Hi guys.. i bought a moto g4 on amazon wharehouse last week and i'm pretty happy with it... but i've noticed that in these very hot days (35-40 grades outisde) the moto g4 tends to overheat with a temperature between 37-42 grades also with a normal use...
it's normal or i have to send back the phone to amazon ?

That's it
I have to play Pokemon Go using a homemade cooling system.
Thanks for reply. Is the phone in autumn-winter a little bit lower?

Hi guys i got the S3 Neo I9301I 2 days ago and i've got a big problem , the thing OVERHEATS like CRAZY! When i have 2 apps running the Cpu temperature app reports that the cpu is at 60C and it gets really hot and i cant hold it in my hands ( heats up around the home button front and back). Is there a solution or should i give this phone back , my last phone ( Moto G 1st gen) never got even remotely hot.

Where do you live? What's the normal temperature of your area?
I would return it, that is not normal.
I think this type of topics are just for spamming about a device. It looks like s3 neo has a nuclear power which is often become so hot. I urge the @moderator to delete such topics if creater didn't reply specifically.
Hey all!
Yesterday I acquired an s6 edge plus through Verizon. I've noticedone almost immediately that it gets very warm. I checked the temperatures and at its hottest it was at about 170 degrees farenheit. I haven't gotten any overheating warning messages and it hasn't shut off, but obviously I paid a pretty penny for this bad boy so I'm a little concerned. Any input would be great. I'm also attaching a screenshot of what seems to be the normal use operating temperatures.
Thanks guys!

Mine keeps fairly cool. Didn't notice any head yet. Well... while installing all my apps a little bit but that's just normal like on any other device.
I suggest you return your device to get a replacement.
I know... that's not what you want to hear. It sucks.
No heat at all on my phone literally at all I had it on fast wireless charge for hours too didn't heat up at all. Much better than my note 4

If it's brand new there's usually a hell of a lot of activity with updates and media scanners, installations and wot not. It will get very hot during this time. Give it a day to settle down. Mine got warm at this point and now fine.

i've played a few games, had multi-tasking a lot and didn't notice any "overheating" only the normal temp
Thanks for the input guys. Today it seems to be just fine. I restarted it last night and it has been good ever since. Maybe I'm just worrying about nothing. I just do not want anything to happen to my baby
I also had my s6 edge + get very hot and wondered why no shutdown or warning.
Well I'm a little concerned about mine, I was playing a simple game, and after that I went to a program the temperature it's around 55 Celsius on the cpu isn't that to much? And the battery around 36

That is good news. If it starts to happen again, maybe check your battery stats to see what programs are using the most battery. It might help you figure a particular app that might be hammering the CPU.
The last thing I would do is a factory reset; after which wait a day or so for everything to settle down, and if you are still having that problem take it back.
hi,
my new moto x style is getting quite hot for no other reason than that the screen is on.
i'm not playing games or doing anything else cpu or gpu intensive. browsing in chrome, reading xda threads, ...
is this normal for the X Pure?
How long have you had the phone? Mine ran warm the first few days I had it.

Download GSAM battery app and let us know how hot? It shouldn't get hot unless your turbo charging or going crazy with your gpu.

Not "drop it like it's hot" hot
But warm/hot enough to be an annoyance. Not even doing any processor intensive things.

Good idea, will do that!
Interested to see what you come back with. However, it might settle down a little since you are only 4 days into it. Let us know what GSAM shows eating up your battery. Something might have gone rogue on you.
mine randomly will hit up to like 103 if I'm using it for a bit and switching between apps etc. charging on turbo charger hits like 110 or so.

This is one of the reasons I sent mine back. Mine got insanely hot. Wouldn't burn you, but hot enough to the point that it would worry you. At first, If I started to feel it get warm I'd screen off and put it in my pocket, but even then it would build heat. Tried brightness settings and CPU tuning, but nothing worked except for a refund. Ordered a Tempered glass screen protector for nothing now. Tried to give it away twice with no success so the First person to PM me about it gets it free. I have no use for it.
Yeah that was a big reason for me sending mine back, I had it for a total of 5 or 6 days and it would get super hot for no reason. I could be going through emails or searching something on google and it would heat up almost to the point of feeling like I was running a stress test on the phone. I know 4 people that own this phone and they have all had problems with heat, I personally feel like all that heat kills the lifespan of the phone which was a big reason for returning it. Hope you figure it out man, good luck.
It's to be expected guys snapdragon 800 series aka housefire edition. Just be glad we didn't get the 810 which would start melting plastic if left unchecked. Qualcomm is at an end with Samsung's new exynos that barely emits heat while having ludicrous performence I wish Samsung would make a stock Android phone.
I don't think the phone gets that hot, but maybe that's just because I'm coming off the HTC One M9. My MXPE does get warm from time to time, but I have yet to experience it getting so hot as to render it uncomfortable to hold. I had the HTC One M9 and the M8 before it, and those phones definitely got crazy hot. Even my old Motorola XT912 (Droid RAZR Maxx) got hotter than the MXPE seems to. I got my MXPE with the Walnut back, so maybe the wood materials just don't heat up as much.
I wouldn't say phone heats up for no reason. Something is making phone work under no activity. Something running back ground. If your rooted, you can pin point the heateruper. I'm hoping with 6.0 coming soon, we can get optimized rom with bada$$ kernel for best battery tweaking. I can only hope and patiently wait..

