The ultimate solution for assigning an action or application to the Bixby button
I found a trick to assign the Bixby button to an action, application and more... Support a single click, double-click and hold (also works the screen off)
Here are the functions you can assign to the Bixby button
Navigates: back, home, recent apps...
Controls: sleep/wake up, show power menu, shutdown, reboot, expand notifications panel...
Rotation control.
Media controls: play/pause, next, previous, stop...
Fast scroll: scroll to top/ bottom.
Edit: copy, paste...
Universal copy, one tap copy text every where.
Settings: auto brightness, rotation, wifi, mobile data...
Start app/shortcut/activity, finish activity, previous app/next app, kill app...
Freezer: freeze/thraw app.
Input gesture, key event, text...
Shortcut panel, app drawer, freezer drawer, side bar...
Floating widget.
Swipe adjust: swipe on the edge to adjust brightness, screen filter, volume...
Gesture pointer, extends your finger.
Notification, speech, toast.
Screen filter, torch.
Conditional: if screen on, keyguard on, wifi connected/disconnected, battery level, time period, wifi connected to, app focused...
Multi action, saved multi action.

The zip to uninstall Xposed if it still causes you problem :
http://fastkit.org/xposed/classic/Uninstaller/xposed-uninstaller-20170719-arm64.zip
Have you tried on which ROM and what version of Android?
And with what you flasher it TWRP or FlashFire?
Because it should not pose any problem even under the model on Snapdragon.
If you want to try again to install Xposed here is another threads :

This is the same procedure.

Which carrier model do you have and on what firmware version? I have heard there are some issues with Xposed on perhaps the Sprint models? I have the Verizon S8+ and Xposed installed just fine for me.
I am using the AQGL sprint system file provided by sammobile and flashfire to install the zip. I haven't had the time to retest this, but was able to remap the bixby button with just a root explorer.
Sprint seems to be the last to get cool updates, so I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't work for some reason just on our phones.

Xposed update Nougat, Oreo and Android 8.0 and 8.1
Great way to redo the Bibxy button.
Hm, i did just the first step with changing the generic file, and it launches camera (like I wanted), but it doesn't work with screen off. Is there anything else i should do, or it works just with screen on?

There is a possibility to make it work, but you have to buy the Xposed edge pro app for that. After you have to program a condition that I put on video. I made the condition assuming you have a password to disguise the screen.

Please guys, there would be no help given if the problem is not because of xnote.
Before asking mods related stuff please check if there is an xposed module active as almost all the time that seems to be problem.
And for people having 4g issues. This thread is for N9005 ,not for any other variants. We still try to help as much as we can. But dont move questions between threads.. if you need help. Pm users like @djbrian52 @Upstreammiami @Ark1406 as they are pretty helpful when it comes to other variants. As for other questions if not answered promptly please eat @Khizar 's brain

A. Go into X-Note Control, Extra Settings, then uncheck both show/hide home button and show/hide lock button. And Restart SystemUI.

