Android Picture in Picture will not work on our N6p because the System UI Tuner has been removed by Google. BUT! you can get PIP to work with “Custom Navigation Bar” all you have to do is to add a custom button and Manual input Keycode #171 to the button.

I saw you enabled and disabled system tuner. I tried but it still doesn't work. Using custom navigation bar instead.

No. I know that's needed for pip to work.
I'm having the same issues. When watching YouTube in browser pip appears for a second before disappearing. On the YouTube app I don't even get that.

I'm not able to do picture in picture either. I did the custom navigation bar and I have the icon but it doesn't work with YouTube. Duo and maps works in PinP.

YouTube works perfect on Nexus 4 custom rom chroma. when i pause YouTube video for few seconds than the YouTube application stop working and hang on system. The only solution is to do reboot. I have latest version of Chroma and YouTube.
Any solution?
Sorry for bad English
Same happens on stock so its not a custom rom issue.

Try changing the chroma status bar and notification bar settings to the default ones and check again. Try to find the one setting that causes the issue and disable it.
For me, it was the 'double-tap status bar to put device to sleep' setting

In another thread, someone said that in order to solve this problem you have to go in developer options and check "disable HW overlays" (you have to do it every time you restart your phone).
I did it in my nexus 4 with Fake Nexus Rom and I have no more issues with videos at all.

I haven't been able to get Picture-in-Picture working since I've been on Android 8 - DP2 all the way through DP4. I've been hoping that when Android Oreo officially released that it'd fix the issue but I just upgraded and still can't get it to work. Has anyone else found a work around for this?

People on Reddit claims that it doesn't work on YouTube unless you have YouTube Red. That's a shame

Yes, and it's working for me
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they don't have a reliable / user friendly way to make ads work well while in YouTube PIP mode. Too bad, especially because 1) it's a #$%@ move. 2) YouTube Red is only available in select countries.
I am still getting the forced reboot when you have PIP for YouTube playing and then toggling the screen off and on. Anyone seeing this too?
Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
It works on Duo, so I would try that and if it works then you'll know it's a YouTube v YouTube Red thing. I have Red and it works fine so I can't test this for you.
I also have Youtube Red, but it forces reboot for me if my screen is turned back on after it had turned off or if I turn off the screen while Youtube is playing in PIP mode.

I can confirm this happens when I use PiP as well. Can't let the screen turn off....
Have submitted to Google.
I have it working fine on Youtube Red.
Everyone on this thread -- the PiP mode only works for certain apps that support it. Not all apps support it. Also, all the apps that do support it will request for your permission to use the mode.
If you go to Apps & notifications > Special app access, you will find a permission node for picture-in-picture.

Hello there people
I ve just up dated my 6p to Android Oreo
But the notification dots and the pic in pic mode are enabled they don't seem to work or may be i am not doing it right if somebody can help me. I ve checked the dots in each app but still no luck. Aside of this the software is working perfectly fine with alot of bugs gone and i even feel it smother
For picture in picture mode to work, you need to update the Youtube application, and I believe you have to be a Youtube Red/Google Play Music subscriber for it to work.

when subscribed in pic in pic it only worked there!
but not in any other App
The are few apps that implemented it yet, video calls on WhatsApp, YouTube only with red subscription, videos in chrome (not youtube) and VLC player I believe
Google Now Launcher doesn't support notification dots. Download the Pixel launcher or the Lawnchair launcher if you want them.

Yes, the same happened to me last night. I can see it in the settings/apps list. I'm guessing the camera app would need to be updated to get access to the AR Emoji feature as that is how it's accessed on the S9/+.
Same thing on my s8.

Hi all,
Does anyone know why it is that we can't make all apps go full screen? Too many just cut a black bar at the top where the camera is.
I've heard it's because of Android 10 and devs have to enable but I've used other Android 10 devices that allow you to force proper full screen on all apps. The inbuilt full screen apps setting only shows a couple of apps.
I'd also love to know if this is possible... It's driving me insane with the huge black bar cutoff.
Install the G- Visual magisk module
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/themes/root-oneplus-6-6t-notch-killer-t3945193
Just use Netflix and Amazon prime older apks for full-screen
I have older versions of these two which let u full screen (even the cutout area ) if u install this version u can then select full-screen mode for these apps which drove me crazy with the same problem on my 1+7. Hope it helps all OnePlus 8 n 8 pro users
Just google Netflix 6.13.0 apk and Amazon prime video 3-0-246-15341 apk at least untill OnePlus fixes this issue u can find some peace with ur new device. And yes welcome to OnePlus

Thanks for the hint - sounds very promising. I tried installing it, but no "Notchkiller" menu entry in developer settings. Do you have that working on an OP8P ?

It appears like this..
I use the "None display cutout" module in the Magisk download section. Works just like the notchkiller by enabling in developer settings.
But seriously. My S10+ was able to do that natively. What is Oneplus doing

I'm on the standard OP8 and that G-vision module works but it pushes the clock so far left most of it is blocked by the camera. Is that normal? Is there a fix for that too?
If that doesn't work then at least I was able to push the status bar icons further up making the spacing look more even. So there's that.
