[Q] Replace Stock Gallery App with Quickpic?

I really dislike the default Samsung gallery app and I'm wondering if there's a way to specifically make it so Quickpic can be accessed through the stock camera app by pressing the preview button in the top left corner. Freezing/disabling the Gallery app does NOT prompt you to select a default gallery app when pressing the preview button.
Instead, it prompts this message:
(Because I can't post links to external images, see the first attachment.)
I should probably add that there are no permissions for gallery to open as the default gallery, so that's not the issue. (Quickpic is set as the default).

Is there any possible way to get the stock camera app to use Quickpic as the default gallery? I'm rooted with no custom ROMs, just default TouchWiz.

I'm not posting this for the sake of OP, I'm posting it for anybody who asks the same question, gets directed to this topic by google, and gets disappointed by the NO answer - while in reality the answer is YES it's possible.
And by the way I've had the same question several years ago, when I had a Samsung Galaxy S, then again more than a year ago, when I got an S3. Didn't hear about Xposed then, so I just accepted "it's not possible" as an answer. So even a year later, the answer is still relevant and might be useful.

And how exactly to use it after installation? The module has no user interface. How get I get Quickpic into action?

Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work with my SGS3. From my understanding you should uninstall/freeze the default gallery app and next time you try to open the gallery from the Camera app, the phone should ask which app should be used to view the picture.

I tried freezing. It won"t work either. My problem is getting to albums from the Contacts app, when I need to add a picture to a contact. If I freeze the Gallery there will be no Image option in the Contact Photo window opened for selection of the photo source for a contact. It means I cannot get into my albums for photo selection. And since my contacts photo album is organized by name, I am having hard times when looking for a right photo for my contacts. QuickPic could solve this...
Don"t understand how this so basic and obvious feature is missing in such a complex and long time running on millions devices OS?

I feel your pain, I have similar idea. But maybe the blame is misdirected, the Contacts app comes from Samsung, doesn't it? They made some of their apps too tightly integrated with each other, not giving the user the flexibility to choose the gallery app. I'm planning to try another ROM (e.g. CyanogenMod) to get a look at the pure Android experience.

Google Camera

Anyone have a download link for that? I have reinstalled it on over dozen ROMs with titanium, but not an option here. I am assuming app.apk's can be installed here.
For some reason, Google doesn't make it available here on play store.

Thanks. The difficulty was finding a site that would not try to install a download app and also some very intrusive cookies (not unlike those that XDA tries every time I set them up on another computer).

I am sorry but new here. How this will help the S7 Edge Camera? Whats so good about Google Camera?

I still shows up for me in play store when I go to the list of apps I've installed

The photo sphere feature it not just a 360 panoramic photo. It includes the sky and ground too.

Surround Shot is not installed by default/ stock. You have to get it from the Samsung/galaxy store. I did not see it on my phone you are talking about this right ? https://fs02.androidpit.info/userfi...axy-S5-camera-download-surround-shot-w782.jpg
I just installed it as I was commenting on your post. It is only a 5 meg download and show up when you hit your settings button on the camera. This seems pretty cool, Thank you.

Camera UI is huge

I stupidly updated the stock camera app via apkmirror and it must've been for a different phone as my camera app now looks like in the screenshot below.
How do I fix this? How do I revert back to the official nougat camera app?

If the new camera updated the stock camera, go into your application manager (in the Settings), find the camera and disable it.
After a prompt, it should uninstall the updates and leave just the stock camera.
Reenable after its finished, and you should be good to go.

I tried that but the disable button is greyed out and I cannot click it.

It's just that it was huge compared to normal compare the screenshot below to the original one and you'll see. (View pictures fullscreen on your phone to see it clearly)

Gallery OR camera problem

Hi to all.
I have recently installed on my I9505 the Thor s7 style rom with patch v2 and
when i try to shoot a video on any resolution it work's BUT when i go to gallery
instad of video image it show's a grey icon with this ! sorry my english is not that good
and the video play's normaly it's just if you shoot many videos in one day you won't know wich video is what..
Please anyone know something about this?

i try to replace the gallery from another rom that it is exactly the same i set read write so i can do this but nothing
works see i like the MM gallery and i would like to keep it stock you know?

Your two options are: Get another gallery app, from the play store, or get another ROM.
Possibly another camera app, some come with their own galleries.

Force app to go full screen, including the camera cutout?

Hi all,
Does anyone know why it is that we can't make all apps go full screen? Too many just cut a black bar at the top where the camera is.
I've heard it's because of Android 10 and devs have to enable but I've used other Android 10 devices that allow you to force proper full screen on all apps. The inbuilt full screen apps setting only shows a couple of apps.

I'd also love to know if this is possible... It's driving me insane with the huge black bar cutoff.

I have older versions of these two which let u full screen (even the cutout area ) if u install this version u can then select full-screen mode for these apps which drove me crazy with the same problem on my 1+7. Hope it helps all OnePlus 8 n 8 pro users
Just google Netflix 6.13.0 apk and Amazon prime video 3-0-246-15341 apk at least untill OnePlus fixes this issue u can find some peace with ur new device. And yes welcome to OnePlus :laugh:

Thanks for the hint - sounds very promising. I tried installing it, but no "Notchkiller" menu entry in developer settings. Do you have that working on an OP8P ?

I use the "None display cutout" module in the Magisk download section. Works just like the notchkiller by enabling in developer settings.
But seriously. My S10+ was able to do that natively. What is Oneplus doing

I'm on the standard OP8 and that G-vision module works but it pushes the clock so far left most of it is blocked by the camera. Is that normal? Is there a fix for that too?
If that doesn't work then at least I was able to push the status bar icons further up making the spacing look more even. So there's that.

Guys just install Netflix 6.13 apk and den open Netflix and got app switcher and long click on the 3 dot menu of Netflix and select full-screen option and boom it will zoom in happily but it's older version. Also use prime video older app version 3-0-246-15341 apk and repeat the same full-screen toggle process like I said with netflix