Q."Can I overclock on X-Note Kernel?"
A. No
Q."The bootanimation is so flashy, too flashy for my eyes to bear, I'm planning to move on to another ROM if they don't change this!!!"
A. HOLD UP! You can change the boot animation easily by going into the OTA section of X-Note, download the BIOS boot animation and flash it in recovery. OR! You can flash the zip provided by myself (fahadali2315) on the 3rd post below that would get you the default X-Note 7 Boot Animation!
FIRMWARE/RECOVERY/BOOT/KERNEL RELATED
Q."Would I need the Poland firmware to install? Or can I use my locally released KK as a base for flashing X-Note?"
A. If you have KitKat already installed, you will already have the bootloader required to flash X-Note. Hence, all you need to do is get to KitKat using any method
Q."What other kernels should I try?"
A. CivZ's SnapKat Kernel or Wootever's N3 Kernel are quite good. NOTE: You WILL trip your KNOX if you haven't already.
Q."What is the difference between stock kernel and stock kernel with init.d added?"
A. The init.d is a more advanced user option, where it allows the automatic execution of the scripts contained with /system/etc/init.d folder at each boot. Only select this if you plan to use scripts.
Q."What is this BTU CSC? What would happen if I live in XXXXX and my region is not specified?"
A. CSC means Customer Sales Code, and contains Carrier Settings and information. Installing a BTU CSC on an Australian device would not affect anything. It only gives you extra options.
Q."Why isn't my modem updated after installing the ROM? It's still at NA2!"
A. The ROM does not, and will never have, a modem install option. If you want to install/update a specific modem, you will have to flash it in Odin manually.
KITKAT 4.4 RELATED
Q. I cannot get into Tablet mode ?
A. It is because of the lovely updates from GOOGLE to blame
Q."Ongoing notifications are pushed down and temporary notifications are placed on top of the ongoing notifications! What's going on?"
A. This is a new Android 4.4 feature and is not yet changeable.
Q."On 4.3 when I swiped down on the notification bar, no matter where I swiped I would be able to pull it down. Now on the latest X-Note, when I swipe close to the right of the screen, the notification bar goes from transparent to dark...why is this?"
A.There is no workaround for this, as this is an official 4.4 feature so that it allows users to view the notification status bar with a solid background instead of intruding what is behind it. It is a visually pleasing feature over functionality.
Q."What is the Kit Kat Addons in Aroma?"
A. They are the CM11 apps that get installed usually when you install a CyanogenMod ROM, they include the AOSP Clock, 8sms and AOSP Calculator apps.
XPOSED/OTHER MODSQ. "When I press the volume buttons on the homescreen, I get a volume scrubber with a gear icon. When I click on the gear icon, it enlarges but there used to be more options to scrub for Media, System and Alarm. What happened?"
A. This is due to GravityBox. Make sure you select Media Tweaks -> Expandable Volume Panel -> Fully Expandable Volume Panel and if you want Expand Automatically.
Q."What's wrong with Xposed? Whenever I enable a module, nothing happens!"
A. Have you installed the latest version of Xposed and rebooted.
Q."The call recorder function only gives me a hissing noise when I playback, what's wrong?"
A. Not Supported in 4.4.2
Q: Why is YouTube force closing as soon as I click on it on my launcher?
A.The latest Youtube as of March 13th conflicts with the Xposed module YouTube AdAway, Disable it in Xposed and it will stop force closing on app start.The latest update in Xposed Installer (1.6) fixes the crash, so make sure you update it
Q. My Playstore shows incompatible phone when i try downloading some apps?
A. Download xposed module Playstore Fixes and set your phones original density(480) to sent to google. Then it will work
Q. I have weird looking bar on top of Contacts/Dialer.
A. Disable Menu Overflow from Gravitybox.
Thanks to @Khizar for this find.
OTHERS
Q. Screen Rotation is not working after deleting SamsungHub.apk?
A. Flash this file to fix it .Link Thanks to @Killberty for the link
Q."After flashing the ROM my Wifi and 4G/3G is not very good, what's wrong?"
A. It is not the ROM's fault, this is your Modem. Make sure you installed your region's modem on your phone. Don't go around asking where to get the 'latest' modem, as the latest is not the greatest in all cases. Use the modem you usually believe to be the best. 4.3 modems are not compatible with 4.4 ROMs.
Q.Is this ROM working properly on other variants?
A. It works well on N900W8 and N900T provided that you install the patches required for it to work. There is also an N900A version on the AT&T section.
Q."How do I dirty flash this ROM?"
A. This is generally not recommended, but if you must do it on your own JUST FLASH THE AROMA SETUP AND IT WILL WIPE YOUR SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY .
Q."Something is wrong with my multiwindow, shown here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiqktHuVa6A
A. Well, you're a strange one, If you are using Swiftkey, stop using it now. If not, flash the latest ROM and see if it fixed.
Q."My battery is draining heavily! What's going on?"
A. Download BetterBatteryStats from the second post of this thread and look for what is eating your battery and greenify that damn app :BBS LINK
Q. What should I do if my NFC/BT/Wifi isn't working?
A. Make sure you have flashed stock, kernel, modem, and everything up to date on the 4.4.2 iterations of the files. If you have anything 4.3, that is likely to cause problems. DO NOT FLASH THE N900W8 NFC/Wifi/BT FIX AS IT WILL NOT HELP. Clear your cache/dalvik cache.
KNOX
Q."I don't want to trip KNOX when installing X-Note! How should I approach this?"
A. Use this Guidebut there is no definite proof of not tripping KNOX if you know what you're doing.Be sure that you do not install any recovery from Aroma Installer, or else say goodbye to your KNOX Warranty.
IF YOU FOLLOW FLASHING ANY OTHER WAY YOU WILL DEFINATELY TRIP KNOX 0x1
TIPS- Samsung Email have big characters when writing a email in some density, recommended to install in aroma AOSP email or use Xposed
- Use Xlarge res (with xposed app settings module) for samsung Video app (com.samsung.everglades.video) at lower densities
FOR X-NOTE CANADIAN N900W8If you're on N900W8 Canadian,Follow this link to get a fully working X-Note
Link
Q: Will this new update trip my KNOX when I'm already on the 0x0 leaked Mexican Bootloader?
A: No it will not. No updates will. No kernels will. As the recovery does not write to the Bootloader, your bootloader will always be "happy".
Q. "What other kernels should I try if I'm a Canadian user?"
A. CivZ's SnapKat kernel or Wootever's N3 Kernel (Make sure you select the N900T version)
Q. What should I do if my NFC/BT/Wifi isn't working?
A. Did you flash the NFC/Wifi/BT fix? If yes, make sure you cleared cache and dalvik, as well as Fixing Permissions in CWM/TWRP so that the permissions are cleaned next boot.
Q. "How do I dirty flash this ROM?"
A. Check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50477486&postcount=662

