Has Le Eco abandoned their USA OTA update servers? - LeEco Le Pro3 Questions & Answers

I recently brought 2 Le Pro 3's off Amazon. One was 5 days ago and another was 1 months ago. I did not do a system update on them and they are both still 18s. This week, I've been trying to do a system update through the setting, and they both say that my system is up to date at 18s. I've tried several times for the past 5 days and maybe even earlier with no luck. Has Le Eco shut down their operations to the point that we will no longer get OTA updates?

In my case I have been trying for the past three days and it says I'm up to date when that is not true, so I can confirm that the US OTA is dead for now.
If I do factory reset and follow the setup screens, after logging in my Google account, it prompts you to link your G-account with LeEco, but if you click that option it says server error or something like that.
So LeEco account login server is also down (assuming it is 2 different servers), not looking very good right.

Is there any way to root the phone without doing the updates? I tried to manually update with a 21s OTA file, but that failed. I read that they are incremental, but I'm not certain. I can't find a 19s OTA file anywhere to try to manually update. There are some 20s OTA files out there, but 19s is the missing link. There was a rootkit for 18s, but it seems to depend on a server from the creator, and he has taken that down.

Do I have to upgrade to 5.8.019s, unlock bootloader, install twrp and then install lineage? Or is there a better way?

I did this (3rd post down). I did not do a system update before doing this. I ran this ROM initially but now on nougat AICP."
Someone posted that they did not do any system updates on stock 18s, and the 19s bootloader unlock worked. I'll have to give it a try. Hoping it doesn't brick it.

You should have no problem unlocking the bootloader. Don't worry.

Abandonment Issues
I thought I'd chime in for good measure. I think LeEco is in some sort of tail spin with servers being abandoned and such. I managed to snag the 19S update from mega share. This thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/how-to/5-8-019s-update-t3497745, with this link https://mega.nz/#!AV9hzBQT.
You need a decryption key:
!PphAg9_Swd_-oqkZ553s3RnusQaNiNVKXy48801UCPA
Another user posted their Google Drive link https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B5EW4DgAMR8IMTJLdnNnZUNDUjg&export=download. Slower but just in case.
I dare say that coolmaster121 may have saved me. Maybe some of us too. I'm installing this update as I write, and it at the point of "Optimizing apps", so looks good. Hope this helps some people, hoping to get LineageOS up and running too.
I've also got 20S and 21S from other sources. I'm uploading them all to mega again just for redundancy. I'll update with links.

Update
So, it looks like the only way to get things to work is to have 19S and follow this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/development/x727-model-persistent-bootloader-unlock-t3500388. It might not work off the back so go through the posts. Users bulls4ever and Gytole seem to have the most useful replies. I went as far as getting into TWRP without bricking anything despite willy nilly commands out of desperation.
Here's a second copy of the update 19S:
https://mega.nz/#!dDQG1Rpb!Es9vUXdpzJnZVTIFq0UY4_FEfl6DiOdEAoEVcyXeCuA
For those people who just want eUI updated, here are 20S and 21S. I know that I bricked an LG Optimus 2X back in the day cause they [LG] wouldn't update from 2.3.4:

https://mega.nz/#!9aZmnAqD!75W7jruxQtQZHi0DSXQC1PRjKUbMXmHGJfRCped8Bww
Last but not least, I wanted to mention that I got LineageOS running, all in all took about 2.5 hours from frustration to satisfaction.

Have to flash the "aboot" first before unlocking.

Can anyone confirm the status of the US OTA servers? I think they have been down for at least 2 weeks.
It is extremely unfair for new customers, I agree that the phone is heavily discounted, but it is advertised as having US warranty, you can call me out for being negative but you have to admit, the OTA servers being done are not a good indicator.

I think they are done.
They may still be able to provide warranty service if they can keep on paying the claims processing company but it's not looking good.

What kind of risk am I actually assuming by using my unrooted Pro3 being the last security patch is Jan 2017?

No
The links are working. The website can be slow at times though and produce that error intermittently. I am able to login to my Leeco account just fine and view the website.

Strange, because it still works here. There has to be either a local or cloud based issue involved among other things. I can still access the link just fine, and login to my account. I can't navigate to any other forum link without error, but other links seem to be ok.

DO NOT UPDATE FROM APGC TO API4... (If you want root...)

