Hello !
I Have a Problem with my Wizard. Since yesterday, the device reboots very often. When i use the phone, the diplay freezes and then slowly disappears into white until it reboots.
At first this looked like a software error but i tried different IPL/SPL Versions and 3 or 4 different Roms and the Problem stays the same.
One thing i have realized is, that the phone runs more stable when theres NO Sim Card inserted. It ran a whole day with almost no errors whatsoever, but from the moment i put a sim card in it behaves like i described above.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be? A quite popular question here: Is my wizard done for?
Thanks in Advance
Mathias
sounds like you need a new battery
I have had the same thing happen, again and again at irregular intervals. Bought a high capacity battery and it still did it. It got to the point that nothing would help.
I flashed back to the love ROM and then to the stabel tmobile ROM with no improvement.
I am now waiting for my new (used) wizard to arrive because I just got tired of fooling with it.

Just tried a new battery and it didnt do any good. Using the phone now for 2 days straight without a simcard, no problem there. Tried another simcard (from my gf) and the phone didnt even boot up without crashing.
I think theres not much more i can do here
Using another phone atm and i think i'll keep the wizard for navigation-purposes and some windows mobile games and stuff.... not the best solution but better than nothing.
if someone has another idea, feel welcome to join
I've noticed that my phone reboots periodically when I have bluetooth on. I wonder if it's picking up something and that is messing it up. If you can get it to boot, try turning off bluetooth and then reboot.
I've noticed my N1 would reboot randomly since a couple weeks ago. It's gotten progressively worse and not reboots at least once per hour.
- I've uninstalled any apps that were installed within the past 2 weeks.
- Original OTA T-Mobile Rom (non-rooted)
- Just use 3g(no wifi)
- Tried uninstalling other apps that maintain connection state.
- Shut down running services to a minimum.
It seems like others are having issues as well.

Anyone here having issues too?
no issues here, same OTA as you.
have you tried giving her a factory data reset?
I have also started getting this problem. I have done a factory data reset and the problem still persist. I tried swapping back the original sd card and no dice. I wonder if my ram is just going bad. I had that problem with my first N1. This would be my third N1 and it's now out of warranty so I'm boned.
It might just be a coincidence, but this has been happening since the new market rolled out to my phone. The market would force close a lot. This happened even after the reset and uninstalling the market update and letting it reinstall.
I'm running stock 2.3.4 not rooted on t-mobile.
Same issue here. It is very random. I have wiped till the phones raw with no luck.

I am having the same issue. I am rooted running cm7. The problem started about 2 weeks ago and while it has not been getting worse and the phone is still useable, it is definitely really annoying. I have wiped the phone but not the SD card and the problem persists. Will probably try going back to stock and unrooting but that doesn't seem like that's going to help at all. Seems to me that this must be a hardware thing. I called HTC and was told to hard reset and then add apps every few days to see if the problem recurs :-\

Same here with cm7 nightly. switched to fit's latest build and have not had a reboot for over 24 hrs.
EDIT: I jinx myself, right after I hit submit on this post it rebooted on me.
i'm on cm 6.1.0 stable and have been getting this lately as well.
This just started for me two days ago as well. It will reboot itself at least ten times per day. I have read on another forum that getting a new sim card could be the solution so hopefully I will have time to make it to my Tmobile store tomorrow to get a new one.
After being plagued with random reboots for months. Even complete wipes, sdcard format, different rom n kernels didn't help.
Then I replaced the 16gb microsd with a new 4gb and have not had a single reboot since.
I suggest u all try it out.

