First this isn't spam at all... I came across this while looking for the Pulse Theme and thought that maybe those over at XDA would feel like its something worthy of supporting by donating to a great cause.
http://tinyurl.com/donate2breastcancer
If any one feels this is Spam or is in wrong taste next time you look at your mom imagine she has it and then tell me I'm wrong in trying to promote this as much as i can
Oh moderator, oh moderator, this is in the wrong section! Now I'm going to have to cry! Honestly, there is an off topic section here at XDA. I hope you recognize that.
Why link to another Android based site instead of directly to a charity? I'm afraid you might have some other agenda here.
I'm going to allow this as notifying about something on an android website, it's noble and it is about getting an android theme as well,

Thank you. I don't mean any disrespect to XDA in anyway by this =)
is a good cause to donate to.i lost someone to cancer.most dont care one way or another since theyve never lost anyone close to them and has seen the suffering it causes.donation has been made

this is a positive thing. how about editing your original post, to reflect -just- the cancer donation link ?
cross forum stuff is just nasty to try and search, not to mention hard to keep up with all the logins. hope you understand.

In case you haven't notice, the original poster cannot edit the original post because the poster has been BANNED. Most likely because whatever he was doing was shady.....this thread should die.

Hello Moderators,
People are posting their roms here which are not doing what they are supposed to do, but the page where one dodwnloads the roms remains the same without any update on what is working and what is not.Can anything be done about it?
lol maybe if they could tell what you were asking.
Edit: I get it.. Are you seriously *****ing bout devs who take there personal time to post ROMs but not always update their main page?
I think he is talking about the WIKI pages and if that is the case then to the OP you need to understand how this works
1. a dev posts a rom they cooked in a new thread
2. it is up to us as a community to update the WIKI not the moderators
if the rom is a popular one then it is going to stay at the top of the treads deal with it.
edit: nope you are right Tipharet I read it worng. rukshmani you need to deal with it and read the treads that these roms have before you flash them anyways becuase if you dont then you end up asking questions that have been asked 200 times before. please stop complaing about these great people taking time from their lives and families to make our experience better.
Well, just read through the posts and you will no what is working or not working. It really is as easy as that.
Updating the first post to a ROM release is the responsibility of the developer of that rom. Not the job of the moderators.
If you think a rom needs to have it's post updated, why don't you PM the developer yourself. If you were instead referring to the sticky-wiki for tracking roms, you aare as free to update/edit that as any one of us are.
Not, trying to sound rude, but it is difficult to understand what EXACTLY it is that you are asking for.

This is what this about. He downloaded DarchLegend and couldnt get his app2sd to work. And then started this thread. Although its clearly working for someone else.

seriously I try not to flame people but apps2sd is a perk on a rom not a requirement! stop trying to get a moderator involved because you dont want to do the work little bit of work that might need to be done to get something to work that YOU want.
if I didnt think it would get me susspended I would pull a page from gbhils book and post a rediculiously inapropriate image to get this thread closed down.
edit: not directed at you gomorrah I forgot that what you quoted doesnt show when I quote you.
Developers cannot sit at their computers 24/7 watching to make sure every developer updates his OP timely... u have to realize two things. One these guys developing roms 99% of them have real world jobs and families which take 99% of their time. Two, this would take time away from the mods real job which is to warn and ban offenders of the forum rules. This is not part of a mod's day to day task. Now if a developer is posting bs roms that r bricking everyones' phones that have downloaded them then yes at that point a mod would have to get involved but that has never happened to my knowledge on this site. Sorry dude but just b/c everyone else on this forum has the same phone as u doesn't mean that it will accept new rom flashes/modifications the same as someone elses. Any slight variance is settings from urs to the next guys could plunder a rom flash attempt. Do ur homework before messing with ur phone. Tons of others have had no problems so obviously they did something right. Most of all every developer always puts " Not responsible for what happens to ur phone by flashing this software" It's completely ur risk.
i see link is not being updated.. and other link is being updated.. two links active and same rom download pages.. Maybe, he clicked one of those that is not being updated and got confused.

