Is it possible to switch between H.264 and H.265 for videos recorded by the phone? If so, would I have to root or are there any options/apps allowing me to do so? I found none threads related to X Compact with this matter.
Many thanks in advance.

I've tried playing videos in mp4 and wmv format on my x1,but they don't play smoothl, they get stuck.
Can anyone tell me the actual specifications for videos i.e. format, bitrate, framerate etc., so that they can play flawlessly on my X1?
THANKS!!!!!!!!
I second that request. I have tried 15 different converters and a bunch of codecs and i never got good quality with smooth playback
Hello there, everyone.
I have been looking around for a new phone, reading and watching reviews, and the Legend its a definite possible winner. But I cannot find one basic thing I need: What video resolutions can play?
I know it plays MPEG4, H264, WMV (I guess WMV9) and 3gp. But regarding H264 and MPEG4, what resolutions and profiles can handle?
I need to know this, because I already have an extensive Bluray collection that I have converted to Apple's universal format (A handbrake profile that works on Ipod touch, among others), and they are all 720x400 (or 304), and some of them with dual audio.
If you need a sample to test, I can give you a link trough PM. (I cannot post it here yet)
I also have an Ipaq 214 with WM6.0, and coreplayer plays those movies just fine, with 100% zoom (=no scaling) and deblocking filter disabled. But Im a noob in Android and, for I have been gathering, there's no general specs on this.
Thank you all in advance.
i tried to play a bluray movei on the legend after using the same application ( handbrake ) i converted it to 640 * 320 and it was just amazing ... no lag at all .. i didn't try something elese still
anybody know the max. resloution the legend could handle ?
I'd like to convert a WMV 640x480 video to a format that can be played by the Tattoo.
I'm using Videolan VLC for the conversion, but I can't find a configuration producing a video that is accepted by the Tattoo.
Can someone help me please with some precise details about video/audio formats, bitrates, and pixel height/width?
I'm not looking for a best quality conversion, just something that works.
Thanks.

Create a Video With 240 x 320 Resolution and mp4/mp3 Video/Audio format.
Hello, before buying this device, I'm curious to know if someone can tell me if the film from my camera will run on this A7.
My camera is a Flip model:Ultra HD 720p with usb plug. This camera run with a program from a PC computer. Will this program run on A7?
Thank you! Daniel.
video capability
what format is the output file..... MP4, MKV, AVI, 3gp??
Most formats work on Android devices with the help of video player apps such as rockplayer, as the stock apps tend not to be the greatest.
Keep in mind if you are buying this tablet "NEW", you will likely need to use a custom firmware such as Dexter's Mod v1.42 (search the dev threads), this will give you google market access to get apps that will play the specific format you have.
Not all video player apps and "app markets" are created equal.
Also 1080 HD video tends not to play well on many android devices, but since you are shooting 720, that should not be an issue.
Thank you
The format is MP4...
MP4s
The A7 does natively support MP4's, but I'm not sure at what resolution.
I'm fairly certain that 720 is no problem but I think 1080 is a no go.
I will test my A7 tonight as I am doing some other work on it anyway.
Again, I highly recommend Rockplayer (lite) to handle this and other formats, and its FREE!
formats
I had no issues playing both 1080 and 720 mp4's on Dexter mod 1.42 with only the stock video player. Other formats such as mov's were not so friendly. But once I added rockplayer they were viewable. Keep in mind though high frame rates will still be an issue as I noted this with 120 & 240fps. For additional formats you may just need to find a compatable player to which there are hundreds in the market.
H.265 videos cannot be played on Moto E stock rom i.e both kitkat and lollipop roms.
Is there any way to play the H.265 videos in moto e? i'm using MXPlayer , Only the Video is playing nd the audio plays at certain intervals of time. There are many glitches in playback. Please someone help me with this issue.
Thanks in advance.

None of the available soc support h.265.
So it can only be played via s/w codecs. And s/w decoding for h.265 is not optimum. You will experience lags and out of sync audio.
So there is no way to play hevc efficiently on Android.

try cm 12 ,I tried it h265 are playing very smooth
Try BSPlayer. Its h/w decoder is more efficient than MXPlayer's.

By default H265 is disabled. BSPlayer -> Preferences -> Playback Preferences -> Codecs played in HW mode -> Check "HEVC/H265"
....and make sure you are using HW decoder (Decoding mode >> 3rd option)

this codec is for to support ac3 and dolby audio
H.265 is tricky because many video players which claim they support this video codec failed playing it as tll. My way to play H.265 video is to save it to more commonly H.264 MP4 with Pavtube, the playback with VLC or WMP is great.
Lemme clear this .. Actually in cm12 r is working properly which is bugfree but in cm12.1 nuplayer is faulty thats y it lags .. Wait for its fix and x265 will be played smoothly on cm12.1 too.. U can see it in developers ie use nu player instead of awesome player

Few media players online can afford H.265 directly. You'd better encode H.265 into H.264 mp4 first so that you can play the videos.
