Oreo Update in MoTo G5 plus - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

HeY GuYs,
We know that we can trust MoToRoLa for updating our G5 Plus and other devices but what do you guys think when would it come an update to Nougat 7.1.1 or 7.1.2 would not be appreciated To Be Honest, lets see but tell me your opinion when should MoToRoLa announce the update for G5 Plus I know its not much time between the Oreo Announcement and I dont think it would reach these budget devices so early, but still our thinking can reach anywhere LOL ,
Also in update MoToRoLa should improve the HD camera at 60 fps, turning off NFC doesn't work i still get that pink tint and not only in dark also when there's light, I don't think my hardware has any problems, 30 fps work pretty well
ASAP

I doubt we will see 7.1.x at all, and Oreo I give a 50/50 chance with the earliest being Nov-Dec time frame... Until then nothing but maybe a simple security update. Just my opinion and experience from owning several Moto devices.

This phone is only about 6 months old now, so I would expect to see an official Oreo update in the next few months.

Lot of Users Trust MoToRoLa I think as well that it would get Oreo Update
Thanks For Voting

G5 Plus will get Oreo in December!

How do you know it's December?

Guys The Official Oreo update in MoTo G5 Plus is announced
Congratulations all MoTo G5 Plus Users

oreo is 100% confirmed by motorola and lenovo for moto g5 and up (g5 plus, g5s, g5s plus and play 2 up)

I too doubt that we would see any update past Android 7.0; we will likely go straight to Oreo.

It's almost February , but no Oreo update till now. I'm quitting Moto

We should be next in line for the soak tests now that Moto is/has already been beta testing Oreo for Z and Z2 series and I'm sure we'll be next. Starting mid February, keep an eye out on the Reddit forums and XDA news for any info about soak tests for G5/S Plus variants.

We just need camera drivers to have official CM7 fully working.

Xperiya x8 appeared only in 2010 (Sony Ericsson x8 released to the market Q3 2010)and I have not seen that done on the official site. This is the last chance. If you do not want to you can not do.
What for to have an official 2.2 or 2.3?
Our custom's roms are not perfect, but they are already good enough for daily use, even better than the official 2.1.
Maybe official rom has warranty, but i don't care because my phone warranty is going to end next month.

Agreed with you, How. Our custom ROMs are near perfect only, guys. And yeah... my warranty is gonna end next year on February. Our custom ROMs is WAY better than what SE gave us, it can go for 5 days of minimum usage ( I mean VERY VERY minimum). How bout SE's 2.1? I think not even a day.
I think, custom ROM will be the best choice for us
thank you for all devs here..

It can be. If you set your setcpu to 128MHz and very little usage and all kinds of tweaks for battery... Its possible even more

I'm sure that if SE delivers a 2.2/2.3 official ROM, it will be slow and not ready for daily use.
Just look the example of the official 2.3 ROM for X10. It's really slow and not handly.
A custom ROM works really fine. Im happy with GingerDX and I'll use it for a long, long time. I dare to say that GingerDX performs much better than stock 2.1 ROM.
Im a SE fan, but I must recognize that the stock ROMs they build are bad, that's big contrast with the physical design of their smartphones, so beautiful pieces.

If a minimum usage, i believe the battery can stand over 5days, up to 9days.
I had 4 days before, with almost 90% standby time at the first 3days, with 76% battery left.

Yes, of course official ROMs can't get better than CM.
SE has offered support to CyanogenMod developers, but only for the 2011 Xperia lineup. I think one last update for our great-little phone is quite impossible (how can SE fill an updated x8 with all their useless and heavy applications without making it unusable?).
I think that would be enough to give Cyanogen guys all possible drivers to provide full compatibility for their latest release. It would be more than enough for me.

x10 fans demanding se for ics.

all x10 fans should keep raining emails to sony ericsson company and demanding for ics update, the should update this phone, well if the strategy is to update all android phone, x10 is an android phone and was not in the list, plz we should rain emails and complains, all se android phones should be updated in addition for the x10.
all with me????
plz people i need ur support.
or even ics didnt work on x1o any updated version of android more than 2.3.3
support meee plz
Fat hope. They only said they will update all their 2011 android phones. It is sad, yes, but it is to be expected. No realist will be surprised that se is not updating the x10.

There's no point in doing this though...we don't even know whether the X10 can handle AOSP 4.0, and don't even say anything about SE's ICS, it would only make it more hardware demanding

This quote right here is why it's probably not 4.4. Never before has Verizon ever been "on it" with updates.

Weren't they the first with 4.3 for the Galaxy s4? That's all I'm basing my remark for. I could be wrong though. But hey, maybe they are turning things around haha
Got my invite for the soak test as well. Don't think mentioning it here will raise a red flag with Moto as I chimed in on the last soak test here and some other site and didn't get kicked out of it. Now if I divulged anything from said soak test, I'm sure that would be a different story. Bring on the KitKat!!

while i mostly agree with your opinion (i mean i don't think verizon has ever released a new FW before another carrier ever in their existence), what could they be updating. just bug fixes on their end? Since moto never did a 4.3 FW for the moto x it couldn't be that. What is really scary is, if it isn't 4.4, then they may be expecting not to do a 4.4 for another few months. wouldn't make much since to fix bug issues in 4.2.2 if they have already or are about to begin fixing things for a 4.4 update...
If Verizon lands 4.4 before the new year, I will be very surprised. Their track record, while it does have a few anomalies, is awful.
Just speculating but knowing big red it's probably not even a version bump lol... BUT it may be 4.4 since it seems that Motorola is taking a very hands on approach to the updates on the X.

No feature added , just feels little smoother. Had issue with two beeps of locking sound, now haven't seen that. Battery looks slightly improved but wait can't judge it on 3 hrs of usages , after 2-3 cycles it may be clear. Lastly the updated android security patch of April . Will revert back if anything weird happens but nothing till now everything good.

A bit off topic: Since u have imported ur device, will you still get LG India warranty. Asking this because the so called "bootloop" issue is spreading like forest fire amongst the G4 users.

Have yet to see Indians complain about it. 30K G4's imported into the country, where are they ?
When i went through a russian thread and used google translate i counted about 25. Out of how many. thousands ?
The bulk of people complaining are single sim. And the poll thread showed they were concentrated around the early builds.

Thats right. Each time you update your phone, you make it different, its like having new phone. To develop a ROM, its needed a core or code given by samsung. As a part of a planned obsolescence, Samsung shares less often such code, because they want to sell the new phones.
