People with the Htc Hd2 have probably noticed that the battery life is horrific.
As i only really need one day or use out of the phone i found a way that gave me close to 50 hourse with normal usage wich i think is very impressive for a 4,3" screen and a 1gzh Qual snapD proscessor.
what to do:
- Go to settings and home and deactivate HTC sense and ativate Windows Standars.
- Also turn the background lighting to constanly 30% and not on auto (you can go as low as you find appealing, but 30% was perfect for me)
this does mean you have to give up the Htc sense which might not be appealing for some people, but for me it was just fine.
(PS) i had the well known SMS problems aswell, but since i deactivated the HTC sense all my messages have been sendt on time and i have recived all my phone calls, i have tested this for a week now so its all confirmed!
you could get more then 50 hours because my "normal use" contains a lot of phone calling wich drains a lot of battery and even after 50 hours i still had 30% left on the battery. each time!

but I think the HTC sense is very important, it's a main fuction of HD2, I like it.
I wish the factories can develop a more capacity battery
Yes disable Sense and install SBP mobile shell. Faster and lower ram usage =)

HTC Sense checks for location, shows weather animations, clock animations. That all uses battery.
SPB is more efficient and yet more customizable.

The settings shortcut will not work in the start menu when Mobileshell is installed, just go through mobileshell's menus to get to the settings. Have you installed the disable HTC messaging cab for when you have sense disabled? This will allow you to use/go to messaging (if you disable HTC messaging you will have to install the Arcsoft MMS client in order to send/receive MMS)
I also disabled senses, because my SMS messages were not arriving?! Very strange..
But with senses off everything goes well.. I hope there will be a fix for sense soon, because it truly is a great piece of software!
(i miss the MP3 player, photo slider, facebook updates on my contact and the direct link to opera )
Disabling sense?
What are the exact steps to disable HTC sense? I goto the today settings but I cannot see any option to disable sense, all I see is two tabs one for changing the background when the device is locked and the other for adding/removing tabs! Please help!!!
Btw if I install SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 then is Sense automatically disabled? I suppose it will be since SPB replaces it but with Windows one can never be sure!

I haven't done it but I can see how it could be done.
When you get to the Today screen you mentioned, there are two tabs at the bottom left. The first says Appearance and the second says Items. Go to Items which is where you'll see all the today settings listed. It also says that checked items appear on the Today screen. The only one checked in that list is HTC Sense. Presumably, that's where you untick it.
*If anyone knows this to be wrong, please correct me. I wouldn't want to be giving out incorrect information.*
Quick one to all who have disabled sense - is HTC Keyboard still working after?
I am also considering turning of sense.
What should I setup to have windows phone 6.5 home screen? (Zune like)
Thx
Just as a matter of interest, why don't you all just try it and see if this works or that works?
If it's not to your liking then re enable sense!
I am dissatisfied with the hd2 battery, don't know what to do, mine only lasts for 1.5 day for normal usage. I think htc should work more on developing the battery technology, something like SAMSUNG phones.
About the tips and ways to have more battery life, I don't know what is the point here:you deactivate all features you have in a bloody expensive phone, and make it like a Nokia 1100 to have more battery? u can simply buy a Nokia 1100 and save ur money while you enjoy 4-5 days battery life!
What I am saying is that if we have to deactivate htc sense, weather animation, location services and make the screen less bright to use the phone for 3 days, then why should I buy a phone which has these capabilities?!
I want a long time battery, while I wanna enjoy my device. I am waiting for a better battery to be offered from htc, something like 9-cell battery for laptops.
1.5 days is fantastic for a smartphone which provides the functionalities of a laptop
id be happy if mine would last the day instead of charging it when i get home at 5pm

