Please I really need some help! I think I've totally killed my nexus 10
I can get to fast boot but cannot flash anything. As soon as I try and say flash TWRP I get "FASTBOOT STATUS - DATA005fe000".
I've tried using the stock firmware and using flash-all.bat but get the same issue. The erase commands work, but then command to flash the boot loader gets the same issue.
I'm hoping I'm going to get flamed for not searching, 'cause that means I've missed something, but I've tried to search to no avail.
PLEASE HELP!!!!

How did you got to that "state"? You should try using WugFresh toolkit.

That's how I got into this mess! I tried to unlock and then root my tablet.
It rebooted and wouldn't pass the nexus X logo.
Now I can't flash anything.
In the Nexus Root Toolkit it says that if all goes wrong try Odin.
I've downloaded a version (I'm familiar with it from my Galaxy S), and got the drivers working... does anyone know where I can download the tar files?

Did you get a chance to do the first twrp factory data reset? If not you may be able to boot into recovery mode and try a manual factory reset..
If your tablet is on, power it off.
Press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power until the device powers on. You should see an image of an Android lying on its back.
Press Volume Down twice, until the screen says "Recovery mode."
Press Power to restart into "Recovery mode." You should see an image of an Android with a Red triangle after a few minutes.
While holding down Power, tap Volume Up
Use the volume keys to scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" and press Power to select it
Scroll down to "Yes - erase all user data" and press Power to select it
for some reason with wugfresh the first twrp factory reset failed on 2 out of 3 tests. I had do just do the manual factory reset above and all was well. Good luck! :good:

By using 4.2.0 (rather than 4.2.2) and trying the flash stock and unroot option I can now install CWM or TWRP as a boot loader.
I installed CWM and did a factory reset, then retried the above. This got the data error when installing system and then when finished got a file veririfcation error in the fastboot status. When I reboot I just get the Google logo and the unlock at the bottom.

Re: [Q] Bricked my nexus 10!
Not to be rude or anything but toolkits are the devil when it comes to Nexus devices. They are so easy to root and ROM that anyone can do it. Toolkits encourage ignorance to what and how things are getting done.
For starters go Google the fastboot files for the Nexus 10. Google Fastboot.exe and add it to your system folder on windows if you are using such.
Extract the downloaded "manta....." File and then extract the zip file contained.
From here make sure you are in your boot loader and type "fastboot devices" ensure your serial shows.
Then one by one go into the extracted folder and erase then flash each partition EXCEPT the bootloader. Don't mess with that at this point. After flashing the recovery, system, boot and data files reboot into the recovery and perform a factory reset. It should boot from this point.
On Manta, you MUST do a factory reset after flashing the data partition or unlocking the device. For some reason it fails to boot without performing that step.

Yeah after my experience with toolkits I have leaned that the google sdk fastboot is the best method and you also learn the fastboot/adb commands and what's actually happening step by step.

Ok, given all the feedback, especially with regards to corrupt items, I dug out an old laptop and was still getting the same problems, re-downloaded the 4.2.2 image and tried again.... and was more patient this time, and voila! back up and running!
Thanks to everyone who replied, I would not have persevered without your comments.
Lessons learned:
1) On Manta, you MUST do a factory reset after flashing the data partition or unlocking the device. For some reason it fails to boot without performing that step.
2) For me the downloads seem to have been unreliable, try, re-try, cry, weep, try again, punch the desk until your knuckles bleed, try some more and eventually you'll get there!
3) Be VERY patient. I was less patient than my normal impatient self when I saw how super lightning fast the N10 is.
Thanks again to everyone.

I dont know what happened but I rebooted my phone today and it booted into fastboot.. I cannot in any way get it to boot normally. The buttons are not being held down and I have tried to pull the battery.. I dont get it, anyone else have this issue and fixed it have an idea??
Was it stock (including recovery) or modified?
I would try to fastboot the TWRP over and then boot into that (Power & Vol+). But then... I seldom run stock.

No, it wasn't stock and I dont know what happened.. I was running the latest CM13 and rebooted this morning and it freezes up with the ASUS logo and saying "Fastboot Mode!!!" at the top... I've tried flashing twrp via fastboot but not getting anything.. I need a copy of the stock firmware with the boot system and recovery image in it but I'm having a hard time finding it.

I too had this issue. Tried lot of key combinations. Didn't work. My solution was to connect to PC and run
fastboot continue
Then it booted normally. Everything stock.
Hope this helps.

