Sony has added the Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs to its Open Device project, allowing you to build and flash your own versions of Android™ N onto those devices. You can find all the resources you need on Developer World
https://developer.sonymobile.com/20...emium-now-part-of-sonys-open-devices-program/
some users unlocked XZP using xz from https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
soon XZP will be in the menu... will that affect drm fix ?
I am wandering now can we solve DRM issue?

Isn't this old news?
They've said before the XZ Premium would be on the list soon™
I can't see how it would make any difference just because you're able to select XZ Premium. You still unlock the bootloader the same way.
No, that makes no difference. Sony bullsh**s us by "opening the XZP to the bla bla bla world bla bla bla" while forcing the restriction of losing DRM on the customers. It's like saying "Your Porsche can now be modified any way you want to - but we'll replace the engine with one we pulled from an old E-bike".

Couldn't agree more!
I will probably choose the next XZ1 Compact (if rumors have become true) and ofc, I will not unlock it until a drm backup/restore/fix/cve-temp-root solution is working.
I really don't mind not having recovery/root bla bla bla at day 1. I can live without my own mods too

I am thinking to change my mobile, and seriously considering XZ , it came out on 6.x and has xploit! and whatever reviews i have read, its still good phone for 2017 and beyond, already running on 7.1.1 and will goto 8 ...
now the question that worries me alot!
will XZ be my last phone with sony?
if there is no DRMFIX Out there! i won't buy XZ successors at all because i cannot live with non rooted droids! they are just too frustrating! all the bloatware even after disabling most of them, they are still sitting in your partition! occupying gbs of your limited storage!
also mods like editing xml files for sound output, processor clocking can only be done when you have rooted phone!
nope! rooted phone is MUST for me!
- if i ever switch to any other droid! SONY is to blame

Succesfull repair SE ARC (LT15i) by Alejandrissimo
Yesterday I wrote a message Aleyandrissimo and already today he contacted me in GTalk.
After discussing some issues and solutions, we got down to business.
What was there before:
My ARC was totally bricked, no fastboot no flash mode, even no leds, has 0% battery issue at all. Trim Area was completely damaged by myself in Omnius.
What happened after:
Now it's fully working. Phone turns on, working fastboot, working flash mode...
The problem with battery solved by kernel patched boot (Bazoocaze & DoomLord).
It all happened quite quickly and I'm glad.
All that I needed was done and for that I thank you Alejandrissimo!
Good luck in all your business!! And thank you for everything!
My Xperia Play was totally bricked but Alejandrissimo brought it back to life. An error proof method of saving your phone.
As advertised...
Easy process... once you get past the "paper clip" part (big fingers, small paper clip!)
Regardless, I am now using my AT&T Xperia Play on Virgin Canada!
Repaired a semi-bricked Experia Arc-S LT181
Today Alejandrissimo repaired my phone:
The problem was a modified HW-config (phps made by Octopus Software) that resultet in a semi-bricked phone after doing further modifications thru setools.
Alejandrissimo found a solution to rebuild the HW-config and did a complete reinstall of the device. (i had to pay some extra bucks for rewriting the HW-config)
Now my device is fully unlocked and working like a charm!
BIG BIG THANKS to Alejandrissimo for helping me out, he did not give up and really wanted to help and not earn fast money.

Hi,
I read that sony ericsson is going to update their 2011 Xperia products so the GPS can additionaly receive GLONASS signals.
as far as I read about GLONASS the signals are quite similar to GPS, so there wouldn't be much to modify.
As I'm quite a noob on the G3's GPS I wanted to ask if anyone knows if it would be possible to add this feature to G3's GPS system too.
1st of all , wrong section to ask.
2ndly , that is hardware modification!
May be possible (hillbest may do it adding new chips or something , he is great hardware dev) , but no one would try that!

He says in the top post that Sony Ericsson are going to UPDATE their Xperia range which means that they are going to give a firmware/software update so i don't think it's a hardware modification unless Sony Ericsson are willing to take back the millions of mobiles they sold, take them apart, add the new modifications and post them back to the owner of the mobile.

As far as i am aware, Sony Ericsson stated that their Xperia line up was already ready with the required hardware to support Glonass, and now only the subsequent software/firmware modifications were needed. I do not think we have the required hardware/chip needed to perform such a function.
Well I would like to correct you guys that first of all it's SONY no more ericsson and second they are going to use that glonass thing in the upcoming xperia lined up.
So no use of this thread I think.!

