I've recently tried a cheap high capacity battery, over twice the capacity of the original one (but, of course, twice as fat and heavy). While the battery charges to it's 4.2V and discharges down to about 3.5V properly (tested manually, with the multimeter), the phone keeps reporting the battery as 1230mAh, tracking it accordingly. This causes the phone to go from 100% down to 15% at about the speed it would with the original battery and then remain at 15% for a full day. Similarly, charging the battery makes it go to 100% twice as fast as it should, yet the battery keeps charging after it reaches those virtual 100%, up to the proper 4.2V, with the proper current (NOT trickle charging).
I've already tried the obvious (fully charge, delete the stats file, fully use the charge, then full recharge again), it didn't really help, it only distributed the estimation a tiny little bit.
Any solutions ? Is there a proper way to manually override the battery capacity either with or without recalibration ?

Maybee battery curent widget... inside you have settings/monitoring/battery capacity...
But with that attitude I'm almoust sorry to help you
I am familiar with that widget, overriding the capacity setting there only changes the displayed capacity in the app, it doesn't affect the estimations at all. Sorry, i should have mentioned trying this.
PS: What attitude ? Bumping a thread that got buried on a third page after just 2 days, without a single answer, while most other threads that bury it could be answered using a search button ?! I can assure you, i may do it once again after a week+ or something and then i'll just forget about it, you can check my others threads And yea, they usually remain either unanswered, or self-answered after all (rare, but if it happens, i post my findings in the thread)
PPS: If you consider it such a "bad attitude" just don't bother helping. Thanks.
Battery reading is indeed not 100% perfect. But what ever change we would make. It is not gonna give you extra battery life. Until some one fix it there is no way to read it 100% correct. So that is the whole story.

Well, i don't bet on it to be 100% correct, but it should be something relatively close to the reality, while in case of this particular battery it's nowhere near that.
It assumes 1230mAh, calibrated or not, and i am 100% sure it takes this value from somewhere. In any case, it should be possible to patch, the question is where/how. Since i am not exactly an Android/Linux guru, the only things i did to find it out are searching this forum and doing simple google searches, finding nothing beyond the usual calibration thing. I though maybe someone may know something, that's why i posted the thread. I guess i was wrong about it.
PS: I guess i'll either abandon this, or start my own research, beginning at the source code of the ROM/kernel i use

i think you just need a rom/kernel that support extended batteries.

Tytung R10 does. All those kernels only support "official HTC extended battery" though, and i have yet to find out what does it really mean (read - what's the technical difference between the official and unofficial one). Note that the battery is charged/discharged properly, its just the stats/percentage remaining that go haywire.
mhh, just made some researches...
Stumbled over these threads:
Crazy, that there is a different behaviour if you have an orig. HTC or not...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756513
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948181
Also read somewhere, that you really need to charge your phone to fully 100%, so that current widget shows 0ma...and then let the phone a few more hours at the charger, (DONT remove your charger) then manually delete the batterstats file in /data/system, turn off the device, REMOVE the charger, then boot the device.
Good luck
For those really interested to know what the technical difference between those bats... its the thermistor values range. Thats it.
The different batteries are identified by that thermistor value, all the batteries parameters are in the "ds2746_param_config.h", the table i am interested in modifying is the FL_25, one that defines the full battery capacity.
Sadly, this, most probably, requires a kernel recompilation, something i can't do, not without setting up all the required environment first Or, maybe it's possible to just patch the kernel image with hexeditor, i'll probably take a look.
PS: Thanks for everyone for trying to help.
EDIT: patching zImage would be harder than just recompiling it
not saying this is the right answer or that you haven't already tried but it didn't half help me out as i was only getting 8 hours before i used it, and i only got around 15 hours when i used to use wm, also left a print screen of what i get after i use the features in THIS page...

Anybody know how to disable the low battery restrictions? I like to get every last drop out of my battery before swapping it out. Currently rooted.
You do know that letting Li-Ion batteries fall below about 15-20% on a regular basis will significantly reduce their lifespan and ability to hold a full charge.

I'm desperately trying to find the code to stop these. The auto screen dimming and low battery warnings drive me crazy (the screen dimming in particular. It makes it SO dim it effectively makes the phone in the last five percent completely useless.) If I find a way to disable it in the system, I'll let you know. Till then, I use an app called adjbrightness to force the screen back up to useable brightness when it dims at low battery. (And before any of you who misunderstand what we're talking about responds, the screen dimming that occurs at the last five percent is not the "power saving" feature turning on. We've obviously completely disabled that in the settings. It dims anyway.)

