Hi,
i tried to get DT2W to work but no go. I activated it with P9 toolkit and corresponding option is available in device settings but it doesnt work.
As second attempt i tried different apps which use proximity sensor to wake up display with wave over sensor but they all dont work reliable.
After a while in standby these app doesnt operate anymore. Even when all battery and power optimizations are disabled.
Any other ideas ?
noone an idea or hint ?
Is there no other way than fingerprint and On/Off button ?
There are tutorials in the forum. Please check them
Also, it requires ROOT.

Anyone ever made one? Reason why I'm asking is sometimes g-sensor is not always needed, or preferred by the users and it can actually cause more problems than solutions!
I'd love to have one but can't find one anywhere and can't find a way to turn my G-Sensor off, sure it's able to be enabled.... But not disabled! WTF? LoL
Thanks for all suggestions and advice!
Guys, im the developer of Power Switch, an app that switches off your tablet's screen when you shut the case.
The main thread can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277712
Ive had reports of problems with the tab's light sensor, so would appreciate some debugging feedback.
You can use the lite version to test, it has all the features, but just wont save as much juice.
Thanks in advance. Feel free to reply here or in the main thread, i read both regularly!
Do you guys not have a light sensor or something?

Yes we do. Maybe if there was some incentive to be your testers, like a free full edition, you might get some to actually be your "guinea pigs"
It works, but it will be much better if we can have a locking sound...

Oh wow, thats a great idea, never thought of it... i will definitely add this in the next release.
Almost done!
Updated, added screen locking sound
I just ordered a case, so I will gladly test this out once I receive it.
Just to let you know, I did try the full version of your app, but ultimately refunded it. It's a great concept, but just didn't work well on my A500. I don't know if our light sensor sucks or what, but the app wasn't detecting the cover being closed.
Anyone else having problems? Problems not related to not reading the instructions?
I'll try again with the Lite version, and see if I can configure it better. I did read the instructions, maybe I was just too quick to dismiss it.
I tried this on my Acer and the Acer cover, but didnt seem to work. Also tried the lite version. I did play around with the settings abit but still nothing. Sorry
Hey I have a suggestion. I apologize if this is already a feature as I did not see it in the other thread. But if you're able to trigger screen locks and sounds and such, why not also add the ability to have it turn off/on wifi and/or 3g?
Interesting... i will look into it, thanks!
Any issues to report?

Anyone figure out a way to use NFC when the screen is off? I'd like to be able to use some NFC tags that I can swipe over and do some Home Automation stuff, but I'd prefer to not have to turn on, unlock, and then swipe.

You must be a hoot at parties!
Unfortunately, I already searched XDA and didn't find (hardy) anything that mentioned Galaxy S5. I did find one thread that specifically mentioned the Galaxy, but not Verizon. I tried it anyway, but it didn't work. Which of course prompted my thread, in a Galaxy S5 forum, specifically mentioning the Verizon version, asking if anyone had gotten it to work.
But hey, thanks for the link to a vague search on XDA about *all* devices and *all* carriers! That's extremely helpful there!

Your loss. The information is there whether you look or not. Works great on my S5

If you know of a specific solution to for Verizon S5, any chance you can point me to that rather than just a list of search results?
Okay, I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54172523
I tested the version that is supposed to work with screen locked or screen unlocked (but not off), and that didn't work for me.
On a whim I tested the version that works with screen on, locked, or off, and that one seems to be working. So, if anyone else is looking for this for Verizon, this mod, which was technically made for T-Mobile version, should work for you.
Just go to the direct link above... no need to search or anything.
I wonder If someone knows any rom or any method for enabling Ok google detection when screen off
I had the feature in nexus 5x..and it is lot lot useful
Not at this time on OOS (any version). I've not heard of any custom ROM with that feature as your question has been discussed a number of times. I posted a clumsy work around when the OP5 is in a charger using two apps but I only do that because I use the phone as a Google Home and want to avoid screen burn-in.
Ah ok, understand
Well, about your workaround, dont you think it might be harmful for the phone to be pluged in all the time?
http://www.droidviews.com/force-ok-google-detection-screen-off/
I had also seen a Xposed module that had this option. I don't remember the name. Maybe you can try some combinations of google now search etc. in the xposed repository.
Great find. thanks, but like others in the comment section of the article this doesn't work with the OP5 with OOS. When the battery set command is activated it automatically turns the screen back on. So the normal lockscreen timeout goes into an endless loop of screen off then automatically back on, not something you could tolerate. There may be a way to work around by adding another command but so far I've not found a compatible command. Tasker's own Sys Lock isn't an option as it forces a pin/swipe unlock (no fingerprint) and definitely cuts off trusted voice.
Hmm ok, thanks both! So maybe it would work with custom roms then...but for now is not my plan. But thanks anyway
Ok thank you! I've not installed Xposed yet but I note it so I will check when I do

Technically it could be done since we can disable it when in battery saver mode or in total silent mode,i have mi 5 earlier and there is mod for that yet its miui tho.
Im just thinking how much battery life we could save if that vibrate turned off, imagine we unlock the fingerprint sensor all the time right? And its always vibrate everytime we tap it.so technically we could save more battery life without sacrificing some important features

There is sure a way, either via some exposed module or custom rom or kernel, which either is yet not available. And the battery life is excellent on this phone, doubt that disabling vibrating will save much battery.
Hello everyone,
we finally have a way to remove this awful vibration everytime we unlock our phone through the fingerprint!
Yesterday gravitybox was released for oreo (https://www.xda-developers.com/all-in-one-xposed-module-gravitybox-android-oreo/) and comes with an option to disable this vibration, works like a charm.
I advice you tu use xposed with magisk to be systemless, or just install xposed normaly.

Sorry, there is no way to do it. I actually came to search how to enable vibration. After Oreo update to 8.1.0 my phone stopped vibrating or giving any sort of feedback while unlocking through finger print.
And I laughed because you are searching for exactly opposite thing and both yours and mine query are impossible.

Xiaomi just make the vibration the lowest possible
I can still feel it but it is less than touching the home button vibration
You'll live with it ^^

Yes I know they have minimised it. I read it through official forums. But, what I'm saying isn't stupid. I'm not a novice when it comes to android, app development, rooting, adb, etc.
When I'm saying it is gone, it really is gone from my phone. Not even 1% vibration is there in the sensor. Updates do affect some phones differently. It happens due to various reasons and it happens! In real!

Okay so yeah I though you were not noticing the vibration as it have been reduced a lot.
Now I see you have feelings so
I could suggest something
you should be able to make vibration stronger
Not sure about stock kernel
The idea is to make the default vibration stronger to see if you notice it with fingerprint
If the fingerprint vibration is based on a percentage of the default one there's a chance you can feel it and so you probably have a different vibrator or a light one that need to be set a little more high than default
This can also make non sense if fingerprint vibration is a separate value and also you can just have a bug and the best solution is to factory reset or wait the next ota to see if it's fixed
Hope you'll be able to find a solution
The fingerprint sensor still vibrates but its very faint.

No vibrations will change fingerprint vibration settings until I'm rooted.
I can sense mere vibrations of FOSS keyboard settings too at minimum possible (1 point).

You can disable it in the Settings >> Accessibility >> Vibration and turn off "Touch Vibration".