Tested right before replacing my N7 (v1)...
After upgrading to latest API4 "Green Battery" Update...
Confirmed:
- Unable to Odin Sprint "Root" Firmware...
- Unable to downgrade to APGC...
Result...
No root & stuck with API4... (Not bricked)
so... in other words... IF you want root... stay with APGC and simply wait for an API4 ROM... (with APGC bootloader)

The API4 update is available to V1 phones. I took it, knowing I'd be getting a new phone in a couple of days.
As I understand it, they'll make you take it one way or the other.
i can confirm do not update your v2 note 7 to the new firmware. you cannot downgrade and they have blocked the sprint userdebug firmware from even flashing.
if you want to keep root. don't do it.
wht are the chances that the update comes straight from the box..
It does bro....i got mines today and it automatically started down loading...i just asked this question to @jovy23 in another thread
Yep, mine installed right out of the box. what a bunch of a-holes. wifes did the same thing, no root now welp, perhaps its time to return it and buy a different phone. this is retarded.

Saw someone mention it, and will try the same, but boot without sim card and wifif then disable the update app.....root then add sim.
Hopefully that will work cause I need my root. Dammit Samsung how dare you "burn" us again !!!

as long as the phones don't come preinstalled then it's fine.
Well... I just updated to API4 intentionally, to try out the new update on my v1 device. I gotta say it's much more snappier now and lag is completely gone after it fully boots everything. But it's still not worth losing root over. So I'm either gonna get a refund or buy the international version, better yet might just say goodbye to sammy all together.
I don't know why anyone is still surprised about non-Nexus devices being locked down. Sure, a device might get root access, but it's the OEMs job to fix it in future builds because it's an exploit that needs to be fixed.
My update downloaded but I disabled, anyone know where the update file is? What folder? I can't find it.
the update ran as soon as it connected to their wifi network to set up the phone. crap, can't root now.

Same here, it downloads on its own but it can be postponed up to 3 times before it automatically installs the update, so what do I have to disable so the update won't install, or where can i find the update and delete that sob? Any info would be much appreciated as I don't have access to a computer to root or have the time at this very moment.

You can go into settings and turn off auto updates, or download package disabler from the play store and disable the 2 software updates lines. I still have a v1 phone and no update here because of that

please help September update

can someone post the update the sd slot on my phone stopped working after trying at least 3 microsd cards, i decided maybe if i flashed the older firmware it would start working again needless to say it didnt work and now my phone wont boot and everytime i try to flash a firmware i keep getting an error that says "sw rev check fail : {abort}fused 4 < binary 2" can someone help me out on this please
The good news is it is fixable, you just need the exact firmware you were using before (or newer.) It sets a version number in the bootloader and the firmware you downloaded has a lower version.
Unfortunately, I've been trying to find that same new firmware for 3 days now with no luck. (Keep reading though!) I'm trying to switch a tmo over to att, and since its going to be a work phone they insist it have the att firmware in 'official' mode - fortunately, they don't care what the paint on the back says.
If someone with that firmware posts the 'Firmware' page from Phone INFO ★Samsung★ I might be able to get it. (And if I do, I'll send it over - much more reliable than the official recovery method.)
You may have already lost everything on the phone, but I hope you were prepared for that. You might be able to fix the softbrick (resulting in it being 100% stock) with 'samsung smart switch' (win/mac) using 'emergency device recovery'. It will ask for your model number (SM-G935A) and serial # and then it will download and odin-flash the firmware for you.
I say 'might' because I tried that for the tmo phone last night and it eventually just crashed.
Forgive any weird disjointed text, it is early in the morning.. if some part of that didn't make sense let me know.

The firmware is available, but the source is questionable. As you discovered, ATT does not post their ROMs (just one more reason why they are THE Evil Empire).
Most are getting their files from a Persian site:
http://dl.pars-hamrah.com/ (switch to English)
And the G935A PI2 files are here:
http://dl.pars-hamrah.com/index.php...ATT4API2_USA ATT Android 6.0.1_4File Firmware
Premium fee is required for download and I have not looked into the cost. I have read that they are legit, but who knows...
Found it on clangsm.com as well, which is just as sketchy. I'll see what I can do, might have enough info with the filenames (and might not..)
Edit: Might just be too early in the morning (I'll try later tonight) but the info I need is definitely on that page from the phone info app. (I'm not doing anything magic, just trying a couple of apps.)
Alternately if someone wants to PM me an AT&T serial number (not the imei! always think REALLY hard about saying no if anyone asks for that!) I can see about listening in on the smart switch recovery.
It be great if you found it. Be nice to start from Sept firmware.