You CAN install N9005 ROMs on other variants, for example the N900T, N900W8,

Updating Bootloader or Modem
if you are already on stock kitkat 4.4 , you dont need the bootloader . If you are on 4.3 flash the bootloader provided in OTA links same goes for MODEM.
Procedure for MODEM
1.Download the file for modem ,
2. Power off your phone completely , press home +vol down + power and go into download mode when it shows two options press volume up
3.Plug your phone into PC
4.Open Odin 3.09 and select CP or for older versions select phone
5.Choose the modem.tar.md5 file you downloaded .
6.Dont touch anything else in odin
7.Start the procedure , it will restart the phone itself . Go in about device if it still shows NA2 or older baseband do the procedure again .
it tends to work the second time.
Same Procedure for BOOTLOADER
Just change CP OR PHONE TO AP OR PDA for Bootloader in odin.

The only possible way to center the clock is using xposed modules, but it won't work if you have OGbatteryMod enabled As it interferes with other statusbar mods .
So if you are willing to disable OGBATTERY, then you can center the clock however you want.
1. how to move clock to center together with the network meter? (tried with gravity box, not moved. didn't use wanam since it will cover the network meter) edit: so which module do you use to center the clock and make battery circle with %?
2. how to disable og battery mod? (since i read, it does interfere with other xposed module...) edit: ah...you explained it again above
3. is solo reading this thread? maybe he can give some answer...
Erase your BatteryMod by flashing the erase file .
BatteryMod Erase & Restore
Use Gravity Box or wanam Xposed to do whatever you want after that
Wanam has all the features . Battery % and statusbar mods . Check them out.
This thread is a great idea... thanks.
Q. How can I restore the stock boot animation with sound?
Wow Using Wanam after ages and this is what i make of my notification bar it took me less than 5mins.

Not really. A new Samsung "feature" is to disable any new baseband updates on 4.4.2 if you don't have "official" rom/kernel status. In order to flash a new baseband you need to use TriangleAway to get official status, boot immediately to download mode and install a modem with Odin.

