Can't restore apps through titanium backup after flashing nougat rom - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Using Resurrection remix android 7.1.2. When I tried restoring all apps and data using the donate version, it gets stuck restoring. I tried changing the namespace setting in su app. There's no need to update the binary because I'm using the latest version. Tried changing back up locations. Tried changing the settings in titanium to auto indirect and interactive. Only got some success using the interactive setting by installing the missing apps myself and using titanium to restore data. Even tried using the method to restore apps using update.zip through recovery. I tried everything. Can someone please help me with this its driving me crazy now.

If your backups are located on the microSD card, change the storage provider to Documents provider storage. It's found in the backup folder location setting.
And do not restore system apps.

Already tried that. The backups show up and stuff I don't get the cannot write on this folder kind of message. Its just that when I restore, it just gets stuck restoring. I thought it might only be a problem on android 7 so I flashed the marshmallow version of resurrection remix and I'm still having the same problem. Before the android 7 resurrection remix ROM I was on kushan optimized cyanogenmod 13 which is marshmallow and there was no problem restoring. The only problem was that I couldn't restore from extsdcard but I fixed that doing what you said. However on this marshmallow ROM I'm still having same problems as nougat

Then use an older or newer version of the app.

Tried that. On some versions The titanium backup says unfortunatly titanium backup has stopped and either force closes as soon as I open the app or when I try to restore any app.

The day you backuped your apps and data is it stored on your internal data? As default ?

I'm not too sure what you mean but when I made the backup the default backup location was already set as extSdCard. I use my SD card to store backups.

It was set to internal storage but i changed that to SD card because I was running out of space. Then I made the backup

Titanium backup pro help

Hello, I have just flashed dj05 onto my phone and I'm installing my apps back onto my phone using titanium backup. However, my apps are not showing up in the market under the downloads section.. Last time I flashed a rom I was able to get them to show in the market as downloaded by restoring a file but I cannot remember what file I used.
Anyone else know?

Have you tried Market Doctor? In TB Pro, go to Menu-->More and just select it. Theoretically that should restore the links.

I had a bunch of folders on the screen and these were not restored from backup using TB pro. Is this normal, or folders must have been restored as well?

How to restore all your data after flashing new ROM

Hi,
over the past years I have been flashing more than 50 different ROMs on my S2 so I wanted to share with everyone how I restore my favourite config and data every single time.
I will list all the different items that are important for me to restore. If you want to add others that matter for you please do.
I am NOT going to explain how to flash a new ROM. There are dozens of threads about that already.
BEFORE flashing the new ROM here is what I do:
1) Apps:
Backup all user apps + data with Titanium Backup and save them to external SD card.
2) SMS:
Backup all SMS + Call Log to my Gmail Account with any backup/restore SMS app
3) Calendar and Contacts:
My calendar events are always created on my google or exchange account so I just have to sync, same for contacts.
They are auto restored when logging in to Google account on the newly flashed ROM.
4) Launcher:
I prefer Nova Launcher so it's easy to make a backup of my favourite launcher config.
After this is done (~10 mins of work) you can save your new ROM file to SD card and flash it in recovery mode.
When entering the new ROM (fully wiped!) you can restore everything in the following order:
1) Calendar and Contacts will be auto restored once you are logged in to your Gmail account
2) Install Titanium and restore Apps (some apps don't work when restored so you have to fresh install them, most of them work fine)
3) After apps you restore backed up Nova config
4) Restore SMS and Call log (This can be done at any moment)
The whole process (backup, flash and restore) takes about half an hour maximum.
If someone can improve/approve this method please share!
PS: My question to everyone: Is there a way/app to save/restore the android settings between ROMs?
Try making a CWM backup and restore using Nandroid Manager app
Well that will just restore my backed up ROM right?
The above guide is for installing a new ROM after full wipe and recovering your personal data and apps in that new ROM...

The first step i don`t thing is gonna work if your gonna change from 4.1.2 to 4.2 or 4.3. I guess you have to do some settings in Titanium.
if you dont have important data on the apps you can go to installed app on google play and install them, and if you backed it thru google backup turn on the wifi and it will download them automaticly
quiet imekesm
Backupping apps with TB is kinda useless since Google synchronizes apps from your last installation. Also restoring data could be harmful for your device stability if it runs different android versions. Maybe you should write in OP
I always stay on 4.1.2 because it serves me best so the TB method works perfectly. I also feel like TB does a better job then Google backup

you can also try go backup pro for apks and data ...and my backup pro for phone setting
Google backup restores app data too?

Thanks
Thanks for this. Its been really useful for me
But doing these backups, then changing rom there is the risk of creating compatibility problems?
Only compatibility risk is if you're going to another Android version from what you had before (4.1.2 to 4.2.2 for example). Still most of the apps will work fine...
If an app fc's reinstall it from
scratch, still better then the need to reinstall all of them...

I have found that Titanium Backup works quite well for me. I use the pro versions and haven't had problems restoring apps and even settings after flushing new ROM.

Prep work for ROM upgrade?

What steps do I (or anyone) need to take to prepare for a ROM upgrade ( like sacs)? I have titanium and known how to do a full recovery backup. How would I use titanium?
Use TB to back up all your user apps and data. That way you can restore them after you wipe your phone before installing your new rom. Make sure you change the folder for your backup to the external sdcard first. Also, do not back up system apps with TB. If you restore system apps to a new rom you will be replacing files in the new rom and will most likely have problems. You can also back up you sms and call logs and restore them after install.
There is only the option for apps +system data. Apps. And system data. But no options for apps and data (app data) . Any help?

Help. I made everything hidden

I was messing with snappref for xpossed. And there is an option to hide a folder. I think I may have hidden everything. Cause my pic are not showing on my gallery and none of my music is showing up on the player. Can anyone help me out.
I can use es file explore or even root explorer and I can see the files. So they r all still there.

This is very strange sounding . I'm not familiar with that Xposed module and I have no idea how it works. (I'm assuming that you have the retail Note 3 and are on a 4.4.2 base with Safestrap... and the nandroid backup you're referring to was made in Safestrap prior to the current issue you're having). The easiest fix I can think of would be to flash back to stock 4.4.2 with ODIN and do a thorough wipe (cache and factory reset) in stock recovery.... then go through the process of rooting again with Towelroot, reinstalling safestrap, etc... then try to restore your backup to see if that fixes the problem.