Missed this the first time through but you should be able to use Odin on the files posted above.

Confirmed worked flawlessly with Odin3 v3.12
My steps for updating and saving data/config:
0) Unfreeze all system apps
1) FlashFire backup to external SD card, make sure to backup /data and /internal storage along with /system in case you need to roll back.
2) Boot to Download, use Odin 3.12 (the unmodified version) to flash the 4 OE FW files
3) Let the phone fully boot, go through the basic setup, go to settings, enable USB/ADB debug and unknown sources
4) Reboot into Download, flash Eng bootloader with the PrinceComsy Odin
5) After phone reboots and starts, run root
6) "Enable SuperSU during boot"
7) Install FlashFire, grant root
8) Flash fixes/debloat, let the phone boot, reboot for good measure (I find that the extra reboot contributes to success)
9) After reboot, flash Xposed, etc.
10) FlashFire restore backup
11) After the phone boots, refreeze system apps
12) Profit.
OMG!
I can't even begin to thank you for sharing these files. I thought I was going to be without a phone for a little while. You are clutch!
Did Sammobile stop carrying USA firmware? It looks like there is no good way to download and manually update the firmware on any USA Samsung devices now.
I was looking for this firmware and had no luck, so I went and check a few other devices I have and NONE of them are on Sammobile anymore... WTF is going on. why would they pull all of the USA firmware off their site and not provide any news release about it.

RETUS Nougat OTA (discussion, root, setups, etc.)

Hey guys,
Not much of a poster but it seems the retus guys are left out in discussions involving flashing our firmware...
I present the official nougat OTA I received for RETUS only. This has the January security patch (vanilla android yet we are still behind security patches...nice Lenovo...).
For those sideloading this and are still on MM, you'll just need to adb sideload the file. Keep in mind that I received my OTA update on a November security patch, so it may not mater at all which patch you have.
RETUS NOUGAT OTA (Mega link)
Preparation:
For those who rooted and caused a bunch of hell on your system partition, you can grab some stock unsigned firmware here and revert what you did. Fastboot flash the boot, sparsechunks (in order), recovery, and oem images (then reboot back to bootloader to choose recovery mode). You can now finally sideload it flawlessly without losing any data. If you need more information you can check out one the revert to stock firmware guides, I'm not going to post something repetitive.
Root options:
You want root? You have two options...first you obviously need TWRP.
flash a custom ROM
flash this gentleman's (tomparr) custom kernel over on his thread and then flash superSU or Magisk. You can flash both SuperSU and Magisk but you could also just flash Magisk which comes with it's own systemless root.
Revert?
You can reflash MM images but I suggest using something more autonomous like this flashing tool by core720 since there's a lot more commands involved to officially downgrade. There's also an edit of the downgrade bat script in the comments of the thread which I suggest to use instead.
Viper4Android!? Atmos!?
There are currently magisk modules that work (both arise and independent ones).
I am also on the Nov. security and got the notice today of the update being available and twice after what I believe it to be successful it boots back up and tells me there was an error and nothing was updated. So thanks I guess I have no choice but to try to side-load this. Would love to know why it failed to update after being downloaded though.

I'm not sure where you're coming from, have you ever altered your system partition? If you sideload through recovery, you would be able to see the recovery log and see the error it shows each time rather than having the OTA handled through the OTA client.

Tried booting into Recovery to see such logs, all I get is "No Command." I picked this phone up 2nd hand, I am going to assume system partition was altered as the unit was already unlocked but showing to be stock. I am best at this point maybe just installing TWRP and working with what roms are available.

To unlock the stock recovery menu, bring up that 'no command' instance again and hold the power button and double tap the vol+ while still holding the power button. It's tricky, you may need to press them both at once or just play around with it until you see the menu.

Thanks, I was able to get into it, but the sad part is I have no idea on what I am looking at, that might as well been a foreign language...lol. I saw several error logs, but as I said, no idea on what I was looking at. I did not know what to expect but was kind of hoping for a red lag or something that said "hey schmuck loot at this. "

If you invested in some Z mods and want them working (battery packs work but there's no software indication of charge or anything) you may have to flash some stock images to get everything sorted out. If you don't care then by all means you can use a custom nougat rom, the MM modem and radios still work even on a nougat rom.

