930A to 930U Failure - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Hello, I just bought a 930A after reading lots of threads that made it sound like I could update the firmware to 930U. I've now tried Odin 3.12.3, 3.12.4, and 3.12.7 and I always get one of two error messages:
Complete(Write) operation failed.
or
FAIL! Model dismatch fail
Some things to note:
Current version is G930AUCS4BQE1
USB Drivers Installed
USB debugging enabled
Used "Run as Administrator"
Tried both with and without "re-partition" checked
Tried with multiple cables
Tried getting the firmware from two sources - both failed
Successfully updated wife's 930P to 930U with Odin 3.12.4_4
I've searched all over and can't find an answer so any help is appreciated.

SOLVED
I did some more digging and found the Prince Comsy version of Odin and that did the trick. It's hard to locate but can be downloaded at droidviews . com in case anyone else needs it.

[Q] Bricked SM-G900W8 looking for partition file

Hello, I am relatively inexperienced when it comes to flashing and have managed to brick my s5(rogers(SM-G900W8)canadian). I have looked around and it seems as though in order to get my phone to work I need a pit file for my phone. Problem is, I can't find one. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. by the way I have rooted and enabled usb debugging prior to being bricked
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2800218&d=1402859206
so that should work?
Well that's the PIT file for your model phone, whether or not it unbricks it depends on what you did to brick it
I bricked it by attempting to flash philz touch recovery in odin 3.09 and it failed. Now I have the message:"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." on my phone, I tried doing exactly that but kies detects my phone but never finishes loading it up. So I tried flashing the stock firmware for my device model and got the same issue I did when attempting to flash the recovery. As far as i know I didn't do anything wrong as i was very careful to select the right files, etc. but clearly I did.
Well you've got nothing to lose by trying the PIT file
Not flashed PIT before so read up on exactly how to do it first, this is the thread I got the link for your phone from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2737448
Tried flashing the file and that failed as well... not looking too good.
I guess my phone's useless now.
Did you check the "Re-Partition" in ODIN?
Are you using the latest version of ODIN3 (3.10.6) ?
Try ODIN3 version 3.0.7 too
(Obviously) Got phone in download mode
Tried just flashing a stock ROM from sammobile
Tried flashing the stock ROM along with the PIT file & Stock ROM together?
tried it all, when trying to flash the pit file as well though it gives me "SECURE CHECK FAIL : PIT" on my phone. whenever I try to flash it it always fails at system.img.ext4 with Complete(Write) operation failed.
I think I know the issue now, I'm using VMware, which apparently doesn't work. Will try on a windows pc in a while. thanks
Ah right, yea always best from a native PC
Let us know if you get it working
It worked and then I installed the newest cyanogenmod.

Help with Rooting Galaxy S4

Hello, everyone. I'm new to this site, and have come here because I've gotten a bit desperate. I have been trying to root my AT&T Galaxy S4 (Model number: Samsung-SGH-I337, Android version 4.4.4) for a long time and have been unable to. I have tried multiple programs, such as Kingo Root, Root Genius, and towelroot. Nothing worked until someone I know told me to go to TomsGuide (a website; I tried to post the link, but was unable to) and follow the steps. It seemed to work at first, because I now have SuperSu and Superuser in my apps.
However, when I open the Superuser app, a message pops up: "The Superuser binary (su) must be updated. Please choose an installation method. Recovery mode installation is recommended for HTC devices." There are two options: Cancel and Recovery Install. Nothing happens when I click Cancel; when I click Recovery Install, I receive this message: "There was an error installing Superuser. Please send a log of the error to the developer."
I have also gone into My Files on my phone and found the apk files (there was one on my SD card and one in the phone's memory). I installed both, but when I opened it, I either received the same message as above or this one "There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem! If you just upgraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device."
I am not sure what to do now and have been unable to find the answer to this problem yet. Any help would be appreciated. I am also new to this kind of stuff, so detailed explanations would be nice. Thank you in advance.
Kingroot DESKTOP will root a S4. Look for my post on the subject.
Unfortunately I haven't figured out how to include links in my posts from Tapatalk. Maybe someday.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
This thread should help you out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...to-root-i337ucufnj4-4-4-4-11-13-2014-t2939553
Kingroot seems kind of shady; I don't want to use it. I'd prefer to fix the problem I'm having, not try another one-click solution that won't work.
I've also already tried towelroot. It didn't work. Thanks for trying to help, though.

