A500FU (A5 2015) not charging when device is on - Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

My A500FU suddenly lost usb connectivity (no mtp) and will not charge anymore while the device is switched on (android tells me the 'power sharing cable' is connected (but it is not). When I try to charge while it's switched off the phone *does* charge but vibrates and shows me the charging sign (no percentage shown) every 5 seconds or so.
So, no flashing with odin possible.
Anyone experienced this kind of behavior?
I'm thinking about rooting from within android (so with an apk but framaroot, kingoroot, ... don't seem to work). When I can root the phone I can try to reflash a stock rom or run some battery calibration app to see if that makes a difference.
I already cleaned the physical connection (air, brush, spray, ...) but no solution. I cannot imagine the usb connector being faulty (the device has barely been used) but I suspect a battery issue...
I hope someone can give me some advice. Thanks in advance!

When I plug my Omnia 7 with my laptop, it appears the message "USB Device Not Recognized. Unknown Device (Code 43)." I have tried different ways posted in this forum but non of those worked. I tried to restart my pc, plug off battery, hard format my phone, tried in different laptops, and the other methods, but non of those worked.

I do not know why a windows phone cannot be synced with a windows computer. Am having the same problem. My device appears as unknown device in Device Manager. I tried to update the drivers from Zune folder, but it does not find the correct drivers there. Any help would be so appreciated.

I think I can help - it may be the BATTERY!
Hi - I stumbled on this thread by accident but had a very similar problem - I will look up the Whirlpool thread where I wrote about it as it was a while ago - but similar symtoms all fixed by replacing battery. _ i dropped my Ominia briefly into water.
Here's what I wrote in Whirlpool forum on 2011-Oct-31 (can't post link as new member) Thread Title "Samsung Omnia 7 i8700 - Part 2"
My beloved Omnia 7 took a very quick dip in the pool on the weekend. Life lesson learnt: "Do not put phone in top pocket as it will fall out."
Anyhow I grabbed it straight away and turned it off – dried it off etc – I was amazed it booted and runs BUT things are not good.
Phone works normally (all functions, wifi, apps, OS etc.) on external charge either AC or PC USB
Phone works normally on battery, but it keeps playing an alert chime, will not sleep, and in Settings / Battery Saver it flashes on this screen and it does not sleep as whatever its alerting on prevents idle.
Goes to sleep when on AC/USB charge.
After plugging into AC/USB, and unplugging from AC/USB, phone runs normally, believes it is being charged, does not play alert chime, but does not sleep
Does not interface with PC via USB plug into USB causes USB Device not recognised (tried different cables/PCs)
Does enter download mode, but USB not available.
At a long shot, it may be the battery. I know I could buy online (risk it won't be the issue). All I need to do is a quick battery swap test but need a spare battery.
WHAT A MESS. Let me know if you are a Brisso and wouldn't mind sharing your battery for 5 mins....
If replacing battery fixes the problem then GOD knows what Engineering Samsung/Microsoft is upto

I had the same prob here and windows can not recognize my Omnia 7 any more after it caught rain.
I had the same problem on my Windows 7 (64 Bit)
Unknown usb Device , lot of posts have found and at the end it was USB-Cable !!!
The problem was in the length of the cable, with long (1m cable) i can flash but no connection over Zune, after i take cable from my Nokia 15 cm short cable it works without any problems.

What Windows are you using, do you have original ROM on your Omnia ?
For example if you are using some other rom than original , that there you have changed settings for USB port (In Diagnose Mode you can check this)
I am on original German T-Mobile ROM, exact same issue, no cure for now. Looks like an end of life for old good Omnia ...
But I did force update both 8112 and 8773 yet before ZUNE actually suggested the update .So not really in a position to complain.
But if anybody here did a "fully legal" ZUNE update (no flash no forced) then it means that the update itself is a problem and MS / SAMSUNG are responsible (not that it ever changed). Did anyone on OEM ROM with the issue upgrade in a fully clean way ?
Just now noticed - this is similar to the problems mentioned in another 2 threads hot here - just in another case people experienced only annoying "alert ringing". Looks like some of us get hit more severe, others less. XDA gurus - PLEASE spend time on this ! This looks as a massive desease case, last hope is XDA.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S4 Will Not Power On or Charge