How do I do that, I searched for years for an answer already but haven't found any information. Somehow, my phone magically updated (not my fault) to MF12 (AT&T Android 7.0) and I LOKI rooted it with Safestrap. Now, when I dunk it in water, the moon is pink. Oh, and I'm not a Noob. I've had 768 Android phones and 1 iphone, so I know what I am doing. So if you guys will to do everything for me...I mean...I mean... do anything for me I would be so happy. I have to go post 8 already asked and answered questions in the General section now, so please don't tell me to read for any answers...'cause you guys are condescending dicks. Any help?

I did not know this. I thought it was better to fully discharge before charging again?
I used this app, works great for me:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.pruss.superdim
^That Root Dim app kicks ass, great app and a fair solutions. Bummer we have to work around but hey it works. I have a zerolemon and 5% is good for quite a long time, that dimmer made the phone useless in direct sunlight. screwed me over a few times..
thanks for the tip

20%, 5%, 1%, it really doesn't matter.
Your phone screams "0%" and shuts itself down when the battery hits about 3V. The battery protection circuit only kicks in at 2.5V. When your phone switches itself off you can safely leave the battery "empty" for at least a year or two before it self-discharges beyond repair.
All those "keep your battery above x %" superstitions are in the same boat as the long debunked "deleting batterystats.bin calibrates your battery" myth.
well this conversation has been highly entertaining and shows the deep divide between "leave your battery to run out" or "don't let your battery completely run out" either way how one manages their battery is their business ?
About the warning sound on older devices:
1) rooted android
2) replace system/media/audio/ui/LowBattery.ogg with a still ogg file.
I hope it will help

Why would Kingoapp say they did root it if not? I'm not sure about the bootloader, but if one can get root without twrp with Kingoapp and get Root and fire up Adaway that would be nice. It seems it's the only real option for getting adds away. I'm so tired of the lockings and adds. *Sigh*
I think I found one solution without rooting it seems that Adblock Plus is running in the backgrond is not working as it should tested in Chrome and on Fly mode with Network connection were it should work with localhost and port 2020 *I think it was*. So I installed Adblock Browser and it worked with removing adds but had issue with Youtube, because it opened the program from youtube which took me some time to find out what was going on. I thought I was still running in the browser but nope! I don't know why it wants to open up in youtube iv not referred or confirmed that it should do it to my knowledge and that is not ad free for sure.
So I found out I could "uninstall" the Youtube app *I don't really think you can make a full uninstall of youtube, but at least it seems as it turns it off and looks like it can quickly be turned on again if one likes in apps*
And it now it plays from the Browser as it should - so I'm testing if it plays ads on youtube now. Hopefully not but it seems there is this unnecessary fight to push on people things they don't want!
I have another Browser as well - but it seems Adblock browser may be the best choice. And for now, may Jehovah Bless you and keep you il continue testing.
*Sigh* close to a need for battery charge. Like charging this 3 times a day.
I wonder why with all that Super charge 3 or what it's called - my old note 2 N7105 rooted charged with 2000 mAh using it or not. But this new phone is only sucking around 150-800 mAh when one is using the phone when charging. Sure it reaches som over 2500 mAh some times when it's charging when in sleep mode but then you cant use it.
So I'm not sure what this fuss is all about in regards of Super charge 3 and faster charging time. I'm not impressed seeing how low a charge I have if I use it at the same time.
A full charge I think takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes if in sleep mode.
Looks like it will not play all youtube videos, iv not had any ads or commercial yet - but I run into a video it won't run in the adblock browser itself.
Il continue testing and see were it gets me
Also in adblock you can play youtube video and have it play in the background and do other things.