Towelroot works only with the NC1 kernel. You must flash the nc1 kernel, root with towelroot, and flash back the kernel for your system, presumably NJ4 or NJ5. If you didn't do this, then of course towelroot will not work. And it probably depends on which version of towelroot you use as well. The link above provided by @merlise will give you the download link for the correct version of towelroot, and will work if you follow it.

You are correct; I believe I have the NJ5 kernel (found it under Baseband Version; is that right?). Can you walk me through how to flash the nc1 kernel? And then how to flash back the kernel for my system? I have no idea how to do that.

Baseband is the modem. Usually when stock firmware is installed, kernel, system and baseband will all be the same, although the modem can be installed individually, but you would probably know about it since you would have had to do it yourself. So let's assume that you are on NJ5 system. When you look in about device, "Build Number" should tell you which system and kernel is installed.
Here is the link for the walk-through you need. (It's the same thread that was linked above by @merlise.
Skip step 1, of course since you are already on NJ5. After that, follow the steps in order, 2 through 6. The download links for everything you need are in-line with the relevant steps.
If you've never flashed firmware using Odin, it's not difficult. I can post a tutorial for using Odin if you need it, or you can find similar on the forum.
Edit: Since you are on NJ5 and not NJ4, go here to download the NJ5 stock kernel.

Okay, so I just tried to follow the instructions from the link that merlise had posted. I skipped step 1, did step 2, and ran into trouble on step 3. Both the nc1 Kernel and Odin downloaded to my computer just fine, but flashing it to my phone failed. It said there was no pit partrition. So I Googled that, found the pit partition for my phone, and tried to flash that. This is what Odin said:

From what you say above, you tried to flash the pit file alone, without a firmware. From what I understand, it is usually flashed in conjunction with a full firmware. It may not work when flashed by itself.
I wish you had posted the results of your first attempt to flash the NC1 kernel. I would be very surprised if you actually have a problem with the partitioning of your memory. It is almost never required to flash a pit file. There is usually some other cause for issues.
When Odin flash fails, it is very often a problem with the connection between the computer and the phone, so it is always a good idea to make some changes and try flashing again. Use another cable, use another port on the computer, especially one that is connected directly to the motherboard on a desktop pc, or even use another computer. Also, you might try a different version of Odin. If you are using v3.09 or similar, you might try v1.85 which you can download from my Download Repository (see link in my signature.)
Try again to flash the NC1 kernel, as in step 3 of the guide.
How to use stand-alone Odin3 to flash firmware:
Follow and recheck each of the following steps. Do them in order listed, as some steps are dependent on previous steps. Instructions are for Odin3 v1.85. It should work with any version of Odin, but some details, like color of items, may be different. In Odin 3.09, the PDA slot is named AP.
1.) Open Odin on the Windows Desktop.
2.) Have the USB cable plugged into USB port on the computer and into the phone.
3.) Shut the phone off.
4.) Put the phone into download mode.
5.) In Odin, you should get the yellow box under where it says ID:COM with the text 0:[COMx], and in the Message area, <ID:0/00x> Added!! where x is some number, usually 1-8.
6.) In Odin, make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked and all other items are not checked.
7.) Click on the PDA button. Browse to the tar file you want to install and select it so its path appears in the text edit box next to the button.
8.) Make sure the check box next to the PDA button is checked.
9.) Click the Start button.
10.) You should see the green progress bar advancing.
11.) When complete, you will get a PASS (or FAIL if unsuccessful).
Let me know if it flashes successfully. Regardless if it works or not, before you close Odin, copy out the information in the Messages section and post it back here.

I was just about to attempt flashing again, but now my computer is not recognizing my phone at all: "The last USB device you connected malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it." I tried a few different cables and two different ports. I believe it's a driver error. Also, I noticed that I've lost the ability to connect to wifi.

If the problem is in the phone, then I don't know the remedy. If you can boot into recovery, you might try performing a wipe data/factory reset.
You might try uninstalling and reinstalling the USB driver. See this thread for download. Or you might try a different PC.

Hi. Sorry about the late response; I've put trying to root my phone on the back burner for now, since I am really busy at the moment and things aren't going to slow down for a while. I'm going to attempt to figure it once more around Christmas time, so you'll hear from me again around then! Also, I just wanted to thank you for your help thus far; I appreciate it!

Odin files for latest AT&T S7 Nougat update?