Hello!
I need some help. While changing batteries, I pulled out the battery with 1% left and replaced it with the battery that was charged on a separate docking charger. From that point on, the phone will not turn on or recognize the charger (no LED light flashing). I tried using different chargers and even a different battery from another S4 but nothing worked. I also cleaned all contacts.
I tried booting in safe mode and nothing. I recently plugged into my computer and got a message saying qhsusb_dload message. After researching that, it looks like that message happens when the phone has been "bricked" after a failed "root". However, my phone is stock and was never rooted. The only software change was the phone updated to Android Lollipop a few days prior to this mess. Please help!
Thank you,
Rob

It's not bricked. (It shouldn't be)
Remove the battery, press the power button several times to dissipate any remaining charge in the phone, and then insert a fully charged battery. I'd recommend you using a different phone (if available) to charge the said battery.
After that, it should boot up normally.
And if I recall, voltage is supposed to be consistent, regardless of the charge level (unless it's totally dead, then maybe it's different, I don't know)
It's the current you want to look for.

Constant vibrator repeat when connected to charger - not charging though

My son has an SM N910F note 4. Completely stock. It suddenly stopped charging after a long international flight and now when connected to the charger the battery charging image appears, but then after a brief pause disappears, and the vibrator motor vibrates continuously at 1 sec intervals after that. The phone boots into stock rom OK and also into recovery and fastboot mode.
I have tried different cables (several), 4 different chargers , cleaned the connector on the phone (and cable connectors) with air and alcohol. Contacts seem to be OK on visual inspection. Cables and chargers work fine on other devices including a stock rooted Galaxy S4. Also, purchased a new battery but it did not change any of the above symptoms. When I tried to access the Note 4 from my Linux PC, MTP showed nothing and adb devices and fastboot devices saw nothing lsusb didn't see anything either. Different cables didn't alter this.
One odd thing is that when I boot into recovery I do not see the recovery menu but it immediately reports that it is installing an update and after a minute stops with the "failed to find command " error message. We are unaware of any recent uninstalled OTA updates though. Then the recovery menu reappears.
Can someone suggest for me what might account for these symptoms. I have no idea, but when the device was not visible in my Linux machine I began to suspect a faulty USB/charging port. Trouble is we are running out of battery charge to test anything now and no way of recharging

Unfutunately, it is a HW problem. You should the USB connector panel.
Search note 4 flex usb on ebay or Ali.

Yes, I can boot into Odin mode or recovery, but not recognised by laptop. Also, when charger is plugged in the Note 4 will not boot from power button. But as soon as I remove USB cable it will boot. Also, since posting I tried a factory reset and formatted data and cache from recovery. No change though. Still vibrates every 2 secs and will not boot. Battery does not charge at all during this process.
It's still under warranty so I don't want to try the eBay path suggested by Balint320 for repairing it myself at this stage.
Fixed?
Did you get this resolved? Mine is doing the exact same thing since a t-mobile security update. Have tried the master reset twice and clearing the cache. Tried the original charger and several others.
i am having the same problem on n910g, it just stopped charging.I tried everything, from different chargers to a new battery, but no avail.it just vibrates at 1 sec continuously and does not charge at all.
I still have 1 month warranty left but It was rooted and everything so..if there is a way to migrate to fully stock ROM please guide me, so that I can take it to service center.

The only thing I can suggest is, of you are able to get into download mode, is downloading the stock ROM and reinstalling with Odin. Some suggest holding the power button down for a few seconds after removing the battery to make sure that all charge to components is drained before restarting.
Have you tried installing Smartswitch on your PC to see if it detects a problem and is willing to correct it? At least, it will install the correct USB drivers to ensure Odin works fine. Sometimes I think Samsung need a kick in the butt for their slack approach to software reliability and utilities for maintainence and repair. Try just sending it back under warranty anyway if you can't get it to work. Maybe hardware failure. Good luck.

battery not recognized

Hello,
My yotaphone had some big issues after I've changed earpiece, the actual situation is:
- With plugged battery phone is completely dead, nothing happen pressing the keys and the pc recognize it as an usb input device (no adb/fastboot support)
- If I disconnect the battery connector and then plug in the charger, phone starts a bootloop "powered by android", BUT if I plug in battery DURING bootloop the phone boots correctly to the system but battery is 0% (I bought a new battery and I'm sure that there's some charge stored) and if I disconnect charger it says battery low and tuns off
- I've noticed that if I put phone in download mode>connect battery and then disconnect charger, phone stays on and it happens also during "optimizing apps" step during the first boot after update.
Now, I'm not sure of that but I think that it's an hardware issue (like the "daemon" that reads battery amperage doesn't work anymore) but I need your help tho confirm this supposition and even some things to try before throwing away my beloved yotaphone 2
p.s. sorry for my english
My YP2 has had problems with QI-Charging and random reboots since two weeks, maybe from falling down..
Two days ago, the YP2 got very hot, the battery has blowed and the YP2 was in bootloop.
After changing the battery, the YP2 will run like new again.
problem identified!
Finally I've discovered what's wrong:
battery connector is partially broken and the central contact doesn't touch battery terminal.
anyone have an idea if I can find this connector or if I have no chances to find it?

