[GUIDE] Viper4Arise for the S8/S8+ after the new base - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey everyone, i've been browsing the forum since i installed Renovated ICE rom, i wanted to install Viper, but failed, and had issues with it(Mostly no sound for media, or no sound at all)
After searching for hours in several topics i found a way to actually get it to work, this is how i did it (On H3 firmware)
All you need to do, is to download this file:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767141554
Flash it, it will open Aroma installer, and at the first option when it asks for Viper, select the first option (2.5.0.5 i guess)
For all the other modules say skip (Or install other ones if you want to, just make sure it doesn't conflict)
And for deep_buffer modification say no.
After this, Viper should work well, (But it doesn't work in Samsung Music / Spotify)
Hope i could help!

I had no issues installing Viper4Arise or no audio issues using the original installer on the latest base, including the Renovate ice ROM.

me too, never had problems with the ARISE stuff. But why are u recommending that old version of ARISE? the new ones are far better, u only have to configure the *.prop file once, and you can flash it everytime

Spotify works flawlessly for me using this viper/arise setup.

I didn't know, can you tell me more about this or link a thread that explains it? I'd appreciate it

Worked on all older firmwares, but not AQGL of the snapdragon S8+, it just soft bricks the phone.

Do yourself a solid and check his post history. You'll then have an answer to your own question.

installed it (s8 exynos on renovate ice) - no sound at all (spotify, youtube,...) , at least from phone speakers, I havent tested headphones or bluetooth. uninstalled drivers within viper app and rebooted but still no sound. how to go back to normal?
edit: ok, dirty flashed my rom and was back to normal....

V4A Not Processing

So Viper doesn't seem to be working for me. I've installed the Super high Quality driver, but it does not seem to be affecting the sound at all. I've followed the instructions posted by @Beefheart in the How to Root thread, including disabling Adapt Sound, but I still can't seem to get it to work.
I thought it might have something to do with the "Sound Quality and Effects" settings I had set previously, but I can't get back into that setting anymore. I re-enabled Adapt Sound, but every time I go to that section of the settings, Viper launches instead. Anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.

Using flashfire, flash this file ( you will have to find it which shouldn't be to hard )
DivineBeatsDolbyAtmos_V6.0_HermesEdition.zip.
Works perfectly on the s7. I'm on version 1.0 of tekhd and have had zero problems. Or try here and flash one of these straight from the source

Resurrection Remix Official Support

I have been searching for updates on resurrection remix and found in the locked thread that the axon 7 has official support. Which can be found at the link below:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/resurrectionremix/files/axon7/
Can we have a thread back that follows this topic, making it easier for us to discuss everything in one place and follow along?
Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk
I agree. It was premature for them to track down the mods and request the thread closed if they weren't ready to post the new thread.
Beyond that the 4.16 build seems to be working pretty good for me.

Hola
Yes, the 05-16-2017 build is also working well for me. Unfortunately for me though I had to learn the hard way that a dirty flash wasn't going to work. Anyway, after factory resetting phone from TWRP v3.1, installing ROM, and then the latest GApps package, the phone works extremely well with all the bells and whistles that RR provides.
I didn't apply the LOS sound patch v4.1 as yet as I don't seem to have any major issues with sound. What about you folks?
It's still april on this side of the pond...
Able to turn off individual sim cards yet?
Please open thread for RR 5.8.3. so we can talk about it...
You can go to g+ or you can wait for the maintainer to start an official thread when his real life allows.
Also there is nothing wrong with stating an unofficial discussion thread like this one.

Yep, I found RR 5.8.3 a couple days ago and flashed it (only 3 days after making the switch to LOs). Was my go-to ROM on my Nexus 6P.
The newest RR seems to already have the sound patch, and is 100% Substratum compatible. Completely win-win for me! Very stable, too soon to determine battery life.
I flashed a version of Dolby, found in this thread: HERE - I didn't flash V4a this time around...The sound is REALLY good with the version of Dolby I flashed.
I'm so glad I found the new official RROS because it's such a good rom. I tried nuclear and no offense but RROS offers so much more while being just as stable with great battery life. On nuclear I could disable my secondary sim but it didn't have the ability to hide the non active network from the status bar. I also changed dpi but the font for network speed indicator stayed the same size and was cut off because of it.
RROS is the best rom I've used on the axon 7. Hope we get back a thread soon so newcomers can find links easily and so we won't have to discuss it here in the thread.

