Hello everyone. I created this guide for the Canadian D852 since I didn’t find anything that was straight forward. Credit goes to all the developers who made it possible for us to keep using our beloved LG G3.
This is my first attempt to create and share a guide. I hope it will be useful to other users. If you find any error or have suggestions, please send me a message.
Download all the files before you begin. Do not forget to copy your ROM and GAPPS to your SDCARD before you install TWRP.
Go back to Lollipop using LGUP **Always use USB 2 port. It won't work with USB3**:
Download your kdz (d85220… not d85230). I downloaded mine from:
https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-d852-firmwares/
Follow these instructions (works with D852 don’t worry):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64624353&postcount=3
Choose the kdz from your provider. For example, I have an unlocked Fido phone but I want to use it with Bell. So I used the Bell 20k KDZ.
When selecting a file to flash, type *.* and press Enter in the filename for your .kdz to show up. If you do not, it will only show .tot.

Root your phone using this method:
Enable ADB debugging.
Unplug usb cable.
Go to Settings > About Phone > Software Information and tap build number until you are presented with "You are now a developer".
Back to Settings screen.
In Developer Options, enable USB Debugging.
Connect usb cable.
Click OK when asked to allow USB debugging in android.
I use the root.bat method. If it doesn’t work go back to step 1 and try again.

Install TWRP using Autorec:
Copy the rom and GAPPS to your SDCARD before you install TWRP.
Download the file from here:
https://mega.nz/#F!rtI1naZT!LJIKUVpv8fYjrvhpykA4_A!2o433RBZ
Transfer the file to you internal or external SD card.
Head in to Settings -> General -> Security, then scroll down until you see Unknown sources. Tick the checkbox, then hit OK on the next prompt.
Install APK via the file manager.
Open App.
Grant root access.
Wait a few seconds while it does some backup.
Wait for prompt to say that it is ready to flash.
Click the button to Flash TWRP.
Wait for it to be done.
Phone will reboot into TWRP
Update TWRP to the latest version if you want.
Download and install Nougat rom. Tested with CrDroid v3.6 and open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-crdroid-t2955012
http://opengapps.org/
**I’m not sure if it’s necessary but I did it anyway** Flash Dene Hybrid Baseband via TWRP (don’t forget to wipe cache and dalvik after) if necessary (mobile data is unstable etc…).

That’s it! Enjoy Android Nougat!
N.B. That is the only way I was able to get a stable mobile data connection. Only flashing baseband did not work for me.
Thanks, barguin, for a very informative thread.
How is the battery life on this Nougat ROM? I will be switching from Fulmics MM, and my provider is Fido.
Battery is very good. I can do a full day easyly.
Regards!
@barguin: thanks for the quick response. Did you try Exposed for Nougat? I know that Exposed is frowned upon in the CrDroid thread, but there are a couple of modules I would like to try. Thanks.
I do not use exposed...sorry.
Thx

Personally I had some problems with lg flash tool.
There is no need to enter download mode! LGUP will do it for you.
I read the heading in this thread and it said something about not downloading the D85230 file .. and my phone is D8530g as shown in the screenshot .. so is the D85220 file gonna damage my phone .... Sorry for the newbie question !
Sent from my LG-D852 using XDA Free mobile app
The D85220 file will not damage your phone. Instead, that file will install an older Android version on your phone, namely Lollipop (this step is required to gain root). You are currently on Android Marshmallow, and you will end up with Android Nougat if you complete all steps correctly. The procedure is meant to work like this, one step back, two steps forward.
The "20" or "30" in the file names (on that website hosting KDZs) have the following meaning:
"20" = it's a Lollipop file
"30" = it's a Marshmallow file
"40" = it's a Nougat file (I can only wish, there is no such Nougat file).
But seriously, the procedure requires more than a modicum of familiarity with flashing and with using various pieces of software. There is potential for bricking your phone.
No offense, but, judging from your question, I would suggest that you should enlist the help of a friend who is a bit more knowledgeable on this topic.
Guys .. Can I use the ROM on D855?! If not, so how to flash the ROM without getting any issues?!!
Thanks.
Do not flash the rom on the D855 it's only for the canadian variant.
Did this on my d852 and it's stuck booting on Oreo, Nougat, and stock Lollipop. Happened after I installed TWRP, any fixes?
edit: i think it was the roms.. got 3 bad ones i guess lol. fulmics worked.
Just an FYI, I followed the LGUP instruction for my Bell D852 but it was soft bricked, doing the flash using "refurbish" instead of "upgrade" did it for me and I was able to finish rooting my device!
How to root symphony i60.... please reply me
my phone no sound
I do not hear sound from my phone after installing CRDroid. the programs are working. YouTube is opening but I can not hear the sound of the media being played.
I do not hear the sound of the media played when I plug in the phone.
please help me.
Thanks alot man, this was super handy!
Edit: Seems I've got that problem where shutting the phone off bugs it and it won't turn back on unless you remove the battery and put it back in. It also resets the time. Kind of annoying. Seems to happen to some D852s after installing TWRP.