Mi A1 dead, LED blinks on charger, how to revive?

Hi! Similar problems have been posted on the forum before, but none of the solutions worked for me.
Stock Mi A1 with vanilla Oreo (latest official patch), everything stock & vanilla, no hacking, no rooting, no modifications etc whatsoever. All apps installed through google store, nothing fancy.
In short: put my phone into airplane mode about a week ago (battery at 90%), then a few hours into the flight the phone blacked out. Won't react to power button, power+volume up, power+volume down, all buttons, no buttons, any combination of buttons for any length of time. Phone was in my pocket, no physical impact or anything, just "died".
There are 2 signs of life:
- If i plug it to charge the notification LED blinks about 1 / sec
- If I connect it to a computer, it recognizes it as Qualcomm 9008 blabla device.
What I have tried so far and didn't work:
- All imaginable button combinations: no reaction
- Fully charging phone: doesn't help
- Letting battery deplete: doesn't help
- Disassembled the phone, disconnected the battery, put it in charger, reconnected the battery: this fixed the issue for some, didn't work for me.
I GUESS that since the computer recognizes it I could try to "flash" it or whatever, although 1) there are a lot of negative posts about it 2) I have no idea how to do it (which exact ROM, using which exact tool, etc).
I wouldn't mind not losing the data on the phone though, if that is an option: I was about to back up my photos on the flight, but it died before I could have done it.
There is no official Xiaomi support / service where I live, bought the phone while visiting a country which sold it.
Any suggestions?
Small update.
- adb doesn't see the device.
- Miflash sees the device, but dies at "ping via firehose" stage.
-A1 low level backup tool doesn't see the device.
After 2 weeks of googling I have found around 50 forum threads around The Internet with similar issues, but no solution as of yet. Sounds promising!
I had this problem 2 hours ago and fixed with the Disconnect battery, connect charger, reconnect battery (while charger is still connected just to clarify). you tried this fix like this? reconnecting battery while charger is still connected?
Maybe try getting a different battery and connect it, and/or maybe let the battery discharge itself.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I have tried this before. Now I have tried this again just to be sure. Did it multiple times. Disconnect battery, connect charger, reconnect battery. It doesn't alter the phone's state in any way. Doesn't react to buttons, flashes led on charger, shows up as qualcomm 9008 device on PC, but doesn't let me flash anything. Sad.
Qualcomm 9008 is sigh of faulty emmc chip. Bad soldering i guess. Take the device to the service center. My 1 cent op. Regards
Its very simple the solution. The problem is the cable. Try to change the cable, charging the phone and turn it on. I my case works

Have you had any progress? I'm having similar issues with my mi mix 2s.
The answer is to replace the battery. I have two dead batteries for my Mi A1. Both batteries were left in the drawer for several months and upon connecting them to my Mi A1 they showed the dreaded blinking light. After trying to fix this for a day I gave up. I disconnected the battery, the phone booted up right away. Bought a new battery and everything is working again. Hope this helps!
I too had numerous kind of hard bricks with my previous smartphones.
Here are the links that will save your life:
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3
Try the ones that you think fit the most.
I had the same issue just today
removed the battery connector and connected it back without touch any other component
phones working fine now
its bricked and get into edl mode just try to flash with MiFlash tool i have faced this problem some time ago when i flashed an ota with twrp recovery then my phone went dead and when i connect it to pc led blinks and phone recognise in ports as "diagnostic port 9008d" something like that then i install the drivers and flash stock pie rom with MiFlash tool but after successful flashing phone wont boot but after pressing power button for 10 to 15 second phone starts. i have unlocked bootloader so it works for me but i'm not sure it works on locked device try it or use QFIL flash tool from QPST
This happened to me but all i did was charge the phone the whole time.
My Xiaomi A1 had the same issue, I think I have tried all available solution but unfortunately mine still dead, and when I connect the charger it blink.
I guess the ultimate solution is to throw it to a recycle bin.
