Hey shaeer I would love to test your rom and help out cheers Reuben
I am running the new bootloader from the the lollipop update so I would like to help to.
Alright, so if I am not mistaken to install these new lollipop custom roms, users need to have already installed stock lollipop? Am I correct?
I am asking so that I may add this to the OP because I can not test this myself as I don't have the tablet.
PS: Beta 1 will have basic small things that I will need to test such first such as root, as I would not like to move forward with bigger things until I tackle the bigger things such as Aroma and debloating.

I can confirm you need lollipop bootloader. Can do this by flashing stock firmware through odin, re rooting then can flash new rom on twrp
Uploading Beta 1 right now. Fingers crossed that it flashes and boots up
Things to check for:
-See if it flashes
-Check for root (See if a root app works)
-Check for working Wi-Fi
-Check for Google Play Store downloading/updating apps
Please let me know of any errors
Beta 1 link added to OP.

Running now. Boots fine. Wi-Fi works. No errors on play store after installing couple things. But supersu isn't working. Doesn't come up with promt screen. Same problem as ironrom
Shaheer, heres the fix for root problems. Its something with the superuser app not responding. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=59730789
More of a workaround than an actual fix

Thanks for the info dude! I'm integrating into the next beta and hoping it works. (Beta 3 that is)
PS: Beta 2 is upcoming with a slightly different fix for root. It may or may not work (May not even flash properly lets see)
ETA for beta 2: Uploading ~15-20mins remaining
I had found a strange thing I flashed the rom with gapps then flashed Super Su and set up my tab as normal. I then opened SuperSu which seemed normal, tested T-backup which showed I had root then I used root checker which said I didn't. Look forward to testing beta 2

Wow, that's something you got there. So T-Backup is showing root is fine but root check isn't
UPDATE: Beta 2 is uploaded and link is added to the OP.
Beta 2 What to look for:
Check to make sure it flashes properly
Check for root
Check for working wi-fi
Any issues, please report
So at the same time beta 3 is out as well. It has implemented @DUHAsianSKILLZ fix for root in it. I hope it flashes alright
Same things to check for as in beta 2

Awesome!!! If you don't mind, just to confirm if clean flashing beta 2 does the same result, could you please try clean flashing it as well? I'd really appreciate that

Ok, clean flashed went well exactly the same as a dirty flash, root and wifi working just fine.

Perfect!! Now, I can move onto the bigger parts such as Aroma and debloating. Beta 4 should be uploaded by tomorrow or so, possibly today

Ok I will skip beta 3 and wait for beta 4 as root is working fine.
I'm rooted with Xposed installed on my Pure running stock 6.0 and was wondering if I'd lose root or Xposed once the official Nougat update rolls out for us? Will I have any trouble installing it since I'm rooted?

Have u done a systemless root ? If yes, u'll get an OTA update, whenever its released. You'll be able to update securely.

you can not just update OTA when you are rooted. im sure you are running TWRP and you have an modified partition.
OTA wont install cause it needs stock recovery. There are options to use OTA with Flash Fire.
Look for threads om Chain Fires Flash fire and read it carefully.
Cheers.
The fact is we don't know how root will work on Nougat, or Xposed... It took Xposed a while to get support for Marshmallow when it released (a few months if I recall correctly, they almost said f*ck it and gave up on Xposed completely), could be the same thing with Nougat.
Chainfire will probably have (or has) get root working on Nougat (I really haven't investigated this)... Google has stated that the system is more secure, which they did with Lollipop and Marshmallow, and even then Chainfire stated that Google could, potentially, shut down the ability to root completely by known means quite easily.
You cannot update/upgrade with TWRP installed or when rooted... You must be stock for it to work.
While I do believe Google could shut down root capability, I don't think they will at this time. At least not on the Nexus phones. And I feel that with companies like Motorola giving the ability to unlock bootloader, I doubt it more.

Unlocking the bootloader to allow 3rd party recovery and roms could still be allowed if rooting stock is impossible, but I agree with your assessment... Xposed on the other hand, is just evil, wouldn't bother me one bit if it disappeared.