Ha-ha came from the same phones(except the m9), anyways mine only got hot for the first couple days, now it runs way cooler than my older phones
i think it's fine now after 1 week of usage.
sometimes it gets warm while browsing on lte but it only heats up to about 42°C which should be fine.
i use GSam Battery Monitor to check for temperature and battery usage.
Good to hear.

Hi all. New to XDA but have finally joined. I have taken the step away from Samsung's bloatware and been using the UK version of Droid Turbo 2... The Moto X force. Have to say is a fantastic beast of a phone but have recently been experiencing overheating and the phone reaching 45°c (gsam battery monitor). Literally heats up in 3 minutes of Clash of Clan on about 20% screen brightness. I thought this version of snapdragon 810 was the "revised" version which had no overheating. Should I be concerned about this or is it normal? I'll be sending phone back to Motorola anyway to fix a stuck pixel so was wondering if this is something that should be mentioned. Thanks in advance all sorry if this thread is in the wrong place.
Because it gets warm doesn't mean it's overheating. If you aren't experiencing throttling performance or reboots or force closures, then it's not overheating.
That being said mine only gets warm when charging via turbo charger, not when playing rayman ... Haven't played clash of clans.

Thanks for your reply... Not as worried about it as much now. It does seem to throttle as there is a bit of lag when it's warm
I currently am using an old LG G3 on ATT and am thinking about getting a Moto G4 as my budget is low as of now. I have seen many reviews on the internet saying overheating is a major issue (ui lag, camera lag, etc). I wouldnt consider myself a heavy user either. I was just curious what other users have to say in regards to overheating. Should I buy the G4? (I can get it a Best Buy for $150 and a free $50 gift card) or is the overheating a dealbreaker?

I personally haven't had overheating problems. After reading about possible overheating I went as far as installing a temperature app to monitor my temps. Yesterday I was in 90+ degree temperatures playing golf with the G4 in my pocket using a gps golf app and it never overheated. Reading on the Lenovo/Motorola forums, it appeared to me that a lot of people complaining about overheating had the G4 Plus. One note, I've never really used the phone with Google launcher and have always used Nova Launcher since I've had it.
A lot of people reporting the heat issue seem to be overblowing it. There was an issue with the camera causing the phone to get quite hot but never overheating levels.
Moto update the camera app via the play store so that issue should be gone now. You can check your temps via motorolas own help app or using something like ccleaner. Motos help app built in when updated gives you a ton of information on your phone under the fix section. I suggest taking a look.
A little heat from a phone cranking the cpu is to be expected. Nothing to be alarmed about.
My Moto G4 gets really hot and starts to slow down...
And then I realize that I haven't closed a single application or window in the past 6 hours and I have 25-30% battery left!
In case any new phone buyers are considering this phone, that statement I made above has probably caused some people to buy it right away.
However, be careful of who you buy the phone from, because apparently the phones that come from Amazon can't be (and shouldn't have ever been) bootloader unlockable.
The only parts that got hot for me were the microSD card when copying apps to it, the space above that (the processor?) when playing Pokemon Go and Ingress at the same time, and the battery (which heated up everything) when I plugged the phone into the included turbocharger wall adapter. The camera only got individually hot once when I was installing another kernel.
The fix I found for the phone when it gets unusually hot (lots of open apps) is to carefully place it facedown on a flat glass or metal surface. I have an extra cutting board that I use when charging any device because even iPod nanos get hot when charging sometimes!

I have not yet experienced any overheating issues, even with heavy use of movies and games. The device heated up a bit when first set up, as it was installing all the apps from my old phone's backup, but after that no issues.
I went ahead and picked it up last weekend for an amazing deal at Best Buy. I am very impressed so far. Only time it overheats is if the brightness is set to max with heavy usage or when charging with Turbo Charger. But still no lag or anything.
