Issues with tethering
I am using 7.1.2-20170612-OFFICIAL
with Element X kernel N6P-4.12
When I start up hotpsot my laptop connects and I can ping 8.8.8.8 for about 20 pings. and then it stops, the only way to get it to work again, is to reconnect my laptop to the wifi (so disconnect and then reconnect)
I have also done this test , by pining the 4g IP address - so its not even leaveing the phone.
trid it on USB teather stays connected much longer ..
Same issue here with PureNexus, they suggested me to turn off instant tethering but the issue seems to continue.
Try keeping the screen on while using Hotspot and post the results.

After connecting to 3 different wireless connections and none of then working, I'm concluded that my wifi isn't working.
I go to settings and check wifi on, it finds the network, connects, but I lose my entire data connection for the duration wifi is turned on!
Is anyone else having this problem?

I'm having the same issues with the wifi. I downloaded wifi analyzer to make sure I was on a good channel. Set it to the best channel and my signal strength is 100%. I will be able to connect for a little bit but for some reason it goes in and out, connection unsuccessful, yada yada yada. I messed with all the troubleshooting solutions for my router (dgl-4300) but nothing works. If anyone can reply with a fix or point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.
Same Issues
Any help is greatly appreciated. Data working fine when on 3G but Wifi = no data. Connection is fine, IP is fine.
UPDATE: It's working again on my home WIFI. Will have to see if it's just an "at work" issue. Hopefully IT can assist.
Same problem with Verizon MiFi
I have had ZERO problems connecting to the Linksys access points we have setup at my home and my office, but recently my work provided me with a Verizon MiFi (as well as an iPad - don't hate ) and I've had MANY issues trying to get my Vibrant to consistently connect to the MiFi.
My iPad, Motorola Droid, and Laptop have no issues connecting to the MiFi.
On my Vibrant I'm running the 2.1 stock ROM with root & the latest ClockWork recovery.
It will "connect" to the MiFi (I use quotes because I can't really tell - it AT LEAST receives an IP). But I'm unable to send and receive data. I can't even browse to the MiFi's internal configuration page .
To FINALLY get it to connect consistently I have to do some kind of random combo toggling the wifi off and back on and then turning the MiFi off and back on and it will EVENTUALLY connect and stay connected with data flowing freely.
I've customized my configuration a little bit on the MiFi so I'm going to reset it back to factory and not change the config to see if it makes a difference - because at lunch I was able to connect to my boss' MiFi with no problem. I'm thinking it may either be the phone or the mifi...
I've connected to about 10 different wireless networks with NO issues, at all. The connectivity is actually much better than my G1/Nexus.
HOWEVER, last night at a bar I was connected to their wifi, strong signal, but I was not able to use Data. I was in a very poor reception area for T-Mobile... don't think that could be an issue, bit the other places I use wi-fi that is not the case.
I just chalked it up as a fluke and moved on. Not sure what was wrong.
I had this happen to me today. I just rebooted and it went away. Toggling wifi didn't help, but I only tried it once. The phone reboots so quick I figured I'd give it a try.
I have set the phone up manually with static ip. Seems like its a problem with the dhcp.

hello;
so i have a google N7 32Gb i updated it to 4.2.2 and suddenly it has hard times to connect to the internet.
on my laptop (also connected by wifi), i have no problem
on my desktop (connected with a lan cable) , i don't have any problems either
sometimes my N7 works like a charm but other times it doesnt.
I've mentiond when i turn wifi off and back on then i have like 10 seconds of browsing time.
Some have had success by forgetting the connection and rebooting the router, then setting it up again. Wpa-psk seems to be much more reliable than wep. Static ip in advanced settings has helped some. Mine is a dhcp enabled 802.11n with wpa/wpa2-psk encryption and has been flawless.
I use psk 2 but that isn't the problem since I get connection but the problem is my nexus only stays connected for like 5 or 10 seconds.
If I turn the WiFi off and back on on my nexus then I get connected again for like 5 or 10 seconds.
Weird enough I don't have this problem on any of my other devices ....
Yeah. I just started having this problem today on my Nexus 7 with Cellular. The HSPA+ connection doesn't have issues; I can surf normally but when I'm using Wi-Fi, it's problematic.
I didn't have this issue until recently. Very strange.
I used to be able to get Wi-fi tethering working no problem. I've always used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/4-4-1-4-4-2-nexus-4-lte-lte-tethering-t2416822
Lately however what happens is that as soon as I connect I will have internet for a brief moment and then it stops and never works again. As an example I can start a ping to an external IP address and then hit connect on my PC. As soon as I hit connect I will get a couple of replies but then nothing. I can repeat this over and over by just reconnecting to the Wi-Fi tether
Hello.
I've noticed an issue with my phone. When I get to work in the morning, I enable the Verizon hotspot application. It prompts me to disable WiFi and I do so. It then stays on for 9 or 10 hours.
Before I leave work, I disable the hot spot and drive home. When I get home, the phone attaches to my network just fine. Gets an IP address. But every application on the phone reports no network connectivity. It does not matter if I cycle WiFi off and on. The only way I can fix it is to reboot the phone.
This was never an issue on my S4 and wasn't a problem prior to upgrading to v5 of the OS. Any thoughts on this?
The access point is a Cisco 1252AP. All of my other wireless devices work just fine.
So I have been using my Redmi Note 7 for at least 6 months. The wifi signal has been working fine until I changed the router. The router actually gives a very strong connection(up to 63mbs) but randomly everyday my wifi connection turns off. The wifi connection works fine for my computer and other devices though. I'm wondering if this is to do with my phone or my router? Any suggestions will be appreciated.?
I've had some weird Wifi issues as well, though I've seen it on certain other devices too. It has something to do with my home network setup. I found that the best solution was just to use a static IP when on my home network. I just had to be careful to use an address that was outside the range assigned by router. I also had to use the great google to find that a prefix length of 24 means a netmask of 255.255.255.0
Hey, you probably fixed the problem. I had this same problem with all modems, cable works and wifi disconnect. Try disabling ipv6 on modem/router.
Thanks guys!
I've been going through this for the past month as well... Thought my phone was going nuts turns out we just changed the router to a different brand as well