Very nicely said with Nokia 1100 example... nothing to add here buddy!!!
I disabled data connection overnight (BsB Tweaks, then shut off data connection) and I only lost 5% battery for 6-7 hours. Turned it on in the morning and barely used the phone and I've lost over 50% in about 11 hours. Only used about 10 minutes of talk time, no web checking. I have outlook and hotmail configured. MS Push was disabled. I have the Docs Indexer disabled installed.
To my sudo-quick-test it seems 3g is killing the phone.
to save battery life i off all the auto updates. i update 'em manually, with this and my ROM/Radio i can last 2 days average and 3 days max
I also thought battery life was a disaster then read in some post that bluetooth was draining batt, tried to turn it of and voila. before it was beetween 0-10% when i was home by 5 and now it is 35-50%.
I don´t like that i "can´t" use the things that is availabale on phone because that´s why i bought it. I had it for about four months now and it feels like nothings ever gonna happen that´s solves the problems, this, the sms prob and that it freezes is my things that can driving me insain, but somehow i just love it anyway
i thing people have to understand that battery technology has not really been developed or improved recently.. so you're using a high tech device with a old/low tech battery, so unless they make the battery big/fat, ur probably only gonna get a day or so of battery life. good example is hd2's standard n extended battery. the extended battery is somethin like 2000+ mAh, but its fat. spoiling the sleek look of the hd2. and bout samsung, its probably cause their screens are bit smaller n the batteries are around 1500mAh compared to hd2's 1230mAh? One thing i dont understand though is why the hd2's standard battery couldnt be buffed up just a tiny bit to at least 1500mAh..
When I flashed CleanEx it improved my battery time. Touch X-Treme did the same thing. Also you should deactivate all auto-update stuff.
Then it could be that your HTC HD2 lasts a day
Hi !
These are the problems I am facing on my Nexus 4 device and I would really appreciate if someone kindly let me know as to how I can solve these serious issues plaguing me since almost a month now. ( Nexus 4 running KitKat 4.4.4 )
1. When the phone is in the pocket and I get any notification it naturally wakes up but then supposed to go back to the Sleep Mode like in any phone normally but unfortunately, my phone stays awake and I notice this when I actually feel the phone growing uncomfortably warm in my pocket !
The screen shows multiple pages open and battery draining like anything ! ( after reading some online problems related to this I have deleted WebChat and closed the Daydream function but the problem still persists and it seems I am not the only one facing this problem . )
This has happened many times.
Further, I have no idea if this happened only after the update or not since I have never used Nexus before and besides , my phone is second hand and was already updated to this version when I had purchased.
2. At times when I am rotating my camera from lets say, Landscape to Potrait mode and visa versa to take pictures the image freezes for a heartbeat and becomes normal once again.
Acting as if memory is not enough !
Storage shows 5.75G left. Two movies and music and no games.
No anti virus app but DU Booster. ( also happened before installing the booster app. )
So far, after using this phone for almost a month I am very happy and I love the smoothness of the phone .
To me this is an Andriod version of an iPhone in terms of smoothness and reliability.
In fact, I think it is better in many ways but if these above issues are solved it would encourage me to buy a new Nexus 5 soon which I am sure is much nicer then a 4.
Thank you for your kind assistance and best regards to all.
Sammy
I assume you've performed a factory reset after having bought it used, is that right?
1. Have you set it up to turn the screen on when a notification is received? It can affect your battery life, especially if it happens to unlock on its own, which I think may be the case if you're reporting "multiple pages open and battery draining like anything"
2. It's quite normal, obviously if the switching time is not THAT annoyingly long. Mine has approximately 40% storage left and sports almost no lag within the camera app, but that fraction of a second is noticeable.
Thanks for your kind reply.
Yes, I did a factory reset.
Let me check the notification status.
With regards to camera when I twist and turn the phone - the image , instead of changing with the position actually ' thinks ', before doing it which means a blurry lag .
I clearly see this from one position to the next.
Further, what I forgot to write and ask was when the phone is in my pocket and I receive an incoming call the screen freezes and I cannot swipe it to unlock and so I have to switch off the power and turn it on and only then swipe and receive the call ! ( I used to get this on a custom ROM on Galaxy S and the Dev gave me this idea and which I apply here too ! )
Thanks again !
Sammy