Because Kingoapp want's everyone to browse their sponsored website and download the app so they can profit from click baits and ads. Though their app works for cheap chinese smarphones, it will fail if you try it on your V20 device. remember if you can't see a valid post from XDA that it actually works then their claims are not reliable.
So, I just tested my old Phone with my 2 Battery packs and the old and new charger and it says 2000 mAh with all of them using application Ampere to measure.
But on the new phone it's way far lower then those readings.
But the V20 just stays on the low end and I have 5 programs doing the measure which looks to record the same thing. If you use the phone it's around 500 mAh or less. If your in the look screen or sleeping you may get it to around 1500 mAh with the 2 Battery packs and the old Charger.
I'm not going to do the math and do some calculations on the size of the battery and the time it takes to charge it - but if the numbers are correct I don't see much improvement on this technology that tend to be very low in charging when using the phone at the same time. It may also be effected by how hot the phone is, iv seen the charging going pretty low when it becomes a hand warmer when using it and then charging would take a very long time - but even when it's cold it's in the low end of around 500 mAh.
The only positive thing is when it's not being used and it kicks into around 2500 mAh but that is not all of the time charging. Not that I tend to use the phone much when I charge it - but if one was sitting in the train and wanted to give it some quick juice to the phone and meanwhile using it - it would not be an amazing result. One would need a longer trip really get something out of it.
The result may be in error in regards of numbers, we know the battery has 3200 mAh and it takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes I think it was to make a full charge when not in use. So one could do the math.
It seems like the charging is lower in around the last 20% of the V20 phone. Now at 96% and 744 mAh and just some minutes ago it was around 900 mAh.
Whatchu talking bout, Willis?
Is this a question about rooting or a oddly worded rant?
I am perplexed.

I am pretty sure I already know the answer, but I am going to ask anyway.
Has anyone found a way to get the battery to show 100% on the rooted Snapdragon version yet?
The battery percent doesn't bother my much, but when I check the battery stats it always shows my phone as being on battery, never plugged in and the screen on time never resets so I have no actual idea of my battery stats.
I don't want to give up my root, but having accurate battery stats is important to me.
Thanks.

Nope.
It won't happen either without a bootloader unlock, so don't hold your breath.
I get as much or more SOT than people with stock ROMs and full charge though, so I don't personally really care lol. 80 is the new 100
Also jfyi this is like the #1 most asked root question these days so I bet even with a short time on the search engine and you can find out if there are updates on this. Frankly it would be front page news if it happened so I wouldn't worry about missing it lol

I was definitely getting only 80 PCT now that I've gone back to stock I can tell
I wonder if this battery deal has something to do with leftover note7 code when they released the update to only allow it to charge to 80 PCT. Seems too much a coincidence
I get 81% at full charge ?

The s8 kernels arent the same linux kernel version base as the note 7, which means they had to start over applying their patches from a fresh new kernel. Nothing there to leave behind
So here's my little situation, I wanted to just keep this phone stock and not root it for once since I do it for every phone I get. I've only had this thing for a week and I love it... Mostly.
Problem is I have ABYSMAL battery life, loosing 10%+ on "Phone Idle" "Android OS" and "Android System" which typically sucks up around 30% of my battery usage and my SOT can be as low as 60 minutes if I let my phone sit while I work for example. This seems to not be an isolated issue however I have yet to find anybody experiencing such a dramatic loss of battery.
So my questions are is there ANY way to fix this? Been looking all over and it seems to be a software issue thus creating more questions. Looked around and I can't seem to find a way to help this problem.
As far as I am aware there is ABSOLUTELY no way to downgrade my T-Mobile H91810s nor is it possible to root it.
Is this true or am I missing something? I just bought this thing brand new after my ZTE Axon 7 got stolen. ):
So my three main questions: Has anyone find a way to lower battery consumption from those three programs? Is there ANY way to rollback to a previous firmware? Or is it possible to root the H91810s firmware?
I would really appreciate any feedback or answerers from the XDA community. I love this forum and 95% of the time there's anyways a solution to my problems from the amazing people but I'm afraid this might be the other 5%. Anyway thank you again for any feedback!
Losing that much battery that quickly is in no way normal. I get between 3 to 4 hours sot and somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 hours of total life. That's normal usage. Most people here seem to get somewhere in that range or more, I don't try too hard to conserve battery. If you have already factory reset to no avail I would first pick up an extra battery. Shouldn't be any more than $20. This will confirm whether this is a battery issue or related to hardware/software on the phone. If that doesn't work you can grab the patched lgup (somewhere in the guides section) and the 10r h918 kdz. Since you are on arb 1, you can roll back to anything with the same arb version. 10r is arb 1 as well, so it should flash no problems. Put the phone in download mode, and click partition dl on the patched lgup gui. Select the 10r kdz and it will flash every single partition to the phone. This will be a brand new phone with factory fresh firmware/software. Do not attempt to flash anything lower than 10r as I have no idea when arb was implemented for the h918 (I believe it was after 10k). If the problem STILL persists after a kdz restore, then I would guess the unit is defective in someway. @runningnak3d any suggestions or corrections to what I have stated? You know a heck of a lot more when it comes to all things LG and v20
I have never had that kind of battery problem on the H910 or H918 no matter the firmware version. I agree with the suggestion of getting a new battery.
FYI - ARB 1 was implemented in 10p, so you can roll all the way back to 10p or anything in between.