In fact, it appears that some of the 2011 Xperia range (Xperia arc, Xperia arc S, Xperia ray, Xperia neo, Xperia pro, Xperia PLAY, Xperia active and Live with Walkman) also have GLONASS support with the latest software update.

it's a software update, not hardware. I just wanted to know if one of the devs who already worked with the GPS knows if this can be done on G3 too
anyway as far as I know the signals from the GLONASS satelite is quite similar to the ones given by the GPS satellites. so it might be possible to receive them even with old GPS hardware
GLONASS can be enabled in every phone with Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset...

that petition has nothing to do with that

Are you really that naive? Support for the device ended after ICS 4.0.4 and you really expect them to add support to Camera2 API (which by the way is an Lollipop feature)?
@RollingRoman uhh noobs again , this forum is for all sony devices and you can see it in any sony device forum , but for sure we only mean devices that are still in support

Man..please, forgot about ended support 4.0.4, it's xperia 2011 series..... For that, hope that CM12 would release lollipop update with Camera2 API..
Now we're talking about the Z series (maybe T2 Ultra and C3 too) which got official lollipop update and yes, Camera2 API is a part of lollipop feature. We're hoping sony to release an update featured with Camera2 API and this is cross-sony device section.. So it means all "SONY" related thing is here.. sorry, no hard feeling no harshing.. PEACE NO WAR brother..

Signed. I hope we succeed.I also wrote to Sony. Here is their answer:
Dear Mr. Tochev,
Thank you for contacting Sony Xperia Support.
With regards to your inquiry, we would like to inform you that Android™ 5.0 supports the new camera features via android.hardware.camera2, and Google™ defines three modes for the new camera features:
1.Legacy mode (no support RAW capture)
2.Limited mode (optional capability for RAW capture)
3.Full mode (optional capability for RAW capture)
Currently, Xperia™ supports Legacy mode in our Lollipop update which incorporate features and functionality in addition to our already renowned camera experience.
As always, we monitoring our customer expectations and regarding supporting taking pictures in RAW format, we will consider this for the future if there is a popular demand.
They write the exxact same thing everytime. We have to push them harder to succeed.
@BlAckXpeRia
Let's show them the demand
Actually i think its nothing more than scripted customer care reply...It will take a lot of work for them to incorporate camera 2 api in our devices and i don't think they will bother..maybe incorporate it in future devices or something.

''We did it'' one may say only when Sony pushes this API on all LP devices. Untill then, and i think they will keep it that way because they need to seel the new phone somehow, we should keep raising our voice, as it is not fair to have a damn good hardware that is ''ruined'' by lousy software. They need to enhance it ASAP in my opinion, or else Sony is risking a bad reputation going even worse...

I think it will come atleast for Z2 and Z3. They are really similar. But no matter what Sony does, I am stuck with them. I just can't get away from that beautiful design and software. All other manufactures have things I hate(LG-plastic, Samsung-software, nexus line and motorola- awful camera). My only problem with Sony is the new API. And they don't forget their devices-even the 2012 xperia z has lollipop and may get M.
Its not guaranteed to come to z3 or even z2, z1 and grampa z we can now easily forget since z has an expired 18 months period and z1 is close to expiration... Further on, LG G$ as it stands has way more superior camera then z3, Samsung is also investing hugely in marketing, and only thing Sony needs to do basically to survive is to a) improve software department, not so much the overall UI but software in camera for instance, it lags behind Samsung, Apple and LG as things stand, but they mosty use Sony's hardware, more limited one, so there is no objection for not handling software part more effectivley. and B) to improve customer relations, as we all know Sony is always lagging with announcments for new software features, heck they event dont know if the M2 or T3 are in plans for LP upgrade (which is lousy)!!!!
Onwards, remember the explanation provided for question wheter Sony will publish and software update for camera2 API or not, Sony gave as a bunch of c**p and basically told us ''oh, go f**k yourself with that'' masked in ''if there will be public demand we will then see...''
Of corse there is public demand, why wouldn't there be on since people always appreciate good featured updates. Look at Samsung, they are doing everything they can to fix camera things, publishing updates more oftenlly then Sony Social networks CM published something on either Social network used by Sony.
The Sony Xperia Z2 and Z3 devices are both amongs one of Sony's best smartphones ever that they has released. By signing this petition, we will all let Sony take action and update our precious Z2 and even Z3 devices to Android Nougat!
But what about Vulkan API support???
Anything is possible, and we will prove to Google and Sony that having the minimum requirements for software to work correctly, is plain garbage, and that Vulkan API can be left out for them, because it's not like the Vulkan API is a necessity for Nougat in order to run correctly.
ANYMORE QUESTIONS WILL BE BROUGHT UP FROM THE COMMENTS ONTO THE OP AND ANSWERED HERE.
SIGN THIS PETITION NOW!: http://bit.ly/2eEwqN5
Thanks!
I Just Want A Stable 7.0 Build For Z2
Man i think this is impossible. Qualcomm completely left the development of the SD800/801 and if Sony update our devices without permission of Google, they will be in a big trouble. To me, this is impossible.
You are totally right Little Snevil. I also think that official update it's impossible because Qualcomm processor.
Enviado do meu D6503 através de Tapatalk
Well, MAYBE it is possibile to get android 7.0 on snap 801. Just look http://www.techtimes.com/articles/1...coming-soon-geekbench-benchmark-hints-yes.htm
This is sad, but change.org never has been listed by Google or Sony, like happen with z1 and marshmallow, Xperia L and kit kat, Xperia sp and kit kat. The true is Google and Sony never listen to users, only look the sales, and for those is better for him sale the new and forget the old
what i can say in that?
@Brandon Nel
Having a petition is a good idea, and I am not against it.
But there are two questions I would like to raise before proceeding to sign the petition:
1. Our Z3 and Z2 has been released for 24 and 30 months already, this already exceed the normal aftermarket support for Android devices (usually it goes among 18 to 24 months). Although you might say there has been rule breakers recently (for instance the Xperia Z that has almost 36 months of follow up upgrade), but however there are also some far below standard devices (eg Xperia C, which has no android upgrade since release). After all, Qualcomm, Sony and any other companies still have to make money for R&D and make a living, right? So I am thinking that shouldnt we live with what we are having now (AOSP 7.0)?
2. Shouldnt Qualcomm the company you should challenge against? Vulkan and OpenGS are featured in the chipset which is manufactured by QC, not Sony!
We should petition Qualcomm & Google instead of Sony.. Sony tried their best to bring Nougat through their Beta program for Z3.
But due to the lack of chipset updates from Qualcomm and the Vulkan API requirement set by Google, so many devices have been abandoned from the update even though they are fully capable to run N. This includes Z2 & Z3.
So in this case, either Qualcomm has to release update to our chipset or we have to force Google to remove mandatory Vulkan API requirement.

