The processor Kirin 960 doesn't outperform Snapdragon 835 in benchmarks but who cares about benchmarks in 2017 the real life performance of Honor 8 pro seems to be just smooth even while gaming and other stuff and their is a plus point that the Kirin 960 processor doesn't seem to get overheated while playing heavy games unlike Snapdragon 835 in OnePlus 5 so I'd feel to opt or prefer the underrated Honor 8 pro or Honor 6X or Honor 9 against OnePlus 5 considering the price that Honor Phones are available!
If you get your hands on honor 8 pro, please tell us how it compares against OP5
People still care about benchmarks in 2017. Wow.

Honor 8 pro is no slouch in terms of performance. It's a real flagship in performance. You can keep 20 or maybe more apps open at the same time. I have tried with 10 and none of the apps closed abruptly.
Apps open quick.

This is why benchmarks are becoming pointless. Every 2017 flagship performs like this. Thoughts @joe2k01?

And I don't even understand those speed tests comparing two smart phones together. I mean who is gonna compare them in real life. No one uses a stopwatch to calculate the time.
People get mad if one phone manages to open some app 2 seconds earlier and crown it as the king. Come on.[emoji23]

All the flagships these days open apps fast enough, for me, the only criteria for choosing a smartphone would be how good the development is for it

I was a rom freak. I loved customising my phone a lot with all the features. I am using a custom skin for the first time and I am absolutely not missing any feature from custom rom (except maybe double tap to sleep and wake).
And so, I am not feeling the need to root this device. The performance out of the box is exceptional.

I completely disagree with that.
Honor 8 pro has a bigger and higher resolution screen with higher body to screen ratio.
Homor 8 pro has better chipset with larger ram and internal storage.
Honor 8 pro has a better front facing camera.
The things that could have been upgraded are -
Rear camera - Both honor 8 and honor 8 pro have cameras with same aperture (f2.2). I would have liked the aperture to be atleast 2.0 on honor 8 pro.
Amoled screen - Maybe they could have used an amoled screen
Nothing else really. I am completely OK with my Honor 8 pro. Just want 8.0 upgrade by the end of year.

Honor 8 Smart got launched today for a price tag that is nearly double than that of Honor 5C.
What is there in Honor 8 smart for the doubled price ?
1. Both Honor 8 Smart and Honor 5C has Kirin 650 processor. Processor in Honor 8 smart is clocked at 2GHz and the one in 5C clocked at 1.7GHz.
2. Honor 8 Smart has NFC which 5C doesn't have in its indian variant (NEM-L22)
3. Honor 8 Smart has Dual tone Flash compared to the single tone flash in 5C
4. Honor 8 Smart is equipped with Gyroscope which Honor 5C and even 5X don't have.
5. Honor 8 Smart doesn't support FM radio which is supported by 5C
6. Honor 8 Smart supports single-SIM (Nano-SIM) slot unlike 5C which supports dual sim.
7. Honor 8 has HiSilicon Hi6402 24-bit DAC, Smart PA amplifier for audio amplification which is not there in 5C.
8. Both Honor 8 smart and Honor 5C will be upgraded to EMUI 5 (Nougat)
All other things such as battery, camera, RAM, internal, 4G support are same in Honor 8 Smart like 5C.
So decide your preference and get the one which suits you well.
24-bit DAC is a welcome feature :good:

This seams to be true for the indian version of the phone, where the Honor 8 smart was released too, but for example the european Honor 5C (NEM-L51) has NFC.
Maybe provide links to the exact compared phones or the model number for better comparison. Thanks

Hello all,
which of these two would you suggest?
I prefer bigger screen, but since it's only a 0.3 inch difference that's not a big deciding factor.
the most important factor for me is durability, both in terms of software (higher chance for future android updates) and hardware (build quality).
I know the SoC on honor 8 is better, but I don't play games, is the SoC on Nova 2 plus enough for web surfing, youtube, facebook, etc. ?
also battery life is very important.
(don't suggest honor 8 pro, because it's much more expensive in my country. these two are the same price)
please help me decide, i am dying here :crying: :crying:
nova 2 + ::
Metal body ,best cameras f 1.8 ( pictures will be awesome),battery is good backup with 3340 mAh,new Soc have to see wheather it performs well.
Honor 8::
Premium feel , great development(custom oreo is under-desk),decent battery life.good performance, cheap.also we got 2 years policy software update.
i prefer honor 8 over nova 2 +.
choose wisely
If you want battery, then go with Nova 2 plus.
All I can say now is, do a list with the things you want in a phone then, see which fots your needs better
All the best
I think u should go for the Honor 8 rather than the Nova 2 Plus. Obviously it has a greater chance of getting future software updates but considering how much more expensive it is than the Honor 8 it doesn't seem to be worth the money.
It has a Kirin 6xx series processor instead of the 9xx series processor. The 6xx series is a mid ranger processor so the performance will never live up to the Honor 8. It only has A53 cores which are low power cores. Whereas the Honor 8 has both A53 and A72 which means performance will be a lot better. Even in the graphics front the Honor 8 easily outclasses it with a 4 core GPU instead of a 2 core GPU. U might see battery gains thought because of the SOC only running off of A53 cores.
About the camera it won't be a huge upgrade from the Honor 8. It has a selfie camera with 20MP which will definitely be better but in terms of rear cameras it might perform only a little better in low light because of it's f1.8 aperture.
Considering how the processor and GPU is a downgrade and how the camera is only marginally better I think I would go for the Honor 8.
But then again it depends on what u want better performance or better battery life.
I've also attached a full spec comparison below.

I don't really dislike Redmi note 6 pro but I have handled that device and I feel Honor 8x is better. Purely for software point of view, EMUI felt more natural and matured than MIUI. On 8.2, I haven't came across any issue that I felt like reporting whereas in MIUI there are such issues that you won't even know how to explain it properly and it goes months within any fix.

I have seen Xiaomi is going to release Note 7 in Feb 28 but I have been wondering that "It comes it with snapdragon 660 or 675?". If they release Note 7 with snapdragon 675, the Note 7 Chinese version will lose android development because no developer will buy it.

I'm talking about other factors, even my 3 years old Zenfone could take 48mp pics.
The rate increases by almost 50% for just camera and SD675 upgrade.
What 50% rate? If you are talking about price, you are mistaken. It will be 50USD more expensive than RN7 for the equivalent ram/storage variant. And thing about in screen fingerprint is a rumor based from that 48 Mp teaser photo. If the specs were based off the teaser, there would also be 24W charging and liquid cooling. But that would put this phone in above 300 USD price range which would basically make it more expensive than a Pocophone. And nobody would be buying it. But they are presenting it is a game changer, budget king and so on. Makes no sense from marketing point of view and is completely illogical business-wise. After all, all phone manufacturers are in the business of making money.
Don't board the sheep train. There will be no in screen fingerprint, only different cpu and camera sensor, eventually more ram/storage

Hi! Performance are similar, OP7 pro is a powerful phone: with Oxygen OS you can see the difference in benchmarks apps, but in normal use I think you can't.
The biggest difference is the display: 30bit color and 120hz refresh rate are amazing. Wonderful display!