Me too
Mine started doing this too! Weird. I don't think it's an SD card issue. That doesn't explain why so many people are experiencing it at once. I wonder if it's a Tmobile network issue of some kind.
My Nexus One just started with this same issue. You should definitely keep the SD card in mind when it comes to the rebooting but my card turned out to be fine.
The one thing that I WOULD test is: take your SIM card out for a while and see if it reboots. Mine stayed booted for the whole night while I was sleeping, and I just swapped SIM's earlier today. So far everything seems to be working just fine.
(Less important info)
I have had that SIM since 2006 so it is very likely that the older sims can cause issues at that point for the new phones. The only reason I even thought of it was the lack of any error messages in the last_kmesg debug.
Assuming our reboots all have the same cause, I don't think it's a SIM card issue. My SIM is pretty new (about 18 months) and I have been able to stop the constant rebooting by switching off both 3G and WiFi except when I need them. It's not the ideal solution because I now have to manually turn on WiFi or 3G whenever I want to do anything data-intensive but it beats having the phone rebooting all the time for me.
It has been almost 3 days now since I went to mostly 2G and it hasn't crashed/rebooted once yet (crossing fingers). Prior to this, the longest uptime was 22 hours.
if you format card use sdformatter, not phone
wipe system also
I got my new SiM card midday today and there have been no more reboots since. I have been using the same SIM card since 2007ish and the T-Mobile rep said he could tell in his computer system after he looked up my phone number, it showed on his screen (the new one looks identical physically). He said it was an old 2G card, and gave me a card he called a 3G card - he said they've only been giving them out and coming with new phones for the last six months or so. I don't know how much truth there is to that salesman's explanation but that's what he said. I'll report back in a few days if my reboot problem is truly solved or not but so far so good.
I too am having random reboots as others describe (since about 2 weeks)
I have been flashing CM7 nightlies consistently for months before (and since)
I have tried reformatting (SDFormatter) and re-partitioning (4096/0 then 2048/0) still no luck. Next tried retrograding to back to Nightly 161 (no luck) then to CM7 RC1 (gapps 20110613) still no luck.
T-Mobile (USA) SIM card is about 18 months old (same age as N1 purchased within 5 minutes of original release .... ok I'm a fanboy
Sure would like to figure this one out ........ this N1's gotta last until Nexus Prime's available
Could the recent reboot problem be related to google pushing the out the new market? That's when my problems started.

I uninstalled, then Titanium Backup "froze," the Market Update(r) since the reboots started. No improved results, but I will try it again (in case you are on to something).
By the way, here's a thread about the problem on Google Mobile Help. Might help if we banded together or at least are aware of each other's existence: http://www.google.com/support/forum...c2&hl=en&fid=3f6f936e159bccc20004ab2f835ecbbc
Ahh, glad to see a thread here as well.

Last night I changed SIM card with an old fully-depleted prepard card and had 13 hours of no reboots (I am looking at Settings>About Phone>Status>Up Time for that data).
Plugged in the old SIM card this morning and am waiting for a reboot (none yet after 1:23:00).
Anyone notice the following commit on next CM7 nightly version?
"LGEStarRIL: Fix state trackers (android_frameworks_base)" ?
Comments say it deals with telephony. Any chance it is related to this issue?
Edit - went to Tmo and replaced my SIM card (I was told it was an "old one"). Let's see if that makes random reboots go away ! (almost 3 hours up time as I write this)
hello, not a noob for installing stuff just reporting some issues im having with this rom.
So currently the install went fine on the focus (ATT device running on Tmobile). the device is rebooting at random times, i would watch it flash the goodbye screen wait for a few seconds then the samsung screen comes on. Another thing is my connection is reporting to be on the E (Edge connection i guess) even though im rated for 3G with tmobile but at the time i just recently turned on my data so maybe when my new pay period kicks in that would change so that ones iffy. Other than that the rom seems to be running fine.
Until your area gets a network upgrade on TMobile's 1900Mhz band, you are going to see 2G.
As far as the reboots, I have 3 focus's running this Rom on Straighttalk. NO reboots.

i know i get 3g before cause my father turned off the data plan when i wasn't working (and before i flashed the rom incase anyone asked), like i said i won't know until a couple of weeks as theres alot of extenuating circumstances which i can pin on Tmobile (my voicemail was kinda jacked up when i first joined).
Yea the reboot was just weird, i would just take it out of my pocket and i would noticed all of my pass tasks were missing even when i wasn't running anything on the background still does it, then last night i was on my computer look over to the right to my phone and it was restarting by itself . Also before i flashed, i had the same issue but not too frequently maybe once per 2 months.

