TWRP was the problem i installed clockworkmod and did multiple wipes, but on reboot everything reverted
I have tried doing a Format system, data, etc and no matter what everything reverts back on reboot
I tried re-installing CM7, but again everything reverts back
I tried installing CM9 and it would not boot at all. I then re-installed CM7 and when i rebooted everything reverted to today's state.
Even if i uninstall an app, remove widgets, or anything, on reboot everything reverts back
When I try to wipe using system settings, I get the following error message "Invalid Path: null"
At this point I'm out of ideas. I want to do a full wipe and do a fresh rom flash. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
One more detail. I set the alarm on the phone for 7:00am last night, however the alarm went off at 6:30am which was the time I set it to the night before. I assume the phone rebooted on its own during the night and set the alarm back to what it was the day before. Thanks in advance if anyone has some insight.
No idea what the hell is going on with the phone.
Full wipe and flash the official factory images onto your phone with fastboot. They are here. https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images

I didn't try fastboot yet. I'll try that when I get home. Thanks
I just performed a wipe via fastboot and tried installing a rom via fastboot. I got successful messages, but open reboot everything reverted back. At this point I don't know what to do.
Installing a ROM via fastboot? What exactly did you do?

I actually just did the wipe via fast boot then installed the rom via clockwork. I performed the fastboot -w command.
I also just flashed Twrp again. Mounted the SD card, deleted all files on the SD card. SD card showed full capacity. I then unmounted and remounted and all files returned. I dont get any errors in clockwork or twrp yet they are unable to do anything and have it stick.
Within the rom i mounted The SD card and deleted all my files in windows. I took about 15 seconds and everything looked clear. I then unmounted and mounted again and all files appear. Its almost like i don't have write access to the phone, but there are zero error messages during deletes and wipes
Only thing left to try is stock screwing around with a ROM / cmw etc and flash factory images with fastboot.
Sounds like it may not work but try it. Was your device encrypted?
Can try a fastboot OEM lock and unlock and flash back all factory images. If that don't work you're Sol I suppose. Could try odin but if fastboot flash factory images dont work I don't see that working either.
It sounds like the sd card becomes read-only
So I did hours of research and can not seem to find anyway to permanently remove Awesome Beats from my Nexus 7. I have searched these forums and evrything I try, it still keeps popping up. I just want it gone so I can try a new audio enhancer. Any help is greatly appreciated.
please help
- go into Superuser/SuperSU and drop any root privileges granted to Beats
- Boot into custom recovery & make a full Nandroid backup
- Dirty flash (no wiping no factory reset) the SAME ROM you started with.
If you don't like the result, restore the backup and do things your own way.
What this will do is nullify any changes you made to /system since the time you installed that specific ROM. If you changed kernels, it will also put back the original kernel that was installed with the ROM. If you de-bloated your system or "froze" any apps, this will re-bloat and unfreeze. So depending on what you have done this may roll back more than just Beats. If you are running "rooted stock" this will also unroot the /system partition.
For the future, there is a way to get around this problem - you make a full backup before you start modding. You can roll back easily if you have backups, and not easily without.
good luck

I used the word "any". "any" includes the case of "none at all". keep moving.
BTW I have absolutely no idea why you would have both superuser and supersu on the tablet at the same time.
good luck - I'm done.
To expand on what bftb0 has said, if you are on stock, then:
Get the stock image,
extract system.img,
backup device (muy importante!), and finally
flash using: fastboot flash system system.img
Do not wipe data (factory reset).

Yup.. Reflashing is the best way to clear up those files.
So I decided to try and flash Ubuntu last night... I booted into recovery made a backup 15min and 2.5 GB later it was done... wiped flashed no go would not boot... so back to recovery I choose my restore file... system says it was successful but when restoring the data it fails... I'm on twrp 2.5 ...then I tried to just restore the system when booting up I get that static image you see on cm flash every 5 sec but never boot nor goes inyo the boot animation...is there anyway to use this restore file... I just need the data part.. I have messages that i need to show my lawyer and numbers that I need... TiB won't restore my messages either....

You will need TWRP 2.6.3 / PhilZ / or a newer CWM that supports adb in recovery (not sure is 2.5 does)
First off, all of your pictures and other stuff are stored at "/data/media" or "/data/media/0" and are not "wiped" unless picked. These are both accessible in recovery, and you could do an "adb pull ....." to get those files to a PC. At this point you should have your pictures.
Sounds like Ubuntu messed some things up, and when you restored "/system" only it won't boot because of missing data. I once had a problem like this bouncing back and forth between 4.3 and 4.2. Assuming you were on a custom ROM, maybe try wiping completely including "/data/media" DO NOT WIPE "/DATA/MEDIA" IF YOU HAVEN"T BEEN ABLE TO PULL THE FILES VIA ADB IN RECOVERY!!! YOUR PHOTOS WILL BE GONE!!! Sorry for the bold caps, I just didn't want you to miss it. Next install your custom ROM, boot, and do enough setup to get to the home screen. Now go back to recovery and your backup should restore. From here you could "adb push ..." your files back.
Updating TWRP is one way to solve this in the future, like JB already posted. However, to remedy on 2.5, do a clean wipe prior to restore, mounting system prior. Then, restore only the boot.img from the ROM you want and then restore the full ROM you want. This is how I was able resolve this same issue. Hopefully, it will work for you.
I was on stock deodexed debloated prior to all this... after a few tries at the restore I just flashed that same ROM and used TiB to restore what I had on last back up... tonight I'll try and restore that twrp backup ... but either way I guess I'll be updating my recovery... I'm not worried about all my pics n what not I keep all that on the external SD card now...

