My huawei mate 9 pro has an issue that had been ongoing the last few months.
If I put the phone is silent (mute) it will randomly and without me touching it or any activity like a sms or call or anything, put it self into volume at the ringer, and always the same minimum volume.
I can't for the life of me, figure out why it does that? When I am at work I need it on silent, but it changes back yo sound all the time.
Any thoughts?

Hope someone can help....
In Settings -> Sounds and Notifications, I have set the sound for Screen taps to loud and the volume of ringing tone is set to full and on....
After couple of hours, I lost any sound while tapping the screen and can't hear if some one rings me....
It happened yesterday, all worked when I rebooted the mobile.
Today it happened again, but when I rebooted the mobile, the sound came back and now after few hours it is same situation....
I even check the Setting -> Sounds and Notificatons -> Notifications -> Ring type -> Ring
Does anybody know why it is happening..
Ringer problem
I have the same problem too, when I set to ring and vibrate the ringer cuts off. I have now disabled the vibration function but the ringer volume still fluctuates between high and low, or even disappears completely. Any ideas? Apart from this (major) issue, I love the phone...
Just came abouit tis same issue. My ringer seems to fuctuate from low to high and high to low
I've had the complete loss of sound once, reboot helped.
i'm having the same issue!
after going in standby, the phone wakes up but does not ring or play sound anymore (even if you receive a call or a text message).
if you answer to a call, you cannot hear anything in the earpiece and also the microphone doesn't work.
if you soft or hard reset the device, it will work again at the beginning, but the issue will be back in a few minutes.
i verified that if you launch windows media player (or other app that plays audio) when the device has become "silent", will initially result in no sound, then - after few seconds - will make the phone restart (just the phone component, not the xperia) and the sound starts working again.
some times i got also a gwes error, which has made the xperia unresponsive to the touch screen.
btw, i'm very displeased since this device is brand new and was given me by the repair center to replace my xperia (I left it charging battery all night and on the morning was dead...)
I think I'll take it back to the repair center and ask for another replacement...
if you have ms voice command, that could be the cause of your ringer fluctuation.
I had these issues with cooked roms but not the official roms though. recommended using latest official roms with all junks removed.
This bug has been around since the TP. No idea why it has migrated operating systems..
Anyhow, try this. Set your notification volume to max. Wait a few seconds, and go into your notification tones and play one. Immediately after it has finished, play it again. Notice the first time it played, the volume was substantially quieter. The second time it played, it actually used max volume as per your setting.
This greatly effects notifications with just a few bytes of sound and not an ongoing ringtone. An ongoing ringtone will begin quieter than full, and then pick up to full volume or whatever you have in your settings but the first few sound bytes will always be quiet.
If you have notifications set for text or email, you will never hear your notifications at full volume unless it`s an ongoing ringtone (and who the hell wants that!).
I cant believe this hasn't been addressed yet. I have already tested this with three stock DHDs (but none with any custom roms.)
After my meeting with the regional HTC rep this week I will load a custom ROM onto my DHD and test further.
Feel free to post your findings! Would like to know if this issue is present in custom roms as well.
EDIT: Initial problem (/w TP2) discovered here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-touch-pro-2/80017-speaker-volume-quiet-then-loud.html
I have just tried what your talking about.
but it doesnt seem to happen on my phone..
My phone was set to silent, then uped it to max,
went to my sound settings - notifications, selected the one i usually use,
sounded normal..
tapped it 4 more times.. no difference.
I think I know what you mean, at the home screen if you use the volume rockers and kee increasing, I can hear the volume getting louder as I press even when the volume on screen bar is at max.
I found that even at max it was still too quiet. I got my tones into SoundForge and increased the volume by like 50% and its nice and loud now

That's definitely something to consider.. good idea, I need to try that!... We're you able to do this with notification tones or just ring tones?
Just to note if you keep pressing the notifications you won't hear a difference, its the very FIRST sound that comes from the speaker will be quiet after a short rest of a few seconds.
Turn off the screen as well.. wait a couple of seconds, turn it back on, play a sound and then play it again and you'll notice that the second time it plays is a lot more audible (playing at max volume).
I just increased the volume on a ringtone(mp3) I want and put it on the sd card, and selected it as my ringtone. I did the same with a tone I wanted as my sms, but saved it in the notifications folder. I've only done it with my ringer and sms tone so far. Temporary fix but if I'm trimming my tones on my pc I can increase the volume as well, hopefully I don't have to keep doing it for long. I haven't tried the roms with volume fixes yet.
Using Revolution 4.0 and seems to be working fine.
Just wanted to post back. After rooting and roming the issue definitely has not ceased. I've learned to cope and will eventually make some tones that have amped volumes with some PC apps.
Still annoying though.. tested on 9 DHDs so far. Not one didnt have the issue. Ugh.
I bought a p9 lite last week and found an issue with the ringing tone volume. I always receive calls in maximum ringing volume even its set for medium volume. I noticed that this issue only happence when it's in my pocket or in my locker. When it's on the table volume works as I set. But it really annoying when I receive calls in max sound when I am at work. Plz help me with this. Is it a bug? There's a pending update which I have not done yet. Will it fix this issue? (But patch details don't mention any fixes regard to this issue) plz help.
It's not a bug. Lowering the volume lowers the volume of notifications. Open up the volume dialogue and at the bottom is the slider for the calls. Cheers!
It's called Pocket mode. You can find in the Dialer/Settings/Pocket mode, it's not a bug .
Hi guys, so after 2 years of using iPhone I've decided to come back to Android. Bought myself lovely Mi 9T and I'm very happy with the purchase but I have a problem.
When I bought the phone, there was MIUI 10 installed in it, I was able to enable incoming call that called couple of times within 15 minutes to go thru do not disturb mode and ring the phone.
After updating it to MIUI 11, I cannot find that option anywhere.
Any idea where this feature is hidden? Or any idea how to make them go thru on do not disturb or even on silent mode? Sometimes they call me from work to come in early if I can, they do it couple of times within few minutes so it would be handy to allow it going thru so they can wake me up.
Does anyone knows how to turn off that pathetic beep sound on the haptics? I know many people find it annoying, especially at midnight when everything is silent. I don't wanna turn off the haptics cause it's really good on Nothing Phone. Other phone doesn't have this beep sound on their haptics. Atleast Nothing should give an option to mute it in settings.
it does just search in the settings "touch feedback" and u can turn it off
It disables haptic feedback.
Unfortunately, there is no possibility to turn off this annoying sound without turning off the haptic feedback. I have 3 devices now: Nothing Phone, Xiaomi 12T Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max and for me the most pleasant type of haptic feedback is taptic in iPhone. Both Nothing Phone and Xiaomi 12T Pro have almost the same pattern of haptic feedback, however, Xiaomi 12T Pro allows to reduce the intensity of vibration and after some manipulations I have set it to "1" instead of "10" so now it is more or less ok for me to type text using Google keyboard.
Maybe it's a hardware thing. But I also use the pixel 6a and there's no beep sound inspite of having better haptics.