Hopefully at sometime there is a stock N rom I can flash from TWRP on a MM base.
Or I can try side loading yours and hope that works.
Question: What is the differences in the two "unsigned firmware" in the 1st post?
Just got the update when I checked manually (Consumer Cellular RETUS Unlocked)
First impression: What an... interesting boot animation.

I think there may be a difference in security patches but they have the same build number so I'm not too sure.

Yeah it is, it reminds me of the days when I had a Motorola razr lol.
For anyone that was wondering, the display size scaling works PERFECTLY.
I originally changed the DPI to make everything smaller, but it led to a lot of random issues with other apps (mainly involving the camera). The display size scaling mimics the effects of a DPI change right out of the box without all the issues and need for a computer (I wasn't rooted so)
Also, when I got the update, I was on the December 1st security patch.

Yeah motoblur might look like stock android, but it is very different under the hood. This is also the first 32-bit nougat phone in existence, and certainly the first nougat phone on the snapdragon 625. This phone is also unique in that it has to work with all of the Moto mods (none of the aosp Roms in the "ROMs" section work with Moto mods, so this probably wasn't trivial to add). For such a unique phone, we got updated pretty quickly. We got nougat before the Axon 7 (advertised as "daydream compatible" for +6 months before updated to 7.0) and plenty of other phones. It's not a nexus or a Oneplus, but Moto did good considering this isn't a flagship (although to most of us, it is).

Just want to be clear, Magisk v11 will brick on nougat. V12 works perfectly. I've got a whole thread dedicated to Magisk on nougat and was finally able to pass safetynet using s3v3n's 3.0.1 build and the latest v12 Magisk. Did not flash supersu or ARISE.

Thanks for the feedback (fixed op), I noticed v11 doesn't patch the kernel correctly and the ROM tries to boot without it. I thought it was just me since I was playing around trying to change my cache partition to f2fs but I guess the kernel doesn't support that filesystem for cache (ROM boots but doesn't initialize).
S3v3n's ROM is based on firmware stock right? I tried magisk with V4A module but it doesn't work and Atmos somehow bricks stock but it doesn't brick on a ROM built from different source (works on xperience). I noticed today that the ARISE project has a magisk module for it's latest project so maybe there's a possibility for stock to have systemless V4A.

Addison is our phone model's codename. For instance the Moto z variants are codenamed "griffin." They each have individual builds based on a region's network range and so they are codename as well...We are RETUS (retail US) which is the channel that we get our updates from so that each device will get specifically tuned update based on the region it represents. Reteu (Europe), retbr (Brazil) etc.
As for your 255 error, there is no specific documentation about this. It may be some incompatibility error or a failed sideload based on the same error # given in TWRP and CM recoveries.

You can not bypass it but there is another way to get the update. Check when they reset the quota. First come, first served.

Have you checked firmware finder to see if you could just download or install it through there? That might be a possibility, I saw MHA-AL00 8.0.0.334 (C00) there so that might be the official update, if you check firmware access and it says approved for installation then it's the official update.

Yes i did, using MHA-AL00 and MHA-AL00C00 and none of them work. I can download the files but when i chec firmware access it says "not approved for installation". I wrote to the chinese support because of the HICare where you can see the quote of 20.000 but its always 0/20.000 i have tried every hour, hoping it will be reset and the quote will return to 20.000/20000 but nothing. Its a fake in my eyes. I guess they want to wait a few weeks/month before they release Oreo for the Mate 9 because to be honest, if Oreao would be available already for the Mate 9, there is no reason to buy the Mate 10, specially for those who have the MHA.AL00.

You'll have to install using HWOTA. Just flashing in TWRP won't do anything.

