Soft Brick J5 2017 - Samsung Galaxy J5 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I tried to root my J5 2017 and the process crashed in the middle letting me with a nice brick.
I can still access the Download mode. Do you think that there is something that I could do to fix it? I am thinking of reinstalling the firmware.
Do you think this might do the trick?
Thanks!

You cant... and the V4 bootloader prevents you from going back to rootable firmware. Sorry... unless a new roit method is discovered, your **** out of luck
I just rooted PH1... Follow all guides as usual. No reason to downgrade to PG5.

But will Odin go back to older firmware? Or are you stuck on PH1 bootloader? Thx for confirmation.
Probably stuck, but you should still be able go between the latest U and V firmwares. I am giving up on a non engboot root method. Sammy signed that kernel so it should always flash and permit root. But, that's not a well educated guess...

You can't. The only reason we can is because we have a leaked engineering kernel that allows root. Sadly Verizon killed root on the S6 about a year ago.

Hello, I just tried rooting my verizon s7 edge on the ph1 update using the link someone on this thread provided to someone else and am now stuck in a bootloop with the verizon logo stuck on the screen. How did you achieve root on yours? by using the same steps? Also, what do you think could have possibly went wrong and how would I be able to fix this? Your help would be much appreciated.

If you're stuck on the boot logo, you HAVE TO factory reset the device. When I rooted this happened to me and after doing the factory reset, it worked like a charm

Oh wow.... haha thank you. I was really trying to avoid doing the factory reset but I figured since I will be doing a clean install anyways then why not. lol So it worked the second time you tried to root?

When I was stuck, I did and the factory reset and it booted up right and I didn't have to re-flash the kernel. If dosen't boot up right away, re-flash stock firmware, don't dis able anything, then flash the kernel and it will work .

Oh ok, well hopefully it boots right up. lol So I really haven't been into rooting and flashing roms for awhile now so Id thought I give it a try on this phone. What would you say would be best for performance/stability/battery life as far as roms go? Or do you just stick with stock? i do not do a whole lot on my phone and I also don't really use much of the features that came along with the s7 edge. i just use it for light gaming/social media/picture taking. So I guess what I am asking is what is your recommendation?

One question !

I have rooted Samsung galaxy j5 ( I rooted it with odin ) , and if I do now a factory reset is the root gonna delete ?, or I just need to install superZu again ? Btw. If I do factory reseet too much like 1 per month , can that be bad for phone ?

I don't know about root, but factory reset won't cause any issue.

Try it buddy.
If you can root via Odin then it don't matter.
You can always root again if you lose it.
I think that you will lose root as your putting the original firmware back on.
Try it and report back what happened.

Hi m8 i think this does not remove your root im pretty sure i factory reset my device without getting rid of root and if u have mm root using twrp ?
Factory reset dont reset root . It only delete your data and set setting to default .

It isn't bad at all. The bad thing is when your battery is degraded..

Bricked Huawei Honor 8 Lite PRA-LX1 | No Recovery | No OS | Bootloader Unlocked

I don't know what to say other than what I've did... I've unlocked the bootloader with an official code from Huawei, then I followed a post from Gizdev (dot) com on how to root the phone and successfully installed TWRP and root. After that I've downloaded a couple of system app remover apks and I've deleted something that made the phone go into bootloop so I've searched and downloaded different ROMs for hours, supposedly for this phone and it always gave me Error 7. I've tried to fix it with Notepad++, it apparently worked but then the ROM did not boot and after many hours I've repeated the process from the post but instead with a ClockworkMod recovery and that was the dead end.
For those that might be stuck in the same situation, I've found a way to get back to fastboot mode with the "finally-how-unbrick-revive-hard" tutorial from nairland(dot)com and MEDIATEK VCOM DRIVER. Then the "Root Honor 8 Lite EMUI 5.0 And Install TWRP Recovery" tutorial from Gizdev(dot)com to get back TWRP.
So after many many hours of agony, I've managed to get it up and running with an "elite" rom from HassanMirza01 BUT, IF you own a Honor 8 Lite DO NOT touch it, just leave it as it is, it's not worth it AT ALL... If you don't like the bloatware or the ROM just sell the phone and buy a different one, for real. The moral of the story is: Huawei SUCKS!
HELP