I had similar issues when I was on T-Mobile about 6 months ago, but I am not sure but I don't think your issues are because of T-Mobile, try a reflash.

i cleaned before and after but heck reflashing helps too, i'll give that a shot tonight. Yea this rom is awesome, makes my focus still look shiny new
Here are the bugs I found:
1. The Clock Hub seems to flash every other time I look at it, as if it was flickering and loading up just then, not smooth.
2. The Clock Hub's code needs to be fixed to show AM and PM properly when the hour is 12. 12AM is shown as 12PM and the other way around too. Soon as it hits 1PM or 1AM, it's ok.
3. XBox avatar wakes up on the wrong side after shaking him down and he tries to pull the screen to the side. Shake your avatar, make him fall down, watch him get up pissed and pull the screen to a side. On the older stock rom, he pulled it correctly from left to right. In this ROM and the Tango ROM I got from here - he pulls it wrongly from right to left.
4. When I connected the phone to the computer, it detected it as a Samsung Omnia 7, instead of a Focus.
5. The image in Zune is a generic Windows Phone image, not the Samsung Focus as it used to be shown before.
6. When there's a phonecall, earlier it used to say "slide up to answer", why not anymore?
7. No charging sound/vibration when plugged in.
One request:
Can anyone find the original image from the stock rom from the 7 album, which had the person crossing their leg to form a 4, instead of the Mango image that has the latch with the 4 over it?

I found that the network profile does not work. The voice search does not work, also when u have a custom SMS tone it will not silence and also it will play when u are talking on the phone, and if you get more than one text it will play the sound for each sound all at once.

Your phone probably has bad NAND sectors. Aside from getting a new phone the only thing you can try is getting a very large SD card and hope that most of the data gets written to the SD card instead of the NAND. This is a common problem with the Focus I have noticed.

The Dynamics ROM uses a lot of Omnia 7 files as well as it's newer firmware which can cause problems, such as changing providers with the diagnosis app via the provxml trick. The reason voice search doesn't work is because of ultrashot's SearchKeySettings package. If you want that to work you will have to use a ROKM that doesn't have that included.
Hi everybody
I wan to ask, if anyone has a similar problem or a solution.
Me and my girlfriend bought a moto x play for its dual sim ability.
We experience random signal loss several times per day. Its just falls off for few seconds, sometimes longer without any reason. Then i have to turn airplane mode on/off, to manage it. Its pretty annoying. I had the same problem with last years moto g2. The sim card, that is dropping signal is the one i use mainly and preffered for data.
Just to mention, that i was using my simcards about a half year in my honor 6 plus dual sim and i never experienced this. Sot the troubke must be in the phone.
Is there somebody who has a fix for this?
Thx
Peter
hi i have the same problem. i am here in germany with base (hope u know what i mean) in my second simslot i get a o2 card. now its strange. always that slot with base sim have that problem. i tried it with a lot other base sims from friends etc. always same result. without reason (i have luck) 1 - 3 times no signal for few seconds. on other fon with base that i take with me to check if it also have no signal but there always ok (testet it also with my card in other phones the card is 100% ok). hope u have a fix. and by the way sorry for this ugly and bad english. i can read good but write is not mine. thx everybody

Thanks for your answers.
I did contact motorola with the problem.
They adviced me to run the phone in safe mode (only preinstalled apps, nothing from my downloaded apps are in this mode) and step by step (can take a days) to add my apps and see, whic one does it.
The safe mode did ok ( no signall loss) but then i just booted in normal and uninstalled my apps. (since i dont use so much of them) whats important to know, that my wife has the same phone (same issue) so i can compare it better.
So i realized, that it could be the app CAM SCANNER (app, which makes pdf from photos, APP FROM innstig COMPANY) I stopped using this app. I tought, that the problem is gone, but now still, the random signall loss happens much less, bu it still happens. If I have more time to play with it, i will try to delete some other apps.
For the moment its not so bad like before. i have, lets say 3-4 random signal losses per day. for me its strange, that an app can cause this. and i hope i dont have to uninstall apps like dropbox, or something i cannot live without. I blame motorola for thi, because this was a problem allready with lastyears moto G. ( my previous phone was honor 6 plus dual sim, these things never happen, and i used the same apps. Of course i changed the phone, because the OS was horrible on it (emui...))
So im still trying, if somebody has a possible solution, please post it. Im also thinking, as the last option, to flash cyanogenmod. Its allready an unofficial version, i hope it becomes official soon.

