Problem in restoring - Honor 8 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi guys, i was trying to restore my device from a custom rom to the stock version following the restoring and the rebranding guide of the thread on the forum about it. In conclusion:
-everytime i try the dload method (with the nocheck recoveries) the update stops at 5% with "uncompatible version".
-Once i finally installed the B182 version, the camera didn't work and the system was unstable, maybe for some error in the Vendor package.
-I also tried to flash the images of cust userdata system and boot but no results
My idea was to restore the B130 and then to update by emui to b182.
Can anyone solve this big problem?
(SORRY for the english, I'm Italian)

Try the restoring guide by OldDroid

I followed that guide, but nothing. Can anyone give me a Nandroid backup of european stock version?

If you have the update.app file , use Huawei update extractor to get recovery and recovery2 IMG files, flash them using fastboot commands .
Then try to place ROM file in dload , use vol up+ down and power button to flash it.

So the version of the firmware is not relevant for the dload method ? I mean, it doesn't matter if I've installed the B182 and in dload i put the 130 one?

Ok I will. Just a question: now I've installed Lineage OS, is there some wipe I have to do before the dload method? Or I just have to install the two recoveries?

I installed the 182 flashing images (dload method didn't worked) from update.app, but there was so many issues (like the camera which wasn't installed or inexistent calling function)

Already tried, no results. I really don't understand why i tried every single method in this guide, also used by other users, but without any success. Every single time it stops at 5% with dload or it goes in bootloop with flashed images from lower firmwares of 182.
My last idea was finding a Nandroid backup of stock version and the restore it from TWRP. But obviously I couldn't find it.

Some Updates can't be installed over the b136.
The german b170 (a partial update) needs the b132 or the b133 to upgrade to b170. Directly update from b136 to b170 isn't possible

Could you please be a little more specific?
You mean you downloaded stockrecovery.img form here
Code:
rootjunkysdl.com/files/Huawei%20P8%20Lite/Firmware/stockrecovery.img
? And then you startet the phone in fastboot mode with the command
Code:
adb reboot bootlader
? Last you send the command
Code:
fasboot flash recovery stockrecovery.img
?
I already regret installing TWRP since I can't even try to install further Updates via dload. So I just don't want to make any more mistakes and/or brick the phone.

Yes that's pretty much what I have done.
You need to have the right version in order to install via update

Help with rooting nougat mate 8 + Question

Warning: This is probably gonna be a long post and may have typos.
Now, let's cut to the chase.
I'm currently on my Mate 8 emui.4, I had my phone rooted a while ago with TWRP and SuperSu. After rooting, I had the nougat update and I updated without knowing that it would remove TWRP and my root access. That was not the only problem! I couldn't switch on my Bluetooth. Also I lost the update option from the about phone location. I tried searching it in the search bar and clicking on the update button but, nothing would open up. And.. Yes, it was an official update. I tried to root it with the usual method but, it got me into a bootloop. I tried most TWRP versions but, it didn't seem to work! Either there would be no recovery (just a Black screen with some text) or the options inside the TWRP recovery wouldn't work. So I rerolled back to Mate 8 marshmellow. Now I don't have root, no TWRP or unlocked bootloader. So my question is if I should root my current phone version of emui.4 and be satisfied by it by unlocking bootloader now and rooting it, or update my phone to Mate 8 nougat again? If you're suggesting I update to nougat please provide me with ALL the necessary files to root Nougat and please guide me through. And provide me with the information on what to do in the worst case scenario too.. Please .
@Devil Chan
I think you should make like that:
Download the new firmware without to install it
Unpack the bigger file in a dload folder created on the external sd. You must to have a big file (more than 1 GB), inside you should find an update.app file, you put this one on the dload folder
Unlock bootloader
Install insecure boot for your current firmware (B200)
Install twrp
Reboot to twrp
Wipe - factory reset
Format data
Power off your phone
Install new firmware via the 3 buttons combo
After installation, make a factory reset via erecovery
Power off the phone and reboot to bootloader
Install Decrypted data boot for the B560
Install frd-twrp
Reboot to the twrp
Format data
Reboot to the twrp
Install update data of NXT-L29C185B560, I think you also have it in the downloaded files of your new firmware
Install supersu EMUI 5.0
Reboot system - normally fully rooted
For the 1 & 2, I think the files are like I said, if no, don't make this tuto. You shall see otherwise.
For the 4, it's the little issue. You must to recover a stock boot B200 and I could make you the insecure boot or Decrypted data boot, it's almost the same.
For the root questions, we can continue here.
This may seem very complicated but don't worry, it's not!

