I worded that really weirdly, sorry LOL I mix up my sentences quite a bit

There's plenty of guides online to bypass frp lock. Not sure of the legality of it, but there's quite a lot. I would look around on YouTube first.

Depends on the model. I've heard H910 doesn't have a kdz. If you can find a kdz for the phone, you can use LGUP or something else I've heard called UPPERCUT, which is the same as LGUP but better in some ways... I haven't done any flashing, especially since just unlocking the bootloader on my model is nearly rocket science.

H918 does have some KDZ's but I can't seem to find one for H91810D
This is the closest i've found so far. https://build.nethunter.com/misc/h918/v10d/
I have 0 clue how to flash that at ALL.

There's plenty of guides to flash kdz files. Wish I could help, but like I said, I haven't done it myself. Search around, see if UPPERCUT is better.

No harm,no foul,we've all done similar on at least one occasion.
You're a good man for offering to help ! :good:
Any help with that?
I am also awaiting an answer.
My last 2 Samsung phones had issues and I needed to Odin back to stock for warranty exchange at T-Mobile.
So I'm holding off on rooting till we have something of the sort for the v20.
Using Odin to flash my s7e back to stock while having severe screen issues saved my butt.
I'm on JoD for reference, and needed to switch phones at a brick and mortar.
Side note : loving the blooming development for this device.
Thanks for that, all parties concerned.

Sound very complicated for newbie. Anyone can try it?
I made an easy to understand guide to do just this.

Does this unroot method work for the sprint variant? I am stock unrooted on the build the phone came out of the box with, and waiting until rooting isn't a one-way street to take the plunge. If it does, are you 100% certain that it had been used in sprint v20s successfully?
That thread specifically says H918. So no.

You are in the exact same position as me. I'm excited that we have an unlocked bootloader and root for the Sprint variant, but I have no desire to do anything until there's an established procedure to unroot and revert back to stock.

Here's hoping it's taken care of. Sprint didn't used to be such a **** when it came to bootloaders. Anyways, I appreciate all the hard work the devs have been doing. Can't wait until I get the chance to experience it. With a stable 200mhz overclock, there's no functional difference between the snapdragon 820 and the snapdragon 821.
Do any of the posted methods work to restore the VS995 variant to stock?
I really want to go ahead and root it (and yes, have disabled updates so still run 12A since I knew VZW was going to be evil and patch it) but I'm very hesitant to do so without a way to restore to stock. Is it one of those things that's just a matter of time, or is there a substantial likelihood it may never be possible?

Help

I tried to root it and install twrp and my phone rebooted to a screen all messed up. I can't see the screen. Is there a way to flash back to stock? I have a h910 phone.
Yes. There is.
LGup
You should search for LGup and h910 in the forums. It will give explicit directions as to how to get back to what you desire, but beware, you can mess that up too.
Read thoroughly. Then read it again. And again.

No there is no way to go back for the h910. As for the screen turn the screen off cover the sensor by the front camera till the secondary screen goes off then turn the screen on you need to do that each reboot

There is a way back to STOCK.
You need to search a bit.
The only phone not able to return to stock is the ls997 (sprint) variant.

No. Search in the section called 'guides ... Blah blah blah' for a post titled 'how to revert back to stock'
I'll not do the work you are too lazy to accomplish bub.
Edit: you guys really need to learn how the search function works. Your question for me to post a link could have been self answered with the same amount of work.
If you cannot work a search button you've no business rooting your phone. You can bork it unrepairably.

This is a simple method to restore your v20 to stock, I have tried with my bricked H990DS with wrong bootloader flashed.
1. Download .kdz file for your v20 model from the following links. Currently v20 models available are:
F800K, F800L, F800S, H915, H918TN, H990, VS995, H990N and H990DS

There is a h910pr listed but I can't be certain if it applies to your model or not.

Ignore elijah420, unfortunately there are a few rude people on these forums that like to flex their e-muscle by putting others down instead of helping not everyone is like this (fortunately) instead of just providing a link he takes longer to complain.

Was running rooted and fine, then one day after flashing a ROM i was in a twrp boot-loop, after hours of muttering through xda and google i ended up risking the h910pr rom from lgup. i am fortunate and would love to be able to help if something from my phone can help. my carrier settings and data work fine. its actually much better than the att firmware with less bloat. besides the rare notification in Spanish and the claro boot logo, it seems to work wonderfully.

I literally answered a question, then you followed up by requesting verification on that answer. That's pretty rude dude, if that's how you handle your questions then yeah don't ask please.
But in an effort to help, I wasn't aware of any anti-rollback in place. However, since I personally wanted to try the newest update, I just took the Ota to 15a. Then, using Uppercut, went back to 12a.
If that's your plan, to go back to either 12a or 13a, I'd recommend right after Uppercut completes to do a factory reset as you will likely get overwhelmed with force closes (kdz with uppercut doesn't wipe data). Then after you're on a clean slate 12a or 13a, right away enable airplane mode so your phone doesn't hang trying to download everything. All you're interested in is enabling USB debugging for dirty santa (i assume).
Make sense?

