Hello Guys,
Since Sunday night i got no more notifications when the screen is off. I did not install anything new and did not mess up my settings.
(wifi still set to never sleep when screen is off). For 7 months I had no problem and suddenly nothing since Sunday.
When the screen is on, the notifications arrive (some right away some after 1-2 min) This is driving me crazy.
I am stock unroot and have not changed anything ...
Anyone had that problem? or above all a way to fix that? I have tried everything (installing wifi reconnecter etc) nothing works
Thank you in advance.
Seems that the problem is with wifi only. I am on 4g now and seems to be working

Having a weird issue happen on my Tab recently. Every time i 'lock' the screen or allow the screen to power down the GPS goes to sleep with it. Even if i have a GPS app open, it'll lose the position as the GPS has gone to sleep. The Green GPS icon in the notification bar is still 'on', but the GPS has gone to sleep.
Cannot figure out what is telling the GPS to power down on standby, but something is. Stock rom, not running ATK or anything similar. Suggestions?
same problem here... i'll try to let the tab go to sleep after 30", without switching off display ...
Same issue here with a rooted but nothing else Sprint Tab. Sleeping gps after 1 or 20 minutes, cannot find any reason why. The green button indicates its on, but toggle it off and immediately on and it works instantly. Any suggestions on why or how to disable gps sleep?
Made for an annoying 2000 mile trip to reset every 5 or 20 miles...
what you guys flashed ? ? , what you have done flashed already , pls do re-flash and maybe it will work .. if it doesn't work and this is 90% will not . pls . go back to your stock rom and then flash the rom back
It probably goes to sleep when the screen is off because it's not like youll be using it, also why do you kept it on, such a battery drain
swyped from a galaxy far far away...
Guys,
I updated my tab a few days ago. Now the market looks different but unfortunately I'm facing another irritating problem which I have no clue how to solve.
Every time that I turn off the tab, and let it be idle for 10 minutes, when I turn it back on, the WiFi icon will show no bars - which translates into no internet connectivity. That happens while the WiFi button is still pressed (green in the pop-up menu). In order for the device to connect to the net I need to turn the WiFi OFF and than ON and it works.
I checked the WiFi sleep configuration and they are set to "never turn it off" I also rebooted the device but with no change.
Please let me know what to do... as this thing sometimes just drives me crazy.
Thanks.

Flash a custom rom bro. Otherwise you are stuck with Samsung's awesome bugs. If you don't want to flash a custom rom there isn't really much you can do about it considering you're not rooted. What did you update to? KMP???
I did the regular Samsung update -the latest one that was released a couple of says ago. The problem with rooting is losing the coverage I have for insuring the device... which I'm reluctant to do. I'm sure it has a solution somewhere...
Yes I confirm.
This "reconnect" issue is being discussed on many forums with no solutions yet. (except custom ROM)
Before buying Lg g2 i had this problem on my nexus 4,whenever my g2 is connected to my home wifi network and my screen is off , i recieve push notifications with a delay ,sometimes 2 minutes ..somtimes 10 minutes ..so it varies , as soon as i press the power button to switch the screen on , all my whatsapp notifications which were stacked up, arrive in one go , i have this problem only on wifi , on 3g it works flawlessly ,there is no such delay
I have this problem on problem on my stock 4.2.2 rom
And also on any custom rom i use , currently am on houstonn's 4.4.2 rom
Any workaround guys ?

In your Advanced Wi-Fi Settings, is "Keep W-Fi on during sleep" set to Always? (You get there from the Wi-Fi screen, click the Menu Button and select Advanced Wi-Fi).
Not sure if this will help because of your other symptoms but it's somewhere to start.
Edit: DD's solution sounds more to the point, but requires root.