I'm on RR april 10/11 (one of the 2), but can't seem to get aptx to work. I flashed the zips from https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/themes/mod-aptx-codec-t3521228?nocache=1
but logcat doesn't show up anything for "aptx" or "apt-x" after connecting to my earphones. I'm testing with QCY Y11s from Amazon.
Can someone confirm aptx works fine for them on RR? Thx

Swift Black. It costs like a dollar or something like that.
In the process of installing now. For some reason it found the stock format on the microsd 'corrupted' and wouldn't read unless I did a format (was formatted exfat, now fat32). Not a big deal. Backed up contents before switching. No exfat support?
Is there a way to disable the vibration when using the finger print reader?
Aside from that, it picked up both sim cards (freedompop lte) right away, even configured the apn's correctly.
Does it support wifi calling?

Pure Android for ZE520KL or ZE552KL?

So...
I've been using this Zenfone 3 (ZE520KL), but actually I'd want to buy Nexus 5x or 6p (Google Pixel is too expensive so I don't wanna buy it).
Seems boring with the ZenUI because it has a lot of bloatware. I found on Google: how to make AOSP, but I'm still newbie, so I cannot make my own ROM.
If someone could build an AOSP, I will very excited. Thanks for the advance
Sorry for my bad English. :*
You can install lineage or resurrection rom with stock gapps package. Closest you can get to pure aosp and better IMO.
Speaker Problems
Hello Guys,
I'm new here, I don't know too much about programming. I have already used CM/Lineage in some devices and always loved it. I have one 552KL and I installed the LineagoOS today. Unfortunately I have a problem: My speaker does not work properly. Some applications has sound and some do not. EX: WhatsApp, calls and notificatins works, games not, youtube not, music not.... What could I do? Thank all of you for this ROM and for sure I will make donations for this project!!

I feel so bad about you to mate, I'm so terrified when I was #$%@ed up with the same issue and most of the developers or users has little understanding about every device, and we tend to do with our own knowledge but 90% we fail and there is none to help.
In my case, I found a guy who can do it for me, it's very expensive to return back to normal and I did, since then I don't do this experimental **** anymore, I better advice same to you.
In my very personal experience, I did not enjoy the Rooting power of wisdom than running into lots of problems. So I quit and bought One Plus 6 and will never root again.
I have reached my limits. So I hope you will find a good solution outside the XDA and stop the madness of root and use a good VPN like TOR and move on.
Good luck and I'm very sorry that I, not able to help you out.

Maybe you just went faster than what you could comprehend, didn't research enough, hyper excited to try new things etc..
Yes, it's okay that you were frustrated and you won't do this again.
But, it's clearly stated that what we do here has it's ups and downs!
You just failed to understand the cost to benefit ratio for you.
Also what was prognosis for your problem that was so costly?!
Probably you should have used an older device to get your hands dirty and learn & tinker a bit!
Nothing can be done here for a hardware issue.
Though there are extremely talented and brilliant developers and some users too who gladly help and guide here.
Though in all fairness it's your opinion after going through bad experiences so I feel for you mate & on the flipside I do respect it.
Peace.

I Know the solution
1)flash fastboot stock 247 rom
2)flash twrp 3.2.2
3)install any of your favourite oreo rom
4)see mic will work now
5)reboot to recovery and select backup
Backup all the partitions
6) reboot to system and save both twrp 3.2.3 and twrp 3.2.2
.
7)If u want to use pie roms first install twrp3. 2.3. img and then flash your rom (mic works)
8)If u again want to come back to oreo roms just flash that twrp 3.2.2 reboot to recovery again
and restore that whole backup we created in step 5
9)Now Mic will work even after downgrade g from 9.0 to 8.1
Press thanks if it saved your Device and your time. ?????????????