When I ask verified I ment was it in a thread or something didn't know for 100% if you did it or read it and if I'm not mistaken the last update was also bootloader unlockable. I read the forum a lot I ment no disrespect when asking the question. As you can tell I've been a member about as long as you and come to XDA very often. Granted yes Google does work but when i looked in to it about the downgrade all I found was how the verizon V20 has gotten root witch was a old article as we all know. I unlocked mine on version 12. Thank you for your reply it was helpful and now I feel safe enough to do my wife's phone.

Yes, I have faced similar issues. But I always fall back on Uppercut. If you're truly stuck then try to wipe everything including internal storage, system, etc. Then do the Uppercut method, that always fixes every issue I've had.
Edit:to be clear, I've had plenty of issues similar to you. However, rather than identify the problem I always just wipe the slate clean. With that said, I suspect a lot of what you're facing and issues I had were kernel related.

Well my phone got so worse that i could not make a facebook call to my girl. It was always choppy like wtf. So i took your first idea. Wipe the POS, system, cache etc. And uppercut it. Now it runs snappy with 13a with root and restock. I checkout the link when i get home. As for the shoutout its for the help you give me. The devs will get their thanks for making things possible i give this phone another month and see if it works. If it dose with all bs off of it (bloatware) i make a video for those who was asking for it. Thanka for the help you are awesome and i keep you updated how my v20 is. My brothers wife has same issues i do and if my phone works maybe she will let me root hers. Just hope they dont give out a update with anti rollback

Glad you got yours taken care of. Did you do the airplane mode thing? I only bring it up because I flip flop back and forth so many times from stock unroot to root access (I'm indecisive).
I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think as long as we have the kdz file, there will always be a way to downgrade. I think the kdz is a total device wide wipe/reinstall regardless of whatever version was on before.

true but i want to know if you dont mind testing new OTA when they come out to see if they can downgrade, if you dont wont to its fine i dont wont to take the chance as the phone has been a POS and hoping the full wipe/ uppercut fixes my issue forever at least, reasion im asking to test is im pretty sure my brothers wife updates her phone and i am trying to get to to let me have the phone so i can fix it and give it back so she can atleast be happy with a phone with no regrets
I have a VS995 I took the OTA 15A updated and I just used LGUP to downgrade back to 12A
Off subject question did you notice your GPS taking forever to find your location on google maps or waze while your VS995 was rooted. I kept having this issue so I went back to full stock and the issue went away.

Safe to flash H91010I to US99610N with LGUP?

Hi all,
Have an AT&T branded V20 in Australia so not getting updates. Also can't use the hotspot without it being registered on AT&T network.
Want to know if its safe to flash a KDZ, thinking US99610N as its from the unlocked variant?
Have a few questions:
Is it possible?
Anybody know of a good guide to do it?
Risk of hard/soft bricking?
Possibility for recovering after possible brick?
Any help is greatly appreciated, been trying to find answers on my own for ages to no avail.
Thanks!
Root your phone, then flash the latest H910 firmware. There are two zips that are in the ROMs forum -- one will take you back completely to stock, and the other will upgrade you, but leave TWRP, you can decide which one.
As for flashing the US996 firmware, it may work, probably won't brick your phone, but there is no reason to...

I've noticed there are a few methods for doing this, dirtysanta etc, which would you recommend keeping in mind what I want to do?

Would updating to a newer H910 firmware still leave me with the issue of the hotspot wanting an AT&T connection? That's the only reason I thought to flash to US996 as its unlocked so would think that's the only way to alleviate the mobile hotspot issue.
Thanks again for your reply!
Search for 'H910 root' in News and DIscussions. I made a thread specifically for the H910 up to V10r.
Have you ever installed the mobile hotspot app for the carrier that you use on any other phone? If so, go into the playstore and search for it -- you will be able to install it.
For example, I use T-Mobile with my H910, and after I debloated all the AT&T crapware, I just went into the playstore and installed all the T-Mobile apps that I need. If for some reason that isn't possible for you, you can always side load them. The bottom line is, that while it may work, you will probably have more trouble if you flash another models firmware. There are exceptions, but why do it if you don't have to

Thanks heaps for your replies. I'm not trying to be difficult (but probably kinda am), I guess also my reason for looking at the US996 route is I live in Australia and that model was sold here, the H910 wasn't. So if I flashed to that wouldn't I be getting OTA updates, not having to flash every time?
Also with the hotspot, this is just a little bit of a foreign concept to me. I've owned plenty of Android phones but this is my first non-Nexus. All the others I've bought from overseas and its been as simple as settings>network>hotspot & tethering and away you go. So with this one I have to download an app? Seems stupid for something that is such a basic feature and is built into Android. I'm not sure why they bother with all this crap, stock Android is better in every way IMO.
Again really appreciate your guidance.
Well, all I can say is try it. It isn't going to brick your phone so bad that you can't recover, but the recovery process would involve you flashing the H915 KDZ and rooting. In order to do that, you must be at ARB 0, so make sure that whatever US996 KDZ that you flash doesn't increment ARB. Also, let's say that you flash the US996 10c KDZ and it works fine, but down the road you take an OTA that increments ARB AND doesn't work. You would then have no way to fix your phone.
Just trying to point out some of the pitfalls you may run into.

