Change DNS on phone and that's it?
No need for root/etc?
And it will stay stock and keep my nice sweet 3 years warantee?

I flashed it via HWOTA Methode without changing the dns server. I downloaded the files via FF on my pc and flash the files over my pc

How is the update? Worth it?

I can't authenticate it how did you get it to install?

Well no way to install unless you want to unlock bootloader or something, when I try dload method, and boot with volume + volume - power button it just says "software install failed the update package does not exist".

190 is now certified might go back to that

Any of you who have B193 have Magisk?
I can't get SafetyNet to pass on this... Basic passes, CTS Profile does not.
All props look OK. I'm wondering if Huawei added something to prevent MagiskHide from working.
It was working fine on B190, aside from USB Debugging being a bit iffy. It wouldn't stay turned on and SafetyNet wouldn't pass if it wasn't (It's usually the other way around)

How to update the Huawei Mate 9 Pro (Lon-l29c)'s firmware?

Is there anyone out there that knows how to update the Mate 9 Pro (Lon-l29c)? The firmware finder app seems suspiciously unable to supply an "authenticated" update package, & paying funky Huawei every time I need to update is a bit to much for me. I have the files for the update, I just have no idea how to go about making the phone use it even recognize the files. Are there any methods available other than the two I mentioned?

And you dont have to pay evertime you update it , if you pay 30$ you get 5 points which will allow you to update your phone 5 times

Not to be rude, but I posted to find another method other than funky Huawei. Even with the fact that it's just $30 for 5 updates is way more than I would ever spend for something I've done for free. I plan to have this phone for years, and I'm pretty sure there'll be more than just 5 updates in a year (there's been 3 in the 2 months I've owned the device already).

Do you need to do any extra steps on the Mate 9 Pro? Is not having an external sd card in our phones a problem?
Currently considering rebranding to C636, since that versions seems to get updates fastest.

Hello,
I have a chinese LON-AL00, could anyone with an international version tell me if they got Google Assistant working?
I still stuck with Huawei's assistant HiVoice which greatly sucks :crying:, and i would like to know if changing firmware would actually get me the Google Assistant.
Thank you

I don't need an OTG cable or anything. Just download the files and put them into the correct folder. Launch the program, and then follow the instructions? No need to change any settings.
I think the instructions in the thread are a bit confusing..

Did you use FF ?
Did you use the OTA-MF or the FullOTA-MF?
Last time I tried for my C636 (B182) I wasn't authorised!

Tried again. I just kept getting that incremental stuff where it keeps wanting to download another patch.
So. I cleared the folder specified in FF, rebooted the phone and then it kept saying the connection was unstable.
So, I uninstalled FF Proxy and then reset the connection. File downloaded. Phone rebooted and said it couldn't verify the file and now.....
"Your device has failed verification" on boot up. It will work if I press the power button, but something is clearly wrong. It suggests I use 'ERecover' which states it will download the most recent build over Wifi.
Balls. Will give it a try - but I fear I've bricked the bloody thing!

Ah. Thanks for that. That's how you get around that problem!
Onto the new problem - "Your device has failed verification." Huawei's own solution failed. I presume it only works in Asia or China. It appears to want you to use 'ERecover' and wifi*not fully booted phone) to download a system image. Doesn't work. (Funky Huawei use this method, but they change your DNS so presumably ERecover points at their servers for a fee.)
Apparently factory reset doesn't work either and I didn't wanna start from scratch again.
I Googled about and this does seem a relatively common issue and someone else got the issue on a Huawei Mate 9 (not pro) doing the same thing. The OTA updates can cause this, he flashed an older firmware. I tried to flash the older firmwares, two of which got 'not authenticated' messages. So, going for broke, I had a go at installing the newest B182 firmware FULL again through FF. By some miracle - it worked and fixed the "Your device has failed verification." issue as well!!
Phew. So managed to get B182 on L29C636. :victory:
Only weird thing I got was Google Drive didn't want to work post installation(kept saying no network connection) - so I deleted all data from Google Play and this started working again.
Now that I know the critical point in using FF - "Download latest full package" as stated above. This shouldn't be such a ballache.
Can anyone confirm the benefit of converting the C636(Asian) to the European version- C432?

For HiCare, ensure you use Service >> Update. If you just go to Member >> Check for Updates I don't think it will work.

Once you get the notification for system update on your phone, it will automatically be available on Hisuite.
Make sure to back up user data before flashing any update as you may need to manually perform a factory reset before using the new update. I own an FRD-L14 US version and i am on the latest update for my model thanks to Huawei Pc suite. All other methods always fail after 5 - 10%.
To update using Hisuite, simply launch the PC software and click on update after properly connecting your phone. I have been referring to only the PC version as i can't vouch for the phone software.
NB: Don't forget to flash stock boot and recovery if you've modified your device prior to using Hisuite otherwise it'll fail after reboot to recovery.
Best of luck, Cheers!

thanks for awesome guide i will definetly try this:good::highfive:
You will get the OTA some weeks later. Until then, you will not be able to flash the update through any official means (like using HiSuite, TWRP, erecovery, etc.). If your bootloader is unlocked, try my "Flashing unapproved Firmwares" guide for Honor 8 in Guides section. It will work flawlessly.
Did anyone already successfully manage to install e.g FRD-L19C432B399 ?
I tried dload, Red_lotus and flashing with FRD_RECOVERY_NoCheck.img
Yet it always tells me "installation failed" Is there anything i can do to get it work?
I am coming from B398 and need this battery optimization update or I will sell my phone..

sorry about the late reply, but yes 12hr battery global. for screen on time i get 4-5hrs usually, i just got this phone a few months ago as a FRD-L04. i rebranded because of how slow updates come out on the L04, which was my real only complaint with this phone. battery life is awesome and emui is sleek and nice compared to other OEM android roms.
i don't really care for much about SOT because my whole goal is to minimize that as much as possible. i use a moto 360 daily so most of my notifications are going to my watch and my phone stays in my pocket.
other than that, this update is just a security patch.

Mine too, but the "fix" is to remove your SIM card. Without it, your phone won't go into the bootloop. No need to go for the factory reset just yet...

Enter *#*#64663#*#* for test menu. Go to proximity centre and wave hand close to the sensor so the calibration menu becomes available calibraye and exit.

Well for a double of the price, it should be better !
~500eur vs ~220eur
I know that mate 10 lite was a trash, and it worked like a trash.
Smart Lock stopped working in my device. It was working fine in the October patch.

Same here, nothing changed. This is the patch just for security from Google. I think they will fix all this bugs only with Android Pie update, just not to make a double work )
It fix my october update failed issue. Nice .. about 1gb size..
