[SOS] - Data recovery after factory reset - P8lite Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
is there a possibility to retrieve my data (aka contacts, photos) after factory reset? I know that rooting the device may void my warranty.
I've tried about 10 recovery software, but root was requested and "soft" root modes like iRoot were unsuccessful.
Can you help me?
Thanks

Always make a backup. If the only problem is getting root then go to the TWRP thread and then install the Magisk zip from TWRP (http://tiny.cc/latestmagisk)

Backup existing Data after fresh install of TWRP before ROOT

Hello,
I have an S7Edge and looking to flash it. I am currently in Nougat 7.0 and would like to backup my data before proceeding with the root.
I have flashed the phone with TWRP but when following this tutorial: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7...overy-official-twrp-hero2lte-3-0-0-0-t3334084
People say that you have to format the Data Partition in order to proceed with the installation of SuperSu and NO Dm verity.
Is there a way to backup my phone data [w or w/o TWRP] before ROOTING my phone with TWRP (format data partition to decrypt, install no dm verity and install super su)? This is so after my phone is rooted, I can restore all the apps, pictures, etc.
Thank you for the help! :fingers-crossed:

Hi,
Thank your forwarding me to your thread. I think I figured out a way to fully back it up with the following steps:
1) If you are in Nougat, downgrade to 6.0.1
2) Root your phone by flashing CF-Auto-Root in Odin (it should not wipe any data)
3) Once phone is rooted, you can backup your phone with TitaniumBackup or Flashfire
4) Save the backup in your sd or other external
5) Update phone with official or custom Nougat FW
6) Root phone via custom recovery (TWRP), will have to format all your data
7) One phone fully booted up and rooted, restore from backup with TitaniumBackup or Flashfire
Let me know how it goes

S7 Edge root without wiping data

Hi,
Has anyone had any success in rooting S7 Edge without wiping data on it? I have seen many threads on TWRP recovery, CF-Autoroot but seemingly they will wipe the data while rooting. I accidentally deleted some of my important photos and need to recover them. But all the recovery software require that the phone be rooted.
Thanks in advance.

Backup Password

Hello
I have recently set a fingerprint backed up with password, which was random that I forgot few minutes later. After rebooting my phone, It asked me for the backup password and I couldn't remember.
I have G935F. Unrooted and I was not successful with rooting it and installing TWRP.
I have been getting an error from Odin saying "Fail" after attempting to flash TWRP Recovery.
I want at the first place remove the password; if possible, else I'd like to hear any suggestions from you to recover the files at least and then reset the phone to factory settings.
Thanks in advance

Hard reset After magisk root

Hi all.
I'm here to ask you how should i do to hard reset my Mi A1 (actually rooted with magisk) without lose root.
It's a really simple question, but i can't find a simple and definitive answer!
Thank you in advance, and Sorry if i made a question that have been already made.
Bye,
Carmine
In theory, root will stay intact (Magisk is already in boot.img which doesn't get altered during Factory reset) - you will just have to reinstall Magisk manager app.
In reality, I would un-root, perform factory reset and re-root afterwards. Magisk stores some of its data on /data partition, which gets formatted during factory reset. It might cause some unexpected issues.
Your call..

installation update firmware in s7 edge rooted

Hi, since I have the s7 edge cell with root and twrp recovery, I would not want to lose all the installed apps.
If I reflash the firmware and then reinstallerei the TWRP recovery and root for your phone, then I should do a wipe data / factory reset to restart the phone. So I would lose everything as happened to me in the past.
Is there a workaround so as not to lose everything? Thanks in advance.
You can backup all app be settings with titanium backup and restore free flashing your rom
