Just installed JuiceDefender and I am now getting ALOT better battery life. I also don't think signal effects it because I am in a low signal area. One underneath on the widget is time since last unplugged, and you can see in notifications area the %'age of battery. Have been playing music, browsing internet ect, just using it moderately.

Best record so far before getting down to 10% battery life is 25 hrs 48 minutes.
Sheeeiit. I'm lucky to get a full 12 hours on a single charge. So far. Only been through three full battery cycles so far.
2 days without problems.
Surfing, calling, WiFi, playing games, camera.
With really heavy usage like massive calling and browsing, it's was drained in one day.
Not long ago, first day low usage (FM radio, a bit od camera usage, couple of calls), lasted three days with 20% left.
nahhh ... i guess u r using a Mugen Power 3200mAh extended battery
otherwise impossible ..
wat firmware, rom, lagfix , progs are u using that gets u near to the end of the second day??
The biggest battery killer is 3G. Turn it off when you don't need it and you'll get quite nice battery life boost even without installing annoyances like Juice Defender. With 3G, my battery lasts hardly a day of light usage. On 2G, I can get two, maybe three days of light usage. Most of the time I don't need the 3G speed anyway, 2G is fast enough for a lot of things.
You might also try deleting battery stats and/or leaving the phone to turn itself off and then letting it charge until it tells you it's fully charged (you may turn it on after you've connected it to the charger, but not before that!). That way you'll calibrate the battery meter to your battery capacity properly, so it won't lie to you.
Oh yeah, and contrary to battery theory and logic, your battery WILL improve quite a bit after a week or two. Three cycles is not enough. Just be patient, give it time.
how do you switch from 3G to 2G? noob here.
Settings, Wireless, Mobile networks, Network mode - GSM only is 2G only. WCDMA is 3G.

Stock battery, G7.
You can see in my signature which ROM I am using, it's stock JG5 with no lagfix.
First couple of days since I bought it, I was very disappointed about battery life (previous HTC Touch HD lasted 2-3 days).
I came so far that I set wallpaper to black and even then it didn't last much more than one day. After some time battery life extended and it became quite better, even with Nexus live wallpaper.
3G is OFF in my case, I am mostly on WiFi when I need connection, but GPRS / EDGE are always ON.
I use 3g and battery is ok unless I play games.easily last 2 or 3 days on standby with a few short call s
1h Or 2 With games lol
I have quite bad 3G reception at home, living out of town.
At work it's ok, but I rarely need 3G so there's no problem.

Part of this depends on how your carrier acts. If I turn off 3G it means I can't use data, I can't sync etc. Sync & applications launching and background data is a bigger battery drain...multiples higher than 3G in my guess. EDITAccording to GSM arena, my 2G/3G talk time was way off, but I think their data is old. I'll remove it for now and replace it with "Up to 750 h (2G) / Up to 576 h (3G)"...it's not sooo much the network as what is going on when you might be connected to that network.
edit 2 GSM arena seems to have the most recent info, I thought they were approximating this from their test units.
Just fyi for those unaware.... Bell is a 3G only network, nationwide. You can't disable 3g on Bell and still have data.