Ok so my first and main question is, are people still using their old blackstones, if so what for?
I'm EXTREMELY interested. I don't want to be another consumer who throws redundant tech away every 18 months if I can find a use for it. Besides it feels like a part of mobile history, the last of the resistive touch screen era, the new windows phone is too tiley, rigid and related to the disaster that was and is windows 8 and as a techie I like to tinker with things as such windows mobile 6 is just nostalgically beautiful. I could even still see myself developing an app for it in the future even now if I thought of something worth having because it reminds me of my beloved iPAQ which unfortunately I no longer have!
At the moment I'm running a Note 3 which is brilliant and HIGHLY recommended, in between I've had an S2, another good phone so as a phone the touch HD's days are well and truly over, It is however still a fairly decent pocket PC with GPS so at the very least I could still keep it in the car as a backup tomtom.
I first got my hands on an iPAQ 4150 (my reason for joining XDA!) a decade ago, I was 15 at the time and I'd coveted iPAQs for years so when I finally got one I felt like the king of kids along with my 5 friends and younger brother who also had various flavours of pocket pc (his Axim X5 - ironically now worth about £5 is sat on the desk next to me). While I used it for many things including videos, playing monopoly, universal remote, bible, reading ebooks and taking notes in class its main purpose was as a fancy MP3 player with that wonderful bass boosting app called Pocket Music!
On this basis and for old times sake I've decided that I wish to resurrect my Touch HD as a Pocket PC and second mp3 player.
This brings me to my next question, whats the largest/fastest micro SD you've managed to get yours to recognise? I just tried the 64gb sdxc from my note 3 and unfortunately no luck there.
One thing that has disappointed/shocked me somewhat is how difficult it seems to be to find all the millions of programs that used to be, handango was packed, and I've long since deleted all the things I used to have fortunately I did manage to torrent a copy of pocket music! Wahoo! :victory: guilt free it was paid for a long time ago.
So far, I've removed my 6.5 Energy ROM and swapped it for Duttys 6.1 XT turbo for the sake of speed (it was the ONLY 6.1 ROM I could still find - the original orange one having long since disappeared from their (and seemingly any other) website. While the energy home was beautiful it was laggy and drudgerous to use (im sure its fine on LEO) which brings me to my third question.
Does anyone know how I can keep touchflo but still use the default windows mobile 6.1 start menu? I like the touchflo homescreen with the clock and I would still find the weather tab useful over wifi so I would like to keep that if possible but I haven't found a way to have that with default start menu on dutts rom. Alternatively, could anyone point me toward the Orange Rom?
Last question, overclocking, if I remember correctly 670 mhz is easily achievable but at the time I fiddled with this (many years ago) we could only do it while plugged in. I'm certain that has been answered elsewhere but while I'm here, I might aswell add it to the list. Is it now possible to have the OC running on battery power?
To summarise; I want a mininmalist almost iPAQ like OS, windows mobile 6.1, few fancy bits, no social media, no crap, if I could remove facebook from this version of duts rom and other things I deem unnecessary I shall, I want it as fast as possible (my iPAQ was fast and simple with a 400mhz processor so there's no reason this can't be), with the biggest SD card I can find. I want to overclock it, and I'd love to know if there's anywhere that we can still find all the thousands of interesting old apps and games that seemingly used to be out there. I've even toyed with the idea of asking about windows mobile 5 although I dropped the thought when I realised I'd probably lose camera functionality.
And remember first and foremost, I also want to know.. How do you eat yours? :silly::laugh:
Quick update, this rom looks absolutely delicious in 6.1 guise:

Works brilliantly and after flashing 10 roms in a day its my favourite by a long way, only thing is that the weather function won't work via wifi (not tried gprs), any ideas anyone?
So from what I've been able to garner the Touch HD takes micro SDHC but is not compatible with the newer SDXC. While this limits us to 32GB it's still good news because the old walkman mp3 player I have been using was 16GB and these days the fastest top class 32GB micro SDHC card can be had for as little as £12.99! That means I can essentially double the capacity of my mp3 player for £12.99! Clearly, there's still life in the old phone yet!
http://www.mymemory.co.uk/compatible-memory/Mobile_Phones/HTC/HTC+Touch+HD_Memory_Cards
I still use mine as my mobile phone and for Tom tom and storing passwords. It's gone through a few batteries and a new stylus and a new screen. It constantly gives me the shixs because it's a slow ass phone. I'm just waiting for that perfect unicorn rainbow encrusted replacement phone. Thanks for recommending the rom, I'll try it out to see if I can be bothered putting up with this hunk of junk a bit longer.