First of all thank you so very much for replying,
I'm sorry, I'm a newbie. I have a few questions.
Where do I download the firmware from? link me to it please?
What is insecure boot? Flash using fastboot? Link?
7 and 8, Factory reset doesn't format data? Using erecovery or TWRP?
What's frd-twrp? How do I install it?
Step 10 and 18, after installing the new firmware, why would I need to update it? How do I update it?
Can you make me the insecure boot? I don't know how to use it? Do I just flash it with fastboot?
Sorry got asking so many questions.. I feel really bad asking this many.

Your first screenshot, you can update it there.
Insecure boot is a boot.img which enable you to decrypt your data folder. It's necessary to root. You flash it with fasboot, ok.
Yes, Factory reset doesn't format the data
TWRP
it's a unofficial twrp for Nougat. You flash it with fasboot
Because you should format the data before
Via TWRP if it's really like I think (obtained files in the update)
Yes if I've the stock boot. Normally you can recover it via ADB
Yeah

The first should be update.app file extracted to the big file (above 1 GB), you will put it in dload. The second will be a zip what you will install with the TWRP.
Via dload method, yes!

No OS, can't mount vendor/product/

Hi there
Today I bought a pair of Bluetooth earphones and noticed that Bluetooth wasn't working anymore, so I decided to factory reset my vanilla ROM (EMUI 5.0).
That didn't work out and eventually I had to unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery (so far I tried both TWRP and Revolution) and a custom ROM.
However, something must have gone seriously bad because I now can't mount /product and /version.
When I try to install a rom (EliteROM by HassanMirza), it also tells me it couldn't load /cust and /data as well.
- cust: invalid argument
- data: invalid argument
- product: no such file or directory
- version: no such file or directory
I also tried moving an update.app version to my internal memory but doing that through gives me an error saying there's not enough space.
Pretty much at a loss here, no idea what to do. Anyone got an idea? Even willing to pay to get this fixed.

I tried that yesterday, but flashing the system.img file gave an error, something like "sparse flash write failed".
Would you have any idea what the correct build would be for a Belgian VNS-L31 which was previously on EMUI 5.0.
I got my phone with a subscription from Proximus and after the update, it just completely broke (the software I mean).

Hmmm.. Can you flash stock recovery and dload the firmware?
The build depends on your Cxxx. What is it? I also got my phone from proximus! Assuming you didn't debrand your phone, it should be C02, but maybe you did debrand. However, I would suggest trying to dload the rollback package because you were on nougat. You can find it here. Follow the instructions in the PDF file of the zip package. Hmm so I've currently moved the update.app file to my external sd (if I'm correct this is the /external_sd/ folder - had to do this through adb because I don't have a card reader atm) and then tried to update by pressing on/off button, volume down, volume up. However, this just brings me back to my Revolution recovery. Should I flash the stock recovery first?

Okay, download B370 (two files) and follow instructions , use method 3 for locked bootloader (or method 1 for unlocked BL & TWRP)
Here you go

Thanks, i tried method 3 first but it failed (i have an unlocked bootloader though), so then i tried method 1 (i had twrp from meticulus already installed) first went to install only the update.zip in twrp, it failed, but when i rebooted, the phone is now updated to emui 5. Also my build number is now the test keys nonsense, but that happened to me before and i know how to fix that.
Thanks, your guide worked.

I installed an update.zip from a video about downgrading to Emui 4.1 with the hold down all buttons method, and the test keys thing disappeared, but it wiped my whole phone and installled a version of Emui from a different country I think because everything was just different.

Install TWRP for Nougat, e.g. this one:
3.1.0.2
Install it over eRecovery with command
fastboot flash recovery2 xxxxxxx.img
Copy to the SD card the second file - hw_eu.zip from B370.
Boot into TWRP, click WIPE, then FORMAT DATA , after REBOOT SYSTEM.
The smartphone will start rebooting: as soon as the technical menu appears on the screen (yellow warning) press and hold Volume Up up to 3 sec, and here you are in TWRP again.
Click INSTALL and flash update_data_full_VNS-L21_hw_eu.zip.
Reboot into stock Recovery and do factory reset.

Does that mean I'm missing the second (smaller) file? Okay, I'll try it. Thank you!