I'm also using Juicedeffender and my battery live improved a lot. Now I can run the phone 24-30h without charging.
So i was wondering.. How is your battery performance on your Hero ?
Well mine is mere **** to say the least I need to charge it during the night and one more time during the day and when i go to bed its empty again .. Not.. good ! I use the Kimera 3.0 rom, which is perfect speed wise.. But the battery is another story (maybe not because of the rom?)
I use the phone a whole lot though.. Much time on Wifi and when not on wifi im on 3G / HDSPA .. But is the battery really supposed to be THAT ****ty?
Is there anything i can do to fix it?
My battery was holding for about 5 days at the beginning, currently it dropped to 2 days
call+sms+game(30')+wifi
used about 1 day
Battery is draining in no time!
If you are using a Custom ROM, after fully recharging your mobile phone
(i.e don't trust the green led, charge for more time) go to recovery and wipe battery stats.
If you still on stock rom, then start closing wifi/bluetooth etc etc..
My experience is that I had to charge it over night once and at least once
during the day... otherwise I would not be having a mobile phone to use
After 2 years my phone's battery is ... how can I say in one word? hmm ... Oh yeah, CRAP! , I recharge it twice a day or once a day but once a day is the perfect word depending how much Mobile Data I use (social networks, browser) and very few calls of 20 to 40 minutes total each day and maybe just maybe 30 minutes of games (once or twice a week I play games). It's not what it used to be .. now I am thinking getting a pocket for my charger for when I go somewhere
My battery was really bad, I'd have to recharge it at night and around 4 PM. Now I bought a new one and it easily makes it a day with 3g turned on and using it a lot.
dealextreme.com/p/pisen-twin160-replacement-3-7v-1350mah-li-ion-battery-for-htc-g3-hero-more-42658
i don't do much things with my phone except like texts and calls, some times wifi, so my battery can last about 2days, which still makes me have no words to say.
Mine lastes about 1 day(Heavy use). And i think is is perfect because i always recharge over night. So it does not need to last more than 12 h.
A couple months back my battery was getting swollen. Enough to make the battery cover bulge a bit. Battery life became a big problem at the end... turn on 3G and I could watch the battery percentage go down before my eyes.
I bought a battery (http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...xtended-replacement-battery-for-htc-hero.html) from Mugen's outlet store (which now seems to be gone?)
The new battery is great. It is at least as good as the original but probably better. The new battery has approx 200mAh more capacity.
I can get at least 1.5 - 2 days with 3G/wifi on all the time. I don't let twitter or facebook or whatever sync all the time though.
Battery holding out real well
I am using the Elelinux 7.1 Custom and it feels like the Battery life has improved. it ist holding out almost 2 and a half day, with 3g on during the day.
I can't remember the battery lasting longer than that but of course shorter. tried a senserom once Hero lived about 24 h.
I am expecting somehow the battery to crash soon I am using him since 2.5 years.
We will see.
I have just bought a new battery for my phone but it still dorps to 45% from the 8 in the morn till 23PM. Old one didn't make it till the night.
Average use. Half an hour calls, all time data network connection at hsdpa. 2 email accounts + gmail and facebook syncing.
I charge my hero every night save in exceptional cases, use the 3G connection when away from home and wi fi when they are, I surf on the internet enough and i play with games sometimes!
I think it's okay
i can use it fro an entire day w/o the battery dropping below 30% so im very happy with it. I always load it when I'm at home
After 2 years my phones battery still doesn't drain that much energy. I can llast 2 days with my Hero with the ICS rom from Glassmacka [Ice Cream Sandwich for Hero

First of all do cash reset/factory reset and then check your battery life. Probably your phone overloaded with old garbage/soft etc...
Not really possible for battery to be degraded after 6months of usage, unless you charged from 0-100 3-4 times a day lol

i dont think the battery did degarded... but i just dont get how people said they can havae like 6 hours of sot... so just wanna do a change before the warranty goes out.
i dont even use 25% of my 6p per day since I use my nexus 5 indoor and 6p outdoor.
btw, do u know the charge cycle for the 6p? and how was the quality of huawei battery?
Got my phone in November and charge it once a day since.
Stock not rooted.
Noticed recently phone battery has been winding down much quicker than prior.
Say within last 2 weeks.
Anything unusual happen out there in update land?

Are you frequently in areas with bad cellular signal? That will make the radio transmit at maximum power all the time, draining your battery.

No - not really.
Not Band 12 on most days - Band 4 for LTE data.
The only difference is I setup for the first time a Tasker profile to turn on Waze when I plug into the my car & it activates the Bluetooth and then Waze.
I make it a habit to turn off the High Accuracy GPS manually after disconnection.
It's my first Tasker activity ever so not sure if it's doing something in the background I am unaware of.
One thing I noticed that made a big difference, is to clear cash after every update, I don't use phone much, but I can average 5+ SOT hours, per cycle, never went below 20%. Some times my phone goes for 3 days with 2 or so SOT before it reach the 20%.

Battery drainers:
Brightness (outside)
Heat (outside/brightness)
Usage pattern
Signal coverage
Bad update
Play store
Erroneous apps
Battery life obsession (personal one of mine)
Bad battery (build quality)
These are all factors that can cause quick draining of the battery.

Just popped in a new Cameron sino battery from eBay. 25.00. Wasn't bad camera glass is tedious but not impossible. You can always get another one and pop it in if you do break it. No more shut offs. And yes the batteries in these phones are bad but I was still able to use it, just couldn't let it get below about 25% or it's possible that it would just shut right down. But now that is over with for 25.00. these are still very good phones if you are willing to do a little work.
Hi Friends,
Just wonder if this is normal for this phone, or you guys could give me some pointers for extending my battery life, specifically the Screen On Time?
I have:
- Stock QC2 firmware - I believe this is Nougat with the March security patch
- No Facebook installed (Disabled)
- I am on data about 8 hours a day, rest is WiFi, Bluetooth for my Watch, and NFC is off
- Generally use a black and red theme
- Doing Ad blocking with the AdClear VPN solution
- Sometimes I make conference calls of under 2 hours
- No games, no YouTube watching
With this set I can barely manage like 3 hours of SOT. Is this normal? What am I doing wrong? Any pointers? Thanks!
3 hours SOT is not normal for unrooted stock. I would suggest downloading GSam Battery Monitor and finding out what is hogging the battery. Note that you will need to manually enable the battery statistics permission with ADB for some reason, but after that it will work like normal.
The top two lines should be Android System and Kernel. If you see any non-system app in the vicinity, that is your likely culprit unless you can explain it with normal usage (for example, Firefox is at the top of the list on mine because I surf the web with it)
Alternately, if nothing odd shows up, you may have a bad battery.
The other thing you might take a look at is shutting off the Location setting that scans Wifi/Bluetooth. That is a massive battery killer
Thank you for the helpful responses guys! I'll try GSam Battery stuff... What are your SOTs BTW?
Thanks!
Also my vibration is always on, my back lit keys are always on, and a 30 second screen timeout time, if it helps? Thanks!
Finally, this is the AT&T model with all the bloat disabled.
I'm typically off charge 18 hours and on data the entire time. I do run a Exchange email app that pushes email, my SOT isn't really huge, maybe around 2-3 hours and I also have BT always on and connected to my S3 Frontier. At the end of my day, I end up with with battery around 50% ish.........
Did you recently update, or did you do a clean install? Sometimes the battery can take a few days to settle in