Phones boots into fastboot mode in two situations
1. Pressing vol up and power button simultaneously for rebooting
2. Your phone doesn't have recovery AND any OS installed
I guess your vol up button is constantly in pressed state.
Second situation cannot occur unless you wipe your system and recovery manually. So you are in the first situation
Your phone's vol up button is constantly in pressed state or electrically shorted may be due to water entering the case
Solution: You will have to open your phone's case and clean the area near the volume button. I guess you had opened the case/body and didn't fit it properly.

I tried to connect and format the computer, but I do not install all the drivers and files, but computers do not see my phone. Can you find me a solution?

Reinstall twrp from fastboot & install rom
Please help, I went to update my magisk to 11.6 as it said, everything else is fine. It's rooted has NATFs ROM on it, 3.2 and everything else was otherwise fine. Then, it rebooted to install the Magisk update and here I am stuck with a phone that won't boot past the LG Life's Good screen. The screen dims slightly after the LG logo is displayed and then nothing. Absolutely nothing at all. I can't boot into recovery or bootloader, and the device isn't recognized even though my computer makes a noise as though it's connected when I plug it in to the computer's USB port.
Please help, I'm really stuck here.

Then unbrick the phone by going fastboot mode
Type "fastboot oem lock (or locker)"
*Then shut off the phone.
*Then do a factory reset by the same combination you do when going to recovery.
*after that try going fastboot again and unlock the oem
*with "fastboot oem unlock(or "unlocker" don't remember
Then you should be able to go to recovery.
BE AWARE : your phone my be wiped so make sure you backup.
Just wanted to say I'm on the same rom and did the update too, but I didn't have any issues thankfully.

I'm a moron. Can I ask for really stupid steps here because I'm kind of nervous about making this worse.
1. I was able to oem lock and unlock, however I still can't get past the LG screen. I can get to fastboot, nothing more
2. I'm sure everything is wiped, I'll worry about later, I just want to be able to get to recovery and nothing is registering at all
3. ADB reboot recovery isn't working at all I get error: device '(null)' not found
Currently, I'm sitting with the device plugged into my computer on fastboot mode displayed on the screen with the command "use fastboot reboot" if the fastboot is available.
fastboot devices shows the following:
LGH918ad448f8 fastboot
Is there a way to get to recovery from fastboot?
ugh, this is so frustrating. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

After you locked the oem. Did you turn off the phone and then factory reset (by pressing volume down and power, after you see lg you then release only power button for a second and press it again)?
Make sure to do this after locking oem and before unlocking oem.

Alright you can theoretically flash the recovery twrp.img through fast boot, after you reflash the recovery you can go recovery from there.
I think typing fastboot reboot recovery

After you do that button combinations it's going to ask you if you want to wipe or factory reset etc, you choose YES twice!. If you flashed recovery before then it'll take you over there after the choosing yes (it's not really gonna do anything just suppose to take you to recovery)
Edit: Okay let me be clear. When you lock the oem you should do the buttons combination. If you do them successfully then it should take you to a white screen. Asking you about confirmation twice. Then it will wipe and factory reset.
Now when you already have oem unlocked, you do the same procedure and which will take you to white screen then you choose YES twice then it'll take you to recovery (if you have successfully flashed it before)

So don't even lock the oem, try doing the combination properly now
Edit: so if it still doesn't work then try flashing twrp.img through fastboot there is a command I just don't remember. Make sure you have the .img twrp file locally so you can flash it.

i did choose yes twice, but when exactly did I flash recovery at this point? You write "IF you flashed recovery" I had recovery on here already but can't get to it
at this point, all I can do is see fastboot if I plug the phone into a cable, put the battery in and hold the volume down button down otherwise, I can't get to anything else but fastboot.
I'm at the fastboot mode
I downloaded the latest recovery twrp-3.0.2-1-h918.img (renamed to image.img), I'm trying the following command to push and flash recovery through bootloader but I get the following error

The proper command is;
Fasboot flash recovery image.img
And make sure the twrp file is stored locally from where you started the command prompt.
If it worked and flashed then try: Fasboot reboot recovery
To go to recovery.
I was able to run the following command from fastboot (looked it up):
fastboot flash recovery image.img
I see the following error message:

