Hi people just thought i would see how you are getting on with Bixby voice.
I'm liking it so far but there are a few hick ups like when i say call mum it spells it as mom no matter how many times i try and say it so it can't find the contact.
It's terrible for me on my 8+ no mater what I do to try and get it to wake up using "Hi Bixby" it doesn't, it doesn't even hear me now when I try to rerecord my voice [emoji19] and I can't get it to wake up from locked using bixby without pressing the bixby button so at the moment for me it's useless [emoji19]

Bixby voice is the single most terrible voice control app I've ever had the misfortune to use. You would think it would equal google voice at least. But no, it's utter ****e.

So many people/blogs all keep saying its just a copy of Siri or that voice command is useless. But what's new is that this is active all the time. E.g. You can answer a call, snooze alarm etc with just voice and no need to start an app.
AFAIK this is a first. So many things can be done and it will only get better.
Is it really completely handsfree???
Thats what I also thought when samsung described the S-voice.
But then after watching all the videos, I reckon its not completely handsfree.
For example for the lock screen, you need to first press the power button or home button to get the screen on, and then say the command to unlock it.
Correct me if I am wrong.

i was wondering this and they made it sound like its completely hands free but that would be too good to be true probably unless it affects battery...

Not any longer...starting today, Vlingo servers are denying requests from the S-Voice app not installed on an SGS3. It was fun while it lasted... fortunaltely, flipboard isn't doing the same.

fair enough. but this is funny because reminds me a bit of apple - and how they said siri will only be on the 4S because the artificial intelligence algorithm requires at least a dual-core processor and what not. next thing you know it gets hacked and runs flawlessly on an iphone 2g
i would say, it's good, that the device has a lock-screen mode too, because when i have it in my pocket, i'm not interrested in starting programs or calls
but the S Voice will be for sure an awesome feature - i hope it will work for all languages fine
and about using it on different devices - i would imagine, that it could end in a developer <-> producer ping-pong same like siri?!

This would also explain why it Says something about network and not doing anything on the wifes Nexus, as I was sure it was working before
Has anyone tried to change their build prop to mirror GSIII ? and see if it works then, I would but the wife would have fit if I messed with her's
it is a shame it doesn't work anymore on my One X, but I don't blame Samsung for disabling it. I'm about to throw down $700 on this phone so I want it to keep its exclusives as much as possible haha.
Other than that, I would feel bad for all those people that worked together to integrated it only for it to get pirated.

Why, it is the same number of syllables? And Moto is somewhat an unusual word like Google.
This is actually a topic I was going to start on Reddit a few days ago. How "Ok Moto" is so much easier to say, and just makes more sense than the ridiculous phrase they came up with. It's also adding to their brand recognition every time someone sees/hears you use it.
I recall reading here that when someone looked into the code that handles decoding the phrase the original may have been "hello moto". The "OK google now" was clearly a google influence. I have tried various other word combos but none work as well as "ok google now", the code is clearly optimized for it.

ITA and it works better for me. Late at night when I am tired or if I have been drinking, I can't even pronounce Google properly, lol! Moto is so much easier to say and not as stupid sounding.
Been trying this with no success - it's as if it realizes I'm saying something other than "Ok Google Now", says "Sorry didn't catch that". Do I need to clear data?

I dropped the "Now" entirely and so far it seems to work just fine with "OK Moto!". Will run with it until I notice any problems. It complained a bit on the 3rd training attempt, but I finally got it to accept the new phrase.

I did that, too and it is working fine for me. Much easier to say OK Moto. And no big deal to retrain if it gives me false positives.
I found just OK moto was activating it when just saying OK. By changing it to ok moto now it works just like saying OK Google now.

That works, too; it is just that it responds before I even get to say "X". So it is really responding to "OK Moto".

It should say/show that your phrase is incorrect. Given enough times it will set it to whatever you say. Mine would respond to "Ok Moo Cow" but the ambient noise issues and accidental dials when I was doing nothing made me change back.
I've had numerous false activations while driving, and once while it was in my pocket. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Hey guys, as you might know, the "OK Google" hotword detection is not able to be used when the screen is off. I thought this was odd given the sheer amount of sensors packed in the Mate 9, so I wanted to see if I could find a workaround. And find a workaround I did! Best of all, it does not require root and does not drain any extra battery as it takes advantage of one of Huawei's native EMUI features
I'll post a tutorial on the XDA Portal so keep a look out for it!
edit: tutorial is live! https://www.xda-developers.com/enab...ord-detection-on-huawei-honor-phones-no-root/

Go to Galaxy Apps, search for Bixby Home and look at the Most Recent reviews. For the most part they're terrible. I'd recommend Google Assistant. I've been using it for a while since getting a smart speaker that also uses it. Does everything (?) Bixby is supposed to do and it's terrific. My married daughter (yeah I'm not young) also uses it. She said: "Hey Google add coffee to my shopping list." It did. She didn't even have a shopping list. It created one, and put coffee on it.

This is what Samsung say:
* Currently available with Galaxy Note9/S9/S9+/Note8/S8/S8+.https://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/apps/bixby/
So the answer is: No. It doesn't work on the A5.
There is a terrific ROM for the A5 2017 developed by Corsicanu which incorporates many features of the S8. This is what he says re Bixby Voice on A5 2017:
About bixby voice, samsung changed some things in Oreo, probably to be sure we can't use it anymore on non bixby devices, so it will never work properly for 2 reasons:
- this rom keeps the device props of A8, A8 doesn't have bixby voice so bixby voice doesn't show up at all;https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...srom-stock-t3779567/post77449715#post77449715

On the other hand you can simply install Google Assistant:

Hey Google: Where did I park my car?