DISCLAIMER
AS ALWAYS DO ON YOUR OWN RISK. HARDWARE MOD can potentially damage or burn your device
don´t come to cry if your phone xploded,nuclear blasted or melted
Use 2 sim + 1 Micro SD card at the same time
Is not that hard and will be easy for less experienced hobbyists
So here we go : (pictures are bellow)
--Micro-SIM heated above a under cup of HOT coffee or HOT tea or HARIRA for a few seconds until the plastic was soft.
--gently bent down the soft plastic then and slide the gold-plated part(chip with contact plate). This part bend in any case! Now you have a MICRONANO-SIM (still smaller than Nano-SIM).
--Super Glue MICRONANO SIM on the SD card.the sim card will be a little over the edge of the SD card, as the drawer of the phones it has a recess. (SIM is 90 degrees rotated to the SD card inserted) Had me the exact position of the SIM previously penciled in pencil on the SD card. Recommendation: During the gluing, cover the terminals of the SD card with tape to prevent superglue boils.

Quick query - I just got the phone, and I have the global 7.1.7.0 version. So if I want to switch to the developer ROM, I just have to download the updater file, choose the package from the updater section in settings and just flash it? No need for root or bootloader unlocking?

I can't get te screenshot because I remove it.
But it's logic, the Xposed files that you uploaded are for Redmi Note 3 Hennesy (MTK) not Kenzo (SD) because MTK uses MIUI 7 based on 5.0.1 and SD uses MIUI 7 based on android 5.1.0.
SDK21 is for Android 5.0.1 and SDK22 is for Android 5.1.0 You known what I mean?

If not working you are from the bad uck guys and YOU HAVE to apply for unlock permission here en.miui.com/unlock !!! and wait until you have confirmation SMS with password to unlock

thanks for the heads up i mixed the files. OP updated
Hi @Perfectdevil
Firstly, thank you very much for creating this thread for the Redmi Note 3 PRO.
Second, please check the information in your OP. The China DEV ROM 6.3.17 does indeed have ROOT - you just need to enable it from the Security/Permissions App. This will download and install an update providing native root access. It's not quite as useful as SuperSU but it does work.
Please check your instructions for loading TWRP because this method (which was originally posted by @feds64 on Mi Forums) does not result in a permanent TWRP installation. (TWRP disappears after reboot). This is all explained in thread on MI forums, and the only way to get it to work is to flash a cracked boot.img.
Without a lasting TWRP (or with stock recovery only) things like Flashify just won't work. So we can't use Flashify to flash Xposed without TWRP. And if you have TWRP, then Flashify is not necessary.
Anyway, look forward to more info here.

Flashfire requires SuperSU (doesn't seem to work with native root).
And TWRP is required to install SuperSU

Thanks! One more query - is the developer rom filled with chinese bloatware? And can we make the language into English?
CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 6.0.1(Marshmallow), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

As for the camera, trying to figure it out but when it fixes ill post an update . Planning to do weekly updates if I have time (coming up to exams). Have you installed the ROM? wow just installed runs silky smooth will monitor battery life etc and provide more feedback as I use this more , very nice rom tyvm.
installed with no issues, it seems very nice. is there an option somewhere for an on screen navigation bar? i can't find build.prop either to add it in myself manually
edit: found build prop but qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 doesn't seem to have worked
edit 2: never mind, it worked after all
Rooted my Tab S for the first time and am running this rom. It was the rom I was able to successfully add the nav bar and disable the capacitive buttons without an issue. So far so good.