I do a daily backup at about 3am to my SD card. Thought about restoring from it, but then realized this is an opportunity to start all over which is something I was leery to do because I didn't want to set the phone up again. Yet, I'm doing it now to see what was causing the awful battery drain.
I was fiddling with my device (not rooted) and I gave the wrong command in fastboot:
Code:
fastboot erase cache
.
I then gave
Code:
fastboot continue
This was surely a **** up but I don't understand why erasing the cache partition seems to have broken the recovery/fastboot mechanism (I understand why it probably broke android though).
My device is now stuck, whenever I turn it on it goes directly in the recovery 'splash screen' showing 'no command'.
My understanding is that from the recovery 'splash screen' I'm supposed to press some keys combination to get to the recovery menu, but none seem to work.
Pressing both volume up and down for like 10 second reboots the device, so I assume it's not an hardware button problem.
Pressing power + volume up with the device powered off does not go to fastboot (but I'm quite sure it did before).
Neither adb devices or fastboot devices detect the device when connect to my linux pc by usb.
Any suggestion?
Any solution?
I have done exactly the same as you, and am now stuck on the 'no command' screen with the dead android icon flashing every 5 or so seconds. Did you manage to find anyway out of this. I have tried numerous button combinations and I cannot get to either fastboot or recovery, so my tablet is basically bricked. Any help would be immensely welcome.

Sadly, no
I never managed to solve this. I tried everything without luck. I even contacted Asus, and they confirmed me that the right button combination for this device is the following: press and keep pressing the power button with volume up for 3 seconds, then let the volume button go and keep pressing the power one. A recovery menu should appear at that point, but never did for me.
I still don't understand how deleting that partition could break the recovery mechanism, but this seems to be the case.
If you (or anyone else for that matter) ever manage to solve this, I would appreciate if you could write about it here: my device is currently gathering dust in its box
Thanks
Thanks for that. I'll let you know, if I have any luck.
Did you try using the SP Flash tool at all? I have tried this, but it claims the scatter file is invalid and I can't find a way around that.

I will have to look into it, since I'm not familiar with this tool. Where did you get the scatter file?
Sadly right now I don't have the tablet with me, and I won't for several days. When I will, I'll give this a try and report back.

You can get this tool here https://spflashtool.com/
As I understand, the scatter file is in the zip of a ton. So, I downloaded this: ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 (Z500M) FOTA WW_V14.0210.1806.33, unzipped it and used the scatter file from that, but it comes up as invalid. This may be because this isn't the right sort of Ron file, I'm not sure. So, at the moment, I'm stuck.
Still trying
I've used information from the following sites, but have still not solved. Let me know if you have any luck.

Any suggestion?

thx have anice day
Have searched the forum but came up empty.
Hoping someone can help.
Purchased the phone used back in December and have been using it as-is. Two OTA updates came through fine. The latest OTA update has it stuck in a boot loop.
- I can get to fastboot with power and volume down buttons but all of the options either turn it off or stick it back in the loop again (Essential logo with powered by Android, NO dot animation)
- Can't see it via "adb devices" since developer mode was likely not enabled
- "fastboot devices" can see the phone but can't change slots or do anything else
I saw two other people who've posted something similar but no solution. Is my phone garbage?
Any help is appreciated.

Damn, that's a bit unlucky, this March update said it would make recovery from a loop after OTA update easier to recover from, which might just have helped you. Sorry not sure how to help fix at present.
you can try flashing one of these https://forum.xda-developers.com/essential-phone/development/stock-7-1-1-nmj20d-t3701681
be sure to pick one with the fastboot images

A couple of questions:
- Is your BL unlocked (or is OEM Unlocking enabled)?
What happens if you try executing "fastboot flashing unlock"? NOTE: this would WIPE your data if successful.
- Can you get to the Recovery mode? It's when you pick "Recovery" option from fastboot mode, see the lying android with an exclamation sign, then hold Power and press VolumeUp to get to the Recovery menu.

Thanks for your response.
- I dont belive OEM unlocking is enabled.
- I can get to the fastboot menu, but the recovery mode option just takes me back to the 'powered by android' logo, not the green dead robot.
- When I try fastboot flashing unlock, I get the below error:
=============
FAILED (remote: Flashing Unlock is not allowed
)
finished. total time: 0.013s
=============

Will this work even though I cannot see the device via adb? AND the device state is "locked".

Dang... :\ Yeah, the last error means you don't have OEM unlock enabled. So, you can't flash the bts image via fastboot. One last thing I could think of is trying to get to recovery by the button combo. Although, if you are correct in saying you don't have USB debug enabled, it won't do much good, i.e. you won't be able to flash an OTA... :\
While device is OFF, press and hold Volume-Up button while pushing Power button to boot.
Your device will now be in Recovery mode. An Android logo with red exclamation mark should appear on screen. Hold the Power button, then press the Volume-Up button one time to see the recovery menu.
can you try this command on bootloader:
fastboot OEM unlock