Check the battery optimization and see which apps are unoptimized. If you are using the stock apps for messaging/calling then chances are you have bad network reception. I use airplane mode at home because I'm mostly in the dark area where reception is nill, otherwise my phone's battery in standby lasts less than 6hrs or loses 15-20% overnight. I don't know why the modem eats so much battery in the region of poor reception though. (I have Zuk Z2 as well but I never had to switch it to airplane mode at home and it kept on searching for network all the time without alarming battery usage).
Chances are that your replacement battery is faulty or counterfeit too. I have an LG Battery which was manufactured in January 8th 2018 and its working fine, gives me a full day use from morning till night and I remove the phone from charger before leaving for work. Also, make sure you're using a compatible charger. I have used both QC2.0 and QC3.0 chargers with my phone and its charging speed is the same. (ZUK Z2 comes with QC2.0 charger while I have Leeco's QC3.0 charger too, LG's is QC2.0). Try using a non-QC charger as well which will charger ur battery slow but maybe repairs the memory-effect-like problems with your battery.

So my three main questions: Has anyone find a way to lower battery consumption from those three programs?
So my questions are is there ANY way to fix this? Been looking all over and it seems to be a software issue thus creating more questions. Looked around and I can't seem to find a way to help this problem.
As far as I am aware there is ABSOLUTELY no way to downgrade my T-Mobile H91810s nor is it possible to root it.

Several things you can try. Depends how long and hard you are willing to keep at it.
For starters when you boot into recovery, do you see an option to wipe cache ? if so wipe, reboot back and see whether it fixes anything
I've had this happen to a couple tablets. You may need to reset the battery logic.
Turn off the phone.
Pull the battery.
Press and hold the power button for one full minute.
Let the phone sit for 10 minutes without the battery in it.
Put the battery back in and boot up.
I hope this works for you.

Am curious as to what 'reset battery logic' means ?
Is this when you use a bigger battery and you want it to recalibrate or something

A feature called Battery Stats, which keeps track of battery capacity, when it is full or empty. The problem is that it sometimes becomes corrupted and starts displaying data that isn’t real. This is an attempt to get the OS to correct this information.

here we are ten days later and the OP has yet to show. I suppose this problem must not be a problem anymore ?
rctd and Triton are really the batteries EATERS!!!.I uploaded h918 10s kernel with it removed

The same is happening with my LG V20 H918. When I charge it using a fast charger (I have a Motorola G5 Plus), it shows me fast-charging and simply shows 100% within 10-15 minutes. That means it is wrong information.
So I tested by using my V20 until it got discharged and turned off automatically, and then charged it completely for several hours. What happened next, its battery worked for full 2 days.

any info on what Triton is?? I see that in the processes too often as well...
My guess would be something related to rctd...ccmd doesn't seem to hurt nothing and from what I read...(a little)..ccmd is a security fuse or exploit..that kicks in the lock-out timer for password...or criminals as us..:silly:..but I found the Triton file inside the in it.rc inside the kernel and turned it off.. And changed the way it wrote|write..to the system per se..

Could be a bad battery. I bought a battery and for some reason it won't let the processor go offline. With 2 of the batteries the phone sleeps just fine, but with the third battery I get horrible battery life and it shows Android system and phone idol eating up battery life and also 3c toolbox shows that the processor is not going offline. Kind of strange, but could just be a bad battery. You can get a new one on eBay for $9 and free shipping! The last one I got is great!
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I bought a used Sprint v20 in "VG" condition. The phone looks really clean. But the phone is getting very hot with light browser use in a short time, and drains very quickly. I didn't install any facebook or anything but it may come with Sprint. Anyhow the battery issue is pretty bad so far. However I decided to turn off the location and that seems like it may be part of the problem. However not terribly happy that the GPS eats the battery and causes heat issues, but what can I do. Also noticed someone else with problems mentioned the verizon model. I wonder if the Sprint and Verizon versions have issues. :/ Also my battery was manufactured in 2017/02 and is official. I could replace it but with the heat and GPS issues, it seems like the problem is likely hardware / software related and not the battery itself.

You should be able to root as I was on 10s and was able to root using lafsploit : https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/root-lafsploit-h918-version-t3773443
Just make sure to rollback to 10p using LGUP, and getting the right .dll file.
P.S : When you use LGUP choose the 'Upgrade' option and not 'downgrade'