That's right, using Hi Care, couldn't be easier. I was a little upset because the context menu did not work but it was just because it had been reset to the default launcher. I use NOVA because i love to touch any app and a menu opens offering me: uninstall, remove, setup etc. That was the mayor reason to change to Nougat because i really loved Marshmallow. But now everything works fine, Gmail etc. I am happy. My wife is upset because she has the Samsung S8 and they will not release an update to OREO until it comes with the S9. I would never again buy me a Samsung mobile.
My google Play store did not work anymore, uninstall the one you have and use this one

Finally figured out how to get Oreo

I have an Honor 7X and it has caused me incredible amount of stress and waste of time trying to get Oreo. I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT.
I had been trying to use the software updater to check for Oreo for months and it always said I had the latest software - which isn't true. I also used Hi Suite to no avail. I just registered my phone with Huawei and it updated. I am not sure if your third phone is unregistered, but make an account with them and check. I wasted so much time, bricked my phone, paid for DC Unlocker, tried to flash Oreo stock etc... finally I have it the legitimate way.
Now, the next thing I would like to do is install an Oreo custom rom - but I am not paying more money to DC Unlocker. If anyone wants me account details for the DC Unlock to recover their bricked phone, I have 2 days left and will provide info.

That looks reall promising.
Also my BL locked honor 7x has the ancient version B101 !! Thats the version which it comes with.
Tried several things and didn't managed it to update to oreo (Firmware FInder with DNS & Proxy, Factory reset, ...)
Your approach sound promising.
Did you register the phone on www.hihonor.com ?
When you register the phone, did you wait some time before checking for system update again?
Thank you

Thanks for your suggestions!
I am also stuck @ B101 version since ages (12/2017).
1. hurupdater just works if BL is unlocked. I have no BL unlock and also will leave it as it is
2. This approach does'nt either! Have tested DNS & VPN method, the device is seeing the update but always states "Update Package error" (just from mind, did'nt remind me of the correct message)
Have tested this with several packages where FF always states that it is approved.
So the OPs approach seems maybe an solution/workaround.
The update was immediate after I registered. However, I have thought about the process I took.
I tried several times using various methods of updating to oreo... and finally I bricked the phone.
I then downloaded DC Unlocker and paid to unbrick the phone and tried to flash official stock rom for Oreo. It didn't work.
I then flashed official stock raught rom and the phone unbricked. I made an account with huawei and registered the phone. Immediately the update for oreo popped up.
My thoughts - either I was using a modified rom which the vendor installed and this prevented an update to oreo, or I just needed to register.
My advice - try registering an account with huawei and if you don't get an update, try flashing official stock rom with no modifications. Also make sure the stock rom is designed for your particular phone - I learnt the hard way and bricked the phone. But in the end, many hours later and 18 euros later I have Oreo.
Yes it true, Android Pie should be available soon - but I believe if you can't get Android 8, it's unlikely the phone will update to 9.
Huawei has made it very difficult for people with their restriction on unlocking bootloader - very very disappointed. My main phone is Huawei P20 Pro and I am very happy with it, but the Honor 7x is a potentially amazing phone... just disappointed with a few things. I would have kept the Honor 7x if the camera was a bit better and would have no problem in paying a bit more.
Best wishes guys. I still have access to DC Unlocker if anyone wants it - think it has a day left.

I don't have a lot of time right now as I am heading out...
But download the exact stock Naught rom for you phone - very very important. Don't try Oreo as it won't work. The file should be an official version without any modifications.
I used this website: http://huawei-firmware.com/phone-list/huawei-honor-7x
Also, make sure it is the full OTA (should be about 1.65GB). The file is a zip. You will need to extract the update.app file from the zip.
The DC Unlocker software uses the update.app file from the zip.
Once you have download both the DC Unlocker and official stock rom as outlined above, connect your phone in fastboot mode and flash the update.app to the phone. You will then have the official stock rom. By the way, please back everything up on your phone - I would suggest to a computer.
Then register the phone with the Huawei with your ID and Oreo should download. I will PM you the login details for my DC Unlocker account. I can tell you now - it won't unlock the bootloader, I don't have enough credits for it. I just bought enough to unbrick the phone.
Finally, I can't take responsibility for anything - I am just telling you what I did when 1) I couldn't update to Oreo, 2) I had my phone bricked, and 3) I now have Oreo.
I hope it helps you and anyone else facing this issue.

To be honest, I don't know which one would be suitable for your phone. I made my guess based on the fact that you have a BND-L21 model. Also I was looking out for "FullOTA-MF" rom and also one which I think is Naught.
These are the main factors which I took into account which got my phone unbricked and using the official stock rom rather than a custom one which the vendor modified before I bought it. I have doubled checked, you have about 23 hours with the DC Unlocker to play around...
By the way, you extract the update file from the zip, that is the only file you'll need from the zip