Sure I can share. First make sure you have root file manager like root explorer or the root browser in rom toolbox.
To enable the navigation bar
Open "/system/build.prop" and add this line at the bottom of the file.
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Hit save.
BEFORE THE NEXT STEP PLEASE REBOOT NOW TO MAKE SURE THE NAVIGATION BAR SHOWS UP.
After you've confirmed the navigation bar is enabled, open up root file manager.
To disable the capacitve buttons;
Open "system/usr/keylayout/sec_touchkey.kl"
If you're asked to open the file as, choose text. Add a pound sign # in front of the 158 and 254 keys like this;
Code:
# key 158 BACK
# key 254 APP_SWITCH
Hit save. Reboot and now the back and app switch buttons should do nothing. They will still light up so turn that off in the settings menu.
I left the home button enabled as this is a button you really have to push unlike the capacitive buttons. Also I don't know if it would affect the finger swipe feature for unlocking the device.
If you would still want the home button disabled open the file "system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl" and look for key 172 and add # in front like this ;
Code:
# key 172 HOME
That's it.

Hi,
Im experiencing a few issues and not sure if its related to this ROM or not.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S T-800
1 - I cannot see any 5ghz wifi connections any longer.
2 - my 2.4ghz wifi connections intermittently drop out for no reason, i.e. i could be playing a game and it will just drop the wifi connection and reconnect 20-30 seconds later.
3 - Not sure if related but the game Hearthstone (Blizzard) does not open for me any longer, it will crash almost instantly with an error.
4 - The home screen usable space has significantly reduced (possible launcher/setting issue, will get a picture for this)
I will mention here that none of the above were an issue prior to flashing from stock/factory.
Hi everybody, I recently got a 2016 Tab A 10.1 and I was wondering if there is any way I can disable the capacitive buttons and replace them with on-screen buttons as I press them very often by accident when I'm using the tablet in landscape mode and it's really annoying.
I haven't rooted it yet but I don't mind to do so if needed.
Hi buddy, I had the same problem specially when playing Asphalt 8 and pressing by accident the recent app button then I get kicked form the race...
There is a way to deactivate the buttons temporally.
Go to settings then to lockscreen and then to advanced security and check pin apps (or something similar) it will give you the ability to lock the back and recent apps and also home button when you want to so pressing them will result in nothing, the only way to disable it is to press both back and recent apps together at the same time.
It's not a perfect solution but it's pretty handy and it suits me well, I don't feel the need to root and disable capacitive buttons.
Voilà https://www.cnet.com/how-to/ho-to-pin-apps-in-android-5-lollipop/
You'll be able to do this, so you can get ride of capacitive buttons when you need to.

Do you have any idea if there is any custom rom allowing such a thing?

Well, I am not aware of any custom rom that has this option included ,the only rom I know exist here over XDA is a light rom (not very custom just a stock rom without some stuff) made by a member for personal use , he got rid of bloat ware and made it Xposed or something .
As for capacitive buttons, of course you can turn them off easly with root, I believe there are apps that deactivate them and replace it with softkeys just like all other android phones.
Hi, my solution was to install these two apps (free and no root needed) to disable anoying physical buttons and enable virtual ones "à la nexus"

no action for recent apps and back buttons

Hi,
in my opinion the best solution is to root your device. I've tested many apps, but my best solution was to root and install XPosed Framework with GravityBox for Marshmallow
In Gravitybox you can disable hardware-/ and enable on-screen buttons.
Here are my working steps from the stock to the end:
=================================
Install Recovery (TWRP)
=================================
- Activate Developer Options
- OEM Unlock
- USB Debugging on
- Power Off your device
- Go into Download Mode
- Start Odin and install TWRP
- Restart or quit Download Mode: ''VOL DOWN'' + ''HOME'' + ''Power''
- Start Recovery: ''VOL UP'' + ''HOME'' + ''Power''
=================================
Install Custom Rom
=================================
- Start TWRP
- Format Data
- Install Ultra Lean Custom ROM
Then install in order:
- "Super SU"
- ''no-verity-no-encrypt_ashyx.zip'' (disables encryption)
- ''adoptable_storage_enabler_ashyx.zip'' (enables adoptable storage; if you need)
- ''xposed-v86.1-sdk23-arm-custom-build-by-wanam-20160904'' (XPosed Framework)
- Restart to system
=================================
In System
=================================
- Install "XposedInstaller_3.1.1.apk"
- Choose GravityBox (MM) to install
- Restart
- Activate the on-screen buttons
- Restart
- et voila