As squid told that he has moved on to cm13 and he will push to make cm13 as official, cm12 is already there. Also soak test has begun. Its just matter of some few weeks before the official update from Motorola lands on x play.
Marshmallow update
Hi everybody.
I allready recieved the marshmallow update for the moto x play dual sim. Nothing changed. Same results by my wifes phone. The signal is falling out randomly through the whole day. This is really bad.
I had this allready with last years moto g 2014 dual sim.
Im giving up. I don tgink i will get another motorola this year.
Did you try changing preferred network data to 2G or 3G? (Wireless & Networks > More > Mobile networks > Preferred network type)
If it's on 4G, it's most likely that signal is too weak for 4G in some places. Network type (2G,3G,4G) affects the signal and battery drain if signal is too weak even if you're not using mobile data.
If that doesn't help, then I have no idea.
Hi All,
I had this problem. The phone would show "No Signal" even when others on the same network were getting a signal in the same place. Plus the SIM would work on another phone. The mobile would be off the signal for hours and then connect for a few hours. I tried everything that is recommended including a factory reset. No resolution.
But I did notice that if I charged the device the signal would come back for a while.
So, being a complete novice at this, I did what I thought best. Went into battery saving and switched everything off battery saving. ( Switched everything off because I do not know better )
Since then the mobile has been connected to the network 24X7. I use mostly 3G as my preferred connection choice. The phone does switch between 2G and 3G depending on signal strength I guess.
Hope this may help someone. It is not an educated fix, but seems to have worked with me.
Incidentally, Motorola had suggested that I take in the phone for servicing when I contacted them. As that is a long journey, I tried this fix as a last resort - and it worked for me.
Cheers!

OK, I need to go over some background before it makes any sense to ask a detailed question.
I've been running crDroid 8.1 on a Verizon Galaxy S5 (CID 15) since year. It had an odd tendency to not recognize the SIM card about half the time you boot it up, and every now and then it will "forget" there's a SIM card -- from what I've read, this is a known problem with S5's running the newer ROM's. I did try getting the SIM card replaced at the Verizon store, but it did not help whatsoever.
The phone has been having slowly-increasing hardware problems that cause to slow down and hang up whenever it is working hard, but I really like the S5, so I've bought two more used CID 15's from different sellers on eBay (both of whom have come across as honest in all the emails and things they've done). One of them came with crDroid pre-installed and the other with LineageOS pre-installed. I immediately reflashed the crDroid one to the latest Resurrection Remix, and with the other I waited a while before replacing the LOS with RR. However, in both cases, I have only been able to get each one to recognize the old S5's SIM card just once -- every other time I've rebooted the phones, and the dozen or so times I've reflashed the ROM's, it just comes up with an empty triangle. One of the new S5's, the one that had LOS installed, the time it worked was probably the first time I booted it up with the SIM card inserted (with LOS still installed), and I actually made a phone call with it to test it -- but since then, nothing. The other S5 took a lot of tries (mostly with RR installed) to get it to work, and oddly enough it finally worked one time immediately after I flashed the modem to the latest revision (just for the sake of trying anything and everything that might help), but in that case, it showed reception only for a few minutes, and reverted to an empty triangle while it was restoring my settings/apps from Google's cloud -- since then, it has not worked.
I also tried taking the phone to the Verizon store and having them transfer my line from the SIM card from my old S5 to a SIM card that was included with one of the S5's I recently got. The new SIM card works just as well as the old one -- which is to say, about half the time on the old S5, and only once on the two new S5's.
Since the two phones have been mysteriously not working, I've been trying all sorts of things to see if anything will help -- including installing LOS, and even tried installing the old crDroid 8.1 on one of the new S5's (because, hey, it is still working on the old one that is having hardware problems). My next experiment will be to back up the old phone and install RR on it to see if the old S5 keeps reception with the new ROM installed with the same procedure as the new S5's.
I'm really struggling with this -- at this point, I think the only thing left to do is to appeal to the entire S5 community and ask for them to list every conceivable reason a SIM card would not work in two S5's but still work half the time in a third S5.
Have a look at the below thread. I would try the preferred network suggestion and then try the TWRP EFS backup/restore if that does not work.