No I appreciate the pitfalls being pointed out. I thought it was the safer way to go but guess not... I'll take a look at your thread you mentioned earlier when I have a bit of time to actually do it. Or I'll just wait until a big update comes out, 8.0 or something. Thanks for all your help.

Need help to root H91810k

Hello,
First off, thank you for clicking on this post. I'm new on XDA and rooting LG phones. However, I've searched help on posts and other sites on how to root LG V20 H19810k (T-Mobile Variant) and many told me to downgrade first and then root. But none exactly gave any instruction or step by step on how to do it.
My worries are these ARB (Anti-Roll Back) software updates and if you were to downgrade, you will brick your phones and things like that, it's LG (I mean like there are a lot of complains about hardware faulty after phone updates and lawsuits about it), and different steps on each variants. I bought this phone like 2 or 3 months ago, and my thought on this phone's software is sucks so bad. It's so bad, I've had many problems like my mobile data often times stopped working (no network) even though signal is full bar, my live pixel background suddenly gone after playing this specific game, serious low fps in some games, RAM is full all the time, and many more. The phone itself has amazing hardware and specs, but damn why is the software so bad?
Right, so all my problems aside, I think switching ROM or downgrade probably a good idea and rooting for removing bloatwares. But many had problems installing twrp recovery to root and risks like bricking and bootlooping. And in this post, I'm hoping for help to downgrade and root H91810k.

Search this forum there's numerous threads on how to root

Downgrade to 10j and use DirtySanta, or use lafsploit.
IMHO they are about equally difficult. In the lafsploit thread, I state that you have to be on 10p or 10q, but I will update the post stating that you need to be on 10q or LOWER.
DirtySanta doesn't require you to use FWUL, so it does have that advantage.
Bottom line though, you can't stay on ARB 0 firmware and use any of the current ROMs -- they all require 10p or higher firmware.

Thank you for the reply,
Seems I got it a little bit. So what I've been looking at this dirtythis and that unlock stuff for quite a while. I've been wondering if anyone asked about H918. I just realized that this dirtysanta bootloader is an exploit for other variants that don't support unlocking via fastboot.
So then I proceed to unlock my device and it successfully unlocked. (Follow this post to unlock).
I will try downgrading my device via lgup and will follow this post to flash and root.

Be careful about your rolling back to root, check your current software version and and if you're arb 1 you'll brick. If you're arb look up the laf exploit thread

He said he is on 10k, so he is safe to rollback to 10j which can use recowvery.
@ignoll Whatever you do, DO NOT flash the engineering aboot, or you will brick your phone. Follow the procedure in the post you linked, and you will be fine. DirtyCow gets you a temp root shell that will allow you to dd TWRP onto the recovery partition. If you get an error when you do run-as con, then you are NOT on 10j or lower. If you try to downgrade and you get an error about ARB, then you are NOT on 10k.
Just keep all that in mind and you will be fine.

Thank you for the reply,
Just to make sure, 10k is the software version which you can find in the software info inside the settings app, right? This software info will show stuff about "Android version", and down on the list, there's the "Software version" and below it is the 10k coming from (H918xxx). Or, check it via svc menu and version info through the dialer app. All that is to check whether I'm in the correct version or not, yes? (Sorry for this silly question, I just want to make sure. I'm really new to this)
And yes, I won't flash this engineering aboot, just follow the instruction and I'll be good. But just to make sure again, there's no this "engineering aboot" thing in the post that will brick my device, yes?
That said, I really appreciate for your warning and advice.

Please, i am also stuck and confused, as i understand LG devices, downgrading may cause device to go dead completely, i want to be sure before i begin this process. Here is my device Software Info:
Software Version: H91810K
Build Number: NRD90M
My device is locked to T-mobile, and i want to unlock using Octopus Box as i have credits. Unlocking requires root, is it possible to downgrade to the mentioned version 10j and not brick device? Any one can help me on this.

If you root your phone it will be unlocked no need to use an octopus box.

That is only true if the engineering bootloader is used. The H918 still needs work to get it carrier unlocked.

You need to pay attention to runningnak3d when he says something about root and the V20.