Thanks my friend, this fix worked on my Max Pro M1 (4GB version) running LineageOS 15.1.
My calls stopped working pretty much overnight, I'm still not sure what caused it. I couldn't hear the caller and they couldn't hear me. I wonder how exactly this fix works?
Edit: I just realized that Dolby Plus also disables SElinux. Is there no way around it?

Thanks a lot my friend,u save my day

I have come to the conclusion on which custom Rom is best for the Note 4

Since buying this Sprint Note 4 I have tried 4 different custom ROM. 1 touch-wiz, and 3 AOSP. My opinion Detux Corp Rom v9.0-Zelfania'sLove is the absolute best in terms of looks, stability, customizing and response. This along with BeastMode-r61-UN7 kernel makes it a perfect combination for a phone that is now 6 yrs old.. . I did have a few issue, during the first few installs, as I have not dealt with a Touch-whiz ROM in a few yrs. Every thing about this Rom is superb. With plenty of customizing, and tweaking, you really do not need to add anything else to make this Rom stand out over the others.. One issue I did have was with viper4Android. With the option to install in Aroma, after installing it would not work like it was suppose to. It would never process or change any aspect of audio that I choose.. Once I Re did the Rom again, after trying a few AOSP, I downloaded the Viper4Android APK separate, along with the preinstalled busybox, it works flawless. Also it was very lagging, and would often be impossible to get it to to anything until it finally settled, but was worth the wait.. Right now nothing of note, is wrong not even Bluetooth, which seems to be a big issue on AOSP ROMS. Even with help on how to correct Bluetooth issue, it would still persist and never work correctly..
Just purchased two ZeroLemon batteries for my Note 4. The original works just fine, but wanted to have extra, for when this thing actually dies.. Of course I will swap out batteries at least once a month, and always have one fully charged and ready to replace, when I'm either at work or out and about.. I did purchase a new original Samsung battery, that was still in it's original box off of Ebay. But when it came, and I charged it and installed it in the phone. The phone would immediately shut off or just reboot.. Battery Man date was Mid 2017, but is defective. So went looking at alternatives, and settled on ZeroLemon as they have a good reputation.. Plus both with free shipping was $30 from their site.. Most aftermarket batteries, you can seem to only buy via Amazon or Ebay.. This is the route I did not want to go, so I'm glade I went to ZeroLemon..

Cons= camera is blurted but I'll see if I can port or modify the files. Perhaps flash the modified r61/r56 Marshmallow kernel. Experimentation and observation.

I kept having issues with BusyBox. I finally found where it was pre-installed but it took me a while, I will admit. The Busybox by Steritson or what ever, was showing it was installed to the /sbin/. However, I discovered it was in device/ data/local/ and there it was Busybox. The screen shot is from after I manually deleted it with my root file manager . Yea, I took a bit of a risk but it did fit well with me. It just didn't look right.
Next, I unistalled previous bbox applets from within the app. I rebooted and ran the app to see if all was bbox was removed. a. Tgen I denied it root , forced stoped cleared cache, data and unistalled. nd indeed. I now use l Busybox app to Jrummy. Looks good so far but will see. Anyway, system/xbin for syatem root and syatem/sbin or system/bin for syatemless root.

Which kernel did you use? How is your battery life? I never did like battery life with the marshmallows ROMs
I gave it a shot, but wifi doesn't work... So back to UN7
Yea, I never almost never use Wifi but I couldn't get my hot spot to work. Blurred camera, no Wifi and no hot spot. My Bluetooth works. I have an old back from my previous Note 4, I was wondering if I should flash the modem partitions . Freaking fused 5, binary 4 bit the bog one. Dam!!
Im using the besst mode 2.2 ZL by @freeza. I think I try porting the r56 boot.img to the .zip of the R 2.2 ZL kernel zip. I appreciate any input or suggestions @doubledragon5

I can care less about hotspot. But if we can get Wi-Fi to work that would be fantastic