This is a fine answer for the question ! I really like detailed information, it make you avoid stupid questions.
Well I have a question for you if you don't mind, not about capacitive buttons because I am somewhat a fan of this samsung implementation, I would like to know more about adoptable storage like what is your configuration ,the type of SD card you're using and the issues you're having with adoptable storage, I wanted to instal it on my device but I hate buggy stuff, I heard that Link2SD app is somewhat safer and it works almost the same way, add to that it gives the ability to have two seperate partitions on the SD card so apps are installed on a partition and other media files can be stored on the other partition and are accessible from other devices . What do you think ?

Hi, thx for kudos
adoptable storage works very well. The only bad thing is, if you're using an alternate launcher (in my case Nova Launcher). After a reboot, the launcher starts a little bit faster than the SD card. This means, apps which are installed on sd-card, aren't accessible from your homescreen (you can see the icons, but they are grayed out), but works fine in app drawer.....(Last update of Nova Launcher has fixed that problem).
Also I've tested Link2SD too, works perfectly, but since then there is an official possibility in Android (Marschmallow) to expand the internal storage, so I want to use this function.
Another thing is, in android settings -> overview of storage, there isn't one drive rather two. 1x internal and 1x sd card.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If you install an app, there is no possibility to select the drive where to install. But most apps are developed to use the adoptable (especially games).
If an app installed to internal memory, then sometimes there is the possibility to move apps.
If you connect your tablet to pc, there is only one drive. But if you copy files, these will be stored on the sd card.
My SD Card: Samsung MicroSDXC 128GB EVO Plus UHS-I Class 10
With this configuration, I'm using my tablet since a few weeks and got no trouble until now
Last but not least: Sorry for my really bad english
Damn buddy that's a really good answer ! Looks like I may follow your guide too and I was going to purchase the same exact SD card you're using right now, the only bummer I had with this tablet is the limited storage but after this modification, I think it will be a complete package!
By the way you're English is perfectly understandable, none of us is a native speaker ?
Just one thing I wanted to know, my device isn't rooted yet, do I have to wipe or factory reset in order to get adoptable storage ? I'd like to keep my data as is so I am afraid that I'll have to reset my tab.
Thanks again for all the efforts ?
This worked perfectly. Thanks so much for the post.

3. Download ADB from the link above and extract the contents of the archive to C:\ADB (create a new folder);
4. Make sure USB Debugging AND OEM Unlock are ENABLED in Settings --> Developer Options on your phone. If you don't know how to activate Developer Options, check this out. After you've enabled these, connect your USB cable from your phone to your PC.
Note: If the phone tells you an access request is being received from your PC's fingerprint, accept it.
6. Open ADB on your computer by going to a Command Prompt, and typing cd C:\ADB;
7. Type adb devices to make sure your phone has been detected by ADB, like so:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
8. In the Command Prompt, type adb reboot recovery and press enter to reboot your phone into Recovery Mode;
9. Once your phone has booted into Recovery Mode, select the Wipe data/factory reset, and then select Yes when it asks for confirmation:
(Note: THIS STEP IS MANDATORY. If you don't wipe your data, the encryption on your phone will remain and you will be unable to root your phone.)
10. After you've wiped your data, BOOT DIRECTLY INTO DOWNLOAD MODE FROM RECOVERY MODE. You can do this by holding down Volume Down + Home Key + Power Button WHILE STILL IN THE RECOVERY MENU.
Important Note: Ideally, you should still be in the recovery menu after doing a factory reset. Then do the instructions above to enter Download Mode. If you reboot AND THEN go to Download Mode, this method won't work, because your encryption will be put in place again and your phone will become unrootable. Please do the above steps with caution.
11. Hold the buttons down. If you did everything correctly, you should see a screen like this pop up:
12. Press the Volume Up button to proceed to the flashing section. You should see this screen:
13. Now, make sure that the USB cable is still connected to your phone. Open ODIN on your PC, and click on the AP button, then select the SuperSU archive that you downloaded. Make sure that your phone is detected, Odin has to say "Added!!" in the log to the right. If it doesn't say that, re-connect your USB cable to your phone, or switch the USB port on your PC. Then press Start to begin flashing SuperSU and rooting your phone:
14. After Odin has finished flashing your phone, it should say PASS! at the top left of the window, under it's name. Your phone will reboot automatically.
15. Once your phone has rebooted, you should be greeted by the usual setup screen that happens when you factory reset your device. Set up the settings as normal, and install SuperSU from the Play Store HERE once the phone is set up. (This is VERY important.)
16. After you've installed SuperSU, download Titanium Backup from the Play Store, and uninstall the system app "Knox" and everything with "Knox" in their name, and also uninstall "Device Security". They could mess with your boot and spam you with "Unauthorized Action" notification. You don't need them anyway -- once you're rooted, those two don't work anymore.
And that's it!
Your phone should be rooted now! I recommend installing Root Checker to see if you have done everything correctly. It should return this result if so:
Thanks for reading my tutorial! I hope it has helped you root your phone. If you did everything correctly, you should be rooted now. If you have soft-bricked your device and your phone is stuck on the Samsung boot logo, please download the included backup firmware and re-flash your phone, and do not attempt to root your phone again.
Hit the "Thanks!" button if my guide helped you!
Please leave any problems you might have in the comments, and don't be immature. I will not help people with a bad attitude. As I said, if you **** up, it's your problem and I am not responsible. But I will still try to help.

