[Discussion]H.265 video playback problem - Moto E General

H.265 videos cannot be played on Moto E stock rom i.e both kitkat and lollipop roms.
Is there any way to play the H.265 videos in moto e? i'm using MXPlayer , Only the Video is playing nd the audio plays at certain intervals of time. There are many glitches in playback. Please someone help me with this issue.
Thanks in advance.

None of the available soc support h.265.
So it can only be played via s/w codecs. And s/w decoding for h.265 is not optimum. You will experience lags and out of sync audio.
So there is no way to play hevc efficiently on Android.

try cm 12 ,I tried it h265 are playing very smooth

Try BSPlayer. Its h/w decoder is more efficient than MXPlayer's.

By default H265 is disabled. BSPlayer -> Preferences -> Playback Preferences -> Codecs played in HW mode -> Check "HEVC/H265"
....and make sure you are using HW decoder (Decoding mode >> 3rd option)

no its not working, may be it depends on kernel that makes a reason h265 playable on cm12

Try this codec and see if it works, http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-player/mx-player-custom-codec-dts-support-t2156254

this codec is for to support ac3 and dolby audio

H.265 is tricky because many video players which claim they support this video codec failed playing it as tll. My way to play H.265 video is to save it to more commonly H.264 MP4 with Pavtube, the playback with VLC or WMP is great.

Lemme clear this .. Actually in cm12 r is working properly which is bugfree but in cm12.1 nuplayer is faulty thats y it lags .. Wait for its fix and x265 will be played smoothly on cm12.1 too.. U can see it in developers ie use nu player instead of awesome player

Few media players online can afford H.265 directly. You'd better encode H.265 into H.264 mp4 first so that you can play the videos.

Can .mkv movies with DTS sound track be played on the Tab 7.7 ?

I have tried the default video player but it cannot play .mkv movies with DTS sound track.
I can see the video part of the movie but so sound can be heard.
Is there a solution to this or do I have to convert my .mkv movies?
Edit: Actually DicePlayer and MX Player can play .mkv movies with DTS sound track.

Shouldn't this be in the Q&A section?
use mx video player , it worked perfect when I played 1080p mkv /w dts video.
Dice Player does this too (and is a better player for the Tab 7.7 overall with better hardware decoding, not much in it though so pick whichever).

Just wondering what makes you think dice has better hardware decoding. I have not tried Dice yet but i have not run into a single problem with mx video player

On my Note and Galaxy Nexus some files don't play smoothly with mx player (they are very watchable, just not perfect like with Dice Player).
Glad to see you here NZ... Haven't try the video part thoroughly... Anyway, MX is still good for me as of now... Thanks for the input about Dice...
You can also try BSPlayer.
I found this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vDN-RilC1k
It can also play my AVCHD camera files. (.mts)
One BIG problem is that the player can't play from my ntfs formatted sdxc card.
(Dice+ Mx works)
I have all three installed, but I usually use Dice.
I am having mixed results on my 7.7 - vids with DTS stored on the SD card play nicely when using MX player when the audio stream is set to SW.
However, when the same videos are accessed over the network they are choppy if they play at all. Anyone else experiencing this? I've done some network analysis and the wifi isn't being maxed out or anything.
Maybe I'll start a new thread on this.

@sladey,
There is another thread "wifi connections" that documents some slow streaming prob.
I had to experiment with wifi-g to wifi-n (both 2.4 & 5.0 ghz) to get a steady stream.
No fixed answer at moment as all above settings still hv some intermittent stutter.
Try wifi-g and slowly move up speed.
Cheers

What version Exactly?
MX Video Player v1.6f. You'll have to google for the apk as it's an old version that supported DTS software decoding prior to it being pulled.
yeah I tried them and they aren't supported on jellybean so I got diceplayer and used the special codec file and I can playback my 15GB .mkv's with DTS with no problem even running the cpu at 300mhz on my note 2 it plays back flawlessly on my 64gb ntfs microsd card. So it's DicePlayer that does it for JellyBean.
I appreciate your help though.

mkv video playback no audio!!