Yep and now theres another guy that just posted on how to get free service. What is going on here?
My theory still holds I think. People are so desperately wanting 2.1 ( not even really knowing why) and it seems to be making ppl irrational to say the least...lol
Yeah and I was hoping the op wasnt actually *****ing bout what I translated. You would assume that most people know not all devices and software run the same on 100% of devices.

who knows... to a certain degree forums should be a priveledge not a right...
too bad we couldn't create a "pay for membership" forum where all the members control the other members, threads, guidelines, etc.
a self-moderating group of like minded people that understand the guidelines and follow them. if you could be banned with no refund, i'm sure people would be ready to follow rules, not give opinions where none were asked for or any of the other atrocities i've seen on this site since i joined just a few weeks ago.
i sometimes wonder why there aren't "etiquette moderators" that enforce common forum etiquette. i find that too often one wrong post can start 6 pages of useless banter eventually rendering the thread a personal vendetta against one person, vs the etiquette moderator simply dealing with the issue and not allowing good threads to go to thread hell.
i can dream right?
R
My opinion, Android is just so seemless and appealing to everyone, not just tweakers. So what we are seeing is more folks that havent been in forums like these and understand what is right and wrong. When little petey goes to the sprint store and sees the TP2 with winmo, plays with it and says "This is just to hard for me." he then picks up the Hero and says "Wow, this phone is more asthetically appealing and much easier to use.". Hence why we now have to deal with a much lower intellect of members because quite simply, Android is a great OS.
Oh my God, I can't even believe this thread exists. I'm moving to AndroidCentral.
Or dud!!!

What baffles me the most about your post is that the source on the Engadget article links back to a post on the very forum you are posting on. Why on earth did you feel it necessary to post another thread for an article based on a thread on these forums, in this section????
(They source this post in case you were wondering....)
I am amazed engadget sourced it! wow....
guess to get guys like u mad. hahaha

RUDE **** like this keep decent people away. The idea of a forum is people have to interact and contribute. If everytime someone posts something and some **** post his opinion on that post the website will eventually die....that pisses me off.... what a ****.
I think the issue here is that there is an already active thread about the Sprint 2.1 release date. The mods already combined threads together.
Apparently, the release date of the 2.1 image is causing some people to lose patience and tempers. Not trying to excuse it, just offering a possible explanation.
As a short timer on these forums I find it hard using the search to determine how many threads are out there already and if someone posted the information already. This is a very active forum and there are so many posts I am sure there is a lot of duplicate information. Being a moderator must be a full time job on active forums like these. To be safe I usually do not post anything new for fear of someone overreacting and sh*tting down my throat (and I assume that's for the best to prevent duplicate postings). I let the experts do all that, but it's too bad someone can't share information without someone acting like an ass.

Share all you want. Just make sure there's not 50 threads about it already. It's fairly easy to use search (even though you say you have a problem with it) for '2.1 release' or 'sprint 2.1' or something. It's all in your search terms. People don't tend to get pissed off unless there have already been a LOT of threads posted...and until recently the mods weren't doing a whole lot of moderating so we'd have 10-15 posts on Sprint 2.1 rumors...which is why each time someone opens a thread like that they get jumped on.

It doesn't help when people like you make an obvious troll post like the one I quoted. If you have a problem with someone, take it PM's, we don't want to read about it.