weather works on mine with wifi.
Holy crap the touch hd is a slow phone. Everything takes at least 3 seconds to respond when clicking. THere must be a quicker rom... I did install the sense 2 version.
I installed the 6.1 weather one. and I overclocked it using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747813
The weather didn't work at first. I dunno what fixed it, but I turned off location awareness in settings on touch flo. then i went to weather deleted all the extra cities, then i updated and turned on location services when it asked and it worked. may be a fluke.

geez the touchhd was a dumb phone. I still am using it because i'm too cheaparse to buy a new phone. But damn... iphone killer it was not. Slow piece of rubbish with a bad camera.
Spent ages trying different variations of manilla and boy are they laggy. A bit better with overclocking. so tried winterface, point ui, spb mobile shell, cHome. Finally the today screen with resco plugin is the quickest. I can't believe i've been putting up with spb and touchflo all this time instead of the today screen.
I bought my Touch HD in december 2008. I have been using it until september 2015. Reason for replacing it was a standy time of only a few hours. (I ditched my Motorola A780 for the same reason btw.) I bought a new battery, but that didn't solve the problem. I was running the WM 6.5 Energy ROM, which made it more touch friendly than the original WM 6.1.
The Moto X Play I have now looked ridiculously big at first, but now I am used to it the Touch HD seems ridiculously small .
I liked using it, but noe I have more reasons to not want the Touch HD anymore: speed (or lack of it) and the non-capacitive, scratch sensitive touch screen.
I am not into replacing a phone every one or two years. I think 7 years is a nice lifetime for a smartphone. So my Moto X Play has at least another 6,5 years to go.
I know I am kicking an old topic, but it's an old phone too. I wonder if there are still people who use it as their everyday phone.
It is permanently in my car always on the charger, serving as music player and backup phone.
I'm still using mine
I've tried the modern Windows phone and Androids but they just don't have the functionality that ~I need. I like being able to use my fingernail on the touch screen for better accuracy than a great big fingertip. I like having a full QWERTY keyboard like the Resco keyboard without constantly having to shift from numbers to characters to symbols. I like the drop-down menus and I like the fact that I don't have to search for the phone app to use my phone as a phone.
The only downsides are the reception in poor signal areas is not as good as my wife's Samsung and the OPERA browser doesn't work very well but then I have a laptop for serious work.
I somebody would bring out an updated version of this phone running Win 6.1 mobile then I'd bite their hand off and upgrade but as it is I'll stick to my Touch HD as long as I can keep it running.
Use all the time
I use mine every day for telephone, email, calendar/diary syncs with OUTLOOK, contacts, word, excel, as a clock, as an alarm.
I use it occasionally as a SatNav, read the Bible on it.
It's now getting a bit long in the tooth and with 2G/3G starting to get switched off I'm now looking for a way to migrate all my stuff including Win Mobile 6.1 to and Android phone. If anybody has a good way to upgrade an Android phone to Windows Mobile 6.1 then I'm all ears.
Using a OnePlus 6T for a month now...
So, i use google duo quite a frequent times...and i close it...
When i restart the mobile...i see multiple instances of google duo running in the background
its kinda irritating and i think it might be the reason for battery depletion during standby(4% in 6 hours when not in use...is it normal?)
so...kinda help please?
Hi guys, Whatsapp has been particulary taxing on my battery while hardly using it, even after the last update. Battery usage has been around 30% at the end of the day. I've read that its been a problem across multiple brands/models but my brother had no problem on his galaxy s9. Check it out. Anyone has had similar issues with a fix / solution? (I do want to keep getting push notifications tho)
had it once about 2 weeks ago on miui 11, whatsapp just ate my fully charged battery through the night (less than 6h).
update apps, restart phone
you know whatsapp is from Mark Z.? they need to record this and that, download all kinds of files, build your database, so they can "provide better experience"