I have stock Nougat and after an OTA update it rebooted to TWRP. TWRP works fine but it can't boot back to the system, just TWRP. I tried wiping cache and davilink, no success. I also tried re-flashing the elementalx kernel but it didn't fix.
I had some text messages and whatsapp messages I needed to reply to. Worst case scenario, can I still save the data? I have TI backup pro installed but find there's always things I forget to backup (for example even when backingup Whatsapp the pictures aren't backed up).
How can I get out of the bootloop to recovery?

Temporary solution,
Boot into bootloader, start device from there, it will start from bootloader,
For further process, take backups of your important data and internal storage...
This solution works for sometimes,
Boot into bootloader and get adb/fastboot on PC.
Enter following commands,
- fastboot oem fb_mode_set
- fastboot oem fb_mode_clear
Try above commands 3-4 times (if doesn't work for first time.)
If still doesn't work,
You need to flash fastboot stock ROM, check guide section for it.
im having big problems about vendor. for start im giving some info:
device: mi a1 (tissot)
current os: lineage OS 17.1
root: yes
twrp: can install or use just booting .img
i unlocked my device and installed twrp. there is no problem.
i wanted flash lineage OS and i wiped my device. gives error about cannot mount /vendor
i installed treble supported twrp and installed lineage OS. flashed magisk. installed microg...
then i tried flash mapsv1.zip which is recommended for microg. then booom. another /vendor error.
now i can boot device. i can use everything except gps. google maps app cannot found location. yandex maps can found and i can use it until lock screen or going main screen (or another app). then it starts stopping everytime until i clen its data and cache. then again... in chrome when i open google maps and try found my location chrome stops.
i tried to change /vendor/etc/gps.conf. its still same.
what to do now guys? im worrying about if i try re-flash rom it doesnt flash and device bricked. any solution without re-flash rom? what causes to cannot mount /vendor after solved it?
What exactly did you wipe? I think you wiped vendor, or bumped your O.S. from an old firmware. However, wiping system, data and Dalvik was more than enough.
To solve this, the worst thing to do is trying to hook around. Just reflash the latest original firmware and start again.
Keep in mind that you might need to backup your stuff first.
Use adb pull and push commands in case your device is rebooting too much. Check if device works well this time.
Next, open adb access from device and reboot fastboot to reflash your custom recovery, then reboot recovery and wipe just these items. Finally, complete Rom flashing procedure, depending of your needs.

Dalvik cache , system, data, and cache. My device is not rebooting too much. Sory if i couldn't explain. Everything working fine except when an app tries use my location, app stops running, i cant flash anything right now.
İ thought anyone knows mapsv1.zip file(microg.org) and which files are replaced or added by this file when flash it. And can i do it manually? Btw i can read and write /vendor file with solid explorer
İf needed to re-flash rom thats ok but i think lineage OS was perfect for me until this error. And a last thing: can i backup my settings. (İ already took backup of everything in stock when unlocked bl)
Thank you for help
Edit: gps problems started when i tried flash mapsv1
ROM could be perfect, but what I doubt is how perfectly you followed the procedure. Again, better start from zero, being sure you have all the prerequisites (latest firmware included). My humble opinion.

Okey ilk try it and share the result night. But is it possible to backup settings of phone?
Well, that's why in step 0 is always recommended to backup you phone. At this level you should have nothing in settings, since you wipe it all... However, that's better, that's the goal of a Clean Install after all. Each ROM has its own flavour and is not recomendable to overwrite these values from a backup, if you're changing ROMs. What you could do, was to backup your apps and some settings with a third app like Swift Backup, or older Titanium Backup, before starting it all, or else, making a complete backup from recovery, in case you end with a problem with newly installed ROM (recommendation here is disable any screen security lock before doing Backups).

if you didn't treblized your device then its not a problem. I have this error too but that's because there is no vendor partition to mount. as been said by unipo:

Are you sure? Bcs i can view and change /vendor in root path. Treblizing is updating and repairing system partitions right? İ am using treble support twrp, flashed stock rom via mi flash(said error but worked fine) then how to treblize a device? And is this required for anything(like a rom, an app)?