1. Read This.
Not only that but, unlike you, he didn't use inflammatory language or resort to name-calling. I fail to see how his post was rude.
2. The point is, he didn't even have to do a search, he just needed to pay attention. The article he linked, links right back here...to our very own forum.
This is a developer's forum folks. Even noobs are expected to be proficient in certain areas. Like searching. If you don't like the search feature provided by XDA, use Google and specify XDA as the search location. In most cases, if you didn't spend an hour searching, you didn't give due-diligence. Think that sounds like too much work? Hey, post away! But don't get upset when someone points out your negligence. I am not picking on you, op, and I certainly am not trying to be hostile towards you or anyone else. There have been a lot of posts lately attacking forum users who are simply trying to get others to follow forum rules. Remember, knowing how to click the search button and knowing how to properly search are 2 different things.

God I love having Mods pay attention to us now!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!
People learn by being taught in a proper manner. Excuse my offensive language but why do people need to be a smart butt to someone that doesn't know. I'm sure since one of the guys first post and interaction is met with rudeness. I guess there needs to be a huge disclaimer on top of this website that says noobs please take your business elsewhere. Remember everyone here is not perfect and everyone was once new to this website. I see this kind of stuff all the time.
One if the beauties of being human is that we have the ability to learn from the observation of others, not just direct, personal experience.

Sigh. Thank you. I was going to post about exactly this, but didn't really have the motivation. My post wasn't meant to be rude or flaming, but asking a direct question. I'm still incredibly new to these forums, but I lurked before I finally joined and knew what to expect. I search, and I've been successful in finding my answer all but once. And even when I did post my question, it just turns out I wasn't searching hard enough. The reason I bring all this up is that all the threads posting with the same information, especially when they have to do with 2.1 rumors (which bogs down a search for ANYTHING related to the 2.1 releases).
Point is, I wasn't intending to be rude, but was met with rudeness anyway. The people complaining are just as bad as the people they're complaining about.

The OP has 279 posts (as of this posting) and has been a member since February 2010. This is far from "one of his first posts." :/
Hey, I'm not happy the way I'm being treated, after I posted something that some people didn't like, but why do I have to be treated like that and insulted and what is worse, this smart guy asks me to leave the forum? What is this? I was only being curious, this was my post

I hope real xda admins can do something about this. I didn't mean to be stupid or anything and I don't think I should be banned!!!
The fact that you brought up ios in a x10 is gonna tick people off. You really shouldnt have expected any other reaction. Look, if you like the looks of ios...then go download trips miui rom. Its pretty close. Dont know if you already tried it or not...but its worth a shot. Even cobrato has a miui rom to try. But with all the gingerbread news flying around these forums today then something ios related pops up.....dont expect people to take that very nicely.
Sorry

you posted it in the wrong section of the forum and it does seem like a bit of a joke when we have been getting comments about 2.3.3
im sure the people in the thread who commented on it didnt mean what they said in a bad way, i posted a comment in a thread a couple of days ago and got slighty flamed for it, but hey you know what that is life and the internet.
just remember that you posted your thread in the wrong section, which is what peevs everyone this forum (even me).
I see where the op is coming from, The responses were a bit too harsh

First, you are not going to banned for the thread you posted. It's obvious that your question was offtopic and imposible I think, but I don't wan't to get into that.
Second, you don't post this publicly since it's better that you PM a moderator about this. These kind of threads clutter the forums. I already received your PM.
On that note, thread closed.
So here we go. I need to say goodbye for all of you, guys. The problem isn't my time problem, or device (got one, thanks for mohibb ), but something else. Unfortunely, some guys don't like me here (cheers colossus ) and I don't want to be someone like uninvited person. So I need to go out from here. BUT. If you guys want to now I don't stop my development, just disappear from XDA. Do you want to be with all my current things? Just search & find me on Google or whatever else (not spamming links, you see now, colossus?). Hope now you will be happy that I'm done here. Bye.
So because you have had a ban for repeated links to your warez on your forum and the abusive nessage you sent me then you think I do not like you, what gives you that idea, you have had more chances than any and you always tried bending the rules but always got caught.
If you are after sympathy buddy you have come to the wrong place, if you are leaving then leave but anymore links to your sites and you will be gone for good- your choice!!
