So, I did a warranty replacement on my Verizon Z Force and the jerkwads sent it with 7.0 (bye bye hotspot). Well anyways while messing around in the settings I clicked "Android Version" under About Phone 3 times and a big "N" superimposed on my screen. While clicking and long pressing it two different icons popped up underneath; one is a circle with a slash through it typically indicating no (I.e. no smoking sign) and the other appears to be an emoji fox? I'm adding screenshots so hopefully someone knows what it is. Might just be a weird Easter egg but it seemed cryptic like there was something I wasn't doing to get it to respond right. Any thoughts?

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I'm a veteran Xda-er having had 3 I's ( I lose them!) and now a II (love it) but I'm new to this forum lark!!
On the menu bar at the very top of the screen on occasion an icon appears that I cannot identify in any of the documentation.
The icon seems to appear at randon times, and on soft reset, sometimes disappearing almost imediately sometimes lingering for several seconds. The only way to descibe it is as a small head and shoulders icon with a cross inside and a curved 'telephone' below to the left! Sorry for the rubbish description, but hopefully someone will know what I mean, I have attached a pic.
if someone could let me know what (if anything) it means that'd be great, cheers
lee
As far as I know it means you cannot make a voice call whilst that is displayed i.e. when you are downloading over GPRS it seems to come up. I might be wrong but I'm sure thats what it is
seems to make sense
cheers
This is the program icon of IA CallerID.
Right, and that it pops up every now and then is just damn useless...

hi guys
i thought it was something to do with the memory because when it comes up the phone is very slow to respond.

Has anyone else notice the 'dot bug' on the home screen?
if your on the main homescreen (screen 3), it should have 2 dots in each bottom corner indicating 2 screens to the right and 2 to the left.
if i go into an app from screen 5 and then exit the app by pressing the home button, it takes me to screen 3 however i have 4 dots on the bottom left - which is obv wrong!
I only noticed it after the new update (which i did manually)...i havent rooted.
Easy to reproduce, sounds like a simple bug and the developer of the activity needs a holiday
The same bug is affecting me - nice catch!
Same issue here, not so perfect phone now You'd think they'd test updates before rolling them out, saying that it is a minor thing but would be nice of them to sort it out as soon as possible and the Carrier | (pipe) issue too.
yeah i would think that they would catch something like that but i guess not. Some people are saying they are not experiencing the bug, mostly people that have received the update via OTA; then again others say they have. I still haven't updated figured i would wait for the OTA but i'm getting impatient..
Same here. Updated via OTA
I think everyone with the update has it. Doesn't bother me any; my screens are all different enough from each other that I can tell at a glance which one I'm on, so I never look at the dots.

Done the manual update as well and I have the bug as well. Not that it's annoying or anything

Assume this requires root?
Did anyone just try pressing on one of the dots to switch screens, then going back? Mine had this when I first updated, but I did that, and haven't had it since (even after power down).

that doesn't solve it mikeybags, you'll see if you try it with an app on another screen, open the app from the other screen then hit home, you'll see the dots dont go back to ".." ".."
You don't even have to move screens or press the dots to fix this...
Just hold the background and move half-way as if you're changing screens and let go.
Fixed.
Why is this such a big deal?

yes sorry i was half asleep when i posted this and only afterwards realized this. well for all you rooted users that updated and are having this problem, there is your fix.
OK, this is probably a dumb question, but I can't find anything on this question anywhere. I have been playing with my stock EVO when, on a couple of occasions, a menu pops up in the middle fo the screen. I can't find any reference to this m enu in the users guide, nor can I reproduce the touches/button presses that it takes to get it to come up. But it looks interesting. It's a full color menu that covers approximately a thiord of the screen's center, with six icons. Since I can't get it to come up again, I can't recall what exact menu items are displayed, but they are icons to applications such as calendar.
Has anyone else seen this menu and know how to get it to pop up consistently?
its your 6 most recently used applications. this happens when you hold down the home screen button.
Thats your recent items menu. Hold the home key for 3-4 seconds and it lists your six most recently used apps.
Hmmmmm awesome! I didnt know that
Thanks!! I would have never figured that out.
And if you just rebooted, it says, "No recent applications."
EDIT: Firmware update in canada fixed these issues.

8min 32seconds. His LED flip cases are getting that spinning circle notification for things like whatsapp and stuff.
All I get on mine is missed call and text.
I don't get missed email alert or missed whatsapp or the spinning circle (which I think is a general notification for any 3rd party app that isn't phone or text)
I checked every setting !
I also did a hard reset (hold down 3 buttons, navigate with volume and hard reset and reboot)
Nothing helped.... I still don't get that spinning circle notification.
Any help would be appreciated.
PS: Samsung support has no idea whats the issue...
I tried hard reset, still not getting it
Any ideas?

I got my Note 4 on the 21st of january, the led flip wallet the day after and I've had de circling dots since the beginning. Running Dutch NK4 build completely stock.
I get the circling dots, I get an an icon when something new arrives but after that.. just the dots.
If I press the side button or open/close the case, all I get is the time - no icons to show what's been missed. Is this the normal/expected way it works?
I'm unimpressed!

I think it only displays missed Call and Text.
For email, whatsapp and all other notifications, it only does the spinning dots.
I get the circling dots pretty much all the time, even when I have no notifications. eg Right now. If I open the cover, slide down the notification panel, there are no notifications. If I close the case, the time briefly displays and the case then goes blank for a whole minute. Then up pops the spinning circle again.
Yes the case is on properly. :crying:
So I'm still getting my new Essential set up and configured to my taste, rooting around through the settings like a pig hunting for truffles, when I went into the About menu. Because I'm bored, I decide to activate the Android Easter egg by tapping on the Android version. Thing is, I'm daydreaming, not paying all that close attention, and I end up tapping on the hardware version, instead. I realize this when the Easter egg doesn't pop up, so I go to tap on Android version instead. I only get a couple taps in when all of a sudden I get one of those gray oval popup notifications at the bottom of the screen that says, "Barcode is back."
I have no idea what that's supposed to mean, I don't see anything new or different anywhere, and searches all over the internet have yielded absolutely nothing on the subject. Anyone have any ideas?
