[HELP]Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH1337M Deleted OS! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hey guys,
I really realized that I messed up
Long story short, I deleted my os while messing around with rooting and roms,
I can't get into download mode (to download stock rom)
And I'm stuck and don't know what else to do....
Forgot to say I have TWRP installed (luckily)
But when I try to download the stock rom zip it says (Couldn't find MD5 file
Invalid zip format, And when I try to boot it up into anything its stuck at the s4 logo. System, Recovery Ect.
I'm buying a new phone tomorrow but would still like to fix this s4.
And I did a poll to pass time, so if you wanna do it go for it

Have you tried flashing a custom stock rom like golden eye Rom ?

So you mean just installing it from twrp, because what I did was I downloaded the stock rom from my laptop and transferred it to my sd card, so if I use a different rom you think i'll get a different result?
P.S Thx for replying :good:

Can't install stock rom with twrp.
Get a usb jig to force the phone into download mode and flash a stock rom from sammobile.com or updato.com. You need to unzip the file once to get a tar.md5 for Odin.

[Q] Rooted phone - can't flash rom and forgot to backup.

Hello, I rooted my galaxy 4 yesterday with odin v.3.07 and flashed CWM. I erased as usual when you flash another rom, but when i try to install a rom it just say something like "Aborted". I can access CMW and download mode, but can't install a rom from CMW, and I don't have any backup. Anybody know what to do? My computer knows that the phone is plugged in as i can see it in the odin program.

Hi,
You will need to find the right one for your phone HERE
You must know the area your phone came from.
These seem to be zips,so flash with CWM.

Thank you, I found it. But when i tried to install roms with CWM before it just said "Aborted", maybe their is something wrong with CWM. I read something about installing with Odin, but then i'll need a .tar file or something like that

You have to unzip this file and install the content with Odin.
After unzipping this archive you should end up witch md5 file and this is the file to put in to Odin

Hi,
Maybe try installing a different recovery.
I heard sometimes these new recoveries need more than one go to install things.
Thank you, problem solved =)

I am running stock and its rooted.
I have no clue on how to check the firmware without the settings application...feels sort of hopeless haha.
Do you think if I flash a new rom everything will work?
I don't have a recovery installed and everytime I try installing one I get the "seandroid enforcing" bit with it boot looping.

You can dirty flash the rom you are on without wiping and all should be restored, just reflash the custom recovery and reroot afterwards.

[Q] Flash from recovery or Odin

Sorry if this is a simple question; What I want to know is, do I have to use some recovery mod and flash from the SD card, or can I simply flash custom ROMs from odin 3.09, the same as I did for my stock rom?
Specifically Imperium ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706844&nocache=1
Many thanks.

You always need a custom recovery to flash roms from either your internal or external sd card
I'd suggest philz recovery just flash the .tar file from here in odin then enter recovery & flash away
Not sure if you have rooted your phone as yet if not follow this link first
Okay, I never used a custom recovery when flashing the stock rom.?
I can't just download and flash the rom in Odin from my pc then?

You aren't flashing a stock rom it's a custom rom hence the custom recovery ?

I have rooted it using Odin already yeah

Yeah just flash it in pda then flash rom from philz recovery then it's done just setup required
You won't need odin again unless you want to return to stock (which I doubt).
P.s you should like the imperium rom you've been lookin at

What I meant was, I can't flash the recovery in odin, then flash the new rom in odin too?

[Solved] Recovering data from stock bootloop

Hey everyone,
Apologise for asking this question ! As it has been covered before from my research but not exactly and I am still quite confused so I'd greatly appreciate some insight from you guys.
Basically I have a stock i9505 which has gone into bootloop, it is not rooted and not modded in any way.
I've tried to enter recovery mode and wipe cache partition but it did not work, so I can do a factory reset, but a factory reset with stock recovery will wipe all of my data off my internal SD card.
I have downloaded odin but there a few different opinions as to what I should be doing, some threads say I should install CWM and run ADB to fetch the files. (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498228&page=2)
Another opinion is that I should use Odin to flash a stock rom
"Install a stock ROM through Odin, as Odin doesn't wipe user data when a ROM is installed. If you want to play it safe however, install TWRP first and make a nandroid backup onto your MicroSD card. Then install the stock ROM."
(From this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/help/recover-data-soft-bricked-s4-i9505-t3236351)
Would someone be able to point me toward the correct process for recovering my files? I will appreciate it immensely.
Thanks very much!

It is the UK unlocked LTE version. I think the version number currently on the phone is i9505xxuhoj2 . However every place I have tried to DL from is one of those sites where you must sign up or it gives you an impractically low speed (sporadic connection means it cuts off the download quite quickly).
Thanks very much.

I read your message very well, just "i9505 demo" seems complicating, as the live demo version of the i9505 is the i9505X that's all what i was saying, so if you're sure you have a i9505 phone, then it's not demo.
Back to your problem:
1-what recovery are you using? If TWRP then what version?
2-what rom did you try to flash? And what did you wipe before flashing?

Ok, what TWRP are you using? you should flash android 6 or 7 with the latest TWRP 3, not with an older version, also for stock rom you should download it from a trusted site like sammobile.com, or samsung-firmware.org, other than those i wouldn't recommend, and use Odin 3.07 or 3.09, those versions works for everyone.