I have the same problem.
I receive notifications from 2 minutes up to 30 minutes later.
When Im charging my phone, notifications are not delayed at all, not even for one second
I use nexus 4 kitkat, not rooted, stock
I have turned off Wifi Optimization and now notifications arrive usually with 30 seconds delay which is OK for me, but the battery now drains faster

Push is blazing fast on my G2. I do have wi-fi optimizer enabled as well as wi-fi enabled in sleep mode.
Is turn wifi off during sleep enabled? I thought it kicked over to 4G if so.
I am on stock G2, unrooted. I experience this using 4G. On WiFi, I haven't noticed it yet.
I had a note 3 problem where i would not get notifications while the screen was off. So i switched to a S4 and now i have the same problem. Its seems to happen at my home while on wifi. I would return to get a different brand but ATT said i could not . Any help? (yes i have the sleep for wifi set on always)
when turning my wifi off it seems it goes into some weird loop of turning on and off constantly by itself, it doesn't seem to be trying to connect just flipping the wifi switch on and off none stop.
noticed it because i had a huge battery daring overnight and while trying to fix it i saw the switch going off and on all the time.
when turning it back on it seems to connect normally .
did a network setting rest but it did nothing ...
I'm guessing a factory rest will fix the problem but I'm hoping to avoid such a overkill solution :crying:
does anyone else had this problem and can help me fix it?
thanx!

original samsung rom.
just happened (i have the device for a a while everything was fine) its the android system that drains the battery in the battery status.
when i leave the wifi on it stops and works fine ...
Have you turned off ''Keep Wifi During Sleep''? I know this can drain battery.
It's not so easy to troubleshoot on an orginal none rooted phone.
You can try clearing dalvik and cache.
Turn it off and then on holding power and vol down button, then clear cach/dalvik and restart.
Try uninstall update beaming service for samsung then restart
If still persistent try uninstall update microsoft onedrive and skype then restart, just in case
I found it after factory reset (forgot internal data backup :crying and update all apps, this problem occuring after the last 3 updates (beaming, onedrive, & skype) which more suspect beaming service update make that problem
Your not alone
You're not the only one who suffer from this exact problem, on Friday or Saturday the same problem started occurring with my phone too, WiFi turns on and off in a loop and huge battery drain!
I saw an increase of 6% of battery drain per hour, so I ended up on 9% total drain every hour. :crying:
I have original Samsung Rom and phone worked prefect until now, no settings or apps installed before this happened either.
What rom version are you guys on?
I'm having the same issue. However, I'm on PhoenixX Rom. Major battery killer and has only just started happening within the past few days.
Since my phone has been unplugged, 3 hours ago, looking at BetterBatteryStats, It is showing com.google.android.gms as having quite a LOT of wakeups. 40 per hour (everything else is about 2). Don't know if this is normal as I don't remember it before the Wifi issue.
Looking into what the wake ups are caused from, Location and heartbeat were the major culprits. So i have turned of WIFI scanning when not on and also the body sensors for Google Play. We shall see.

Easy fix. Just disable Wi-Fi scanning.

its not a fix at all . it dosnt scan for wifi , just turning it on and off non stop.
like pressing the light switch agin and agin
I had this after installing "GoodLock" software from Samsung! Uninstalled and everything is ok
same here, just noticed I wasnt on Wifi and the switch is just flicking on and off by itself. Standard S7 with all the updates installed
Been struggling with the same for some days (4 - 5) I haven't been able to get exactly whats triggering this. I'm on stock rom with root. I've reinstalled firmware clean again and re downloaded my apps but it is still happening randomly. Some times after a few attempts to switch wifi on (even when it is toggling by itself) it manages to keep on. Sometimes restarting makes it work again. One thing I'm almost certain its that this usually happens after I turn wifi OFF and then try to turn it back on.
It's been crazy and the phone starts to overheat after a while off this on-off loop.
Any ideas?
its very wierd it started to all of us in the past few days-weeks . seems like samsung has a bug they need to hurry up and fix.
AT&T just pushed out the October Security update for the S7 family, I'm guessing something that came along with it is creating the problem.
mine did a software update last week and I've been away in airplane mode so it could have started then. I've just disabled scanning and that seems to have got round the issue and I'm now connected to WifI
I'm not sure whether it is a Samsung Issue or a Third party one... It is true that something recently affected all of us, but as far as I know, it could be a third party app that wasn't well developed for our phone.
I've noticed the same problem on my phone and it's also only started up in the last few days. On stock Sammy rom, unrooted. Will be monitoring this thread to see if the experts here can narrow down the culprit.
I had the same issue and I was able to stop the toggle by turning off the wifi scanning in Location - Improve Accuracy - WiFi scanning. It's a fix for now. I think it may be an app that may have been updates that is persistently looking for location updates.