I know a lot of people are going to have problems updating to the latest gingerbread build.
PLEASE NOTE: This update will remove root but you can root again with CF-Root from second post.
ALSO, THIS PROCESS WILL WIPE DEVICE!
1) Put your P1010 into download mode (by holding POWER and VOL-DOWN):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2)I went ahead and used ODIN tool to downgrade/upgrade to the latest FROYO firmware before Gingerbread:
P1010XWKC1_OXX
(OEM Flash Guide here)
You should have the same tick marks and files loaded as in my screenshot. Be sure that the box is yellow on the right and you can initiate the firmware install by clicking 'Start'.
3) (VARIES) From there, after restart some people will experience a force close followed by a reboot loop. You will need to flash this kernel via ODIN:
P1010ZHKF1-kernel
(Flash this the same way as above but UNCHECK Re-Partition and CSC!)
4) You will then be able to boot into Froyo.
5) You will use ODIN again to install the Gingerbread update and flash just the PDA (leave CSC blank and leave Re-partition unchecked this time).
P1010XEUKPG
(Flash this the same way you flashed the Kernel in step #2)
6) After it reboots, you will have 2.3.6
7) (Optional) steps in post #2 to install CWM Recovery and Root.
I recommend installing CWM Recovery and CFRoot in the thread below:
ClockWorkMod Recovery for P1010
After you install CWM Recovery, you can do a nandroid backup and never worry about brick again! (=
Also, you can use ES Explorer to mount root and get rid of the Samsung bloatware (AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!)
For those wanting to remove the bloatware (AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!):
You can remove the bloatware with ES Explorer, there's an option to enable 'Root Explorer'. Download the latest version from the Market.
See below:
screenshots are from my Galaxy Nexus but it's the same for any Android 2.2+.
1) Go to the 'Settings' screen
2) Change home directory to '/'
3) Tick the 2 marks on the bottom
4) Browse to /system/app
5) Delete whichever app you don't want, but do it with caution (I usually move these files to /sdcard and move back if it causes any type of force close)
If you totally borked out the system in such a way that you can't boot, you can always move it back in recovery via ADB (much more complicated process but it's possible).
Also, why not do a nandroid backup before messing with deep system files?
Nice! Great topic.
Updated op! =)
this is the best christmas present so far.

If you followed those steps, the ROM runs stable without any FC's or reboots. I even have setCPU installed on mine.
Also, it's good to note that I'm running CF-Root kernel from the thread in 2nd post.
Plus, you could always downgrade if you run into issues. Just remember to always BACKUP YOUR DATA!
nice!

Could you attach the logcat here? or if you could send it directly to theos0o, that'll be great. he's the modder of the skype apps I pasted above.
could you also try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153285 this works for me using froyo.
im getting excited about this.. is it really for the p1010 wifi only device? because from what i can see in this subforum is the devs working on the p1000 only. another thing, please don't tell me this is an official update. i don't think the bad sammy will update this little tab.
Depending on where you are freon yes it its the official ireland uk update and makes massive difference as well
Much better tab.

@densets, skype is working for both skype mods I posted earlier. you just need to enable 'use valid preview'. for droidrx's version, set the app to 'crop' so your video is centered.