Recommendations (Optional):
I recommend the following root-only apps to enhance your rooted experience.
1. Titanium Backup - Must-have app for rooted users. Useful in debloating your phone, freezing apps (hiding them from app drawer and disabling them - even system apps), backing up apps and more.
2. FlashFire - Useful for completely backing up your phone, flashing your phone with ZIPs, restoring backups and more.
3. Link2SD - Useful for moving apps to the SD card or to the Internal Storage, and more.
4. Greenify - Greenify working in root mode is the best battery saving app there is. It hibernates the apps that you don't use so that you can get the most out of your battery.
5. ES File Manager PRO - The perfect file manager. It lets you back up your apps, has a root explorer function, can let you see hidden files, lets you create shortcuts to any file on your home screen, and much more. There is a free version too, but I strongly recommend the PRO version.
Note: You guys can leave root-only apps in the replies as well, I didn't include a full list of them, obviously, so you guys can help people finding the apps they need to enhance their newly unlocked root experience.
If you want me to send you a list of safe to uninstall system apps, PM me.
Quick extra tip: To disable the ugly white frames for icons in the TouchWiz Home launcher, go to Settings -> Display -> Icon Frames and choose Icons Only.

Revisions:
- Added extra step about Knox resulting from the feedback of a user.
- Removed system app section. Seems to be giving people boot issues.

Root again and check every step carefully.
After you've checked everything was done properly, ONLY UNINSTALL KNOX AND DEVICE SECURITY. Don't attempt to uninstall other system applications other than the ones listed in the list.
That's why you're getting "Unauthorized Action" warning. Because Knox is still in effect, and it's detected that you're using a rooted phone. Therefore it warns you. So uninstall it completely, and everything else with "Knox" in its name.
I'm going to add this to the guide so that this doesn't happen again.
NOTE: Also don't worry, once you have completely re-flashed your phone with default stock firmware, it's not rooted anymore and rebooting is safe. Rebooting while rooted is also perfectly safe, if you can do tutorial steps correctly and don't skip over any steps.

Don't try to uninstall system apps. I will remove that whole section - seems to be giving people a lot of trouble.

Well, don't remove OneDrive then. I have no idea what's causing this issue. I uninstalled all those apps in the list on my phone and it works just fine?
this did not work for me. After rooting the device I am stuck with SAMSUNG boot logo. I think I have android 9 might be the issue.