That's pretty amazing! Yes, clean install and updated from MM to Nougat and then the latest patch.
I've got a battery monitoring app installed now... Let's see what it unveils... I'm thinking maybe it's my settings, syncing and etc, cause I NEVER get the SOTs people report on XDA LOL, on any phone really except the Mate 9 I had...

Battery life is SO subjective. The app's installed and the person's usage habits play a massive part in battery life, and you saying that you never get what others are, speak a lot to that.
The built in optimizers in Nougat seem to do a pretty good job at putting unused battery sucking apps to sleep.

I notice one thing, when i connect my Gear 2 by bluetooth battery on phone less about 10-15% less. With out watch and no FB and FB messenger, NFC on, most of day on data, wifi off, 5-6 hours call ( do to nature of my job) i get around 3.5 hours SOT.

I agree bud, so I think my usage pattern must be horrible, cause from the earliest Androids like Droid Incredible to Axon 7 and S7 Edge and others, I never get what people mention. And some of their claimed usage is ridiculous, they say they play games all day, LTE, Videos and still get like 5 hours or etc... Boggles my mind. My biggest battery hog I suspect is my VPN based AdGuard, maybe the vibration, but compared to gaming and etc, they sound so insignificant.

This is a actually normal for USA SAMSUNG battery which is why no1 should get Galaxy S7 on USA carriers battery is even 100 maH smaller at 3500. Battery is always crap usa versions. And I am stuck in them nougat is bad for battery nothing you can do but downgrade to Android 6.0.1 with Odin. Best battery I can upload a vid for proof att Samsung S7 edge battery sucks and so will all USA carriers s8 never buying Samsung again GG. Switch phones best option iPhones have best battery but I hate them. I'd go for a phone with biggest mAh in specs and read reviews for battery. If downgrading doesn't work sorry for all Samsung lovers who read this it's just fact if you actually compare USA version to international. Battery on international is 92 ish hours not even close on USA version +1 sorry for my rant. Second best option I went to zero lemon and got a battery charging case that was like 10000 something maH and I never loose battery because I keep case on entire time makes phone weigh 4 pounds tho

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, bud, I think I would agree, this must be reality. An update for me, seems like getting rid of the VPN based Adblocker has helped battery. Last night, I finally got 4 hours SOT, but that was with the VPN app. Trying without it all day, let's see how it goes.
BTW, hands down, the best battery I have ever seen in the US is on the Huawei Mate 9, even on Nougat. The HUGE battery helps, but legitimately, I was getting 7 hours of SOT.
Thanks guys!
Got the attached SOT after turning off the VPN based ad blocker and using it as needed, rather than on the whole time... Is this closer to normal? ?
I only get 3-4hrs SOT but it is connected to my huawei watch and music is playing when it connects to my bluetooth fm transmitter in my car. I also usually have it plugged in while driving. The best battery life SOT I've seen is on the moto z play. My sister has that phone and she got almost 9hrs SOT. Usually gets at least 7. Someone got over 10.
Hi everyone,
I bought my S8 plus on October 26th 2017. After 4 days using, my devide battery drain quickly. I turn off Location, turn on Sync and using not quite often from 7:00 am to 12:am and the battery lost 36%. Does my phone have a battery problem ? I am using 2 sim also.
Thank you so much.
It's not a faulty battery... I have my s8 a month or so, and I'm not impressed with the battery life. Idle state takes too much power, also cell standby. For your dual sim variant, i suppose that cell standby will take even more juice. It's just that, the s8 has really average battery life, at least on official roms, too much wakelocks.
Why not track which apps use data in the background and turn them off.
Mine is stock, but have disabled some Samsung junk, having data on eats battery (phone continually pinging for LTE/3G) so if in wifi area turn data off, use battery saving location setting. I get 60 odd hours between charges, with around 6 hours SoT. I'm quite impressed but one needs to 'tweak' the phone to get best battery life, some good suggestions here. https://www.xda-developers.com/the-...r-community-radically-improved-my-experience/