sorry for the newbie question, but what's the password for the 2.3.3 file from sammobile?
edit: already found it, my bad
Interestingly, I've followed the guide exactly as mentioned above (had KC1 and the HK kernel from previous flashing) and flashed the PDA for XEU 2.3 from Sammobile, and I'm now stuck in an eternal bootloop. I like the new samsung boot music though, better than the previous one
Any suggestions?
Edit: I wiped data and cache from recovery, flashed KC1 and the Kernel and it boots fine. Checked Kies to be sure and it's offering me FW upgrade to KM2. Should I accept this FW upgrade or just persevere with flashing the new 2.3 firmware?
In this tutorial I am just going to be covering how to install a ROM and how to install TWRP. Before we start this, you are going to need THESE files. You will be taken to MEGA to download the files. You will also need to download the Samsung USB Drivers. This guide is going to be in a Step-By-Step format so should be very easy for everyone to follow.
Step 1: Download the files that are linked above and extract them all to a location that is best for you,
-Make sure you have WinRAR or 7-Zip, just to be safe, use THIS website to download either WinRAR or 7-Zip.
-For example, I extracted the files to "I:\XDA ROM Files".
Step 2: Enter the folder by the name of "Odin3 v3.12.3" and open "Odin3.exe",
-You will need this for later on in the tutorial, so just leave it open.
Step 3: You will now need to boot your Galaxy S3 into "Odin Mode", also known as "Download Mode" by doing the following steps:
Power Off Your Device,
Power Back On Your Device Using "Power Button + Home Button + Volume Down",
Release When You See The Boot Screen,
You Will See A Disclaimer,
Press 'Volume Up'.
Step 4: Plug your phone directly into your computer / laptop,
-Make sure that you have got the drivers downloaded, if not, download them.
-The phone should appear in Odin as a Com X port.
Step 5: Return to Odin3,
-Uncheck everything except f reset time in Odin. If you leave auto reboot on when flashing twrp, the phone will reboot and it will replace twrp with stock recovery upon automatic reboot.
Unchecking auto reboot, removing battery etc. and manually booting into twrp after flashing will ensure twrp will stick and stick recovery will not return on reboot.
Step 6: Click "AP" and find the following file "TWRP 3.0.2-1.tar" and click start,
-This should start installing TWRP to your device and you should see a progress bar on Odin3 and on your phone.
-After installation, your phone should reboot.
Step 7: Allow your phone to fully boot and load,
-Make sure your phone is still plugged in.
Step 8: When you have selected a ROM, download it.
-The ROM should be a ZIP file,
-Transfer the ZIP file to your "Download" folder on your phone.
Step 9: We are now going to install the ROM, follow the next steps very carefully,
Power Off Your Device,
Use The Following Keys To Boot Your Device,
Power Button + Home Button + Volume Up,
You Will Be Prompted With TWRP Recovery,
Click "Install"
You Should Now Be Prompted With Your Internal Storage Folders,
Go Into Your Downloads And Find The ROM,
Install The ROM.
That is it. You now have a custom ROM on your phone. Please leave some support if I have done anything incorrect. If you need any help please feel free to message me! Thanks guys, I hope you enjoy my first post. I am trying to hardest to make a commitment to this community.
Just a quick little thing from me, if you need any help then just give me a PM and I will help you the best I can

Don't unzip the ROM before flashing. If you unzip, you'll get a bunch of other folders which TWRP can't flash individually.

Amazing work! EVERY ONE OF US NEEDS TO LEARN command line, but it's always excellent to see amazing devs make an all in one like this for the guys that refuse to learn the hard (right) way, and for vets that aren't quite smart enough to make a tool like this themselves, like me, but appreciate the **** out of this little gem making my first custom Oreo ROM from stock rooted a breeze! Question about the install/uninstall apks feature: how does this work? Is it batch or one at a time?
EDIT: Also, to flash TWRP, do I need to be in bootloader mode and do I need to disable security on my phone before flashing? Will I lose root when flashing it? I'm using the latest Magisk.

You can't directly flash a custom rom with this tool, you need a TWRP already flashed on your phone and you can use "Recovery Zip Flasher" ( I do not recommend it ), i think is better to put the rom on your phone and flash it from your phone.
This tool can't root directly your phone, but gives all you need to root it (Bootloader Unlock and the flash of a TWRP).
Pixel book? This tool is only available for Windows, maybe you can use it on pixelbook with a virtual machine, but i don't know how pixel book works
With the new update a i make a new recovery flasher option for devices with project treble. Test it and told me if it works

Hi ya'll,
Yesterday I got me a V20 H990DS and proceeded to unlock it with dirtysanta.
I soon noticed I can't connect to the mobile network at all (network status is disconnected, always). Everything else works ok, SMS, Wifi, calls.
I flashed back to stock using a kdz and the problem remains the same. I have a couple of ideas as for what to do next:
Flash the modem: I remember having the same problem with my LG G4, all I had to do was to flash the appropriate modem. I don't know how to flash modems or where to get them though.
Flash the correct kdz: the packaging and an IMEI checker both state the phone is AUS and I might have flashed a wrong version of it. Another IMEI checker claims it belongs to the ABC region (?). Frankly, I don't think it even matters.
Use the secret menu to fix some network configurations: I know absolutely nothing about it so you'd have to guide me.
The bottom line is, I need help, please.
Flash this using LGUP and use only Partition Download option.
https://lg-firmwares.com/downloads-file/4345/H990ds10b_00_OPEN_ESA_DS_OP_1102.kdz
You will get Blue screen saying phone reset status 2.
Then go to download mode again and flash Indian version v10j available on the same website.
Use same Partition Download option this time also.
Once successfully flashed... Phone gets its signals.
Try this and update