//This is purely an opinion, might be treated as sarcasm, but it is an opinion
1. Nougat is bad for me, it is uglier and security is even worse because of getting more strict.
2. It is nearly impossible to push this through, because now you need to actually HAVE that VulkanAPI support in order to get a cert from google to use gapps(Noone will use Vulkan straight away, because of fragmentation, but well, three billion devices run java, now three billion devices will have to run Vulkan as well and if not, they'll die)
Any effort is worthwhile haha. This should be shared in the Z3 forums!
Well, Sony published AOSP for Xperias. This might mean something, maybe they will be able to somehow get that cert.

Not because of Qualcomm, but because of Google. They made Vulkan obligatory for getting certs. No one is going to use it from day one of Nougat anyway, because fragmentation, they want to push APIs, but Nougat isn't like 99% of Android right now. Although it might be handy when it reaches higher shares due to Vulkan's performance.
How hard/easy is it to unlock the bootloader on Xperia devices?
Is there a developer community with custom ROMs such as ResurrectionRemix that might develop for this phone?
It takes a few mins. You go to this site, select phone in the list and then enter IMEI, Email in which you get an email with the unlock code and then you simply enter that code into ADB and done.
Can't answer your second question as that depends on whether or not any devs will get this phone so time will tell I guess.

That's s great site, very well presented.
Let's hope the XZ2P shows up on that unlockable list...
No we xz2 users wait also, like also on the drm fix, 1 week that sony release the source.
@temporarium
1- The unlock procedure is easy and free via official website however the consequences are pretty bad. Unlocking the boot-loader will permanently remove the TA partition on the phone which contains the drm keys files and mess up the camera and many other functions will stop working ,these issues can be temporary patched/fixed by using a custom kernel with drm fix support, if you have no idea about DRM keys, read this quote ..
If you unlocked the bootloader on a Sony Xperia device, you probably know that the potential loss of warranty is not the only disadvantage you have to accept. Another fairly hidden issue is related to various proprietary features such as the X-Reality color management, BIONZ image processor and the active noise cancelling techniques. Once you decide to unlock your bootloader, the process also removes a piece of data referred to as the DRM keys. These are tied to various services (such as streaming video and the like) offered by Sony but are also required for the features mentioned above to work properly. Put simply, once the keys are gone, you’ll face issues such as decreased low light camera image quality and the lack of the X-Reality mode.

Note that on older devices shipped with MM or older Android versions like Xperia XZ there's a hack/exploit that was used to backup that TA partition before unlocking the bootlodaer to restore it later whener there's need to but unfortunately this is not possible since XZ Premium (shipped with Android Nougat)
2- For the developer community for Xperia Phones it really depends on the device popularity for example Z1, Z3, Z5 and XZ premium were quite popular in the last few years and were lucky to have a decent dev community, unlike for example the forgotten XZs, in my personal opinion I see that the devcommunity for Sony devices is way worse compared to other oems for example (samsung, oneplus, htc ...)