Does anyone have the files for the latest Nougat update released from AT&T on the Galaxy S7? I tried flashing a previous version in Odin from the BQA4 update and I think I bricked my device. I can get it into download mode but it won't flash anything in Odin. Also, if I try to power it up normally, it just flashes a blue recovery booting text in the upper left corner of the screen.
I'm using the latest Odin 3.12.3.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Ed
I have the SAME problem, AT&T is sending a new device (Refurbished) but I would rather fix my phone. Does anyone have a solution? I'm in the same boat as toast1850.
I only have these ones here based on Android 6:
AP: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7C7EaSz8kzrV3B1aHdGQ213UDg
BL: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7C7EaSz8kzrU1EwZGdQeDF6OHc

CSC: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7C7EaSz8kzrcXI5enBJZHI1cTg
Extract these files with winrar or 7zip
Please note this will wipe your device, make a backup if you can before flashing, Flash using this odin version by Princecomsy credit goes to him:

once you are on android 6, check for updates to download android 7.

Disregard my previous note. I didn't have the samsung USB drivers installed. After installing them and placing the files in the corresponding sections I had a working phone again! Thanks for all of your help micallan_17!
By the way, I couldn't get it to work with the Princecomsy odin so I used the regular Odin 3.12. It would hang on Setup Connection every time with Princecomsy. Just an FYI for anyone else out there with this same situation.
Just wanted to say thanks again! These files unbricked my phone, I'm now running official AT&T Android 7.0 - G930AUCU4BQA6

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the unfortunate individuals whom took the BQC2 via OTA would not be able to use the files micallan_17 provided. In my case, the daughter was not worried about rooting her device and therefore took the update to the latest... Wouldn't this make the downgrade while the bootloader is now BQC2 ill advised as it would potentially brick the phone.
I suspect the G930AUCS4BQC2_CL10280464_QB12904132_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.rar file muniz_ri uploaded and mentioned in his thread below might rectify that scenario.

Nand write fail - odin

Hi everyone,
I'm owner of a N9005 International on 5.0 with some problems of media processes. My Files doesn't open in your own app, only in File Explorer. Already Update and Hard Reset the same but problem remains.
I'll try to flash a custom ROM, but i found some problems to make root with CF Auto Root on my device. When i try do the root my odin (Versions 3.09 and 3.10) presents the message:
<ID:0/005> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/005> recovery.img
<ID:0/005> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/005> FAIL! (Auth)
I have all drivers with Kies and Smartswitch.
USB Debbuging is on and Download Mode is on the screen.
I already reboot my PC, changed the cable and USB ports
Recently i Wipe and restore my Note3.
Anyone got an idea?
There's another way to do root without Odin?
Thanks!
Sorry for my poor english :/
Use supersu zip to root .
Its found under SEARCH or GOOGLE .
Have you tried flashing a stock ROM from sammobile.com? If flashing a stock ROM with Odin fails, try different USB ports and USB cables.
Use differnet ROMs, such as firmwares from sammobile , this sometimes happens when you have hardware failure , i mean cable . Try using another USB Cable , I had the same problem but no more with my current cable

Tks Guys,
Already tryi this. With no sucess,
but, reading some topics here in xda, one comment called my atention. I disabled the Reativation Lock and works. I don't know if this really was the problem. But, it works. Tks a lot. :good:
I had a note 3 bricked by erasing NAND in Odin. eventually I lost access to my phone and I was not able to download the firmware by odin through single file method.
but I searched for tried for 12 hours and found note 3 stock roms here.
You can do that un-brick to stock rom back by finding individually all essential file [AP, CSC, BL, CP] and installing by the odin.
I am very new to android world so if it look dumb to you. ignore. Thumbs for hard work.

S8 SM-G950F Stock firmware help!

Hi,
I cant seem to find anything related directly to the S8 and not sure if all mobiles are the same..
I had Android 8 on my S8 and needed to downgrade to 7 to try something, I did that but after it completed I had a messy settings menu where parts were duplicated or showing the wrong sub-heading.
I've read on the forums about this and it says re-flash with CSC and AP to fix.
When I try to re-flash it gets stuck on "Set Partition" in Odin.
I read to fix this you need to enable the "re-partition" option in Odin, I have tried this and it still does not work.
I have also tried full flash or AP, CSC, BL and CP and it's still getting stuck.
Tried on two different PC's (just in case) - same result on both.
The phone still boots and works, but it feels like something is wrong.
Can someone advise on how to completely re-flash the phone? The videos I've watched so far don't seem to run into this issue.
Any help would be awesome
Update: Using odin 3.13 gives this error: <ID:0/005> Can't open the specified file. (Line: 1892)
I've tried it with SamFirm and Sammobile FW.
EDIT - Finally fixed it, flashed G950FXXU1AQDG to the handset, wiping and re-partitioning the phone, after setup an OTA update was pushed for 8.0.
In case anyone else has the same issue, I used Sammobile for the FW and Odin 3.12 to flash.