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
I'm using LGUP 1.14 with uppercut and I can't find any "only Partition Download option", The options I have available are: Refurbish, Upgrade, Phonesetting and FOTA Upgrade.
Which of these options should I use? Should I get a different version or LGUP?
I'd like to be 100% sure before I flash my phone again.
Thanks again.

Try installing this...LGUP.zip file contents and try again. Uninstall your old version before proceeding. If your phone is detected in download mode as H990DS, then you should be able to see the options.
If your phone is not detected, then unzip V20 dll and paste in root folder of LGUP in the C/programfiles path.

Cheers

Hi, Thanks for the reply again.
I get this dialog and I don't know which partitions to choose:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Sorry for questioning every step of the process, Flashing partitions is a serious business and I don't want to brick my phone, it's brand new.
Thanks in advance

Important... download only indian version as given in link for H990DS and when you get dialog, select all and press start...in 3 min your phone will reboot and thats it, your phone is back to life
I flashed to the first kdz and then the second one, just like you told me, There's 0 difference. No mobile network, the rest is unchanged.
I think it might have something to do with regional settings of frequencies and bands, I'm in Israel so maybe I need to change some settings on the secret menu.
I'll ask around and update you if I find a working solution.
Great news you guys!
Apparently all I needed to do was to configure an APN with my provider's details, that's it.
I'm ecstatic!
-Screwed up somewhere as my goal was to install LineageOS and try to use it on an At&t mvno.
-Package was unopened for months, so it still had the older firmware.
-Everything seemed okay after I unlocked the bootloader.
-Then I installed TWRP.
-Did a backup of everything using TWRP before I was going to try and root the device.
-I knew something was wrong when no verity opt encrypt and Magisk gave some error message and failed.
-Now whenever I boot the device, I get a N/A in the top left corner and then goes into TWRP.
-Restoring the backup using TWRP did nothing.
-I thought this would be the solution (dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/misc bs=1M), but I get the bad key first and then N/A before going back to TWRP.

What should I do now?
Any help would be appreciated. Even links to other posts that dealt with this issue is fine. Be aware that my skill level is only a little better than following Youtube videos.
Thank you.
N/A is normal. It will be there forever after you unlock bootloader. Did you format data in TWRP and type yes to format?
Thanks for the reply.
As far as I know, I did not format within TWRP. Is that my next step? If not, please advice what should be done next.
My concern is something is wrong because both the suggestions you gave in that other thread did not result in the phone booting to Android properly.

once you flash TWRP you have to flash a no verity zip and probably magisk and definitely format data to remove encryption for your phone to boot.
Installing no verity zip and magisk produced the following. Did I do this properly because there looks like multiple errors?

I can't read that, LoL. Maybe... Failed toount data? That's because you're still encrypted.
Put the zips on external storage. Format data, type yes.
Now reboot recovery (not system) then flash the zips.
And you can take screenshots in TWRP.
Thanks so much.
I followed your instructions plus the one from the other thread. Phone is now able to boot to the stock Android. I guess my next step is doing a little more research before trying to install LineageOS to see if the phone works well enough on a USA GSM mvno.
One more question please.
On the E4, are the system firmware updates mandatory? I read that users are first notified and then forced to take the update even if you Disable Automatic System Updates.
Is that true? I wish to stay with the old firmware because people have posted that the new firmware eliminates any chance of using a USA GSM sim on a Boost 1766.
Thanks.

Use caution going with a custom ROM on this device, especially with a mvno. You may score far more hurt than benefit. Also consider what you are trying to accomplished going with custom ROMs given the clean stability of Moto stock ROMs. Toss in Xposed framework and a few modules like Gravitybox for full control/customization.
OTA updates can not be processed with a custom recovery (one of several prerequisites that your device no longer meets). You may get notified but the update won't install; you'll be dumped into TWRP. You can easily disable the update engine and corresponding notifications on a rooted device.