Hey guys,
I've always rooted my galaxy S phones in the past, but I did never feel the need to root a nexus device until now. I would like to get the full functional pixel launcher, pixel navbar and the pixel apps to work on my nexus 6p, since they won't be coming to our devices.. But, since I've been out of all this for a while, I'd like to ask you some questions.
Is flashing TWRP and superSU still the way to go?
Is it still possible to flash system and radio to get the latest updates while still keeping your data?
Is root cloak working in 7.0?
What apps aren't working when rooted and what are other problems people run into with a rooted device these days?
Thanks in advance everyone!

There is a utility called FlashFire that will allow to to apply updates to a rooted phone without losing root or custom recovery.

Thanks for the tip!
Also, I've read somewhere that it's necessary to decrypt user data partition to make flashing zips possible. Is that true?

No, that is no longer true. TWRP 3.0.2-0 freezes on 7.0 encrypted so what you posted was the workaround. TWRP 3.0.2-2 is the latest version compatible with 7.0. You can install zips as normal. Thing is, it has a bug that affects backups. Read post #1152 of the TWRP thread for more info:

Can anyone help on how to modify current TWRP to support encryption?
Nothing as of now. The support is dead.
Yesterday I tried rooting my phone by using almost every instance of magisk available on the web, but I either end up with a bootloop or Error 255.
There is no point installing twrp, you will only break your phone.
Only solution is never trust honor again in terms of development support.
SAME Issues.

Unfortunately, i'm regretting getting the H8P instead of the OP5. Kinda had a feeling this would happen but took a shot anyway.
Tried many versions of Magisk but all ends up in bootloop. Spent over 30 hours on the device, tinkering.
Best bet would be to flash Stock, lock bootloader and forget about SU . The only choice given how expensive the phone was to a common man when it released.
No more Honor or Huawei every again. For me or anyone who askes for suggestions.
I'm not that into android that i can jump in to help devs aswell. But i will try to stay active and support those who brick their device.
@anirudh & @shailendra1993
Sorry, but you seem both out of topic.
It seems to me latest official magisk is working on your device by flashing a patched ramdisk via fastboot.
Coming back to OP, the latest public TWRP available for your device seem to be there https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8-pro/how-to/restoring-dukfullotaromflasher-t3741223But they may not support encryption...

Thanks ! I get constant bootloops when I flash almost all versions of magisk on stock Oreo 8.0.0.323 . I'm now using AOSP from open krin . 8.1 . Not the most stable rom, but I love stock Android. Definably miss a few stock rom features though. It would help if you tell us the version of magisk flashed and also stock rom version.
And the installation method you followed for magisk was patching boot using magisk manager and flashing the image via fastboot right?

Hey,
I followed those same instructions before.
From v 15.4, we can directly extract our boot.img , patch it using magisk manager and flash it using fastboot.
And it works like a charm. With data encrypted.
Thanks for your inputs

I come from an Honor 8 completely turned inside out (root,twrp,xposed,gravity,substratum,v4a,titanium backup, kali linux and so so so on).
Can I hope to get almost half of them on my new Honor 8 Pro? I would stay on latest stock B189, but If I well understand there are problems with TWRP and TB because of encryption. What is the state of the art we can get on Nougat? Thanks a lot.

Ive recently purchased one plus 6t and I unlocked bootloader and install twrp in it. After following all instructions of xda developers, i tried to wiped oxygen os beta 4 ( i was using beta 4 then) and after wiping everything ( including oxygen os ) from the device, i booted into the system. According to me, if no os is installed on one plus device, it should not show anything if we boot into the system. But surprisingly, I found that oxygen os beta 3 was running. Now, how did it happen I can't figure out... maybe there are multiple layers of oxygen os... I don't know

Check out these links. Also, one other item you should search for and research if you haven't is how to recover your phone and the limitations of the methods available to any device you're using. XDA has a lot of helpful posts to guide you, use it's search features.

The OP6T is an A/B device. The phone has two partitions of which one is active. If you install an OTA Update it'll be installed to the inactive Partition WHILE you're using your phone. There is no Need to let the phone boot in recovery mode to install the update. After the update is finished it'll boot the other Partition where the update was installed.
I think this is what you're experiencing here