I recently transferred some videos to my note 3. These videos come in different formats like avi, mp4, mkv.. I experience no audio when playing back mkv videos. A pop up window informs me that the audio codec is not supported. Is it just my phone or has any of you experienced it also? How can I solve my mkv audio problem? Thanks for your help.

My guess, without more information on your specific mkv file, is that the mkv file you are trying to play has a audio track with DTS,DTS-HD,DolbyTrueHD, or something along those lines which I'd assume the note is incapable of decoding. If your mkv had a stereo audio (mp3...ect) track my guess is you wouldn't have an issue.
Have you tried VLC or the other video players from the play store? A number of them come with their own codecs built-in. I have not come across an MKV file that I haven't Ben able to play.

I'm not sure about the DTS, DTS-HD, DolbyTrueHD audio thing. I'm just a plug and play person. Now that you've enlightened me with all these complicated audio jargons I will have to do some research on it so I can better understand the cause of my mkv audio problem. As much as possible, I would really love to use all the default apps on my note3. If it turns out that the problem lies within the default video player then I have to search for other media player to play my mkv videos. Thanks for your prompt reply, I really appreciate it.:good:
P.S. Would love to receive feedbacks from fellow Note 3 users if they experience the same problem as mine. Thanks!
Try Mx Player and software decoding in it.

if u have MXPlayer installed already, play the video, press menu button, Tools -> Properties, tick the more button, and scroll until the Stream where type is Audio, and see what type of codec it is. It's like many have said here, chances are, it's DTS, or something that Note 3 does not have any codec, and we cant help u unless you can confirm that
I think unlike some other video players, default video players have only as many codec as the OS natively support, so maybe just try opting 3rd party video players with software audio decode capability for higher compatibility. I think some one-time configuration should be worth the effort since you're a plug and play guy

Thanks BBXiong for your help. :good: As per your suggestion, I downloaded MX player. At first launch the mkv video still played without sound, what I did was to press the back button, go to settings -> decoder. I checked all the Hardware decoder box (there are 6 of them), also I checked all the Software decoder box (there are 3 of them). Then I go back to play the mkv video, this time the audio is working! I'm posting all the pertinent datas found in the Stream #2 which hopefully will help you figure out my problem:
Type : Audio
Codec: ATSC A/52A (AC-3)
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Channels: 5.1 Channel
Bit rate: 384.0 kbits/sec
Stock vidéo player used to décode AC-3 on galaxy note 1.
I do not know what they did for Gn3 but they need to change it!
Just like in PC.. VLC media player.. Plays everything straight away w/o patches or need for other codecs.. And it's free

Oh I quite agree, it is highly frustrating and completely pointless. But there's little to be done about it..
Try to install a video player app on your Galaxy Note 3. If it still didn't work, you can find a video converter program like Brorsoft's Video Converter to convert MKV to Galaxy Note 3 most compatible H.264 .mp4 video.

[Q] Problem with playing 4k videos

Hi,
I have a problem with playing 4k videos on my Galaxy S5, SM-G900F. Whenever I record something with 4k quality and play it, it's fine. But when I download a short 4k video and play it, it either stutters or plays it @ 1 FPS. That is, it shows a frame for a second and it disappears for a second and so on... Also it happens to have no sound at all.
What gives? Has anyone else had this problem too?
Thanks.

Just because it does not fully support all 4k video formats (codec).
Maybe the newer firmware will support more formats.

OK. Maybe I should try finding different codecs. I think players like BS Player and MX Player support custom codecs. If anyone knows of any good 4k codecs for Android I'd be grateful.

Supposedly it does support 4K playback at main profile.
Qualcomm's marketing does say yes.
I don't have any content so I'm not sure about codecs an players.
